Anyone else doing 30 day shred?

I heard lots about it and got the dvd. I'm on day 2 and can feel my muscles aching!
I'm trying to combine it with a diet too.

Is anyone else doing this/thinking of doing it?

I have just ordered new weights from Amazon as have been using 2kg weights that are supposed to fit on a bar ( ie look like this shape ) and they are hard to hold and hurt my hands and I think I might throw them through the television which would not be a good idea.

notyummy · 25/04/2010 22:42

Anyone on level 3 yet??

Joby1970 · 26/04/2010 08:26

notyummy - I've done level 3 - why?

notyummy · 26/04/2010 08:45

Just intrigued to see how other people find it I suppose! I have done it a few times, although I am not following the programme as such - already fairly fit and was recommended the Shred (on Mumsnet!) as a good challenging workout.

I have done the 3 on its own, but tend to do 1 and 2 together, one after the other.

poshtottie · 26/04/2010 09:50

I was hoping to get back to it today but have an appointment at chiropractor at 11 instead.

All that dancing at the weekend and felt fine then bent over this morning and it is killing me.

Don't think the shred caused it but the high impact is not helping.

livvylouis · 26/04/2010 09:53

Not shredded over the weekend , but have walked about 6 miles over the two days. Gonna get back on track today!

justaminute · 26/04/2010 10:15

Omydarlin Well done for taking a before photo. I really wish I'd done that. I'm now halfway through the Shred but definitley not halfway towards the body I want - i think I'm in for the long haul!

I didn't take my measurements until Day 8, I measured again today and sadly there has been no change but I can feel muscles working so I'm hoping for a miraculous effect over the next 15 days

Squidmission hats off to you and well done to your dh for noticing. I'm sure my arms are getting more toned but when I asked Dh he gave a very non commital "hmmm...maybe".

omydarlin · 26/04/2010 10:57

Day 2 done! I am v proud of myself as I had the perfect excuse not to do it as some little insect blighter has bitten me 3 times on the arm ( the one I pulled yesterday) and it is very uncomfortable and painful. I do ache a bit and really sweated it out ? I am so unfit and feel like an old lady in some ways in others I feel really sprightly ? my mind is clear feel a bit cheerier etc etc . I?m considering stretching this over 3 months ? im not sre though ? im concerned about what to do when the months up we will see when im ready to move up a level!! I di read somewhere someone had done that with cool results.

Joby1970 · 26/04/2010 12:05

I still do odd days of the Shred - but for me its motivated me to buy a (local authority ) gym membership. I now feel fit enough to go & am not scared of exercise lol

poshtottie · 26/04/2010 16:34

Well I have to bow out of this thread. Saw the chiropractor and have damaged a ligament in my back. 12 weeks recovery

Also said I should cut out caffeine, wine and chocolate. That might be going too far!

Shouldn't take painkillers either apparantly as are toxic.

Can still walk though. Thankfully.

Joby1970 · 26/04/2010 16:40

Poshtottie : Oh no! - Wish you welll on your recovery - see you in 12 weeks lol

twinkle183 · 26/04/2010 19:12

poshtottie i find it hard to believe that painkillers are toxic???? If they are why are there loads on the open market... i do know there is caffeine in them believe it or not!!!

Shred again today on level 2 and then did a power walk/run today and managed 2.5 miles.... am loving the exercise but am struggling with food... Could do with some help???

Any takers????

poshtottie · 26/04/2010 20:13

twinkle, well the chiro is a bit alternative I guess.

I went to the gp and he has given me codeine which I will probably take whilst it is this bad though am having a glass of wine tonight.

Hope to be back before 12 weeks though so will do some powerwalking as soon as it is a bit better. Will keep up the push ups aswell.

poshtottie · 26/04/2010 20:15

twinkle, what the problem with the food?

twinkle183 · 26/04/2010 20:20

I just don't know what I am doing where what to eat is... I know that sounds funny but am struggling with eating the good stuff and not the naughty!!!

I have never had to diet before...

notyummy · 26/04/2010 20:33

Twinkle - need lots of protein (chicken/fish) to fill you up with veggies and salads. No pots - or just a couple of tiny new pots. Soups good for that as well. No crisps in the house! Little bit of dark choc for a treat.

poshtottie · 26/04/2010 20:35

So you are trying to lose weight now?

Maybe keep a food diary for a week and be honest write down everything that put in your mouth and how you felt at the time eg: hungry, bored, premenstrual etc.

Drink lots and lots of water as sometimes when dehydrated we mistake it for hunger.

Tortoise · 26/04/2010 20:36

Poshtottie - Oh no, hope you are back to it soon.

Going for day 2 in a bit! Not too achey today.

twinkle183 · 26/04/2010 20:49

Am trying to loose weight! Need to loose 3 stone post baby weight!

Thanks

Squidmission · 26/04/2010 21:10

Poshtottie sorry about your back. What an annoyance. Hoping you have quick recovery.

Twinkle try to eat protein with every meal, especially breakfast. I think that really helps to control the desires to pick at food. Also see if you can eat 3 portions of fruit a day. If you eat fruit for a snack before you eat junk, you may not feel like eating the junk.

I have just done level 2. OMG what a killer. My legs were really wobbly by the end. I had the same view about the stomach exercises as others here but I'm sure I'm going to feel them tomorrow!

Thanks guys i really appreciate your advice!!!

Tortoise · 26/04/2010 22:12

Done day 2 . The push ups are really hard even doing it the easy way. I can't get as low as they do yet. Hopefully will get better. My calf hurt this time.

mummytotwins · 26/04/2010 22:42

Phew! just done day 1 level 1 wow!!! I knew I was unfit but blimey!!!

I was brave and got my DH to take my photos and all my measurements and have made a note of them and am going to redo it weekly, I am also doing weight watchers alongside it, first weigh in today and I lost 3.5lbs last week with no excercise so hope this helps me get fit and slim by the summer!!

Has anyone managed the complete programme? what were your results like?
