New thread

OP posts:
Ilovemarmite79 · 09/08/2010 22:21

I need to lose weight as T2C. I am doing slimming world alone. Started last Monday which was a bad idea as it was my bday this week and we went out for dinner. Was still good but had some wine and bread as well as not really counting sins (but didn't go mad). Lost 2.2lb so pleased with that - hoping for more next week just hoping the weekend doesn't catch up with me late.

Riadingbetweenthelines · 09/08/2010 22:37

Hi guys. Have had a quick skim of names and don't think i recognise anyone (I used to be "Ria" something), but PLEASE will you allow me back to the thread.

Have lost a stone and a half on WW since March (or so) this year, and that takes me back to where I was this time last yearSad. The half stone seems to thin it's a boomerang thoughHmm

I have lost weight with SW in the past (a stone and a half after DS2 was born), but DS3 is 3 now, and I am looking at another 4 stone at least. It's a bit daunting and I'm bored, so thought I might give SW another try.

Anyway, I hope you'll let me join (I left the thread after "passwordgate"Wink). Well done on the losses I spotted while skimming through. I look forward to sharing some support and laughs along the waySmile

Grinat your boomerang half stone Ria, I have a whole stone-full boomerang too!
Wasn't passwordgate when a mumsnetter linked to slimming world got narky about people telling what the week's password was to the official website?

I know that all fresh fruit is free, but I was watching Biggest Loser USA the other day and they went on about how high in calories bananas were, and that berries are the best fruit and lowest in calories, which I suppose would translate into super speed foods in Slimming World? I know SW is not about calories (thank goodness or I couldn't be bothered to do it!), but I have often wondered about bananas, as someone in my group said she had better results if she didn't have them. I have one a day with my cereal and they certainly add bulk to the meal and keep me fuller for longer, but I may do without and see what happens weightwise. I also read that drinking a glass of water before every meal helps too.(Clutching-at-straws-in-desperation- emoticon)Anyone got any views about the bananas?

Riadingbetweenthelines · 10/08/2010 23:52

that was passwordgate! a lot of other things said at the time too were almost word-for-word quotes that i found in old magazines (I never throw anything awayBlush) and I lost faith in the whole set up. it was quite damaging to the thread and a lot of fab Mnetters leftSad

don't know about bananas TBH, I don't think one a day will harm surely? I know on the Rosemary Conley diet she recommends limiting bananas, and unripe are better than over-ripe.

I start on plan tomorrow (been to Leeds today and was planning fish and chips in Wetherby on the way home, but we ended up somewhere else, just as delicious though). Am planning an EE day - do I have to do EE for the full week or can I change? Also, how does EE work if I fancy some SW chips as a snack? Is that allowed or do I have to have them with meat and veg for it to be ok?

am meant to be downloading the first week of Cto5k onto my MP3 player...

Dazmum · 11/08/2010 09:09

I was wondering where some of the familiar names had gone form this thread. That's a shame, but maybe like you they will come back?

Agree about the bananas, had one this morning!

Are there any FAQs on the SW website about the rules for EE, I was just doing it for one day then red or green the next! I've decided I can't get on with it,(i.e, I am not losing, so sulking instead) and going back to basic red and green.

I think that's probably true octopus, and it's not as if anyone was selling on the password for a profit or anything, in theory we are just the same as people who get together for midweek support outside of their class, it's just not face to face.

Have had a pretty good 1st day - bacon, scrambled egg and mushroons with HEB of toast and some strawberries for breakfast, chicken pasta salad and a banana for lunch, and roast beef for tea. It seems a lot to have eaten really, and hasn't involved too mcuh thought, which is good. Am a bit peckish now, and as DH got called in to work unexpectedly I'm waiting for him to come home, and it's a habit that we usually eat or drink too much on these occasions to make up for general crapness of his job. Will try my best not to fail on day 1! will have to motivate myself and go and prepare that pineapple...

shinybootsofleather · 11/08/2010 22:20

Hey there Riadingbetweenthelines. My understanding is that you can change from red, to green to EE throughout the week as long as you ensure that you spend the entire day on one plan.

Lost 2lbs this week. This was weight loss for 2 weeks as I was sick the week before. Not bad considering I had 2 boozy weekends. How's everyone else been doing? I've been going crazy on the mugshots. Probably too much salt and processed crap but they hit the spot for a carb junky like me!

shinybootsofleather · 11/08/2010 22:24

PS re. my previous message about my current consultant telling me that veg is not superfree if frozen, a consultant covering for her holiday told me that this was bobbins so I am rather confused now. She actually said frozen veg was only free and now the other says superfree. I'm sure it's not really important as I only eat a small amount of frozen stuff but gargh!

shinybootsofleather · 12/08/2010 08:42

Anyone want to share what they are having for lunch at work? Could use tips to vary things a little!
This week I have had pasta salad with tuna, low fat fromage frais, a little bit of pesto (count as syns), capers, olives, wholemeal pasta, and loads of random veg.
I have also had cous-cous with grilled shredded chicken and lots of veg. Ainsley Harriot one is quite low-syn or you can flavour it yourself with your favourite herbs and spices.

Riadingbetweenthelines · 13/08/2010 20:01

hi shinyboots. I have been having chicken pasta salad with sweetcorn, peppers, onion, cucumber etc, and a dash of tesco low fat honey and mustard dressing, which is 1/2 syn per tablespoon. tomorrow I'm at home so having bubble and squeak with bacon, egg and beans. Was planning tuna pasta salad for Sunday, and maybe a curried chicken and rice salad next week.

does anyone have a good chicken curry recipe I could make in a slow cooker? I am not that confident using my slow cooker, but we are hopefully out all day Sunday, and the boys are dying for a curry.

Hi octopus. I can put weight on really quickly, 3lb+ in a week if I'm really badBlush. But if you've lost a lot I'm sure it won't all go back on for one weekend

Am currently kicking myself. Have been angelic all week since i started, even today we went for our day out after lunch so I could eat on-plan, and I had syn-free soup waiting. And I have 2 or 4 slices of granary baguetteBlush BUGGER! am hoping that won't undo my week of good works. Grrrr.

don't see the harm in frozen veg at all.

nappyaddict · 17/08/2010 02:27

Aren't we allowed to tell each other the password through clues? If so can someone help me out with the latest one :)

Dazmum · 17/08/2010 10:39

Hi all, I put weight on really easily too Sad especially if I eat bread, so maybe if you can identify what is a problem with you, you can at least try and avoid it! That's the theory anyway! I always do better if I have no bread at all.

I emailed my consultant about frozen veg, but she sent me back some answer about mixed veg and referred me to a page in the book... didn't answer the free or superfree question at all, but I can't see a problem with frozen veg other than the ones you are meant to have as HE or synned on orginal days ( which I have to say I have never done Blush.

Don't feel as though I have lost anything again, but I'll find out tomorrow.

nappyaddict · 17/08/2010 11:15

I'm restarting slimming world, been off the wagon a bit over summer.

I am 5 foot 3.5 and weight 10 stone. I want to get down to 8 stone 9 which is how much I weighed at my booking in appointment with DS. I don't know what my proper pre-pregnancy weight is cos I never weighed myself back then.

nappyaddict · 17/08/2010 11:32

However my friend who is 5 foot 4 weighs 8 stone 4 and I think she looks fabulous. Wouldn't mind being that weight but not sure if it is a bit too unrealistic.

janajos · 17/08/2010 11:51

I plan to return to SW with a return to school (as a teacher!!) Would really value some extra support here, am circa 13 stone and would like to be 10 stone 7 (am 5'8"). Finding it sooo hard to lose weight after third boy and 40th birthday. Baby now 14 months, so no real excuse!! Could I please join?

nappyaddict · 17/08/2010 16:56

OK I was wrong. I thought she was 8 stone 4 for some reason but she's actually 7 stone 12 Envy I haven't been that weight since I was at school so I really don't think I can weigh that without really depriving myself.

Dazmum · 17/08/2010 17:18

Oh I would love to be as slim as that, I am 5ft 1in, but I would never be able to get down to that at the rate I lose and also if I did I don't think I would be able to maintain it without, as you say seriously depriving myself. SW isn't about that which is why it works I think. It may take some people like me, longer than others, but it has not made me miserable as other 'diets' have! You can review your target as you go along which might help, you don't have to set it in stone at the start.

5StoneDown · 17/08/2010 18:29

Hey,

hope you don;t mind me joining in on this thread. I have been on SW for a year (since ds was 2 weeks old) I've lost 4st9.5 pounds - my name is optimistic!

Finding it a real sruggle now, couple of pounds off, back on, pound off, half a pound off, back on etc....

Just seem to have lost my motivation, although last week was pretty good, just need to keep it up this week!

Riadingbetweenthelines · 17/08/2010 19:23

blimey! Under 8 stoneShock that really brings home that I need to lose a whole other personShockBlush

clues for the last one I used - turkey sauce fruit. might not work now though.

5lb down this week Grin not bad for TOTM either, that's last weeks gain gone and an extra pound. having a bit of leeway today though as been out all day and am knackered.

mumtoblaire · 17/08/2010 19:31

Well done, 5stonedown to be watching what you are eating while looking after a 2 week old!

I have about 1 stone to lose, DD2 is 15days old and I just can't seem to find the motivation to start. I had a section and I am out each day for an hour walk with pram, started doing this on day 8. I think the problem is that I still look about 4 months pregnant due to uterus taking it's sweet time to shrink down as I didn't go through labour.

I lost quite a bit of weight last year at SW and really enjoyed the plan and the support from going to meetings. Can't afford to join a class this time.

Was hoping to be back in my lovely jeans but think that may take a whileSad.

I did find it helped when I wrote down everything I ate.

Sorry for hijack, just looking for inspirationSmile

Riadingbetweenthelines · 17/08/2010 19:35

damn, doesn't work anymore
