PinkChick · 11/01/2010 09:48

4lbs OFF woohoo

mummymels · 11/01/2010 22:12

No Ria, what you said makes sense, I was just being thick! Hope you enjoyed DS2's birthday

RGPargy - Hope your food delivery arrives soon.

Pink - Well done.

I had weight in today and lost 4 lbs so am now 11 stone. I haven't been this low since pre children and it feels brilliant. I am really starting to feel better in myself now.

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 11/01/2010 23:07

well done on those losses

I bought a new workout DVD today, but I fell asleep putting the boys to bed so haven't tried it yet (in fairness I have had a pounding headache all day, and probably should have gone to bed earlier to shift it). I will keep you posted.

DS1 goes back to school tomorrow (finally), and while I'm tempted to have a lazy indulgent day (champagne and fry up anyone?), I plan to get going. Am just enjoying my last glass of wine for 2 weeks (hopefully, though I'm going to buy one of those tiny "treat-sized" bottles from the supermarket for emergencies I realise that makes me sound like an alcoholic, but anyone who has met my boys - especially DS1 ATM - would understand, and having a tiny bottle like that will do far less damage than a big one, and be gone quicker so it would only be a one-day slip up too! Don't have a plan for emergency chocolate/toast, am hoping to avoid that...)

on my "no guru" thread I have posted a list of events over the coming months as "goal dates", and I hope to be slimmer, fitter and healthier for each one.

I even have a new name to spur me on...

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 11/01/2010 23:09

did you get any shopping RG? Our pitiful amount of snow (wouldn't have wanted any more, but the school closures were pathetic considering! "heavy snow in and more forecast for laster"!!! maybe, but NEXT TO NOTHING here!) It is miserable and rainy now though

mummymels · 12/01/2010 17:45

Ria - I hope your headache is better today. The emergency bottle of wine sounds a good idea. Same here re the schools, its ridiculous.

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 12/01/2010 18:42

am going to have look here later.

still got a bit of headache, but not as bad as yesterday. looking forward to the DCs bedtime, despite the 2 who are at school actually being able to go to school today.

RGPargy · 12/01/2010 21:27

Hi ladies

Welcome back Pink!

Ria - no, Asda phoned me in the morning on Monday to say that the delivery wouldn't be coming due to the snow.

I like your way of thinking with the emergency bottles of wine! I started buying those little ones for "emergencies" too and i have to say it worked a treat because i couldn't just "top up" my large glass with another large glass full of vino (damn!!).

Are you going back on RC then? Good luck to you!

RGPargy · 12/01/2010 21:30

Oh forgot to say that i went to the gym today (hoorah!). Only did 20 mins on the x-trainer and 20 mins on the arm cycle thing but at least it's a start and considering i have a bit of a cold i dont think it's that bad lol. Will go again tomorrow and get back into the swing of things again. Trouble is, my lunching with my friends can interfere with the gym but i am going to make sure that the gym comes first and that if necessary, i just meet up with the girls for a coffee if i am going to be mega late to the lunch. I cant keep skipping the gym just to do lunch!! Do you think that makes me sound like a freak or normal?? I mean, at the end of the day, if you have plans you have plans - right? Doesn't matter what those plans are does it!

PinkChick · 13/01/2010 09:58

LOL...you sound like your talking yours3elf into that there RG LOL

Am gunna do 1/2 hour step on wii fit after ive had my brekky, just got weighed on it and it had me down as losing another 3lbs, but its different from my own 'real' scales, so looks like 5lbs altogether for now, very pleased...but am hungry now..so off for me flipped egg..LOL..byee..have a good day.x

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 13/01/2010 13:44

well done on the gym but arse for your shopping. could you alternate lunch dates/gym so that your don't miss all the fun lunches? meeting for coffee is better than not going at all though.

No wine til I next go to a big supermarket now, as I don't think they have the minis in the local shop. But, I am back on RC and the first 2 weeks are meant to be booze free anyway, so it won't hurt to have no temptation about. I need a few early nights too, so hopefully it will all fall into place til the weekend. Started today, better late than never. I have gained approx a stone since I last weighed in aboout a month ago. Bit rubbish really.

well done on the exercise Pink. Might have to see if I can get out for a walk later as DH is home and pissing me off

mummymels · 13/01/2010 22:14

Ria - That's good your head is starting to get better now. That link you posted looks great. Let us know what you think when you have a look. How does Rosemary Conley diet work?

RGPargy - What a pain about your shopping. Did they say when you can expect to receive it? You don't sound like a freak at all, that makes sense what you say about having plans. But well done on the gym visit, that sounds a lot more than I would manage.

Pink - Enjoy the wii fit. I am so envious of everyone who has one!

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 13/01/2010 23:03

I toyed with the idea of a wii fit for xmas for me and DH from my parents, but we got a Midsomer Murders boxset and matalan vouchers instead! (I was thinking new clothes... sadly watchig DVDs involves nibbles and wine as Midsomers isn't nearly as much fun sober)

RC is probably one of the best and most sensible diets out there TBH, especially when combined with her exercise plans, but I suppose it's all down to what you want fom it isn't it? SW is good if you want unlimited carbs, WW/calorie counting good if you only want to eat 2 mars bars and a bottle of wine. They've all worked for me, depending where my head is while I'm doing it.

Anyway, RC - It is low fat and low GI. The 2 weeks kick start is breakfast of 200 cal, mid-morning "power snack" (fruit for the 1st 2 weeks) of 50 cal, lunch 300 cal, mid-afternoon power snack 50 cal, dinner of 400 cal, 3/4pt s/s milk or 1/2pt and 1 diet yogurt, and an extra portion of salad (which I don't quite get as salad and veg are unlimited), but based on low GI choices (so not meant to have more than half a banana, only new potatoes, green apples, multi grain bread etc). My only worry with these 2 weeks is the limited calories, as if I was calorie counting I would be on 1,500 at least I think, and I know it's not a good thing to cut back too much. But I want to try it properly and get the results mentioned in the book

Have had a great day up til now, aside from going to bed with crippling stomach ache, I expect from the paracetamol I've been taking for my head. Could be TOM though as I'm very sore up top. Hoping for a good day tomorrow and maybe some gentle exercise...

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 13/01/2010 23:07

after the 2 weeks I think you get more calories for lunch and dinner, "power snacks" include veg sticks and houmous, cereal bars etc, and a 100 cal "high fat treat" and a glass of wine/fruit juice (I am typing this from memory so may have missed something)

mummymels · 14/01/2010 20:57

Ria - The RC diet does sound good. I will be interested to know how you find it.

RGPargy · 15/01/2010 11:22

Has anyone been watching the Big Fat Diet Show on Channel 4? I've been watching it quite interestingly but haven't taken in what/how they've been doing it. Anyway they inspired me to start calorie counting again (diet has gone a bit AWOL since Xmas really). I looked online and found this site that gives you a 7 day calorie cycle. Basically what it means is that you dont have the exact same calories every day (although you do have the same amount of calories every week) and what this does is fools your body into NOT plateauing and basically keeps it on its toes as a different amount of calories are coming in almost every day (does that make sense?!!).

So my calories for a typical week will be:

Mon - 2,112
Tues - 2,112
Weds - 2,535
Thurs - 2,112
Fri - 2,112
Sat - 2,324
Sun - 2,112

I think i will give it a go - it cant be any worse than what i'm eating at the moment, can it!! Also, i think i might swap Wednesday's and Saturday's calories around because i'm more likely to eat more on a Saturday than i am on a Wednesday. I'm sure my body wont know what day of the week it is!

PinkChick · 15/01/2010 12:57

Hi Girls, been to gym this morning with cousin..got weighed on their scales and nearly fell off!!...they had me a good 6-7 lighter than mine LOL..but then used leisure centres digital ones and my own where right ..ah well..any way good news is i lost another 4lbs this week, 8lbs in 2 weeks so am over the moon and now the gym and wii fit will help me tone all the flab up too! 8-)...have a fsb day everyone!.x

RGPargy · 15/01/2010 13:07

Ria - those first two weeks of RC do sound a bit regimented, but i suppose it's to get you focussed and to give you a kick start and help with motivation. Having said that, i think most diets are strict to begin with, just so you pull your socks up a bit to begin with before you can relax a little.

Mels - I cancelled the order in the end and just started from scratch again so hopefully they'll be coming on Monday instead. It's my turn to host the lunch this coming Tuesday so no excuses about getting there late!!

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 15/01/2010 22:58

can you link the site RG?

Dsis is starting WW again, so no doubt she'll be uber competitive and make me feel inadequate.

RGPargy · 16/01/2010 12:32

Will try and find the site again Ria. Your sister will only make you feel inadequate if you let her. She is obviously just fearful of the competition from you, which is why she will make you feel like that, rather than encouraging you and making you feel good. Perhaps she secretly wants to see you fail so that she can be the slim sister, if that makes sense? My sister was always a bit like that so i know how it feels to have a sister who always makes you feel crap. You have to tell yourself that you will NOT let her make you feel bad about yourself!! Be strong Ria!

RGPargy · 16/01/2010 12:34

Ria - the site is HERE

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 16/01/2010 17:21

thanks RG, I will have a look.

I think what you said there is true. I want to be the thin sister too! But I hope I am more encouraging

bad weekend, but am working on my head and it's complexities

RGPargy · 17/01/2010 22:39

I'm sure you are more encouraging Ria! How did you do today?

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 17/01/2010 22:49

my head is completely screwed actually. what I need to do is not take on the issues of my friends and spend time losing sleep over them. And I am almost tempted to indulge in a little plain speaking and tell said friend not to behave like a spoilt teenager and stop cutting off her nose to spite her face, and if she must then not to tell me about it, especially not only giving me enough information so I am totally on her side when that might not be warranted. But I expect I won't.

From tomorrow it's going to be about me!

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 18/01/2010 21:16

not done so bad with my selfishness

somehow I've managed to lose 1lb.

tried my new workout DVD and it's a bit complicated (and currently watching the sections I didn't do, to see how it goes). Oh wow - I'm going to try Johnny's Mambo tomorrow. Need to find my sparkly shoes...

good day food-wise, I could murder a glass of wine, but I haven't got any. Early to bed with a book I think.

Hope you're all doing OK
