What can i do? I'm still bf'ing but am desperate to lose weight - any ideas???

5inthebed · 03/03/2010 19:16

Chellie, you can't do it while BF afaik. Maybe it would be worth calling a CDC near you and ask?

I am on SS+, rather than the SS one as I felt that giving up food completely would be far harder for me. Hasn't hindered my weight loss at all.

Numberfour · 03/03/2010 19:24

5inthebed, i am not sure that i can last on SS alone for more than a day or so!!!

I see from the introductory booklet that you are usually advised to cut down on carbs for a few days leading up to starting CD and that you usually work your way down to SS. Any thoughts, anyone? my counsellor has put me straight on SS (well, she did not force me but did not dissuade me either)

5inthebed · 03/03/2010 20:09

Is this your first day Numberfour?

SS is usually the one people go on, but you can alo go on SS+ which is either 4 packs a day, of 3 and a 200 cal meal. Did you get the book, as it tells you what you can eat in there. If not, I can type them here for you. You can go between the two if you feel hungrier some days.

I only managed SS for one day, it is far too hard, and SS+ keeps me on track.

Purplebuns · 03/03/2010 20:20

Chelliebellie, you can do slimming world, AFAIK you just get more allowance on dairy products site here I have been thinking of doing it. I too came on this thread, to find out your answers

Numberfour · 03/03/2010 20:26

Yes, 5, it's my first day today and i am ravenous! i see from your post that 4 packs a day is SS+ so that is what i am on. Yes, i have the CD booklet and the SS one, too.

Let's see what tomorrow brings!

5inthebed · 03/03/2010 20:34

If you're 5'8 or taller, then 4 packs is the right amount on SS. Unless you're that height

I'd ditch the 4th packet and have a meal instead then, if thats what you feel you need to do. I felt better eating something.

Day 2 and 3 were the worst for me, but by day 4 you should be in ketosis and you will feel much better. Really you will!

letsdoittogether · 03/03/2010 20:47

Hi there! If you can cope today, just do something else and tomorrow will be easier and by the end of day 3 it'll be a doddle...seriously!

If after the three days, on day 4 you decide, nope.I can't SS then head onto an additional 200 cal high protein meal but at least give yourself the chance.

It just comes off that bit quicker though in the end, it is the keeping it off that matters and so you need to do whatever you can to stick to it on the whole. If you have a tough moment, don't give up fir the rest of the day too...calorifically, it'll still be a low day so never be too tough on yourself. xx

thanks, 5 and lets.

how were your days? did you do okay?

just about ready for bed so i have made day one!

5inthebed · 03/03/2010 21:56

Well done for making it through day 1!

Like I said day 2 and 3 will be your worst, but by day 4 you will feel great.

Numberfour · 04/03/2010 09:24

morning!

my coat is a little looser than yesterday morning (yes yes yes i know it is only water and only day 2, but i feel so positive)

i am feeling less anxious today than yesterday about hunger!

hope you are all going to have good days, too!

5inthebed · 04/03/2010 09:33

Good for you! My clothes were noticably looser by the end of the first week.

Hope you have a good day everyone. I've woke with a banging headache.

Numberfour · 04/03/2010 13:25

wonder how letsdoit is doing???

5inthebed · 04/03/2010 20:03

How is everyone getting on?

Numberfour · 04/03/2010 20:05

struggling a bit tonight.

best make it an early to bed night.

Numberfour · 04/03/2010 20:06

how are things with you, 5?

5inthebed · 05/03/2010 12:18

I still had a really bad head, so went to bed early. Feeling ok today though, so onwards and upwards. Doing great today with it, not hungry at all.

How are things?

Numberfour · 05/03/2010 17:34

i started off guns blazing and then started feeling awful round about 1ish. had some green tea with mint, half a pint of water and then brought it all up! Yuck.

i am going to have a tin of tuna now. i think i will move on to SS+ completely because on day 3 now, i am struggling!

what day are you on now, 5inthebed?

5inthebed · 05/03/2010 20:07

I am doing great today, really struggled yesterday for some reason.

I'm on SS+, prefer it to SS, don't know how anyone can stay on that for ages.

Mix some cucumber in with the tuna, makes it crunchy and nice.

I've had haddock with broccoli tonight, while my family had homemade mince and onion pie, mashed potato, gravy and veg. I made it all myself as well. The urge to eat the food wasn't there today.

Well done for getting to day three though without caving! Day three was my worst, so hopefully you'll feel better tomorrow.

When do you get weighed?

Numberfour · 05/03/2010 20:50

i get weighed Tuesday evening. i am really looking forward to it!!

i also had some broccoli tonight. i must admit that having something in my stomach has made me feel lots better. i would usually be finishing off a bottle of wine by now on a Friday night. so instead i rang a friend and asked her if she had some wool so i could do some knitting to keep my mind off the wine!

working v well so far.

yes, i will rather do 3 packs plus a green and white meal. much much better!

nearly finished day 3 and i am as pleased as punch with myself.

5inthebed · 05/03/2010 21:09

Saturday night is usually my wine night. Really missed it last week.

Glad you're feeling better, makes a difference having a little meal doesn't it!

letsdoittogether · 06/03/2010 07:17

Hi! Not been around...sorry. You seem to be doing well too
Had a nightmare first three days that really can't count as was given a meal out by a friend as a surprise for helping her out on day 2 after doing day one successfully and then yesterday, ended up being stuck at work with no meals from 7-7 so ate protein. Even so, am 17.11 this morning! So another proper day 1 looms but not bothered by it. Know I want to give SS a go so will try and also remember to always have some shakes in the car!!

Day 4
start weight 17.13
current weight 17.11
lost -2
size18/20 squeeze!!

Meant to mention....friend not being mean and trying to scupper plans as I have not told them I am back on this. It was all they ever talked about before so I am doing it on the quiet and then I'll see if they say anything!
Last year, most said nothing as I lost sizes and did try to sabotage me at every corner. They are big too you see...The friends who encouraged me were the normal weight ones but it did drive me round the bend when I was constantly getting my weight loss mentioned in the street by people I hardly knew as it made me feel very self conscious. This often led to a few day's of difficulties. This time, I am going to talk about it less and just smile and say thanks and not have to go into it constantly.

Jan 09 I was 22st and a size30 and last summer had gone to 15st and a size16 so I am just desperate for the 3 st back off as I have a wardrobe of 16's I can't wear!!!!!

Then I'll progress onto a 12. The jump was soooooo huge from a 30 to a 16 and I felt like I was looking at someone else in the mirror but this time, the change won't be so abrupt.
stick with it ladies!!!

OP posts:
5inthebed · 06/03/2010 08:36

Wow, 30 to 16 is an amazing jump! Well don for getting back on it after a few hiccupy days though

letsdoittogether · 06/03/2010 08:42

The thing is it was great but I found the attention too much having been at least a 26-30 for the last 10 years. Trying to save an otherwise good marriage is spurring me on. He finds it difficult as is so fit and into health and when big like this, I feel too frumpy to go out and don't join him in anything. I had the confidence at a 16 and know I can be there again within 10 weeks so I need to be focused. Then the jump to a 14 then 12 won't be so daunting.
Anyhow, off for a shower, housework and an ice cream shake at 9.45 so I need to get my skates on! Catch up with you all later.
Have good days. xxx
