Anyone else doing 30 day shred?

Squidmission · 11/04/2010 18:12

I heard lots about it and got the dvd. I'm on day 2 and can feel my muscles aching!
I'm trying to combine it with a diet too.

Is anyone else doing this/thinking of doing it?

Ok,day 2 done - still in pain but managed to grunt my way through

feels good!

will be mainlining ibuprofen to get through the day

how's everyone else getting on?

PurpleFrog · 05/05/2010 09:31

Well, I am not aching as much today as I thought I might be. I knew I would feel it in my shoulders, but my neck is a bit stiff as well. Like Tortoise I think I was straining too much in the crunches.

It would have been nice if there was a clock or something shown on the screen! I had absolutely no idea how far through I was .....

I suppose after doing it a couple of times I will recognise where I am in the routine.

Squidmission · 05/05/2010 10:03

Hope youre better today Twinkle. Just stay away from those biscuits!

Purplefrog I get to know how far I am because she follows a pattern of 3min strength, 2 cardio, 1 abs 3 times. I'm always counting down the circuits as I can't wait for it to be over!

Day 6 level 2 done!

OP posts:
LostGirl · 05/05/2010 10:23

Congratulations Squid, you are over halfway through!

PurpleFrog · 05/05/2010 10:30

Thanks Squidmission - I think I should have watched it before doing it iyswim - I had got it into my head from previous posts that there were 2 circuits and the 2nd one was a repeat of the first. So it came as a huge shock when I seemed to have been going for AGES and hadn't repeated everything....

marmalade32 · 05/05/2010 10:48

Well day 2 level 2 done. It is hard. The squat thrusts are a bit of a struggle as are the obliqu twists. I think I must be doing them wrong as my neck hurts a bit. Think I might slow them down tomorrow and make sure the technique is right before I speed up again. But, I am very motivated now. I have been doing SW but had only lost a stone and stayed level for a couple of weeks, and was really struggling to get the diet right. 2 weeks ago I had a bad week with 2 year old DD's tantrums and ate loads of chocolate and a Mcdonalds !! So put 5 pounds on..well went to get weighed last night and have lost 8 pounds in the 2 weeks I have been doing this. I have been stricter in my diet, no choc or too bad things but not massively strict so am very motivated and think this is now the best thing in the world !!! Well done everyone for perservering. We are all doing really well.

twinkle183 · 05/05/2010 11:01

Well good morning ladies...

I am feeling a little better and going to do jillian this morning before lunch.. have really missed while I have been ill but know that I needed to get better first.. Am going to go back to L1 and start my 30 days again....

I want to get the full benefit from it rather than only doing it half heartly....

Well done to all the fellow shredders in getting it done and continuing with it and all the inch and weight loss... Keep it up ladies.... xxx

Nolda · 05/05/2010 11:22

Well done Marmalade, that's v impressive.

Glad you're on the mend Twinkle and up to shredding again.

I've just completed day 4 level one and really feeling it today. I think I may have finally got my head round what I'm supposed to be doing and so using more effort.

justaminute · 05/05/2010 12:13

Wow - lots of new converts to the cult. Hello fellow Shreddies

I did day 3 of Level 3 last night. It's just dawned on me that there is only another 7 days (1 week) of hard slog and I'll have completed the Shred. Sadly I don't think I'll have the results I dreamed of but I've already started thinking how I'll do it all again but try harder.

It's definitely addictive.

Hi everyone. I've been lurking for a while and would like to join

I did day 1 of level 1 last Friday, and really ached the next day. I strained my back a bit, but ignored it and went out running and did other other exercise over the weekend, but had to take a couple of days off exercise Monday and yesterday as I felt over tired and achey.

I feel great today, went for another run earlier and plan to do the 30 days shred again tomorrow. Although I will be paying close attention and following the easier option, tried to do too much too soon!

marmalade32 · 05/05/2010 13:27

Well done everyone. Keep it up. Bit of advice that I should have listened to from tortoise - sorry tortoise - if any of you on level 1 are still struggling with press ups, as I am, towards the end of the 10 days of Level 1, then you probably should stick to 1 for a bit longer. I didn't and am day 2 of level 2. It is harder, there is a lot more upper body strength required. Walking press ups, Squat thrusts, plank jacks, planks. I am giving it my best go but it's really hard and I'm beginning to think that, maybe give it a couple of days and go back to Level 1 for a bit longer. I'm struggling on some of them and I think maybe better to do them a bit easier but properly than half heartedly.

Tortoise · 05/05/2010 13:35

My right butt muscle hurts today! Neck is ok but still have a headache! Will shred again tonight. Staying on level one a bit longer as i need to get better at push ups and getting technique right. Those walking push up on level 2 are putting me off!

can I join. I read this thread on sunday and it inspired me to have a run and to restart my 30DS. I started about a month or so ago, did 5 days with a few rest days then just got out of the habit. Even after only a short time of doing it DH could tell my shape had changed slightly. I am doing SW also and after having 2 weeks of not sticking to the diet and doing no exercise this thread gave me the kick up the arse i needed to get back on track. I have a function at DH work in june and was hoping to be close to my goal weight by then to get in a nice new dress. well too much chocolate, cake and being lazy have meant that i am in no way going to lose 2 st in 5 weeks to get where i wanted to be but i know that by doing 30DS i should look slimmer in whatever i find to wear

I did day1 level1 yesterday afternoon after doing week 4 of the couch to 5K running plan im doing and i must have got fitter from running since i last did it coz i put in full effort but wasnt quite as dead at the end of it as i was when i did it first time around. i could also walk downstairs this morning, lol.

well just done day 2 level 1 and i can certainly feel my legs and glutes when i try to sit down. must mean im doing the squats right but i may be standing all day tomorrow if it gets worse after day3,lol.

so thanks for the inspiration everyone and i have taken photos and measurments aswell so i mean business this time. i will check in as the days go on.

trumpton · 05/05/2010 18:36

Just done day 15 and 6th day of level 2. Still not missed a day and my jeans are getting looser. Finding level 2 hard but am now using 2.5 kg weights and my arms are definately better. Ugh those plank jacks and squat thrusts. 2 more days on this level and then try level 3 . Holiday in 3 weeks.
Watching Squidmission's posts as I am one day behind her (lurking)

twinkle183 · 05/05/2010 20:22

I have just tried to do my shred and I still can't manage to it without breathing through my nose although I feel better this so frustrating!!! All I am doing is sneezing everwhere it's bloody annoying...

Welcome to all new shredders am completely jealous I can't shred with you... Well done to those who have managed to shred!

I hope to be bad shredding tomorrow.

simmo39 · 05/05/2010 21:18

DVD arrived today! Haven't done it yet, haven't even opened the cellophane. Am a bit scared! What a wimp! Should I do tonight or wait till the morning.
Does it make a difference what time of day?

Tortoise · 05/05/2010 21:33

Oops lost track of time. I had better get on with it before it is too late!

Tortoise · 05/05/2010 22:14

Day 7 done. Started off feeling a bit weak and like i haven't got any better at it but finding other bits easy than before. Can't see me ever being able to do full press ups but i can kick my butt!
My Brother was piss taking tonight and doesn't believe it will work. Hopefully will prove otherwise!

justaminute · 05/05/2010 22:32

Tortoise - Brothers! I have empathy for you, I don't think they ever tire of teasing their sisters. You go show him and use him as motivation when doing the squat punches

Just done day 24 having played netball tonight too. I have a smug look on the face of a tired, sweaty body.

mummytotwins · 06/05/2010 03:50

Day 10 level 1 done! Starting level 2 tomorrow eeeekkk!!!

Not sure what I am doing wrong but my knees are SO sore!!
