Anyone else doing 30 day shred?

I heard lots about it and got the dvd. I'm on day 2 and can feel my muscles aching!
I'm trying to combine it with a diet too.

Is anyone else doing this/thinking of doing it?

Well done mummytotwins. I lost 3 1/2lbs last week too. Glad i'm not the only one to leave it so late at night to exercise.

mummytotwins · 26/04/2010 22:59

I wont do it when anyone is around, the babies would get under my feet and my DH would pass comment, only the dog saw, he got a bit excited and tried to join in though lol!!

LostGirl · 27/04/2010 07:08

Hi mummytotwins, I did the complete thirty days in January. I don't weigh myself but I did lose inches, especially around my waist, my shoulders became much more defined, began to get some arm definition and my stomach really flattened out. Give yourself a month before you retake your photos and measure yourself, you will really notice a difference then.

Joby1970 · 27/04/2010 07:56

Mummytotwins : I've done the full 30 days too. Didn't lose masses of weight but really got fitter & toned up with definition in the stomach area, arms & shoulders plus people kept telling me I looked a lot slimmer! I can't recommend the Shred enough.

LostGirl · 27/04/2010 08:14

What do you do now Joby?

Joby1970 · 27/04/2010 09:08

LostGirl - still do odd days of Shred. But I have now been motivated to join a gym I enjoy the classes there. This week have done
Mon: Body Pump (exercising with weights)
Tues: BoxFit (circuit training like a boxer)
Wed: Shred
Thur: Boxfit (as above)
Fri: Spinning & Abs
Sat: Spinning
Sun: Day of rest!

What do you do?

omydarlin · 27/04/2010 11:01

Oohh Joby1970 yyou are so fit!!! Well done you!

Well everyone i have not done day 3 today i achedso much yesterday i was doing muscle rub and my arm that got bitten has swollen up to wice its size !! If i can I will fit in tonight when I get home from work but they are all due back at 6 and like Tortoise and mummytotwins i dont liek doing it when anyones around. Need to get more kit as my others still drying!!

Joby1970 · 27/04/2010 12:35

its funny I'll only do my shred in front of either my mother or my mate who does it too. lol

Tortoise · 27/04/2010 12:44

I wait until kids are in bed too. My Brother is in the room but to busy playing on PC to take much notice! Smallest dog does tend to get under my feet!

LostGirl · 27/04/2010 12:50

Wow Joby, how fit are you??? I'm now following a weight training programme. I really liked the muscle definition I began to get from doing the shred and heard about a book which has a 6 month weight training plan. I'm six weeks in and am on the way to getting the arms and abs I've alway longed for

twinkle183 · 27/04/2010 13:08

Thats great LostGirl!

Am happy with the way my body is changing already.. yesterday I did the shred l2 and power walk/run... but am thinking my shins could do with a rest but will see how I feel later... trying to allow my body to heal and have two days off a week!

Have noticed a big change in my fitness which is great... so I will keep going!

Thanks for all my tips on food by the way.. went shopping today and managed to get lots of fruit and veg to eat!So hopefully thanks to you guys I'll be on the way to getting to the weight that I want!

Joby1970 · 27/04/2010 13:10

Lost girl - is that the one you mentioned on another thread? New rules of weight lifting for women?

Don't know if I'm that fit. I would like some more muscle definition too - that's partly why I'm doing the spinning ( for cardio to burn the fat) & boxfit (for abs & arms & cardio) only just added the body pump this week - still undecided on that or just to do weights in the gym.

I still love shred tho & miss Jillian if I don't do it now & again.

I found a fab link tho here www.freedieting.com/tools/body_fat_calculator.htm - I weigh more than I look (so I'm told) & I was wondering if I have heavy bones (body type is an endomorph) so was checking my body fat % according to the link it says I'm extra lean...don't know about that but it did cheer my day up lol.

justaminute · 27/04/2010 13:11

Joby - you've been well and truly bitten by the exercise bug! - You too Lostgirl.

twinkle183 · 27/04/2010 13:18

I may try that joby and see what it says about me as I have such a tiny frame but don't look 11st 4lbs... am working on getting to 8st 7lbs by September!! I hope I can do it...

I am completely addicted to exercise and am not ashamed to admit it...! I feel bad if I don't go and have a day off to repair...

Fridays are my busiest and I love them.. shred and 2.5 mile power walk/run I do it on my heart rate monitor making sure it is in fat burning zone and then I go zumba... am loving the amount of energy I get from it... also it gets rid of the stress

LostGirl · 27/04/2010 13:19

Yes, that's the one Joby, I love the tag line of the book; 'Lift like a man, look like a goddess!'. You don't need to be fit to start it, stage one only takes about 30 minutes (3 times a week) and you can start off just using your bodyweight for the exercises, then add on the weights as you get stronger. I was really dubious at first from dropping down from exercising everyday to just lifting 3 times a week and NO cardio, but it's working. Congratulations on being 'extra lean' !

Joby1970 · 27/04/2010 13:35

twinkle183: I have a big frame & an hour glass figure 38-28-38 am 5 foot 5 & weight approx 11 stone 5. However I can wear size 10 - 12 clothes. I really don't mind what the scales say as long as I'm happy with the way I look. I think therre are lots of people on this site that beat themselves up over the way they look - positive attude works wonders. I think I was a child the last time I weighed 8 st 7lbs lol

I'm addicted to exercise too..tho if you'd have told me that a year ago I would have laughed in your face.

Lost girl: The book looks interesting not sure if I could go without the cardio tho..but I like the idea of lifting bigger weights.

LostGirl · 27/04/2010 13:43

It's amazing how much difference lifting weights can make to your cardio. I went for a run last week, just to see how I would do. I hadn't run for over a year and then I never did more than 2 miles on a treadmill but I managed 4 miles.

Twinkle it sounds like you are doing really well. Try and forget about your target being 8stone 7lbs, and just concentrate on getting to a point where you feel confident in yourself. Like Jody says, the numbers on a scale can often be deceiving.

cyteen · 27/04/2010 14:36

Day 4 (I think?) completed here. I'm not shredding religiously every day, just whenever I can. Also have an allotment so get some gardening exercise at least once a week; as well as that and the zumba, I walk everywhere and spend a lot of time lugging a 2st toddler around, which is a workout in itself

Like a lot of you, I seem quite heavy for my size - 5'4", 10.5st, size 12 (mostly). I think I am quite muscly from all the walking etc., or perhaps I just have big bones Either way, I too just aim to be happy with the way I look and feel rather than driving for a particular size or weight.

notyummy · 27/04/2010 15:04

DH and I 'shred' together! DD runs around out of range of the swinging dumbbells.... He will only do it if I am doing levels 1 and 2 one after another as he reckons its too girly and easy otherwise . We have 5 kg, 3kg and 1.5 kg weights. He uses the 5 and I use the 3....unless we are on the squats and v raises or side lunges with arm raises - then we both trade down a level!

twinkle183 · 27/04/2010 16:10

I think upon reading all your comments that maybe your right about the whole weight thing and that maybe I should do it until I like what I see in the mirror...

I am really grateful to this thread you make me wanna be a better person and be happy with myself!!!

Thanks Girls

trumpton · 27/04/2010 19:08

Day 5 done. I have a little notebook that I am writing down how each day feels to me. Definately getting easier . Using 2kg weights. Will do 7 days on level one then move up.

Squidmission · 27/04/2010 21:03

Ah Twinkle what a lovely thing to say. I find motivation in this thread too.

Did no one else look at my links above? I found those before and afters really motivating.

No shred for me today. Will be back to it tomorrow.

Good going everyone. Keep at at!

GoldenSnitch · 27/04/2010 21:05

I've been rubbish. Missed about 5 days now and very annoyed with myself because I won't have done the 30 days by my birthday now.

Did run again tonight though.

Really busy day tomorrow too so I'm still not sure I'm going to be able to find the time

Tortoise · 27/04/2010 21:42

Day 3 completed !
Push up were nigh on impossible tonight. I just couldn't hold my own weight up especially after doing the squat arm raises thingies in between push ups!
My calves really hurt while doing jumping jacks and skip rope. But i pushed on through it and kept going.

Love this thread. It is keeping me going.

Tortoise · 27/04/2010 22:01

Goldensnitch You must be able to find 20 mins? I couldn't do this but could you get up 20 min earlier and do it then? Surprising how quickly the 20 mins passes once you start.
