Anyone else doing 30 day shred?

I heard lots about it and got the dvd. I'm on day 2 and can feel my muscles aching!
I'm trying to combine it with a diet too.

Is anyone else doing this/thinking of doing it?

I'd love to know what is it about this DVD that makes people "enjoy" exercise...it's very odd.

I also love some of the things she says in the dvd "this'll take the place of hours of phoning it in at the gym" & "you should feel like you'r gargarling your heart"

Tortoise · 29/04/2010 12:07

omydarlin Not useless at all. Cuddle time is so lovely.

I laugh near the end when she says 'breathe'! Oh thanks i forgot i needed to breathe!

Squidmission · 29/04/2010 12:39

Ah don't feel bad omydarlin. That cuddle time was v. important but that doesn't mean you slack off for the rest of the day! ()

I feel a bit run down today so I didn't shred this morning. I'll see how I feel later and maybe do it when the kids go to bed.

How much harder is level 2? I feel i need to do something to make up for missing yesterday especially as i had some chocolate and an ice cream!!

Squidmission · 29/04/2010 13:02

I think its much harder the first time you do it but it got easier after I learnt to coordinate myself.

I think Level 2 has one of the hardest moves on it the chair squat with v raise (near the end) - that kills me everytime!

Squidmission · 29/04/2010 13:14

I think the hardest is that one legged one!
I keep wobbling all over the place.

Joby1970 · 29/04/2010 13:17

squid: I like that one - I've done it in my boxfit class with 6kg weights - showing off emoticon

Tortoise · 29/04/2010 13:19

Oooh i'm not good on one leg! May give it a go just to see what it is like. Need a bit of variety.

notyummy · 29/04/2010 13:22

joby - I agree that squat and v raise is a killer - I have different weights that I use depending on the exercise and on that one I have to go the lowest ones!

justaminute · 29/04/2010 14:44

I got a bit de-motivated the first time I did Level 2. I think it was because after 10 days of Level 1 I knew what I was doing and felt like I was doing it well. But on the first day of Level 2 I was all over the place. I was trying to do too much... watch the moves, attempt them myself and breath , far too much multi skilling involved!!

Tonight will be day 10 of Level 2 so I'm bracing myself for Level 3.

I like the one legged move too - I feel really in control and smug cos I don't (usually) wobble like Natalie does.HA!
Only 1.5kg weights though - hats off to joby - you and lostgirl are fast becoming my idols

LostGirl · 29/04/2010 14:58

Good luck with level 3 justaminute, I loathed that one with a passion, far too much jumping involved for my liking , although I don't think the abs or arm stuff is as bad as level 2.

twinkle183 · 29/04/2010 15:30

Am having a day off today as I have college tonite and am exhausted!! But will resume tomorrow with L2 and a 50 minute power walk..

Don't feel bad if you miss a session just work a little bit harder and longer!!! I find those army raises with one leg hard aswell, they kill my shoulders!!! But I love it cos I know it's working...

Oh and loved the comment about the fat flapping.... Lol it motivates me as well!

Joby1970 · 29/04/2010 16:08

as for level 3 I still don't do the jumping lunges - far to much coordination for me!! True on the abs tho - seems easy on the abs compared to the others. Oh & the rock star jumps look easy & aren't!

coo _ I've never been an idol before - idle maybe lol

my fave bit on lvl 3 (I think) is the dumbell clean - that one is easy & I use my 5kg kettlebell for it.

trumpton · 29/04/2010 20:18

Day 1 of level 2 today......I was sweating ,it was rolling down my face. It's so so strange how much I am enjoying it. My new weights arrived today so I did level 2 with 1.5kg weights . My energy levels are way up as well.

No, there's not too much jumping at all in levels 1 and 2, you have to pretend to skip on the spot etc, it's in level 3 where you do jumping squats and jumping lunges which is tough, but as Joby says, you can just substitute regular squats and lunges for them. I don't think there is an easy alternative for the rock star jumps at the end (jump up and bring your heels behind you to your bottom), I never managed to achieve anything close to resembling them, just tried to get both feet off the floor at the same time! Even when you are doing the jumping exercises it's not for long as the intervals are so short.

LostGirl · 29/04/2010 20:29

I've just done my weights and 15 minutes HIIT... and dh is out buying as a takeaway, not quite the best way to round off the workout!

Well at least you have a good excuse, I just avoid them because they are too hard

Squidmission · 29/04/2010 21:04

I still feel ill so no shred for me today.

Trumpton I had sweat dripping off my face too. It felt very satisfying knowing how effective it is. That has never happened to me before when I've exercised!

I may try 25 sit ups before bed.

Ruby, it is high impact. Jumping jacks, skipping, lots of squats which are hard on the knees.

mummytotwins · 29/04/2010 23:54
