Sorry to hear about your aunt Ria, go easy on yourself. I'm trying to be realistic about my weight loss this time. I've dieted so many times in the past and I've started with a really good loss, but never really got down to a healthy weight then its all crept back on again. This time I'm concentrating on getting to a healthy weight but I don't care if it takes 3 years. I'm not buying in food for christmas (we're at m+ds for the big day) but I'm not going to restrict what I eat. If I want christmas food I'm going to eat it. It is not a time for dieting. I've done really well so far and I can start again properly next year.

Didn't post last week coz my scales said I'd put on 5lb which I wasn't sure if I should believe or not! But this week those 5lb are gone along with another 2, so I think it may have just been my crazy scales, def need to buy myself some more!

mummymels · 14/12/2009 22:52

Rialentless - you sound like you have a plan for the next few weeks. I've heard of the Rosemary Conley one but never looked into it. How does it work? I hope Tuesday goes as well as it can do. The food is actually really nice and you get to a point when you can make your own meals from the recipes as long as they keep to the plan. I normally don't find it too hard making meals for the rest of the family although sometimes it's quite hard to resist temptation but so far I have managed it.

Smallone - sounds like you have tempermental (doesn't look right spelling for can't think how to spell it at the moment!) scales. I'm pleased you have lost afterall. That sounds a good attitude re Christmas.

Evening ladies. Just bookmarking.

Diet and gym have been out the window lately due to one thing or another, poorly DD, too much socialising etc. DD is still full of snot atm but she's starting to drive me nuts and is climbing the walls so i'm taking her to the gym creche come hell or high water tomorrow. Means i'll have to do a step class tho, which will probably kill me as i have a cold coming too and am slightly bunged up. Oh well, i need to blow some cobwebs out of my system so i really must go, even if i dont make a full effort in the class.

Hope everyone is well!!

mummymels · 15/12/2009 22:29

RGPargy - you all sound in the wars too.

I hope everyone who is under the weather are better soon. All well here but just very tired.

RGPargy · 15/12/2009 22:56

I think everyone is tired at the moment Mels. It must be the build up to Christmas and all the pressure lol.

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 15/12/2009 23:23

why do we do it to ourselves?! bloody christmas!!!

RGPargy · 15/12/2009 23:25

It's horrible isn't it. It's quite depressing to think that if i'd have stuck to dieting when i was losing weight, i'd probably have lost about 5 or 6 stone by now! GGRRRR @ me!!

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 16/12/2009 21:50

me too RG. I did manage to lose 6lbs for the funeral, the trousers fitted OK, and my black cardigan was slimming, and the long coat I bought (charity shop of course) apparently was very flattering. It is a shame it had to be a sad occasion for me not to look like the fat bird trying too hard though

next year will be our year

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 16/12/2009 21:51
Xmas Biscuit

just wondered if that would work!

ChristmasRGPargyCarol · 16/12/2009 21:58

Yes it's a shame isn't it Ria. Glad your clothes fitted you nicely. Hopefully next year will deffo be our year and i can hopefully crack back on with the gym again. I did go today, although it was only to take DD swimming because she was getting bored after having spent all day indoors yesterday too, poor lamb.

Dont think they did a Xmas Biscuit! Would look a bit funny with a hat on, wouldn't it lol.

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 16/12/2009 22:46

there are probably enought festive biscuits around atm...

love your xmas name!

mummymels · 16/12/2009 23:30

I think you have hit the nail on the head RGPargy. Hopfully the Christmas break will give everyone a good rest. You can?t beat yourself up. Everything happens for a reason and there will be a right time. Love the name change.

Gloria ? I hope the funeral went as well as a funeral can go. Well done on losing all that weight when you are going through such a stressful time.

ChristmasRGPargyCarol · 17/12/2009 14:47

Thanx Ria!

Mels - in case you didn't know, my real name is Carol, hence the Christmas reference lol

It's our firm's xmas party tonight but it's being held in some hotel room that is fitted out log cabin stylee. They have therefore themed our party as "Apres Ski or Cocktail Dress". I have no idea WTF that is supposed to mean! Apres ski is (IMO), just jeans and a christmas jumper and boots or something. Loads of people aren't going this year - getting home is a real pain too which is another major factor.

However on the plus side, they are coming round with mince pies and sausage rolls at 4.30pm to make sure everyone doesn't get too hammered as it's not a sit down dinner this year, and instead they are just laying on "bowl food". I have no idea what that is either - bowl food could mean anything! I eat my cornflakes from a bowl so perhaps they're treating us to a box of Crunchy Nut?!

So glad I'm just heading home tho. DP has been working away again for the past couple of nights so i'm looking forward to snuggling up with him instead. awwww

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 17/12/2009 15:02

are you not going them RG? Sounds interesting!

ChristmasRGPargyCarol · 17/12/2009 16:25

God, no. I cant be bothered to sit on the "Ghetto Line" at midnight with all the drunk people, as we stop at every stop etc. It takes me about 1hr 10mins to get home on that particular line and tbh i'd rather have a decent glass of wine at home lol. I know i'm being a party pooper but i dont really have a work mate who i'm really pally with so i'd be standing there looking around desperately for someone to talk to lol.

mummymels · 17/12/2009 22:50

lol Carol, I didn't realise that was your name so makes sense now.

Is it snowing where you are? If it is anything like it is here I bet you are pleased you didn't go to the xmas do and get stuck out somewhere. It will be interesting to hear what it was all about from everyone else though.

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 17/12/2009 22:57

can't say I blame you. I was invited (half-heartedly I think) to DHs work do last weekend, but I didn't fancy it, especially as DH was cooking it! Hope you enjoy your night in with DP.

DH has just got in from work, and it took him over half an hour to do the 10 min journey home. He has said he won't be going in the morning if it gets any worse , the roads he travels on probably don't even make it to C road standard!

DS3 has been asleep half an hour. Another night where I have achieved none of the stuff I had planned for after bedtime... can we postpone christmas for a week?

mummymels · 17/12/2009 23:25

I so understand where you are coming from Ria. My evenings seem to go so quickly and nothing gets done that I plan or I end up being up half the night getting things done.

You must be pleased that DH is home now. It is horrible out there. I couldn't believe how icy our road was already.

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 18/12/2009 00:34

as my sister said tonight "it's OK, you'll stay up til after midnight til it's done". yes, I will, most nights I expect, cos that's how I get things done. (she goes to bed any time from 7pm onwards. we know not to phone them after 8...)

I suppose I'm pleased DH is home, if he doesn't go to work first thing and pulls his weight, then I'll let him off. He is super-dedicated to his job, but is he a lazy arse at hone. But he's Ok, and James Martin is too attractive and Stephen Fry is gay

mummymels · 18/12/2009 22:46

Going to bed at 8pm. I would so love that sometimes, it sounds like heaven but realistically it never happens. Maybe by the time the kids leave home I can have an early night! You sound like me. I'm always up late too.

Lol, re DH. Hopefully he will pull his weight and help you.

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 18/12/2009 23:15

yet again DH got away with doing the bare minimum. He would have so much more time for stuff if he didn't consider having baths and drinking coffee to be household chores! got a bit done myself today, but GS2 knocked over my very old and very heavy wooden stepladders, and they landed on my head. I have spent the evening feeling quite ill and sorry for myself while DS1 helped with the littlies luckily DH was not late home tonight.

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 18/12/2009 23:16

DS2. oops. that's the bang on the head talking.

mummymels · 18/12/2009 23:23

Ria maybe you should get yourself checked out if your head got hit hard. I hope you are ok.

Your DH sounds like mine!

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 19/12/2009 23:12

thanks Mels. I seem to be OK, luckily DH was in from work early-ish so he kept an eye on me. I finally wrote my xmas cards to be posted (only heavens knows what I put). Have felt a bit wobbly today, but managed ironing and supermarket shopping (DH drove due to snow) and visiting my parents (who are cross with me for not ringing them and getting them here last night - they live around the corner) It still hurts!

DH got sent home from work early tonight due to the snow. Is it wrong to cross my fingers and hope the roads are blocked tomorrow?

ChristmasRGPargyCarol · 20/12/2009 00:00

Poor you Ria!! Hope your head gets better soon! It's not wrong to wish for being snowed in so ou get to spend more time with DH. It's only natural!
