⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5523585-lose-it-motivational-may-2026?reply=152568153

Here we are with our June LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.

  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.

  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.

  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.

  5. Stay hydrated! 💧

  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.

  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩

  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.

  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!

  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

I think I’m gonna brave daily weighing for a bit from tomorrow as it seems that’s how Happy Scale can be most useful. ChatGPT had a good line about daily weighing for me: “For you right now: yes—daily weigh-ins can be really useful, if you treat them as data rather than a verdict on how you’re doing.“ I think I’m gonna try and hold onto that and see how amassing more “data” can help me shift the next few KGs. 📉 📊 🙏 😆

Hello all, checking in for June! After three months of bugger all weight loss I’m not aiming for miracles, if I can be a couple of pounds less at the end of the month than I am now I’ll be satisfied, and am really pleased with myself to have kept going for the past year despite it not all being plain sailing.

Today’s menu was:

L - crispy rice omelette
D - chicken skewers, flatbreads, salad

All delicious and I’m full up so hoping I don’t succumb to post bedtime snacks!

So pleased to hear your health news @TheWayTheLightFalls, that’s brilliant, and even more so that you’re feeling confident and happy in your body too 💜

Imthefunfriend · 31/05/2026 21:49

Signing off for the evening, managed not to eat any crap tonight which is a rarity for me.

Have been reading the thread and I’m also going to weigh in every day because sometimes if I have a really good week food wise and then STS it can completely demotivate me, so hoping to avoid that and just see each day how it’s going.

LemonDrizzle23 · 31/05/2026 21:58

@FridayNighFeeling and @TheRealHousewife we have ordered a John Ryan design mattress. Made in Yorkshire! Won’t arrive for a few weeks yet, but then we can have 60 days to see if we like it and then they’ll take it away and bring us another if we want to try softer / firmer etc. which I thought was pretty good.

@TheWayTheLightFalls that’s such a beautiful update, I’m very pleased for you and your family ☺️

BreakingBroken · Yesterday 01:59

@moondip i was fit to be tied the day i lost 2 weeks of "data" due to a scale glitch (new scale data didn't fully transfer, apparently no back up) i was in an unpleasant mood as my graph had a large section missing.

i hope you enjoy your data collection and subsequent graph. i weigh daily to help keep me focused.

LemonDrizzle23 · Yesterday 07:05

@moondip Im also trying to weigh daily, as happy scale definitely is more accurate then.

June starting weight 13 st 10.2

PipkinOfPepper · Yesterday 07:20

Singing in for June! Thanks for the new thread.

SW (January): 111.05kg
CW: 95.3kg
GW: 78-80kg

Goals for June are: increase steps, add in some yoga, and get down to 93kg (at this point if I lose 1kg a fortnight I should hit 80kg at the end of the year, though I know weight loss slows down the more you lose so I’m fine with hitting my goal weight in 2027). I think these are all manageable, so fingers crossed.

Chocolatebuttons88 · Yesterday 07:26

Please can I join in? Was 147.3 kilos at beginning of Feb, now 126.2 kilos, but been here for three weeks. June 1st. Need some accountability and support. Went to an OA meeting last night. Going to a gentle gym class tonight (first sport in years). If I stick around on this board and encourage others, I'll feel better. Teamwork. Xx

moondip · Yesterday 07:27

@BreakingBroken That must’ve been frustrating! And good point about daily weighing keeping you focused. I think I need that. I was worried about getting demotivated by fluctuations but am seeing so much of that now anyway that my weight loss has slowed down - time for a different approach 🙏

My weight at the top of the month is 88.5kg. I am down 13.6kg from the start of the year.

SW: 102.1kg
CW: 88.5kg
GW: 80kg (I am now aiming for 85kg by mid-July)

Here is too a good month for us all!

Pasta4Dinner · Yesterday 07:47

79kg so this means I have lost exactly 10kg since last July, it’s been slow. I was 68kg in 2020 but I have much more muscle now so not sure I would go as low.

TheWayTheLightFalls · Yesterday 09:29

Thanks all for the messages of support, that's so lovely.

OMAD here today. Let's see how it goes, not much a plan at the mo. I have a date this weekend with a new partner and I suspect clothes will be coming off so that's a very good incentive!

Fellsbells · Yesterday 09:30

Good morning. Checking in for another month. Aiming for a slow and steady loss of 2lbs in June. That will take me to goal weight and set me up for continuing if I want. Crashing down and shooting up is not an option anymore (I’ve said that before, but I actually believe it now). This weeks wow will hopefully show that I’ve got the balance right. I don’t feel hungry or tired so this could work long term as long as there’s some weight coming off as well. I am weighing ever day, but the difference is so subtle I need at least a week, ideally two, to see if it’s working.

Good luck for June everyone.

TheRealHousewife · Yesterday 09:38

Good Morning & Happy 1st June ☀️

WOM - 9st 4lb 😮 Back to measuring and weighing foods ⚖️ For June I’m weighing Monday mornings on my Smart Scale and by the month end I’ll have 5 lots of data to see progress (if any 😅) I’ll also pop on on Wednesday for official WOW. I’m trying to incorporate light weights again when joints/energy permit 👍

Welcome to the thread @Fellsbells @BreakingBroken @JustOneMoreMargarita @DreamingOfGeneHunt @biscuitcat @PipkinOfPepper @Chocolatebuttons88

@LemonDrizzle23 A proper Yorkshire mattress from John Ryan sounds awesome! Sounds an excellent service with being able to swap etc. Was you able to test any before purchase?

Menu
Meal 1 - Mediterranean Omelette. Side salad.
Meal 2 - Mackerel Salad. Greek yoghurt.
Drinks - Tea, black coffee and water.

In recent months when prepping salad and Greek yoghurt etc I just lob a few nuts and seeds on (as per Zoe) for the fibre, healthy fats and protein. As I’m nailing down my portion control I’ve decided to weigh out individual daily portions into little pots. Seeing the small amount (27g) in each pot = 175 calories I can say hand on heart I’ve definitely been eating too many 🤭.

I'm a bit desperate so here I am! Been drinking far too much and feeling very porky, so I've put myself on a Dry June. I need my clothes to fit nicely again ASAP.

TheRealHousewife · Yesterday 12:25

Welcome to the thread @DryTerryandJUNE Do you have a specific plan or making any specific dietary changes ? Hopefully your clothes will soon be fitting and feeling more svelte like 🤞

Hello, I'm in! Thank you @TheRealHousewife for this thread!
I will be following the Paul McKenna 90 day plan (it worked well twice for me before and is the only programme flexible enough to accomodate my hectic lifestyle). I am very much an emotional eater so need to work on that. I'm not setting a goal for myself weightwise. I want to see what I weigh on August 1st. I'm now at 11 st 9 pounds (5"4). I know I only have 60 days and the plan is for 90... starting too late for summer. But better late than never right? + 21 days should establish a habit... good luck to everybody on this thread!

TheRealHousewife · Yesterday 13:05

Hi @Asiana I agree in that it’s never too late to make healthy changes. I don’t know anything about the 90 day PM plan but as you say, it’s worked for you before 👍

Cutting out the wine etc will have a massive effect. I'm also eating lowish carb and using nutracheck to calorie/carb count. I eat very healthily nutritionally normally, just far too much.

The only difficulty I'm expecting is feeling the loss of sugar from the booze, but I think I'll just WFH less so I am too busy focusing on commuting etc instead of scouring the fridge. The first few days... Got to hang on in there for results 😬💪😫

Hello everyone I’m on Slimming World and achieved a six stone weight loss and called a final target at 9stone 5lbs (59.5Kg)I was thrilled as you would image and I maintained it for nearly a year then health issues started and I was diagnosed with Thyrotoxicosis which it was confirmed as being caused by Graves’ disease (autoimmune disease, lifelong) I was put on medication and I started gaining weight, I was still on Slimming World but I just kept gaining and I have put on three stones. My consultant Endocrinologist seems to think its just one of those things and I am putting on what I lost because of my Thyroid being over active, I did lose the last three stones very fast. Anyway I am now back to the weight I was when I first called target with a three stone loss and I really would love to get at least another stone off. I am in a Graves’ support group and there are so many people who are struggling with their weight. I am really fed up at the moment.

DryTerryandJUNE · Yesterday 15:53

I weighed myself and need to lose 7.9kg to reach my first goal of 69.9kg (all very specific!). That would take my BMI to 23 which I'd be fine with, I think.

Is it possible to lose weight but just very hard work? Have you tried fasting and low-ish carb? I remember from years back Slimming World encouraged lower carb healthy food. Can you take it a step further adding in longer fasts?
Totally appreciate this may not be possible with your medication etc. It's just such a shame to have been there then watched the scales go back up again through (presumably) no fault of your own 😩

10kstepsaday · Yesterday 16:19

Hello All, please can I join too :)

I am back from a holiday, and I am now 99% made of pain au chocolate 😆

I have set myself a 20 week goal - long term to take things slowly and take off any pressure but also that is when I go away again! There were a lot of photos taken on my recent holiday where I just looked so puffy and unhealthy. I'm quite determined for that to change.

I weighed this morning and am 10 stone 8.6lbs.
My first target will be 9 stone 7lbs, and then possibly continuing on to 9 stone. I am a daily weigher.

Today's food has been:
Breakfast: Oats, Almond Milk, Raspberries and Flaxseed.
Lunch: Chickpea Salad
Dinner will be: Beans on Toast with the kids 😅
Snack: Apple Slices with Peanut Butter

TheRealHousewife · Yesterday 16:53

@DryTerryandJUNE Sounds like a plan. You’re half way there due to acknowledging where you’re at and identifying where you want to be. Consistency over perfection will get you there.👍

Welcome to the thread @10kstepsaday @MummyMags3 The ladies are on these threads are really supportive and encouraging; they will be gladly cheering you on 👍

Hello, thanks for your message. It has to be possible, I think I just need to tighten my belt a bit with regards to SW (Slimming World) we are allowed 15 SWIPS, used to be Sins, which are foods that we try to limit I plan on trying to keep it to ten and under and also monitor how much I am eating of the foods that are classified as unlimited foods that you can eat until you are satisfied, not over stuffed. I shall try to keep to eating mainly vegetables and fruits and lean chicken and fish. I shall see how I get on.
