Anyone else doing 30 day shred?

I heard lots about it and got the dvd. I'm on day 2 and can feel my muscles aching!
I'm trying to combine it with a diet too.

Is anyone else doing this/thinking of doing it?

Hello all....like wideratthehips I was inspired to get the dvd after lurking on the thread!

I posted ages ago to say I'd done day 1, but I hurt my back somehow and did the toning section of Claire from Steps dvd for a while as I found the 30 Day Shred very hard.

I've just started again and done day 1 Level 1 and made sure I did the exercises safely.

Are we supposed to do 10 days at Level 1/10 at level 2/10 at level 3?

The only problem I had was my pelvic floor muscles, so it's reminded me to do the exercises.

twinkle183 · 13/05/2010 11:14

Morning ladies...

Did day 8 this morning and am looking forward to moving on although am still really sweaty once I finished! I enjoyed doing it in the morning rather than in the evening! So think I will continue on with that!! Not sure whether I have noticed any different but am staying positive with it all!

Keep going everybody and really chuffed that everyone is getting the results they want...!

Nolda · 13/05/2010 11:26

I have just done day 1 of level 2. OMG it is so hard! 20 minutes of pure hell. Jillian certainly had my number when she said, "see you tomorrow" at the end!

Gettintrimmer I'm with you on the pelvic floor muscles.

Skimummy · 13/05/2010 12:28

BattyKoda It hasn't got that much easier...I still find level 1 quite challenging but mainly because I am really concentrating on doing things properly. Actually managed a whole set of full push ups this morning and getting deeper into squats etc.

The problem with Food Focus is that I am now far too aware of calorie contents. It has ruined alot of food for me!

Nolda Now I am really scared about Level 2!!!

BattyKoda · 13/05/2010 12:55

Are you doing the push ups properly, or on your knees, I can just about manage the full set on my knees. God knows what the neighbours are thinking, the amount of noise I make!

CatJosephine · 13/05/2010 13:04

Push ups on my knees!! I am following Anita with light weights and I still find it hard.

Did day 6 level 1 and it does feel a bit easier -ie I no lomger stop at the second set of jumping jacks.

Clockspotter · 13/05/2010 13:10

Done two days on level 1 and took a break yesterday cos knees too wobbly (thought it best to let the muscles recover ).

All those star jumps do remind you to do your PF exercises but, in the meantime, does anyone know if tena lady REALLY works?!

Piffle · 13/05/2010 14:11

I'm on my knees for the push ups- first day I did about 5 and died (I am REALLY weak there) next day tried to do more but collapsed in pain, yesterdya did them all and today managed them tough but did it!!!!!!!
4 days sorted that highly impressed, will know I've cracked it when I can do full press up!

The cardio is getting easier, the skipping is by far the hardest for me

I am sort of dieting but I am quite sh_t at it, though I eat quite healthily so by simply cutting out booze I am dieting
I use iphone app Shape up to count cals and I eat between 1500-1950 this week and that included wine on Tuesday (to soften the Tory PM blow)
Scales tell me I have lost 1 kgs in the last 4 days though so must be working but I do cycle and walk my dogs daily too

MiaWallace · 13/05/2010 14:44

Just completed day 6 level 1. Increased weights from 1kg to 1.5kg for most of the exercises. Still need to use the 1kg ones for the squat and the side lunches.

I also did half hour on the spin bike this morning.

From the recommendations on here I joined food focus. It is great, can't believe it's free!

BattyKoda · 13/05/2010 15:01

Piffle - Wish I could diet just by cutting booze, I'm pretty much tee-total! It's the chocolate that lets me down, and meals out at the weekend, and take aways
Mia - side lunches?? I've missed this part of the DVD...

Do I really need to get some weights? Or are my tins OK?

notyummy · 13/05/2010 15:16

Batty - tins Ok for the first few days, but the programme is really designed for slightly heavy weights tbh. Have you weighed your tins?? If you are finding them very challenging, then stick with them at the moment, however I think 1.5kg weights - perhaps moving up to 2kg when fit - is a sensible aspiration.

MiaWallace · 13/05/2010 15:23

at side lunches. Wishful thinking

wideratthehips · 13/05/2010 17:22

have just joined the food focus website......

its amazing, log what you've eaten through the day and it breaks it down in to carbs, fats etc.

put in your target weight, and how much you want to lose each week and it calculates your net calories against your exercise.

brilliant!

BattyKoda · 13/05/2010 17:30

Tis fantastic isn't it?!

I've just put in my dinner whilst it's cooking, and I have a spare 359 calories today!

justaminute · 13/05/2010 20:02

Drum roll please ladies ...................I've just completed 30 days of shredding! dah dah. I would take a bow but I'm too knackered to move

It has taken me 37 days, twas very annoying when life got in the way of the Shred. I'm off to measure and will report back later.

BattyKoda · 13/05/2010 20:05

Wow, well done justamintute!! Fantastic..!

I'm am only on day 2 and have been struggling to imagine getting to day 30 without being hospitalised in the process.

LostGirl · 13/05/2010 20:25
Tortoise · 13/05/2010 20:46

Well done justaminute.

Level 2 will be done later. Just waiting for DS1's bedtime!

I have one question. Am i odd that i don't ache? Or does that mean i am not trying hard enough?

vintage · 13/05/2010 20:53

i am not aching much on level 2 well not as much as level 1. I moved on to level 2 after 6 days and i am finding it easier than level 1. I am really noticing a difference in the tops of my arms bingo wings are disappearing also 2 horrible rounds of fat at each side of my abdomen are almost away .I have been dieting(eating nothing at all thats bad for me) and going to the gym and swimming since January but this dvd is showing the best results I am wrecked though with all the exercising i am doing

trumpton · 13/05/2010 21:05

Gah lost my message i just typed. Congratulations Justaminute I am hoping to get to end without taking a day off.
Tortoise I posted a day to day log Wednesday 17.04 and said I had hardly any post exercise pain.See if it rings any bells with how you are feeling.

trumpton · 13/05/2010 21:09

Come on Justaminute give with the measurements !!

Tortoise · 13/05/2010 21:15

Trumpton I did see that the other day. It does sound quite like me from what i remember of previous days shredding. I do remember aching thighs after 1st day.
I will try even harder tonight. I think i don't do arm ones 100% right. SOmetimes just can't physically lift my arms to do the move!

I did manage walking push ups last night but can't get down far. More 1/2 a push up lol!

justaminute · 13/05/2010 21:37

Thanks everyone. I've finally cooled down enough for the tape measure to stop sticking to me, the results are in....
2lb weight loss - I thought I'd been eating relatively healthily - obviously not
1 inch lost from waist and hips, half an inch from each thigh. Arms, knees and bust have stayed the same. Not outstanding results but I didn't measure myself until day 8 so perhaps I lost LOADS in the first 8 days .

However, I feel so much stronger I can do more than one proper push up, two full sets of plank to push up and I did a full set of "rocky style" sit ups tonight. I'd never have been able to do that 1 month ago. I had been mostly following Anita but lately I've tried to do more of Natalie's moves and can feel my body working much harder. I'm aiming to do another round of shredding concentrating more on my technique and going for the hard stuff.

I can see muscles in my arms - love flexing them in the mirror - dh is worried I might turn orange, take up body building and pull iron man poses in a skimpy bikini

I'm off to polish my trophy now - ready to pass on to the next person to complete the Shred.

simmo39 · 13/05/2010 21:37

Day 7 done, missed the last couple of mintues and cool down as had to collect DS from School. Felt disappointed I didn't finish it all. Legs are still killing me, but they do feel firmer just above the knee.

Anyone noticed any improvements in their inner thighs? Mine are quite big and would really like to improve them. Will the shred do this?

Am getting a bit bored of level 1, and looking forward to moving onto the next one. However when I read some of the comments like 'walking push ups'! I get kinda scared

trumpton · 13/05/2010 21:57

Well done Justaminute 8 days to go til I finish . Will try not to measure until then. I bet you feel good. Planning on doing level 3 followed by level one for the last week before holiday. Got to leave room for holiday food wine.
