octopus, I had a significant gain last week from not thinking about what I was eating, rebelling against weight watchersWink and this week have stuck to SW to the letter (apart from that bread on Sunday), even gave up wineShockShock, I still have almost 5 stone to lost too, so that's why I think. Don't suppose I'll lost that much in a week again...

mumtoblaire · 18/08/2010 10:27

What to eat instead of toast?

Any ideas? must be quick, able to eat with one hand and ok if gets cold.

janajos · 18/08/2010 14:02

I've been good today, baked potatoes and tuna/cottage cheese and salad for lunch and planned the same for dinner. Snacks yoghurts and I aim to keep to this for as long as poss. When i did SW before this was my staple diet, luckily I love baked pots...

Just seen my holiday photos, if ever I needed inspiration that was it......

Glad of your company

I find it so easy to stick to the plan when I am at work and have set times for eating. Banana at 9.30am, cereal bar at 10.30am, lunch at 12.30pm and then couple of jumbo snackajacks at 2.30am.

At home with young baby I am so busy seeing to her needs that I often find myself going right past lunchtime and forgetting to eat anything and then at 3pm I am making toast again.

I know if I cut down on the carbs I would see a big difference, it's so difficult as my meals revolve around pasta, bread and riceBlush, my protein intake is shocking low...if it wasn't for milk I don't think I would be getting any.

And don't even mention fruit & veg, couldn't tell you the last time I had a bit of fruitShock

I need a giant kick up the bum because I know were I am failing but just don't have the motivation to get going yet.

Argh time to sort myself out methinks!!!

miracled · 18/08/2010 18:54

Hi, I'm a MN newb and have been doing SW for 4 weeks (weigh-in tonight). Up till last week have lost 11.5lbs, not optimisic this week though due to a 'shots' incident at the weekend. I'm doing extra easy and have found Muller Light great for snacking, not sure if thats the sort of toast alternative you wanted to hear!

mumtoblaire · 18/08/2010 19:03

Welcome miracled, well done on your weightloss so far.

Thanks for tip. I did go through a faze of gorging on Muller light vanilla with chocolate sprinklesGrin but had to wean myself off them.

I am now in the mood for a raspberry/cranberry one though, think I may stock up tomorrow.

miracled · 18/08/2010 21:19

Thanks mumtoblaire. I can't believe it but I lost another 2 this week, but I have been really good since Sunday. I do try not to have many syns in the week and save them up for wine. After the shots on Saturday I drunk-dialled a chinese, and where we would normally have something reasonably good with plain boiled rice, I went for the full-on shredded crispy beef! My OH is doing it too but not attending meetings (we use Wii fit to weigh) and he has lost about 10lbs.

Well done miracled - 2lbs off excellentSmile

Used to eat a Mugshot everyday and then read that they were high in salt so stopped eating them. Doesn't help with the weight loss.

Jumbo snackajacks are good but they are 3 syns each and I could easily eat 5 or 6 at a time.

Was thinking of making up fruit snack box to pick at throughout day. Chopped apple, pear, peach, tangerine, strawberries, melon.

Maybe also make up a different salad each day - potato salad, tuna & sweetcorn/pasta, boiled rice/cherry tomato/cucumber, cous cous/peas/sweetcorn.

Might be better than having to stop midday and think right What can I have to eat and how long will it take to make.

Riadingbetweenthelines · 18/08/2010 22:53

fab loss miracledSmile

On EE I have started having HEB as toast with a teaspoon of jam. I am a SAHM so I do have the opportunity to do bacon and egg etc. Lunch today I had bacon, mushrooms and sweetcorn mixed up with leftover pasta, last week I had pasta salad made up in the fridge every day for snacking/lunch, and at the weekend made a roasted squash and pepper soup for snacking. It's not the same as buttered toast though...

had a good day, but tonight not going so well as we got carried away with the gardening and my food organisation has gone to pot.

Riadingbetweenthelines · 18/08/2010 22:54

spicy rice things hit the spot I think, more than pasta TBH. Jambalaya etc. Yum.

mumtoblaire · 19/08/2010 08:08

How to cook the perfect baked potato? I always seem to end up with undercooked or burntConfused.

I worked out that I am walking 3 miles a day, any ideas how I work out what calories I am burning? Walking briskly but not out of breath.

I am 5ft 4" and at the moment 10st 2lb, hoping to drop a stone to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight.

Dazmum · 19/08/2010 10:12

I microwave mine for 10 minutes, or less depending on potato size, then spray with fry light and cook in oven on about 190 for 10 -15 minutes, which gives a crispy outside. Lunch today I think!

mumtoblaire · 19/08/2010 11:48

Hmmm sounds nice. Thanks Dazmum will try tonight. Just in the mood for a nice baked potato

miracled · 19/08/2010 12:55

mumtoblaire, I have been 'walking' on the Wii and am up to about 4000 steps in half an hour, which burns about 160 cals and is supposed to be 2 miles. Not so good at the moment as DS's are at home and want to play Ben 10 on it! I started WW three years ago and lost 4.5 stone but put on about 3 over the last year once I stopped counting points, terrible! I am finding the EE plan quite good though, and easy to stick to, except at weekends it seems! Wine is my downfall.

mumtoblaire · 19/08/2010 14:12

Ahh wineSmile

I have been tea total for almost a year now. While trying to conceive and then during my pregnancy. Wine is also my down fall and since giving birth two weeks ago I still have not had any alcohol due to being on antibioticsSad.

While I am longing for a nice chilled glass of Blossom Hill or a pint of Magners, I do also worry about getting into the habit of having a bottle at the weekend.

I may just wait until my birthday in September and then treat myself to a nice expensive bottle of bubblyGrin.

miracled · 20/08/2010 16:19

A lovely new baby, congratulations! Thats the best reason for not having had wine, pity about the antibiotics though. Going to try and be good this weekend, I can't keep drinking and still losing.

mumtoblaire · 20/08/2010 17:38

Was really good yesterday, no biscuits or cakes. Not that I go out and buy them but visitors keep bringing them.

Went out shopping today and did eat a twirlBlush. I am going to start taking a cereal bar in my bag at all times for emergency "feel faint must eat" moments!

Breakfast - bowl of coco pops with semi-skimmed milk and cup of tea.

mid morning - 2 x slice of wholemeal bread toasted with 2 tbsp margarine and cup of tea.

lunch - 2 x slice of toast with half tin beans & mini sausages and cup of tea.
Slice of lemon drizzle cake.

Twirl and 500ml water.

Macaroni with mince & chopped tomatoes and pint of water.

Going to try and write what I eat as it keeps me on track. Going to Tesco tomorrow to stock up on Slimming World friendly food.

Riadingbetweenthelines · 20/08/2010 21:52

I have to confess I am sick to death of SW food!!

am bulk-cooking for our holiday... DH couldn't tell what was in the pan earlier with everything involving diced peppers, onions, mushrooms, celery and tinned tomatoes...! just the lasagne to put together and a quorn-something to make.

good luck for the weekend!

miracled · 23/08/2010 13:32

Bad weekend as birthday so went to a Thai/chinese restaurant. Tried to choose the healthiest options but had a lot of wine! Has anyone made roast potatoes with spray oil? Surprisingly good results.
