As promised, a new thread for those of us following GI.

There's a separate thread for recipes now - thanks to those of you doing the cutting and pasting of recipes .

I've lost 2 lbs this week, so that's goodbye to the 6lbs I put on in my 2 day "breadfest" !

katya welcome we all need support so lets do it together

Puff · 02/07/2005 21:15

Hi all, back from hols, great to see some new people on here and well done robin .

I enjoyed my food on hols, decided to brave the scales and have put on 3lbs - not as bad as I thought and I'd lost 6lbs in preparation, so I'm not too sad! Back to being good asap!

Katya · 02/07/2005 22:08

well done Puff on not gaining too much on your hols.
onwards and downwards !

dizzymama · 03/07/2005 10:45

Hi Kat and welcome, I love that phrase, perhaps it could be our GI catchphrase... 'Onwards and downwards!!' I'm very impressed with the m,inimal weight gain on holiday puff, how did you do it? I'm gfoing in August and am terrified I'll just put on what I've lost !!

Puff · 03/07/2005 11:57

Dizzymama - I ate loads and had quite a few vodka martini's, but I avoided bread, which seems to have stopped me piling on too many pounds.

melbob · 03/07/2005 18:18

Hi Puff welcome back and well done

Having brrn trying the paul Mckenna cd for three days it says it takes at least 2 weeks to ntotice results so I'll let you all know

Katya · 04/07/2005 10:17

I am listening to Paul McK CD too, alongside GI aware eating.

Think it's useful for getting more focussed on hunger levels, and paying attention to eating rather than just shovelling it in and looking for more!

melbob · 04/07/2005 20:40

Hi

well I stayed the same this week but not sure why but never mind feeling alot healthier and focussed

Katya has PMcKenna helped that's the way I intended to use it

dizzymama · 06/07/2005 09:41

Hi all, weighed in today (been on diet for 10 days) and have lost 3lbs. Not too bad, just got to keep it coming off slowly and steadily I suppose. Hope evryone is doing well. x

Puff · 06/07/2005 09:46

Well done dizzymama

Saker · 06/07/2005 10:04

melbob · 06/07/2005 20:48

Well done Dizzymama. DS poorly so am clearing up sick and diarrohea (nice) alot of nbending must help wt loss

dizzymama · 06/07/2005 20:51

Oh Melbob, poor Ds . Mind you great positive thinking there, you're right, a nice trim waist should be yours after all that bending!! Hope he gets better soon x

melbob · 07/07/2005 20:06

So how's it going? all seems a bit insignificant after the bombimgs in London

Puff · 08/07/2005 09:56

Not a good few days for me as far as the diet is concerned! I've damaged my hip somehow, been referred for physio and prescribed strong painkillers and diazepam to relieve the muscle spasms. For some reason, I feel permanently ravenous and cannot stop eating !

Saker · 08/07/2005 10:56

Oh Puff I hope you get better soon.

melbob · 08/07/2005 17:49

Poor you puff. I wouldn't worry too much about food just concentrate on getting well

dizzymama · 08/07/2005 19:02

Oh Puff, don't worry, as Melbob says just get yourself better x

Saker · 09/07/2005 20:25

I hope you are feeling a bit better Puff.

I lost a pound in the last two weeks, which is not too bad considering Dh's parents were here for part of it. Two weeks until I go on holiday so ideally like to lose another 2 pounds. I am a bit scared about going on holiday in terms of eating. I can't decide whether I should just not worry what I eat or whether I should impose some rules. It has taken me 13 weeks to get this far and I am worried I could put half of it back on in just 2! But I don't want to ruin the holiday by having to think about what I eat IYKWIM.

Puff · 10/07/2005 17:55

Well done Saker . For your hols, I'd suggest maybe 1 or 2 rules - mine was no bread/pastry/cakes and it meant I didn't pile on too much weight but still had a yummy time.

I'm struggling with keeping on track at the mo, will just try not to put on any weight until my hip gets better.

suzywong · 11/07/2005 13:29

Ok I've got a challenge for you

Anyone know of a recipe using celearic, that knobbly root?

I've got down to it with earnest this week, those lamb pittas from the Times website are great, aren't they?

Saker · 11/07/2005 13:49

There a gorgeous one in the AWT book -celeriac scordalia or something. Do you have it? If not I'll post later.

suzywong · 11/07/2005 14:04

no I don't Saker, would you be a mate andpost it, that would be really useful, thanks

Saker · 11/07/2005 16:19

Suzy

I've added it to the recipe thread. It's with tuna so I've put it all but you could do just the celeriac bit. Hope you like it.

melbob · 11/07/2005 20:04

Hi stayed the same this week but not sure why. In my three GI books they contradict each other, does anyone know about the calorie counting low GI balance. What I mean is sometimes I read you don't need to calorie count just keep to low GI and the weight will go but others say you need to calorie count too. or is it just a question of speed ie if you do low GI it will be slower but more sustainable long term??
