Anyone else doing 30 day shred?

I heard lots about it and got the dvd. I'm on day 2 and can feel my muscles aching!
I'm trying to combine it with a diet too.

Is anyone else doing this/thinking of doing it?

It must be rock road day today as I had some too...far too yummy and easy to eat .
Vodka and cream soda sounds like it could get messy!

Hi - still waiting for my DVD to arrive.

I've noticed a lot of sore knees being mentioned, which makes me nervous.

I do know a good exercise which helps mine when they play up, when I can be bothered doing it.

Stand on with your heels hanging off the edge of a stair or low step, toes balanced on the step.

Slowly raise yourself until you're on tiptoe, keeping your knees straight all the time.

Then lower back down to starting position.

Do this slowly ten times - a couple of sessions on consecutive days always sorts my knees out.

Sorry to bore - just can't bear to think of people being in pain when there's a simple solution.

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 09/05/2010 23:26

Forgot to say - follow this with ten reps on each leg individually.

mummytotwins · 09/05/2010 23:57

Oooh! thanks OurLady Ive started taking cod liver oil capsules to help mine too (tbh I think I am just a creaky old bag and the weight of pregnancy took its toll on my joints) I will definatley try your tip though x

Jux · 10/05/2010 00:00

I'm waiting for my dvd to arrive; I've been advised to watch it through first though (see this thread. It's going to take me a lot longer than 30 days.

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 10/05/2010 00:04

Cod liver oil might well help - but I'm 47 and have had three enormous babes (11lb 12oz was the heaviest), but I find this exercise definitely works even on my creaky old knees! < climbs on to Stanna stairlift >

trumpton · 10/05/2010 09:38

Wish me luck ...going to move onto level 3 today:- been doing the Shred for 20 days now and not missed a day. It's really working.19 days til holiday and definately changing shape.

Piffle · 10/05/2010 10:36

Well just done day 1 level 1... as I expected the push ups were hard for me but I coped (raggedly) with everything else ok...

notyummy · 10/05/2010 10:40

Well done Piffle and Trumpton! I am not doing the 'prgramme' as such; just using it as an alternative exercise source from time to time. I either do levels 1 and 2 together , or level 3 with some additional cardio. Tonight is level 3 and 20 minutes on the cross trainer. Can't wait.....

fustyarse · 10/05/2010 10:47

did level 2 today - yuk!

it was, I thought, significantly harder than level 1, but ~I felt I was getting a bit bored with L1, so...

might go back to it. I can do the whole of L1 and still find it a good workout, but couldn't do all of L2 wihout numerous pauses...

I've done it 6 times now and feel a bit tighter, alhough the scales haven't moved downwards yet

combining this with ww online, hoping for results!

Nolda · 10/05/2010 11:29

OurLady Could you explain your knee exercise to me again. I think I've shredded my brain as I can't follow it. Am I standing looking up the stairs on on leg?

I've completed day 8 of level 1 today. My knees are better having had a day off at what would have been day 7 if I'd been doing it straight but they are still a bit dodgy.

Well done Mummytotwins!

MiaWallace · 10/05/2010 12:01

I attempted to do level 1 day 4 yesterday but I was aching so much I could barely hold the weights. Stopped after the first circuit because I was worried about hurting myself.

Going to get back onto it today. I've also got a spin bike arriving at some point today too so will be starting that tomorrow.

The cross trainer is the one thing at the gym that still kills me why i wonder i see really old women doing it for 20 minutes and i am 46 i mean really old

vnmum · 10/05/2010 15:28

done day 5 level 1 today after a 2 day break over the weekend as i was feeling weak and rundown after getting a cold. The cold has now kindly moved to my chest which means as an asthmatic im wheezing and coughing for most of the day and night. Anyway i was going to skip today with not being 100% well but decided to try it as i didnt want to skip anymore days really. I managed it but felt i was stronger on the upper body bits but my legs felt like it was day 1 again and i had no strength. dont know if thats coz of my days off or because im not fully well.

will see how i feel after tomorrows shred

MiaWallace · 10/05/2010 16:38

Did day 4 level 1 today. Had a rest day yesterday which did me the world of good because I felt like it was a lot easier today.

trumpton · 10/05/2010 18:12

First day of level 3 today. Did it but golly it was hard. This is day 20 for me and am still enjoying it. Didn't think I would have time today but ran in from work and stripped off jeans and did it in my pants !! Sound of thighs slapping together could be big incentive to keep going . Who was it who said that she felt like a frog on level 3.... ?I feel your pain !

twinkle183 · 10/05/2010 19:10

Hi ya girlies... am shredding later and this will be day 4 in a row.. (patting self on the back) I have am chuffed with myself that I haven't used anything as an excuse to have a day off...

Am doing really well so have decided like notyummy to add abit of interval running in on the treadmill again and see how I get on... Better start training for the gnr also think it will encourage a bit of an extra inch loss...

trumpton have just spit my tea everywhere regarding the thigh slapping one.. have to give that one a go when I feel myself reaching for the chocolate bar...

Have had a really stressful day today as I had my english exam and am trying to not use it as an excuse to grab the sweets or biscuit tin...

simmo39 · 10/05/2010 22:02

Did day 4 level 1 today. Still struggling a bit and have to have the odd few seconds rest. But I am enjoying it, and as it is only 20 mins my DS is quite content to watch me or play with toys beside me whilst I get on with it. (but laughing at me at the same time! )

Food was going well until today my DS decided he didn't like the chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce I had bought for him. It wasn't till I had scoffed 3 huge teaspoons full that I realised what I was doing. But boy was it good!

So none of my Golower treats tonight to try and compensate. Looking forward to shredding tomorrow

Piffle · 11/05/2010 07:07

Only day 2 of level but can report all of my body knows I did it yesterday
my arms and shoulders the worst ( also the weakest part of me I suspect)
doing it through the aches should be erm interesting!

Joby1970 · 11/05/2010 12:54

Piffle - yep thats the way it feels on day 2 lol it does get better tho.

I've had a few comments this weekend on how toned I'm looking (v happy)

vintage · 11/05/2010 13:15

ive just done day 1 level 2 as i am quite good at the weights bit i actuallt found iteasier than levl one with all those jumping kacks . I did di the modified versions of most of the cardio though and then jogged round the garden for a wee while

vintage · 11/05/2010 13:16

sorry awful typos ...jumping kacks lol

Piffle · 11/05/2010 13:27

Well I did it and god it was hard, the push ups were virtualy not doable due to (unfit) tired hurty arms. But I persevered and got some in, the rest was ok, bicycle crunches were testing too...

That said I have my period atm and afterwards had severe pain gynae type and had to swallow pain relief and lay in bed feeling awful.

But all ok now...
Scary though
