As promised, a new thread for those of us following GI.

There's a separate thread for recipes now - thanks to those of you doing the cutting and pasting of recipes .

I've lost 2 lbs this week, so that's goodbye to the 6lbs I put on in my 2 day "breadfest" !

merryberry - lovely to see you on here . I was almost exactly the same weight as you are when I started this (and am the same height). Good luck, we will give you tons of support . The most important thing for me has been taking the long term view. There have been times where I've put on 6lbs in a few days (on hols stuffing yummy bread), but we need to allow ourselves the odd hiccup I feel!

Melbob - WELL DONE on staying the same over hols . Sounds like a bit of a fraught trip!

Saker - hello .

Hi there, i am considering the gi diet way of losing weight and was wondering what you think of the anthony worral thompson book (recipes), and the greek docters diet which i belive is based on the same principles.

puff · 13/10/2005 14:56

AWT's book is good - some lovely recipes in there and not too fiddly. Don't know about the other book - if you get it, let me know what you think.

dizzy34 · 13/10/2005 15:03

hi puff, with the gi approach do i still have to watch the calories and fat in a recipe?

puff · 13/10/2005 15:04

I do, although I don't count calories as such, I just try to be sensible.

puff · 13/10/2005 15:05

AWT's book has nutritional info for each recipe which is useful.

merryberry · 14/10/2005 09:31

awt book delicious
the recipes, not the book itself i mean!

BF makes me laugh. I am deffo eating teh best i ever did in my life but I can tell I am staying the same weight. While changing shape! THink my fat is going down.

I'm currently hovering over ds dying for him to wake up . I really want to go for a walk. xfx

Hi - can anyone either give me the basics of the GI diet, or point me in the direction of another thread which may have them? I've ordered the book, but want to start tomorrow and I know it won't arrived 'til at least Tuesday ... thanks in advance.

Saker · 15/10/2005 19:25

This is a good site here and goes with the Rick Gallop books.

Detta · 15/10/2005 20:39

thanks. porridge tomorrow morning then!

Detta · 16/10/2005 13:50

sorry to be a pest, but just one more thing.. can you snack on fruit/veg etc whenever you fancy, or do you stick rigidly to 3meals plus 2 snacks? thanks again

puff · 16/10/2005 13:53

I snack on fruit and veg, as long as it's low gi obviously.

melbob · 17/10/2005 19:28

Hi all how is it going. Back to work today
missed DS and DH loads. They started Jo jingles and apparently had a whale of a time. How you all doing GI wise. We are ont he Helen Thomas Galvanizing week then bakc onthw wieght loss next week. Want to loose another stone by Xmas.

puff · 17/10/2005 19:37

Hiya melbob, I've lost another 1lb.

Can I join you in the target of a stone by Christmas? I'd quite like to have a focus over the next couple of months. What day do you weigh yourself? I'd be happy to do the same day. I've been bobbing along losing a pound a week, but know it should be more as I'm going to the gym regularly, but have been less strict with myself foodwise. I'd be thrilled to have another stone off by Christmas.

melbob · 18/10/2005 19:47

Would be great if we could do the stone together. I can do my wigh day anyday as have styed same for couple of weeks, was thinking of Monday or Friday. Mon as start of week but friday as weekends most tricky for me and may help to have focus but think its as broad as its long. How about you? Nine weeks to go should be able to do it.

puff · 18/10/2005 20:21

Oh great !

If we weigh in on Mondays, that gives us 5 days to the first weigh in, nearly a full week - what do you reckon?

puff · 18/10/2005 20:26

Shall I start a new GI thread - this one is quite long now!

Saker · 18/10/2005 21:10

Good luck with your stone , I will try and join you after half term for at least part of it.

puff · 18/10/2005 22:14

Great Saker .

merryberry · 19/10/2005 18:16

yes please puff

melbob · 19/10/2005 22:12

Ok for Monday and new thread seems like a good idea

Got to collapse in bed now. TTS

puff · 19/10/2005 22:50
