I'm still here, but too ashamed to post... Shinyboots, I put 2lbs on this week too, it's my own fault, I just couldn't stop eating at the weekend and hoovered up bits of pizza and garlic bread without even thinking about it. I'm really cross with myself because I struggle to lose even half a pound, and I had been losing every week for the last four weeks. So, going to have to try even harder now.

shinybootsofleather · 23/07/2010 19:47

It'll be OK Dazmum. We just need to get back on the wagon. I am finding it hard as I have a bit of a cold bug and I am craving comfort food. I made a particularly foul SW lasagne with yoghurt and nutmeg and had to get rid of it yesterday so I only had a mug shot for lunch instead. Not the most healthy! The lasagne recipe was in the magazine. I don't recommend making it if anyone is thinking about it! I think I'll just have to have proper lasagne, just now and then. I'm getting checked for gallstones next week so that's a definite motivation to stick with the program. If I do need an op, I'm sure they'll ask me to lose weight.

Dazmum · 25/07/2010 16:46

Thanks Shinyboots, I guess I am just annoyed with myself that I was doing well (for me) and my greedy brain took over from my sensible eating one! It'll probably take me four weeks to get rid of it, so perhaps thinking of that will help me next time I get tempted.

Hope your tests go ok, my mum had a gall stone op some years ago, but I remember her saying afterwards that she hadn't realised how long she had felt ill for, so it was worth it!
Good luck for this week's weigh in, and Octopus too! Which days are yours?

Dazmum · 25/07/2010 16:58

Good luck everybody in fact!!

shinybootsofleather · 25/07/2010 20:01

I get weighed on Tuesdays so fingers crossed that it won't be too bad(!) I have realised that I have been feeling sick and nauseous in some way or another for about 4 years. The docs put it down to IBS. I hope in a way that it is gallstones. I don't want an op, but if it solves the mystery it's worth it. Did you mum gain or lose weight after the op? I've heard that either can happen afterwards. Hope I lose!

Dazmum · 26/07/2010 11:34

I can't honestly remember, but she was always dieting (like me!!)even though I never remember her looking very over weight. I used to suffer from IBS before I lost weight, particularly with bloating, but now that seems to have gone thankfully.

shinybootsofleather · 26/07/2010 15:47

I definitely think my health will improve if I lose weight as a matter of course. I have over 5 stone to lose . Will find out if I definitely have them this Weds. Good luck this week to you! x

shinybootsofleather · 28/07/2010 21:12

Woo, 2lbs off. Makes up for 2lbs on last week . Feeling slightly more positive now. How is everyone doing?

shinybootsofleather · 29/07/2010 11:38

Wanted to ask about frozen veg. My consultant told me that frozen veg is not superfree. This is the exact opposite of what my previous consultant told me. Does anyone know who is right? Confused now. I sometimes use frozen to make up a third of food on my plate as I do the EE plan.

Firawla · 30/07/2010 13:23

i thought it was too?

TeaOneSugar · 01/08/2010 13:52

Veg is Veg, fresh, frozen or canned, it's all free.

Dazmum · 01/08/2010 18:05

Yes, it is, it says in the book nearly all veg are free foods on original and green which means they're super free foods, enjoy them fresh, frozen or canned, but my consultant
marked on my food diary that frozen petit pois peas are not free on original. Peas show up as a healthy extra B, but they are marked as superfree on Green. I don't do Extra Easy, so I don't know how they count on that.Confusing isn't it?

Well done on your 2lbs shinyboots! I din't lose anything, but didn't put any more on.

discombobulation · 03/08/2010 13:30

Hi, I think some veg is not free on Original as it has a high carb content, eg sweetcorn & yes I think petit pois-always annoyed me that!

Slinkysista · 03/08/2010 23:11

Ladies, I need your help!! Joined SW tonight have four stone to lose. The consultant raced through the booklets at breakneck speed and I am totally none the wiser about what I should be doing . Really need help with this as I was convinced that today I was going to challenge my weight problem and now I am left feeling a sense of despair. Would love to lose the weight by Christmas so I buy the beautiful clothes that my friends buy and not feel like the fat frump friend!! Am a veggie so am on the green plan apparently!! Can you ladies shed any light? Would be so grateful . This would be utterly life changing for me if I could make it work!!

LauraNorder · 03/08/2010 23:16

I lost a 1lb this week - my first week bit disappointing. But apparently I have been filling up my plate with free food rather then superfree food! I am very tempted to go back to Red and Green as I have been successful in the past that way.

How many of you do the original way rather than the Extra Easy plan?

AddictedtoCrunchies · 05/08/2010 16:27

Slinkysista - are you sorted?

It DOES work and I can help you. Brief synopsis of Extra Easy is:

Free food
All veg (fresh or frozens)
All fruit (fresh of frozen)
All lean meat (so cut fat off)
Fish
Pasta/rice/cous cous
V low fat yog
Eggs

Then pick one Healthy A and one Healthy B (in your book)

Then Syn the rest (5-15 a day)

Theory is fill up on free food. You won't be hungry and the weight will fall off. Also, you should feedback to your consultant next week that she went through it too quickly and ask her to do it again. Good luck!

AddictedtoCrunchies · 05/08/2010 16:29

Bugger just seen you want to do green. So...

Free food
Pasta/rice/cous cous etc
All veg (fresh or frozen)
All fruit (fresh or frozen)
Eggs
V low fat yog

Then pick 2 healthy A and 2 healthy B

Then syns as above.

Read your book slowly with a highlighter pen.

Good luck (again)

Slinkysista · 05/08/2010 17:40

Hi Addictedtocrunchies
Think I am getting the hang of it but I seem to do doing a lot of eating for someone who is trying to lose weight!!! Is this normal? Will be mortified if I go back next week and weigh more. Thanks for your help I really appreciate it.
Aiming to lose 2llbs a week as see where that gets me!
Did it work for you Crunchie?

anniebigpants · 06/08/2010 10:55

Slinky-It is perfectly normal to eat more on SW, as long as what you are eating is Free and Superfree and you are not going over your Syn allowances. When i first started doing SW i wasnt eating enough, weight loss was slow, when i started filling my plate-weight loss speeded up.
Ive lost 11lb in 4 weeks, so quite happy with that!

Laura-I find Extra Easy doesnt work well for me. I get far better weight loss when i do Red or Green days.

claireb1974 · 06/08/2010 11:12

Hi can I join in here? I have been going to SW for 13wks now and have lost 28lbs. If anyone has any recipes they have discovered I would love to try them as I feel I am eating the same foods at the moment and need a boost to refresh me. I weigh in on a monday and not looking forward to next weigh in. I have never put on in all my weeks and I have a feeling this maybe my first. I have been away so I know why but still not looking forward to it. I am eating mostly free foods and working so hard at the gym to try and combat the holiday tell tale signs Grin

Slinkysista · 06/08/2010 11:38

Hi Annie/Claire/Laura/Crunchie and all the other ladies,

Annie- your weight lose is fantastic! Seriously if I could lose 11lbs in four weeks I would be dancing in the streetsSmile.
I think I am just finding it weird because I have done every diet known to man and always felt really hungry and deprived, I really don't feel that way with slimming world at all so I keep thinking I must be doing something wrong. Am filling up on fruit and veg and had a mug shot for lunch yesterday, baked potatoe with low fat cottage cheese, scallions and peas and corn and a packet of onion rings in the evening with a highlights hot chocolate. My husband thinks I am seriously cheating.Grin
Anyway lets keep this up and and by Christmas I really could be a slinky sis!!

Dazmum · 06/08/2010 18:16

I am doing really badly at the moment, so seeing how well you are all doing is encouraging me! I have never really got my head around extra easy, but like red and green anyway and tend to stick with them, but because my weight is fluctuating so much at the moment, I thought I would try EE for a while.
claireb, I have tried a couple of recipes this week, both from the magazine, the sweet and sour pork in the current mag is fantastic as is the paella which was from the July one I think.
Good luck all!

Hi Octopus, yes but only one level tbs. It was really good, so going to make it again this week! I can never find much either on the website, it's quite hard to navigate round, but I have a huge heap of magazines if anyone wants any particular recipes. Most of them are Extra Easy now though.

claireb1974 · 09/08/2010 11:14
