Anyone else doing 30 day shred?

I heard lots about it and got the dvd. I'm on day 2 and can feel my muscles aching!
I'm trying to combine it with a diet too.

Is anyone else doing this/thinking of doing it?

rubyx3: open it - it won't bite honest

twinkle183 · 04/05/2010 13:24

I've done all 30 days (& then some) & I still find real press ups hard - can do about 3 !

fustyarse · 04/05/2010 14:21

I planned on doing it once I'd dropped dd at nursery and ds2 at MIL's- but I tried jogging back to the car and oh dear god,the pain! I'm in genuine agony today, and think that if I tried to do it I'd end up hospitalised...I am annoyed at myself but figure if I do it first thing in the morning after having a hot bath tonight I'll keep on track. I can't actually beleive how sore I am, I'm used to doing Davina and Nell and go to the gym....

Am also on day 2 of the India and Neris diet which so far is fine...am desperately missing my cups of tea though - green tea and rooibos don't cut it....neeeeeeed caffeine!

Am wondering if I'm trying too much at once, given that I average 4-5 hours sleep at night, thanks to my not-sleeping-through-at-16-months ds2....- lack of tea and wine is not helping!

they have killer abs that's for sure & I'm pretty certain it's not jsut from the shred. I think Anita is too thin too

fustyarse · 04/05/2010 16:29

think it's your widescreen, ruby - they look incredibly lean on my ancient kids' den portable telly - I would kill for abs like that!

Am determined to stick to the diet this time - I really need to see results or I get so de-motivated. I'm 11st and 5'3''- want to lose 1.5 stone by the end of summer. Am not sure about the no-carbs thing really - any diet that stops you eating fruit and certain veg is weird - surely having an apple for a snack is better than having crisps or choc? Oh well, it's worth a try.

Am still walking like a cowboy after yesterday's exertions, but deffo back to it tomorrow. And I've got a circuit training class in the evening...

hope everyone else is feeling gooooooooood!

marmalade32 · 04/05/2010 16:29

Well, I have just done day 1 Level 2.....and....it's not as bad as day 1 level 1, but it is hard. I have sweated my behind off. The plank exercises are quite hard on your arms. My upper body strength definitely needs work. The cardio is harder but I can see how it will get easier, iyswim. The strength is tough and have had to go down to 1 kg weights for a few exercises, and I can hardly stand up on the 1 legged ones! but the abs are just about doable if you just keep saying only a minute to get you through. Will try again tomorrow. Have a feeling I might be on Level 2 longer than 10 days!

notyummy · 04/05/2010 18:40

Well done on weight/inch loss everyone!

ruby - i think its a combination of the widescreen and us all being conditioned to think that thin=healthy. Both ladies are slim and toned, but neither is thin (IMHO.) They probably both have healthy BMIs (possibly at slightly different places in the 18-25 scale to reflect their different builds) and good body fat ratios. If any of you have body fat scales, it would be a really useful tool to chart your progress whilst following this sort of programme, as you should notice a real difference.

Going to have to work extra hard tonight now that i have eaten caramel ice cream!

twinkle183 · 04/05/2010 20:01

This bloody cold has got worse.. I thought in my wisdom that I would be able to do L1 today with just breathing through my nose however no such luck!! I am literally dying, and all I want to do is eat biscuits and drink tea... Help me someone to feel better!!!

twinkle183 · 04/05/2010 20:03

Mention breathing through my mouth!!!!

twinkle183 · 04/05/2010 20:07

Tortoise · 04/05/2010 20:59

Hope you feel better soon twinkle.

I have a headache but trying to psyche myself up to do the DVD!

twinkle183 · 04/05/2010 21:18

I feel your pain, good luck!! I hope to be better tomorrow

Tortoise · 04/05/2010 21:53

All done. Took me a while to find the oomph to get on with it!
My neck is aching so i think i need to be careful how i am doing crunches. Must be straining my neck.
So tired now!

CelticBanshee · 04/05/2010 21:55

Have yourself a hot Whiskey Twinkle, knock that cold right out of ya

Did day 1 today, great workout! Was a big smug starting off as I do quite a lot of exercise but I was pumpin sweat after 10 minutes!! Good instructions too, although it's a good thing you can mute her as I'm sure it would get a bit boring otherwise!

Hope all the shredders are good!!

CatJosephine · 04/05/2010 23:07

Hi all, may I join the cult? my DVD arrived today. I will start tomorrow evening. I am extremely unfit and overweight.

PurpleFrog · 04/05/2010 23:07

Well....

I unwrapped my DVD....

AND

found my weights

AND

did day 1 Level 1

I must admit I hadn't intended to, but got home to discover dd had been invited to a friend's house for tea. I thought it was a good chance to try it out without her laughing at me or taking the mick from the corner!

I think I will suffer tomorrow .... my weights are 1.5kg and a few of the exercises would have been less killing better with slightly lighter weights!

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 04/05/2010 23:20

So, before I go ahead and order this baby, I want to know the effect it's had on the old derrieres.

As I said above, I'm only about 1/2 st 'overweight', and my measurements are probably reasonable, but my arse needs lifting by a good 3 inches.

How do you rate my chances?

mummytotwins · 05/05/2010 02:37

Day 9 level 1 done, I still cannot do the first bit of cardio all the way through without stopping though (the jumping jacks, jumprope, jumping jack, jumprope) its the only place I have to stop but its always there lol!!!

Watched level 2 to prepare myself!! looks hard but not as bad as I was expecting though I am sure in 2 days when I have done it I will be on here puffing and panting!!!

Good luck all those starting! its seriously addictive x

Joby1970 · 05/05/2010 08:13

rubyx3: yes you do level one (usually for approx 10 days - but whatever suits you) & then on to level 2 & so on.

Celticbanshee: you'll get to love her little saying lol.

Ourlady: there's lots of lunges & squats so I think it should lift your arse a bit at least lol.

LostGirl · 05/05/2010 08:22

Yes OurLady, if you concentrate on getting really low in all the squats so that you feel it in in your backside rather than your quads then this will have a wondrous effect!
