Hi Ria

Well done on the pound off!! woohoo!!!

I think you SHOULD tell you friend how it is. Sometimes people can be very much the drama queen to get sympathy from people. If you tell her how it is, it might force her to think twice or at least give you the full story before she burdens you with her problems! Dont get me wrong, i'm all for helping a friend in need etc and talking problems over, but not when someone can be doing without the added mind-stress!!

Be strong Ria. It should deffo be about YOU, YOU and then YOU some more!!

I, on the other hand, am having a very bad week. It's my birthday on Thursday and i've started on the fizzy pop already (and blow the gym out completely this week!). There's really no point in me being too good this week - yesterday was the only day DP could go out and get my pressie so i couldn't go to the gym last night. Today i wrote it off because i had a lot to do in the house today, i'm not going tomorrow because the girls are over for lunch, thursday i'm at work and doing lunch with a friend, plus cakes in the afternoon, friday i am doing lunch with other work friends and saturday i am going out with DP for a curry (unheard of for us to go OUT for a curry!!) and then to the pub so much much much calories this week! Woopsie!! Back on the ball from Monday tho. I NEED to get cracking really and my birthday has come at a bit of an inconvenient time because i wanted to crack on with it this week. Nevermind tho.

So sorry for the ramble - i dont usually get such quiet periods during the day. DD is asleep on the sofa next to me so i have the time to type a fuller reply lol.

Right, i'm off to make dinner. Have a nice evening, be back later!

LOL RG, did your birthday creep up on you? Hope you enjoy your extended celebrations, it sounds great.

I am wavering already. I suppose I haven't had my 2 "power snacks" today though as I was late with breakfast and then late with lunch. I spent ages cooking a veg-packed (for bigger portions) cottage pie (with only a tiny amount of mash - not keen on this recipe!) with loads of veg, and DH had to go to work unexpectedly, DS2 wouldn't eat it cos he is ill, and DS1&3 haven't eaten much either. I had a pretty big portion and am still starving, and can't go out for my planned walk because DH isn't here

Tomorrow we are going to the hospital, hopefully DH will be getting all his test results It will be a long tough day, with lots of travelling and waiting about. Can't see me giving 100% tomorrow, especially when we will probably drop by Asda (it would be rude not to!)

Am giving my friend a wide berth TBH. I typed a home-truth type email, and have saved it, but will probably never send it. It seems ridiculous that I went through the affair and divorce etc with her, in much the same way as she has literally dumped the same person she put so much pressure on to leave their kids to live with her. I had expected I would need to provide tissues and chocolate etc, but she is busy selling off all the stuff they bought together and selling the house etc I know it's wrong to judge but I had never imagined she would be so shallow. Anyway, I decided it wasn't worth losing my sleep over, so I'm steering clear.

Me, me, ME I'm working on it

Now, to DVD or not to DVD

RGPargy ? Good luck with the new diet. Happy birthday for Thursday. It sounds as if you have a lovely week planned. Worry about the diet after your week and enjoy yourself this week!

PinkChick ? Well done on the weight loss.

Ria ? You worry about yourself an let Dsis worry about herself! RG really made sense with her theory about this. And sorry as well that you are having problems with your friend. I can see why you feel cross with her now. It?s not fair to lumber all that on you when you have your own concerns especially if DH needs to have some tests done. Good luck at the hospital. Well done on the pound off.

I feel really tired for some reason. I'm going to have my Go Lower beef chilli this evening with a peppermint tea afterwards and an early night.

Have a good evening everyone.

RGPargy · 19/01/2010 20:54

Ria - For some reason this year's birthday feels like a happy occasion. Normally they are all doom and gloom because a) i'm getting older; b) i am skint and c) everyone else is skint so i dont get any presents and no one can afford to go out. HOWEVER, this year we are more flush than usual, which means that we can afford my birthday!!! Unheard of, normally! Woohoo!!

Sounds like you are struggling a little Ria. I dont blame you - you've got a bit on your plate at the moment, haven't you. I think you'd have been better off doing a cottage pie the proper way () and just serving the veg on the side, piled up high! Funnily enough, that's what i'm giving the girls for lunch tomorrow! I'm really looking forward to that - i've not had that for aaaages!! One of the girls doesn't like it tho, so she's having a jacket spud instead lol. No comparison really tho is it!

Hopefully your DH's test results will be what you are hoping for. Of course if you are passing Asda it most definitely would be rude NOT to pop in!! Had you said this to me next week, i would be telling you to steer clear but i'm not in the diet frame of mind atm so for me, anything goes.

It deffo sounds like you should give your friend a wide berth. Why do you think she has gone so cold on this fella then, especially after putting so much pressure on him to leave his family? Actually perhaps you shouldn't think about that - i'd hate for you to lose sleep over it!

When you say "DVD" do you mean a good hearty belly laugh comedy, sans vino de plonk or are you talking about the exercise kind?

Mummymels - thanx, i am deffo going to enjoy it this week!

Is Go Lower stuff lower in carbs? If so, have you been eating alot of the Go Lower stuff or are you not having alot of carbs? If you are cutting back on your carbs you will feel more tired for a few days until your body learns to adjust to a different source of energy. It'll pass!

RGPargy · 19/01/2010 20:57

Or should that be a DVD dans la vino de plonk?? Cant remember which one it is now.....

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 19/01/2010 21:58

I have no idea RG, I was meaning the exercise kind anyway, so maybe wo ist de nexten krankenhaus bitte? would be more appropriate (no idea if that's the right spelling, but it's all I can remember from my GCSE, and I got an A grade, that and the lad I sat next to was a haemophilliac - can't spell that either). I made the mistake of buying some of those treat-sized wines today. I am trying hard not to give in to them and the selection boxes. Am bloody starving though.

no idea what's going on with my friend. She met said person at uni 3 years ago now, promptly had an affair, dropped out of uni, divorced husband and sulked until her partner left home and kids behind to set up home with her. They have had 2 years, they were here last weekend for DS2s birthday and were talking about the bigger house they were buying so the eldest "step" child and their partner could move in too. It seems very sudden. The 2 occasions I have seriously considered chucking DH out on his ear I have still given it up cos it was to much effort! Maybe I'm not dedicated enough for the single life

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 19/01/2010 22:03

bloody hell! no wonder I'm hungry, I just put my stats into the calculator on that link you posted and it says I should be on nearly 2000 calories a day, and I'm currently on just over half of that. I liked her old diet better where you only starved yourself for 3 days

might just have a piece of toast for supper

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 19/01/2010 22:04
RGPargy · 19/01/2010 23:02

lol at Krankenhaus!! Your spelling was correct (i googled it ) so well done you. I never did German at school but took it up at an evening course many moons ago when i thought i wanted to be a bilingual secretary. I really enjoyed it too until it came to the grammar, nouns, pronouns, feminine, masculine, etc side of things and that just lost me (as it did in English too!)

Blimey, it does sound very sudden for your friend doesn't it - unless she realised pretty early doors that she'd made a mistake and has been waiting to jump at the first opportunity to split with him.....

So how many cals does RC say you should have for the first 2 weeks?? I dont think dropping calories dramatically is the way to go as it'll make you feel tired and will make the cravings kick in. Perhaps that is why you are wanting wine and chocs? A piece of toast is a good idea. STEP AWAY FROM GOOGLE!!!!!

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 19/01/2010 23:25

I believe it works out around 1000-1200. which would be fine if I was only looking at a couple of stone or so, I do believe her propaganda though and she is a stick insect a good advert for her diets etc. she is on twitter and FB with a daily fitness challenge! I will look a bit more at that site you linked, and a few others, and maybe just follow her standard plan without the initial 2 weeks. There's a guy in the current mag though, who was nearly 21 stone, and apparently he managed it

I only did german because it meant I got to drop cross-country running in the 3rd year of secondary school. I also have enough trouble with english grammar in it's dictated and typed form (but my boss did sound like a pixie on helium)

PinkChick · 20/01/2010 20:49

thanks mummymels, hope yiou enjoyed your chilli last night and hope your feeling a bit more with it now??

mummymels · 21/01/2010 00:39

RGPargy - Brilliant on being able to afford your birthday this year. I hope you enjoy all your plans. I have been eating the Go Lower food which is low in carbs. Thanks, hope it passes although I've been on this diet now for about 3 months or so so I should be used to it by now but maybe every so often it hits you again.

Ria - I hope you are eating enough. You don't want to end up ill especially with so much on your plate at the moment.

PinkChick - Chilli was lovely thanks. I have had that one quite often now. Feeling a bit better thanks.

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 21/01/2010 13:51

Oh no Ria, what a nightmare. Hope everyone are better soon.

RGPargy · 24/01/2010 20:12

how are you all in La Maison Ria?

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 24/01/2010 22:47

24 hrs D-free, and almost 24 hrs since the last V episode. DS3 seems to have a cold now though

How is your DD?

RGPargy · 24/01/2010 22:57

It doesn't rain, but it pours, eh? Glad that your lot seem to be slowly on the mend. DD is OK, but not at all herself. No sickness today thankfully but she's not really eating anything either so that could be why. She did have some of her bedtime milky tho so that's promising......

How has your weekend been Ria?

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 24/01/2010 23:04

diet???

RGPargy · 24/01/2010 23:16

Diet?? What diet??!! Last night DP and I managed to still go out for my birthday celebrations despite DD's sickness as it had calmed down by then (good ol' grandparents!) and i had the most AMAZING lamb tikka!! Then we went onto a bar and drank copious amounts of booze! So no, no diet yesterday or today due to the roast dinner i cooked and the chocs still left to eat! Believe it or not, i'm getting sick of chocolate!!

mummymels · 25/01/2010 08:08

Ria - Hopefully that is the end of it now and you have no more bugs in your house. My DS had diarrhea on and off all last week too and I got a phone call to pick him up from school on Wednesday because of it but he was fine in himself.

RGPargy - You have to enjoy yourself on your birthday. Meal sounds lovely. Hope everyone are better in your house too. That's a good sign that you are getting sick of the chocolate.

As I am on here early today so I've not done my Monday weigh in yet so I will post that later today or tomorrow when I've done it.

Just eating my granola breakfast, today with yoghurt and some raspberries mixed in before the kids are up and the house turns manic.
