A stone by Easter challenge!

redshoesnoknickers · 21/02/2010 07:17

Well half term is over, back to school tomorrow and Spring is in the air...time to get rid of the winter flab methinks!

I weigh 11 stone and want to be 10 by Easter (and ultimately around the 9 stone 7-10 mark) - six weeks to do 14lbs doable I think?

My reward will be lovely shopping for summer clothes.

My plan is to do HM smoothie or cereal breakfast, Soup or salad lunch and "normal" healthyish dinner (but watch the portion size on carbs. I will be trying to drink lots of water and less coffee/alcohol and exercising 3 x per week (prob be running but am considering joining a gym!!)

So anyone who fancies joining me feel free

Today: Strawb and yog smoothie/prawn salad/shepherds pie and brocolli. Might run later if it ever stops RAINING!!

Great minds ...PlumBumMum!

QueenofDreams · 24/02/2010 17:06

hi ladies.
Not doing well today really. Once again I did not have breakfast. Have had a boiled egg and 1 slice of toast for lunch. Now snacking on 1 small bowl of muesli, as I need something to eat.
Have been shopping today though, so hopefully will do better tomorrow
weighed myself today at the leisure centre, and it's worse than I thought. BMI is 32.2 I'm 5"2.5 and weigh 12stone 11. NOT GOOD!
I figure this first stone will be a good start - get me down from obese range into simply 'overweight'.

PlumBumMum · 24/02/2010 18:02

Queenofdreams I'm making potato topped chiken pie and cauliflower cheese for dinner
(abit too much creamy sauces) but it isfreezing and the snow is making me want some comfort food

Realy hope I get shopping tomorrow as no healthy snacks in

MumGoneCrazy · 24/02/2010 18:57

Does anyone know which of these would be better to eat -

Tesco healthy living range
Asda good fr you range
Weight watchers range

Im having cottage pie tonight
Unfortunately its a frozen one
God i miss my cooker

Oh and someone needs to come to my house and remove anything tempting...I ate 4 jaffa cakes one after the other earlier

Im so not helping myself

redshoesnoknickers · 24/02/2010 19:16

There are some microwave cook from scratch recipes here

I would have thought any of those ranges is as good as the other. I don't use the microwave much but I do know you can buy frozen rice in sachets to microwave that are nice and v. easy if you just want a portion compared to boiling/steaming.

Jaffa cakes are not too bad - don't worry

QueenofDreams · 24/02/2010 19:41

Oooh plumbum your dinner sounds good. I think we're going to have salmon for ours tonight. DP won't be back till about 8.30 though so I've got to sit on my hands and suppress hunger pangs till then.

duckyfuzz · 24/02/2010 19:41

jaffa cakes are the best biscuits on a diet

well done mumoverseas

sorry tohear about tonsilitis twinkle, I used to get it alot, its horrid - I found I stopped getting it when I didn't bother taking anything and it seemed to cure itself, btu I didn't have kids to deal with then so it was easier to be indulgent!

I have period pain, v bloated tum and woudl love to stuff my face with all manner of rubbish, so I might go to bed early to stop myself!

Not a bad day so far, muesli, salad, lots of fruit, small piece of cheesecake at a meeting, will have some soup in a mo

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 24/02/2010 19:55

QOD - your eating sounds v restrained to me! Well done DuckyFuzz

I had been good all day (Davina x2, soup for lunch and tuna burger and sald for dinner)and then the Jaffa Cake Fairy struck here too and I ate one as opposed to chocolate fingers. Less calorific that strawberry cables though!

Feel fat and bloated here too - how can that be when I've hardly eaten anything and exercised like a demon?

simmo39 · 24/02/2010 21:14

Ooh please can I join? I don't like Jaffa cakes though (will that go against me?)
Been doing pretty well on my Go Lower LC carb diet, so far have lost a stone in 1 month but still have 4 1/2 stone to go
Need motivation to stick with it and would love to loose at least another stone by Easter, it is my 40th birthday too then, god why do they bring out the Easter eggs so early?
Am trying really hard to avoid the chocoalte aisle, but the crafty bast*s at Tescos have stuck them at the end of the asiles too to taunt me!!
So my weight from Monday was 13 stone 7Lbs and am only 5ft 4.5 inches (that half inch is very important!)

lavenderbongo · 24/02/2010 23:00

Hi all! Redshoes that is a great website - I particularly like the 5min chocolate Pud - but thats not appropriate at the mo so I will put all my willpower into avoiding it!

Its been a pretty good day so far.

Fruity cereal
4 rice cakes, slice of ham + cheese
baked potato, 2 boiled eggs and bit of mayo.
pineapple slice.

I dont think thats too bad but wasnt able to walk to school this morning as we have been having a few thunder storms. But i did manage to do my daily yoga and wii fit stint.

SciFiFan · 25/02/2010 09:03

Morning all. Well tomorrow is weigh day for me so I need to be really good today .

Thanks for the BMI calculator duckyfuzz though I know what you mean about it being depressing. My BMI was 25.96 which I though was OK but I didn't like the size of the woman they showed or the graph it linked too. V depressing!

plumbummum there are some sites on-line with free exercise videos. I've come across one so far with pilates. If you put pilates or yoga in the search box it comes up with videos of various exercises. Good way to try things without the expense of buying the DVDs.

redshoesnoknickers · 25/02/2010 09:25

Morning all - weigh day tomorrow! Eeek!

Today will be fruit smoothie/hummus salad/falafel salad and pitta with yoghurt dressing

Will be at mums this afternoon so a biscuit or a little bit of cake may also creep in there

Have a good day everyone

just had ready brek mixes with semi skimmed milk classed as my healthy "a"and"b" on slimming world, and 2 jaffas so thats some of my sins gone already

SciFiFan · 25/02/2010 13:37

I'm posting on here my intention to go for a long walk at 2.30 before I have to pick DS1 up.

My reason for posting is it will hopefully stop me from making up an excuse when 2.30 comes around and not doing it! Hold me to it girls!

twinkle183 · 25/02/2010 14:14

Hi ya girlies...

I am so proud of all of you... everyone is doing so well, its great!!

Should be able to go for a run later as I am feeling tons better today...!

Had shredded wheat with a banana and skimmed milk for breakfast and then a tomato and mushrom omlette with beetroot for lunch.. had 2 litres of water so far! For tea am not so sure what to have but as I have college this evening it'll probably have to be a ww's meal put in the oven while running when I get home!!!

Wish me luck....

Go on SciFiFan You know your feel better after the exercise and you could also say to yourself that if you do it you can have something naughty.. that way it cancels out the sin.... It works for me!!! Think of the afterburn which last 24 hours after exercise!!

SciFiFan · 25/02/2010 15:25

So I opened the front door to find it was p*ssing down with rain...but I was not detered . I went anyway and got absolutely drenched.

I kept telling myself if I could go for a walk in this weather it would make it so much easier to go when it's sunny.

Anyhow I've just got home and changed into some warm and dry clothes and am feeling really happy that I made the effort. Here's hoping it pays off on the scales tomorrow. I'll let you all know.

Well done twinkle re the water. I know I don't drink enough.

SuSylvester · 25/02/2010 15:26

twinkle183 · 25/02/2010 15:48

I knew you could do it!!!

Keep it up ladies

SuSylvester · 25/02/2010 16:25

iw ant some PROGRESS Updates

QueenofDreams · 25/02/2010 17:23

Ooh is that how Su Cs it?
Ladies, I'm doing ok on the eating front today (apart from a bag of crisps )
so 700 calories today
Which was made up of:
muesli
1/2 can of soup
1 slice bread
small bowl stirfry
1 bag crisps.

don't know what I'm having for dinner though.
scifi well done on the walk - the rain here has put me off today. tomorrow I will go walking no matter what!

PlumBumMum · 25/02/2010 17:28

Well done Scifi

Queen I had a mini milky way with my cuppa this afternoon and I'm off to MILs for pizza, and hopefully some salad
and might have a smoothie BIL is always making them

I jumped on the scales today when I got out of the shower but wait until Friday to make sure it wasn't a fluke

What are we doing Friday morning?

Are we not lighter in the morning than at night? suppose it dosen't matter as the weight loss will still be relative

SciFiFan · 25/02/2010 17:30

Do you want us to hold you to it queen?

I'm entering a dangerous time now - I always seem to snack (unhealthily ) at this time of day.

I'm trying to stick to a low-cal hot chocolate drink. It's got to last until 7.00 when I can have my dinner.

QueenofDreams · 25/02/2010 17:57

Yes please sciFi hold me to it!
I am not going to weigh in tomorrow as I weighed on wednesday.
Or maybe I should weigh tomorrow, just to be in sync with everyone else. Can't wait till next friday for my first weigh in.
Might be best, as I take DS to toddler gym on fridays, and that's where the scale is.

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 25/02/2010 19:18

Hello all - we're being sooo good - hopefully it will pay off tommorrow!

Today has been OK but not great - had yoghurt and fruit for brekkie, poached egg on granary toast for lunch and chicken and salad for tea (supplemented by 2 slices of a baguette with butter . Snacked on an apple.

Have done Davina again and will have another go tonight.

Good luck everyone if you are weighing in tommorrow
