oh ria i hope things improve and dh sorts it out. Make sure you take care of yourself and your health as he needs you tip top at the moment. Ot awful we someone is making someone you love suffer.

My 15 year old nephew had a knife held against his chest this week, in class by another pupil.

Don't worry about hijacking- it is mumsnet after all.

Always here to chatx

RIAchforthestars · 21/01/2009 22:22

bloody hell sep, that's awful is he ok?

what happened to sitting down and learning at school, as was the norm in my day?

sep1712 · 21/01/2009 22:33

He's fine thanks, he didn't even tell parents. The school told them the next day. School has excluded the lad for 1 week!!!

Nephew had wound him up in an earlier class the he flipped in cooking!!

He's a bit frightened for the first time in his life but still going to school.

We just had a quick shove in the corridor when i was a lass. lol

RIAchforthestars · 21/01/2009 22:39

I always wondered about the sense in cooking/woodwork lessons with all those tools, especially nowadays where you don't fit in if you don't have extreme behaviour (sorry for unfair generalisation of the yoof of today)

caykon · 22/01/2009 10:39

Hi everyone, can I join you all. I joined my local class last night (and wanted to cry when I got on the scales ) So today is my new start, first day on plan.
I am going to have a green day. I went to sainsburys this morning and did a big shop to stock up.
So far I have had a kiwi, pear and grapes chopped up with a vlf yoghurt
cup of tea
1/2 banana
1 pt water

planning on homemade carrot and lentil soup for lunch

then healthy extra chicken, loads of steamed veg and potatoes for dinner

I think i am doing this right and got the plans sorted in my head, please shout out if I am mixing things up

sep1712 · 22/01/2009 14:29

Hi caykon, welcome on board,

Well done for getting started.

Today looks good. Just make sure your eating enough to fill you up and satisfy you.

Have you done sw before?

The choc and orange alpen bars are my fav at the mo. 2 of them are a healthy extra B.

Any questions please ask.

just one query, what happened to the other half of the bannana?

MmeJaffaB · 22/01/2009 18:45

LOL sep at the other half of banana question.

Welcome caykon. You sound like you've got things sussed already.

Ria, I hope you get things sorted with ds. Stress is the worst thing really, but I know you want to achieve this. Look after yourself.

Hijack? whats that, surely we can just waffle and chit chat here too, the more we chat the more we stay out of the fridge....

I'm sorry I haven't been about much this week, (unlike me, I am a MN addict) but I'm feeling a bit Meh! I've been chasing my tail this week as fast as I do something 2 more things get added to my "to do" list. On top of that it's star week and the weather is soooooooooooooooo shiteeee I haven't been able to get out for a run.

I have been sticking to the plan though and really enjoying the freedom of extra easy....

Well done on the losses. Woooo Hoooo, we are doing this!

The weekend looms!

OP posts:
caykon · 22/01/2009 20:47

my ds stole the rest of the banana lol

sep1712 · 22/01/2009 21:22

Hows the first day gone then? caykon.

My dc have been eating so much better since i got myself back on plan. I do hide my nice prepared fruit at the top of the fridge so they don't pinch it. My jelly is a big no no aswell. So hide the nana's.

Jaffa its easy to lose your mojo when the weathers like this. Just do one job at a time.

You'll be very proud of me, i did 15mins on the tramopline with the kids!!!! I couldn't breath when i got off and my legs were all wobberly. I was ok after a ciggy though!.

caykon · 23/01/2009 08:58

My first day went really well 9#or at least I feel it did)
In the end i had fruit and yogurt for breakfast (turned out the yogurt was 3 syns so glad I checked it online)
snack I had half a banana
then lunch I had homemade carrot and lentil soup ( carrots, onion, apple, potato, chicken bovril, mixed herbs) and 5 scan bran
dinner was HE Chicken roast potatoes in frylight, brocoli, carrots, cabbage, green beans. 2 yorkshire puddings (6 syns) and gravy (2.5syns)
then a banana, apple, plum, ww lemon lime yogurt.

I also had about 4 cups of tea with milk from my HE A and about 5 pints of water.

Is it ok to list waht I'm eating, its just nice to have some reassurance I am doing it right, or some friendly advice if I did something wrong.

I am going for another green day today as we have the dsc tonight so I can make a giant quorn chilli and every one will enjoy it and be full, so will plan my day around that.

I love cooking and make all my meals from scratch so would love any tried and tested recipe ideas.

dearprudence · 23/01/2009 12:49

caykon - your day sounds perfect. You should get a good loss if you keep this up. I have to say that soup and scan bran wouldn't really satisfy me at lunchtime. Beans, then banana and mullerlight for me!

I only maintained this week - slightly but I did have 2 bad days at the weekend. And I've stuck to my target of at least 15 mins exercise every day. Yesterday I went to an aerobics class and worked really hard.

Ria - sounds like you're having a tough time - sorry. Of course we don't have to talk about our flipping diets the whole time!

WallofSilence - well done on the loss - I am . How was HSM on ice? I've only just watched the film for the first time and I must confess to being a bit hooked.

Right, I'm off to check the syn value of chorizo. I've always avoided it assuming it's too horrendous for words, but my sister reckons it's only 2.5 per oz - can this be true?

dearprudence · 23/01/2009 13:07

OK, if you're interested, syns for Chorizo as follows. Syn values vary quite a bit.

Tesco wafer thin chorizo, 100g pack - 8.5 syns
Tesco spanish chorizo slices, 80g pack - 7 syns
Tesco Chorizo Santa Dulce Ring (225g) - 27.5 syns
Asda Chorizo chilled 100g pack - 9 syns
Asda Extra Special Chorizo Iberico 80g pack - 13 syns

I'm going to make a chorizo and bacon sauce for pasta with tomatoes and vegetables(on extra easy, so the bacon is free).

Has anyone got this week's password - I'm still using 'apple' from 2 weeks ago and that can't last much longer now.

caykon · 23/01/2009 13:11

Chorizo is 2.5 syns for 28g on red, not sure how much you would get for that but worth a try if you really like it.

I'm glad my food for yesterday seems ok and to plan.

I am having another gren day today then might try some red of the weekend to try and get my head round both plans.

I had a pear, banana, kiwi, satsuma and ww yogurt for breakfast again today.

By the time i had finished all the little jobs around the house it was lunch time, i don't know where the morning went.

So for lunch I stir fried in fry light and soy sauce onion, pepper, courgette, broccoli, carrot, mushrooms, beansprouts and HE of leftover chicken from last night. I really enjoyed it but am a bit stuffed.

Going to go an make a quorn chilli in a minute for dinner ( it always tastes better when cooled and reheated) Will use onions, quorn, spices, bovril, tinned tomatoes, some lentils to bulk it out and baked beans. served with rice and salad.

Trying to save my syns for possible alcohol tonight as dsc are coming round and this usually involves a drink or 2 lol

caykon · 23/01/2009 13:12

password is Stilton

caykon · 24/01/2009 11:24

Another day has arrived!

Not sure what I want for dinner tonight so have had a neutral brekkie of pineapple, kiwi, grapes, and banana with a ww yogurt.

also sat trawling the net last night for some nice recipies to try, so will report back any good ones one tried!

MmeJaffaB · 24/01/2009 12:08

Saturday night, the boys have homemade pizza's, I have homemade, SW burgers and chips. I'm too tempted to have pizza if I don't have something nice that feels a little naughty.

Feeling a little better today, did some research into dn's condition last night. Although it's not good news all the way there is a chance she will recover from this. Done the crying and the scared bit now, time to be positive.

Thanks for your well wishes.

Don't feel like I've lost this week, haven't been bad but have been a little lazy and probably not eating enough. It has poured with rain constantly since Wednesday, the river has burst it's banks so I haven't got out for my runs either. Not that I've felt much like it this week anyway.
Only made the 1 aerobics, 3 dance classes and 1 run instead of 3 this week!

OP posts:
caykon · 24/01/2009 12:52

jaffa - could you make yourself a low syn pizza.
half a muffin (about 8 for both bits syns) make a basic tomato sauce from tinned tomatoes chopped onion garlic a bit sweetner simmered till thick and blended, he cheese and loads veg. Have just half for 4 syns plus your burger and chips.
just an idea don't know if it would be a good subsitute or not.

MmeJaffaB · 24/01/2009 13:15

Thanks caycon, they are delish! Still not quite the same, YKWIM! Tonight I am definately using my syns on wine, I didn't have any last night in the end! Had a hot chocolate instead.....ooooops!
