OK, new thread for 2010!

My aim is to have lost 2 stone by my Birthday on April 6th! Booking a weeks family holiday for that week and want to feel and look better!

So, weigh in Friday? I always find weekends harder so that would be a good day for me.

Smalline mmm roast dinner soup sounds interesting.
I normally do carrot, onion and leek or leek and potato. Sometime spicy butternut squash. Carrot and coriander is nice as well.

Good luck for 2010!

Hello Tortoise love your nameXmas Grin, it is lovely to see you back, hope you all had a good Christmas.

I'm not going to weigh myself until next week Friday, I'll have had a good 5 days of eating sensibly by then and hopefully it won't be too much of a shockXmas Hmm.

Furball · 30/12/2010 11:21

hey both!

I'm here - skiving from WW as per usual! although I've had some coldy thing and been off my food and even managed to lose 1 lb over christmas! although that has warn off now and I'm eating with gusto Grin

Smalline · 02/01/2011 11:38

Happy New Year Furball & Tortoise Grin

I did the deed yesterday and weighed myself, have put on 3lbs over the festive season which I don't think is too bad myself, that takes me to 12st 6lbs.

How did you both do?

SproutsMakeTortoiseFart · 04/01/2011 22:42

ooh 3lbs is nothing, well done.
I keep putting it off! Will aim to weigh myself in the morning. Not shreded yet but i have a cough and cold so not a good idea to do the shred DVD. I would collapse in a wheezy coughing mess on the floor. Grin

Tortoise · 07/01/2011 21:31

Failing miserably again. I don't know what is wrong with me! I feel so fat and bloated and start out with good intentions then ruin it by eating crisps/chocolate. Even had a pretty healthy tea which was chicken wrapped in foil with garlic, onion, carrot and potato cooked in the oven.
Then spoiled that by having a bag of crisps and 3 club bars Sad. Already had 2 club bars at about 5.30 plus some bourbon biscuits.

Still have no idea how much i weigh and haven't shredded. Sad

Getting really Angry with myself for being so crap with food.

Furball · 07/01/2011 21:44

Oh No Tortoise! I don't know what to suggest - Make something healthy (lovely fresh fruit salad, humous and carrot sticks, or a jelly or something) and keep it handy so if you need it, it's there.

I'm in a similar boat - my problem was WW - all that pointing every morsel - I've had enough, it was worse than the diet! I've cancelled my subscribtion today and I'm going back to SW.

Tortoise · 07/01/2011 22:35

Even if the healthy stuff was there ready to eat i would eat something else or even eat that and something else. I am scared what i am doing to myself TBH. The last few months i have basically lived off crisps, chocolate, toast for breakfast, cakes. Rarely have a cooked myself a mean other than when DC are at home because it seems pointless to cook for 1. I don't eat a proper lunch. Gone off sandwiches so i don't know what to have. Soup is ok sometimes.

I do wonder if i am depressed. Maybe i need to bite the bullet and see a doctor? Life just seems a bit crap at the moment and i am fed up trying to do everything alone!

Furball · 08/01/2011 07:37

Sad tortoise

It may be worth going to the docs, they may be able to suggest something? Or even maybe prescribe that alli, where you CAN'T cheat, otherwise you suffer diaraahe diorahha diorrahe grim consequenses

The weather is not helping either and roll that with the anti climax from christmas etc. tis a weird time of year.

We are here as always for you Smile

Tortoise · 08/01/2011 13:58

Thanks Smile. Really don't think i am big enough to need alli. Don't you have to be very overweight for that?

I did weigh myself this morning once i remembered which was after eating 2 pieces of toast and before having a wee! And i am 12st 5lbs Shock. So, whats that, nearly a stone gain?

So far today i have eaten
2 pieces of toast with flora light butter and jam.
2 bourbons (Thankfully the last 2!)
Club.
Snickers duo Blush.
Salt and vinigar Mcoys.

Walked about 2 miles by taking dogs out and popping to the shop.

I may try and post on here more often for a while, see if that helps. Smile
(Do we need a 2011 thread as this one is 2010!)

Furball · 08/01/2011 17:45

tortoise I've never really thought about how overweight you need to be. - Hope I didn't offend you by saying that. Blush

But if you are struggling and going in the opposite direction, it must be something for your doc/you to consider?

I think you can buy it from Boots or wherever but it is about £30 Shock

It may just be the threat your brain needs?

I understand totally and have gone passed the 'putting on a stone phrase' (and actually put on at least 2+) and also have a serious malfunction when at the cupboard. I honestly can eat and eat and eat....

but something will happen inside (as is to me presently) where you just wake up one day and say. right - today is the day I'm going to stop, I'm going to reach for a banana or a satsuma... Smile

We can do this......I mean - how many times have we done it before. but this time lets do it, lets do it for good Smile

Tortoise · 08/01/2011 22:47

No you didn't offend me Smile.
I have lost count how many times i have been here before lol! Not had quite such a bad food day but not brilliant either. I just need to stop and think before i reach for a snack because most of the time i don't really need it.

I was going to shred tonight but can't find the disc! Will have a good look for it tomorrow.

Furball · 10/01/2011 06:54

How are you feeling today?

Smalline · 10/01/2011 10:00

Oops I put on 1lb last week, there was just too much food in the house stillSad.

Was DD's birthday on Saturday so even more cake and chocolates were eaten.

Am aiming to get back on track this weekSmile.

How are you doing Tortoise?

Tortoise · 10/01/2011 10:49

I'm OK today thanks. Managed day 1 shred last night. I had forgotten how bad it is! My legs were shaking and i can't even manage all the easy push ups anymore! Blush
Now if i can just keep that up and eat better i may stand a chance of losing weight!

Any lunch ideas? I have gone off sandwiches and can't find anything i like so i have been eating crisps, choc bar and cake for lunch lately! Will think about making some soup but get bored with that too!

Furball · 10/01/2011 11:24

tortoise Smile

do you need to take lunches to work tortoise? or do you have access to kitchen?

Jacket and beans,

These cous cous fritter sound nice - I nicked it off the cheese thread -

Cous cous made with stock, and grated cheese and softened red onion, bind with a beaten egg and fry (in fry light)

you could do the same with grated potato and have rost cakes - you could also add in anything else you fancy like tomato, etc, could also be eaten cold

tuna pasta salad

Furball · 10/01/2011 11:26

smalline - hello there! Smile

I think a 1 lb on is highly commendable - well done to you. At a very difficult time of year and.....pouff.....next week I'm sure it will be gone again.

Tortoise · 10/01/2011 12:32

Am home all day so can make anything really just no inspiration!
Not had a good start to the day, keep snacking on bad things. I think it is boredom! Trying to do housework/tidying up which i hate. Eating means i can stop and sit down even if it is a cake or choc bar of some sort. Blush

Furball · 10/01/2011 13:24

Ok - what I've started to do (like today) is, I was hungry at 11am, so did a big jacket and beans to fill me up.

it was a bit early for lunch but I am no longer hungry, so won't raid the cupboard for biccies Smile

agree with you about Tidying and cleaning it is totally mind numbingly boring

Tortoise · 10/01/2011 13:40

Thanks, that sounds like a good plan. I have to learn to stop myself eating when i am not hungry which i never do. I just eat when i want which is definately not the way to do it.
Had 2 pieces of jam on toast for lunch.

Smalline · 10/01/2011 14:30

Hi Furball, Cous cous fritters sounds nice, I have just tucked into a huge mug of Heinz Big soup, they are low in fat and hopefully should keep me going.

Lunch ideas, I don't really eat bread during the week I usually have ryvitas, or rice cakes, with various toppings, cheese, salmon & cream cheese, peanut butter, peanut butter & marmite is nice, avocado mashed with some lemon, salt & pepper & chopped red onion, or mashed up tinned mackeral with lemon, black pepper & chopped onion, scrambled egg & bacon with baked beans, homemade bacon & lentil or butternut squash soup yummy!

Smalline · 10/01/2011 14:32

I also find that filling up on protein tends to keep hunger at baySmile.

Tortoise · 10/01/2011 21:21

Not sure if i will do day 2 of shred tonight or not. The pain in my thighs has gradually got worse throughout the day. Stairs are a real killer lol.
Just watching biggest loser on ITV.

Tortoise · 10/01/2011 22:33

I did it! I did it!! Day 2 of shred done. Grin Not sure i will be able to walk tomorrow though.

Does either of you have any gym type equipment at home? I was just looking on the Argos website at cross trainers but not sure if it is worth the money.

Furball · 11/01/2011 06:50

we have a bike thingy and a rower - both unused by me Blush

DH is a keen cyclist and uses them in the winter.

Furball · 11/01/2011 06:50

but well done tortoise for doing the shred Smile good stuff!
