As promised, a new thread for those of us following GI.

There's a separate thread for recipes now - thanks to those of you doing the cutting and pasting of recipes .

I've lost 2 lbs this week, so that's goodbye to the 6lbs I put on in my 2 day "breadfest" !

Lost 1/2 pound this week (on my super accurate new scales ). Not sure if it counts really or is just fluctuation. I guess next week will tell.

melbob · 25/09/2005 18:51

Well done Saker. Whispers weighed myself this am (too early usual weigh in Tues)and think I have lost some but will wait until tues to believe it

robin3 · 26/09/2005 13:18

Wanted to add some words of encouragement. It's been 3 months since I stopped eating the strict GI way to loose weight and since that time I've kept to GI meals but added back in wine, chocolate and cakes in moderation and eaten out and had whatever I was given. Anyway I've kept the weight off...it's been very easy and brilliant to not feel I'm still in the vicious cycle I was in before.

Back on the diet now to loose another stone.

Saker · 26/09/2005 18:15

That is encouraging Robin. Sometimes on weeks when I don't lose anything and I am sticking to the diet, I think what would happen if I was eating any more!?

Welcome back as well.

melbob · 26/09/2005 20:31

well done Robin for keeping it off and welcome back. Thanks for the encouragement it all helps

melbob · 27/09/2005 21:09

handel's alleluia chorus at top volume

puff · 27/09/2005 21:18

Lovely to see you on here again robin .

Melbob HURRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY WELL* DONE

I've lost 1lb this week.

Saker · 27/09/2005 22:48

Well done Melbob

Saker · 27/09/2005 22:48

and Puff of course

melbob · 28/09/2005 21:57

Well done Puff and thanks both the encouragement from you is really really helpful.

Saker · 29/09/2005 13:50

Oh not doing well today. I have felt hungry all week and weighed myself this morning (which I shouldn't have done) and was two pounds heavier than at the weekend, which seems unfair because I have been generally pretty good. I might take a break for a while. I'm pretty close to where I want to be now but I would like to build in a bit of leeway for holidays, Christmas etc so if I could lose a few more pounds that would be enough. However because I feel okay about my weight atm it all seems a bit pointless.

puff · 29/09/2005 21:33

Saker - do keep popping in while you're on your break though - would miss you otherwise .

Saker · 30/09/2005 13:23

Thanks Puff, not really sure what I am doing atm which is a recipe for disaster . Sort of taking today and tomorrow off at least and see what I feel like.

melbob · 30/09/2005 20:00

I'd miss you too Saker. Enjoy yourself this weekend

melbob · 30/09/2005 20:13

Sorry got called away.

Meant to say I'm sure the 2lbs is one oft hose funny fluctuations that we have all had. Hope it does p* you off too much

melbob · 02/10/2005 19:32

Off to France for a week tomorrow. Good luck everyone.

KingPuff · 06/10/2005 08:59

Lost 1lb this week - pleased it's still coming off, I've been on this diet for 14 months now!

Bit lonely on here without you melbob - I'll be glad when you are back .

Saker · 06/10/2005 14:07

Popping in to say "well done Puff!". I'm still here just. After pigging out all day on Friday I sort of got it out of my system and have been fairly good since then. Still not really sure where I am going at the moment as have a few evenings out, and a weekend away coming up.

Saker · 06/10/2005 14:08

14 months is a long time - how much longer do think you will need? You have done so well to keep going.

KingPuff · 07/10/2005 08:56

Thanks Saker.

I havent really given myself a time limit to get the rest of the weight off. I'm expecting the last couple of stone to be slower. If I was really good I could probably crack it by New Year, but I like having a few treats !

I know what you mean about needing to pig out every now and then - I did the same yesterday!

merryberry · 11/10/2005 15:38

Inspired by puff (regal/nonregal versions) to join you. Following bedbound last 3 months of PG and first two months sofabound postpartum, I
am 18st 6 and 5ft 7 with 3 month old BF baby. Was about 15st before. Would like to ease myself to 12 1/2 over the next year.

Have made a start while BF as this has improved quality of my diet. Have lost 1/2 stone so far. Won't weigh myself again til new year though. My goal now is to eat healthily routinely.

I love the GI diet. I feel well nourished on it. Looking forward to learning more with you guys.

melbob · 11/10/2005 20:06

Hi I'm back after an interesting holiday in france. Starting with me leaving all our accommodation details on the Ryan air desk and not realising til we were in the air!! Finished with food poisoning for DH and thank god for DS nappies on way home.

Anyway good news is that I have stayed the same weight which given the amount of bread and cheese we ate is a miracle and no doubt helped by the food poisoning!!

Well done Saker and Puff. Puff how come you have been promoted?? Welcome merry berry. I am 5ft 8 and started off at just a little bit less than you, I'm sure you'll do it

Saker · 11/10/2005 22:32

Welcome Merryberry.
Well done Melbob on staying the same though I'm sorry it was for unpleasant reasons. I hope you had quite a nice time all the same!

I am trying to stay approximately the same for the time being until after I go away for the weekend in a couple of weeks. Actually then going to Dh's parents the weekend after that so probably had better say until after then, as they have a moral objection to anyone not drinking under their roof . Then I will rejoin you properly.

merryberry · 12/10/2005 08:20

Saker your Dhs parents sound like fine fine people.

I'm still picking my teeth at last night's not so good GI crockpot stew thingy. I will not put mange tout in there so early next time. Weird grey floaty pieces they were. Ho hum. Roast chicken tonight it is. Dinners are easy as I put time into them, but I tend to leave out time for prepping lunch...and end up with some weird combos. Hoping the online food shop arrives on time so i can have soup today.

Also experimenting with making butternut squash gnocchi today before the poor thing in the veg drawer mutates into an intelligent life form.

melbob · 12/10/2005 17:09

My butternut squash is part of the family now it hink ewe have ahd it longer than DS!!
