⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5523585-lose-it-motivational-may-2026?reply=152568153

Here we are with our June LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.

  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.

  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.

  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.

  5. Stay hydrated! 💧

  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.

  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩

  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.

  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!

  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

@Pasta4Dinner , that's some progress, right? Fingers crossed for 6 weeks time, it's looking good.

@DreamingOfGeneHunt , 'kitchen hotter than satan's armpit' 😂.

After hearing so much about cottage cheese on Mumsnet, while browsing the shelves in the supermarket as you do, I noticed cottage cheese. I bought some to try. So for the first time, i had cottage cheese yesterday. I liked it, i think.

I am not really a dairy person and never really paid attention to dairy products until adulthood. Please, help a novice. I thought this is a good place to ask.
What sort of foods can accompany cottage cheese? What can i eat it with?

BreakingBroken · 27/06/2026 17:25

indeed the hot kitchen description was 😂 @DreamingOfGeneHunt
i've kind of lost my "zone" and will try to get back into it asap.
i'm overeating cherries...they cause me no issues and the pantry is full of nuts which really call my name when i'm stressed so i'm not surprised that i'm not loosing any weight and the gentle dog/dh walks are simply not doing much.
fancy scale says i'm loosing fat and building muscle but i just need to do a tiny bit "more"
sincere hopes for those suffering in the heat that cooler winds are on the horizon.

Cottage cheese is lovely with baked potato and crispy bacon (admittedly not a diet food Grin)
I like it on its own with blueberries.

BreakingBroken · 27/06/2026 18:12

Dd and I were just discussing cottage cheese, she asked what I was having for breakfast; cottage cheese with pineapple over here is my fave she said that’s a very Canada thing.
Healthy easy to calculate 150 cal filling breakfast.

10kstepsaday · 27/06/2026 22:13

I'm with you on the no sleeping through the night! My eldest is nearly 8 and never slept through yet 😥 @Flora1985

Hope everyone is surviving in the heat... I am definitely surviving not thriving.

Breakfast: Berry Smoothie
Lunch: Cheese Salad
Dinner: Vegetable Bake
Snacks: Nakd Bar

I did manage to do some exercise today - 20 minutes full body dumbbell.
Havent weighed myself again... I think I might leave it now until Tuesday to summarise June, then make a plan for July.

Rosetime · 28/06/2026 06:02

So cottage cheese and fruit.

Cottage cheese, baked potato and bacon sounds like i would find it yummy.

Well done on your dumbbell workout @10kstepsaday , that's great.

Fellsbells · 28/06/2026 08:37

@Rosetime I’ve seen reels of cottage cheese being blended and added to recipes.

I’ve had an unexpected whoosh and hit my goal weight today. Obviously I’m a couple of weeks off owning it, but it’s great to hit it. I’m going to adjust down another 2lbs and see how that looks and feels.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 28/06/2026 08:43

14 stone 11 this morning!

FridayNighFeeling · 28/06/2026 16:25

Hi all, just a quick check in. I am 5lbs up at the moment - I am hoping that now the temperature has dropped, it may come down to a less disheartening amount.

Have a good week all.

10kstepsaday · 28/06/2026 21:53

Well Done @Fellsbells thats awesome!!

Feeling more motivated again now! The week before my period is always a mess and then I get soooo much energy back on cycle day 1!

Breakfast: Smoothie
Lunch: Lentil Bolognese with Wholewheat Spaghetti
Dinner: Meatballs
Snacks: Apple & Nakd Bar

45 minute full body Heather Robertson dumbells complete this morning.

BreakingBroken · 28/06/2026 22:12

well done @Fellsbells swoosh away
@10kstepsaday i'm slowly getting back into the zone; new month on the horizon and looking back, the month of june was not so bad which will help for july.

Pasta4Dinner · 28/06/2026 22:21

I don’t think I’ve ever hit my target @Fellsbells amazing.

Ive also never eaten cottage cheese, it kinda scares me!

BreakingBroken · 28/06/2026 23:26

@Pasta4Dinner it's very similar to ricotta, the cheese commonly used in lasagna, cannelloni and spanakopita except the curds are bigger. the curds are soft not chewy and less "flavor" than yogurt. to me it pairs well with pineapple, melon and cherries.

LemonDrizzle23 · 29/06/2026 07:49

I keep seeing cottage cheese used blended and I think I’m going to give that a try - I can’t stomach the look of it when it’s all lumpy 😬

We are back from hols and thankful England has cooled down in time for our return! The travel delays caused by the heat and thunderstorms were erm, exciting. But nice to be home.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 29/06/2026 08:06

Non scale victory yesterday- I could fit on the swings at the playground!

10kstepsaday · 29/06/2026 17:48

Well done @DreamingOfGeneHunt 😃

Breakfast: Raspberry & Banana Smoothie
Lunch: Lentil Bolognese
Dinner: Chicken Fajitas
Snacks: Hungry day today - 1 x apple, 1 x nakd bar, 2 x boiled eggs, 1 custard cream (just one though!)

15 minutes of HIIT and 1 hour yoga class for me today.
Will do a final weigh-in for June tomorrow AM.

CinnamonSweet73 · 29/06/2026 18:59

A bit of an over indulgent weekend here so the scales was up this morning! Going to try and have 3 good weeks of eating well and exercise now before I head off on holidays!

Fellsbells · 30/06/2026 06:53

Another month has flown by. June has been my most consistent, healthy and balanced weight loss ever. 5.5lbs down after a last minute whoosh.

socks1107 · 30/06/2026 08:10

I bounced down and straight up and am now sitting at the same stalled weight I was in March/april.
frustrated doesn’t come close and I’m on my calories daily etc so don’t know what else to do: I’ve tried a maintenance few weeks, increased exercise etc. I can’t decrease calories I boarder on hungry most days as it as. Considering weight loss pills after my July holiday, I just about qualify thanks to my high blood pressure

moondip · 30/06/2026 10:01

Hi everyone. I’m feeling a bit glum to be honest. The month had been going pretty well until the heatwave, which totally threw me off food and exercise wise. And now I’ve got mastitis again at 12 months postpartum (not even trying to wean DD so idk what’s going on there…). I’m undecided as to whether I’ll do WoW tomorrow as I’m thinking I might benefit from a bit of a step back from the scales and to just let myself try to eat a bit more intuitively for a bit. I dunno. Feeling very mehhh. 🫣

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 30/06/2026 10:17

@moondip oh that's rough, I hope you feel better soon!

Oh no @moondip I really feel for you. I hope you get some relief soon! You definitely need to put your own sense of wellbeing and recovery before any weigh loss pressure. Let your body guide you to what nourishment you need. ❤️

I’m ending the month a couple of lbs up due to heat oedema. I did gain around 5lbs when the weather was at it hottest and I’ve lost 3lbs of that so the scales are moving in the right direction.

Ending the month on 9st 5lbs (weight from 2 days ago as I forget to weigh this morning) but I’m confident the extra 2lbs water weight will soon dissipate. It would be nice if tomorrow’s WOW sees it gone. On the whole I’m maintaining but ideally I’d love another half stone gone. Not going to stress about it.

Oh @socks1107 that's so frustrating when you're putting in so much effort! I don't know much about the pills but worth looking into.

@moondip Sorry to hear you're feeling so glum! Not helped by being unwell so hope you feel better soon.

@TheRealHousewife I'm sure it will be gone soon! And thanks for the new thread!
