Hope I didn't offend Ria. If you're getting hungry I think it's a sign your metabolism is working like crazy which means you're losing weight. Mind you, I also have a theory that if you're weeing a lot you're losing weight too, so I clearly talk a lot of nonsense.

I've been v good today and have even made scan bran cake - I'm going to try a bit now.

keepingitRia · 05/02/2009 22:12

what is scanbran cake? enjoy!

You didn't offend me. It takes a lot (very thick skin dontya know, it accounts for a lot of my weight!) and any other day you could well have been right. I have done a lot more activity the last few days than over the last couple of weeks, so that could be a factor. I got all faint and wobbly when I got in from schoolrun again too. Won't have time to cook breakfast tomorrow, but on Saturday I will be trying the "big breakfast" theory.

keepingitRia · 05/02/2009 22:14

oh, and I have been weeing a lot whilst being hungry, so I'll be a size 10 nest week

actually, I have to repeat my urine test tomorrow (so the GP can "compare"), so maybe I'm still not 100%, and it could have been a UTI as GP suspected (though I had no pain so I'm not convinced, last time I had one it was agony)

caykon · 06/02/2009 13:02

I wish this snow would go so dh could go back to work, he is really getting under my feet.

Yesterday I had a bit of a tummy bug so didnt eat much half a jacket potato cheese and beans and then a few roasties 2 dumlings and some sweetcorn (which I think i pretty much threw back up)

Today I am feeling much better. Was getting very low on veg and some other bits so had a drive in the snow to sainsburys and picked up some great bargains on loads of fruit veg meat and fish. (it is extremely bad weather wise here so obviously they are not getting as many customers so things are getting close to date) my freezer is now nice and healthy.

Had pineapple kiwi grapes and ww yoghurt for breakfast and just had a lovely bowl of leek and potato soup for lunch with a whoemeal roll.
Going to have a roast for tea, with my £1.95 whole organic chicken some roasties, and veg

I must try and ignore dh and potter and be as organised as I usually am. He makes more mess than the kids though!!

sep1712 · 06/02/2009 13:25

Still snowed in here!!! dh got to work but took my car so really isolated!!I wish he was here so we could have a nice long week end. Forgot my kids snack sooo much, its so tempting. So i made my fav soup and filling me up. Don't know what to make for tea? any ideas? Does anyone know what the choc snackerjackets are syn'd at please?

FourArms · 06/02/2009 14:08

The jumbo ones are 3 syns each on either red or green.

Does anybody know the best sort of things to eat from the chinese?

sep1712 · 06/02/2009 15:08

I think a black bean sauce is the lowest.

Thanks for the syn value.

caykon · 08/02/2009 12:33

Whats happened to everyone? Hope the quietness is not a sign of a bad weekend!

WallOfSilence · 08/02/2009 12:43

Hi..I'm about this afternoon, just reading for a bit of inspiration.

I haven't been on since last week when I was ill.

I had 2lb on on Wednesday night but I have been very good so far this week & Saturday nights are my danger spot & I did OK.

I have been following the EE plan in this months magazine... I just adapt the recipes if I don't like them. For example this morning's breakfast should have been something involving a tin of tomates, garlic & herbs or something....the look of the picture made me want to heave so I had a huge bowl of fruit salad with v.low fat fromage frais on it, was delicious.

I didn't realise just how little syns I was having before...this is the first week I have had a ripple bar, a bag of quavers, alcohol etc..... I think this EE plan might just work for me...only problem is I would be lost without the meal plan to follow!!

How's everyone else doing this week??

keepingitRia · 08/02/2009 16:25

my silence indicates more stress. More DS1 stress on Friday (and had I had had such a lovely day out with Dsis too) and yesterday ended up in A&E with DS2, twice

On the plus side my new SW mag came in the post yesterday, so I am going to settle down and read that tonight when the DCs are in bed and I've emailed my OU stuff. And am all stocked up for EE this week. Didn't weigh in yesterday with it not being a full week, will wait til next week, then hopefully I'll have a good loss.

I have an iffy tummy today though

keepingitRia · 08/02/2009 19:33

not an urgent query (as I haven't got any) but does anyone know what syns in a creme egg? or a mini creme egg?
TIA

WallOfSilence · 08/02/2009 20:42

Hi Ria

Mini creme eggs are 2.5syns on whatever day you choose to eat them.

Standard creme eggs are 9 syns whatever day you choose.

A creme egg twisted bar is 10.5 syns whatever day (hence I would be tempted to make this choice...a bar seems better than an egg!)

A dairy milk with creme egg bar is 10.5 too.

The creme egg ice lollies are 12syns each... so not owrth it if you ask me, but then I'm not an ice-cream person!

Although I did have 1 scoop of mint choc chip with loads of fruit for dessert this evening... after my very plain but tasty dinner of pan fried chicken breast, sw roasties, sprouts & broccoli!

keepingitRia · 08/02/2009 21:07

thanks WoS. They are eggs, they should be free will go for full size egg or bar, though I like the thick chocolate of the egg (when I was little I used to eat them like a boiled egg, I think I nicked the tiny spoon I used to use from my mum too. But they were bigger back then!)

WallOfSilence · 08/02/2009 21:11

See, I can never ever just eat a cremem egg!! I have to have them with a bag of salt & vinegar mini chips

I then dip the mini chips into the egg 'yolk' & eat it that way..thus leaving an empty chocolate egg to eat with a warm cup of tea................. naughty!!

keepingitRia · 08/02/2009 21:17

mmm, worth a try one day perhaps.

MmeJaffaB · 08/02/2009 23:10

bad weekend here, all round, news not good with DN, miricle needed we fear thus, head not in right place and I have scoffed all manner of crap.

Now I feel guilty and have to weigh in tom. I have to find the will to get back on track. ffs, I've done 5.2stone on this before, it's not rocket science. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

OP posts:
keepingitRia · 08/02/2009 23:47

Don't feel guilty MJB. Your mind is somewhere else and sometimes things crop up that take all we have to think about them and that leaves us with nothing left for the things that aren't as important at the time.
Thinking of you all. x

MmeJaffaB · 09/02/2009 09:47

Thanks Ria, 1/2 pound on, I'm quite happy with that tbh compared to what I've eaten.

I madee the mistake last night of erching neuroblastoma on here..........it was a bad move.

OP posts:
keepingitRia · 09/02/2009 10:32

MJB, it must be hard.

If you're determined to carry on with losing weight maybe change it in your mind to "keeping yourself healthy" for now, less pressure that way, but still enough of a goal to keep you focused.

Have started with a banana before school run, and a big breakfast since I got back. Am really going to give it some this week! I only have reading to do for my course this week so I can focus on me a bit more (I hope, DH has to ring the school about DS1 this afternoon. I am trying to be calm and think they need to get over themselves, but obviously their version will be different to DS1s and they aren't going to be at fault are they)

dearprudence · 09/02/2009 13:48

Oh, MJB. Am hoping for that miracle you need. Have been thinking about you and your poor DN a lot lately.

I think Ria's idea of just trying to keep healthy is a good one.

As for me, I'm just tucking into a toffee mullerlight with bits of scan bran cake and sliced banana in. It's bloody delicious!

keepingitRia · 10/02/2009 09:34

dearprudence, how do you make/what is scanbran cake?

I need to step up my campaign big time - my best jeans have a hole in and I don't want to buy any more in that size.

dearprudence · 10/02/2009 22:15

Aah, scan bran cake. Not for those who hate scan bran or who are trying to limit their intake of aspartame!

I'm assuming you know what scan bran is - the crackers you buy at class. They are 85% bran, 15% super-strength wallpaper paste.

Break up 5 scan bran into a bowl (power tools not usually required).
Add boiling water to cover them, and wait for them to go really soggy (a good 5-10 mins). Difficult to describe the consistency, but it should be enough to make them properly saturated but shouldn't be swimming in water.

Add a cup of granulated sweetener, 1oz cocoa powder (4.5 syns), 3 eggs. Some versions include a tablespoon of golden syrup (2 syns). I don't add this but I usually put in 1/2oz raisins or sultanas (2 syns). Beat together well and cook in the microwave for about 7 mins, until it's firm in the middle and starting to pull away from the sides of the dish.

Some recipes suggest that you spread 1 level tbsp of Nutella on the top (4 syns) but I never do this.

The scan bran are 1/2 syn each, so my version of the cake is 9 syns for the whole thing. I cut it up into 10 pieces and call each one 1 syn. I'd usually eat 2 or 3 pieces in a day, but even if you scoffed the lot it's not horrendous. And frankly, you wouldn't.

HTH

keepingitRia · 10/02/2009 22:32

thanks dearprudence. may or may not try that.

veered off-plan again today. Have to go to doctors tomorrow at their request following my second urine test. So obviously, being me, I have over-reacted and have spent the day imagining all kinds of as-yet-undiscovered diseases I might have. I actually have need-to-get-a-grip-itis. Won't be having my cooked breakfast in the morning(too nervy), but aim to be back on plan by lunchtime all being well of course. It is around 3 weeks til DM&F get back from their hols and I have lost 1/2 stone. DM is not likely to notice (although she will be pleased)

haven't even been out for a walk today as DS2 is poorly. I think he may be suffering from shock a bit, as well as having a cold to add to his woes(he fell in the street on Saturday and badly cut his chin, we had to go to A&E and have him glued up. He is only just 5 and was remarkably brave, but I think it's knocked the stuffing out of him a bit and school was maybe too much yesterday)

I think I need to develop a strategy for days that aren't going my way

sep1712 · 11/02/2009 10:06

Hi all.

Haven't been around for awhile, been poorly poorly, only tonsil's but counld have cut my throat open i was in sooo much pain. Bit better today, but i've just been in bed!
