⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5523585-lose-it-motivational-may-2026?reply=152568153

Here we are with our June LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.

  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.

  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.

  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.

  5. Stay hydrated! 💧

  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.

  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩

  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.

  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!

  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

I’m a bit behind on the thread, but I’m in Scotland, no heat problems here. Today was the first day in ages that it hasn’t rained. My patio furniture is mostly gathering dust.

LemonDrizzle23 · 21/06/2026 07:15

Woke up this morning to an official loss of 28.1lbs! Two stone off! Glad to have things moving again.

SW: 15st 8.5
CW: 13 st 8.4

Next big goal I think will be 12 st 12, as that will make me officially “overweight” instead of obese.

It’s going to be 37C here on Tuesday and Wednesday apparently - thankfully we will not be here, we will be away for a few days with a pool and air conditioning! So we appear to have timed that well 😬

FridayNighFeeling · 21/06/2026 09:55

Well done @LemonDrizzle23 and great timing with being away.

I'm up 1kg/2lbs Hmm know that's not food so will just keep on and see what the scales say again a few days post heatwave.

moondip · 21/06/2026 11:26

Well done @LemonDrizzle23 🙌 Have a lovely break!

BreakingBroken · 21/06/2026 18:06

lovely mini milestone and goal setting @LemonDrizzle23
and yuk on the 37C
i hope you enjoy a well deserved holiday.

besides new wardrobe ideas, i too am dreaming of a real holiday. no kids or grandkids something just "for me" and yes dh can tag along but i have a idea (not sure if it's realistic).
all's well on the food front (i bet i'm short on water these days), "exercise" has take a back seat but i have been moving just not purposeful cardio the past few days.
started the day with a 7am swim, thanks again to my neighbor who attends daily and getting ready for a ddog/dh/stroll up in the grasslands. it won't be cardio but it will meet my daily step requirements.

moondip · 22/06/2026 07:01

Ahhh, it all goes out the window when there’s a sick bubba in the house doesn’t it? I was alright during the day yesterday but then realised I was in for a rough night with my poor DD and scoffed half a bar of (90% dark, at least) chocolate before bed 😬

TheWayTheLightFalls · 22/06/2026 07:10

Morning! Notionally signing in for OMAD but I had some sort of stomach bug yesterday and ate next to nothing, and not sure what I’ll manage today. Lots of cold water if nothing else!

Imthefunfriend · 22/06/2026 07:43

Checking in after a week MIA. Weighed in this morning and I’m still on a 2lb loss for June so hoping to get back on track and lose another one this week.

Fellsbells · 22/06/2026 10:16

Signing in for the week. The weekend was fine, I stuck within calories and did some exercise.

RoseInAPot · 22/06/2026 15:29

Hello all, I’ll jump in if I may.

I have been on these threads back in the day and have been successfully maintaining for a while until I had major surgery in the spring. Lack of mobility (I usually exercise pretty vigorously and regularly) and a DH who insisted on ‘feeding me up’ so I could regain my strength has seen me gain a few kilos since Christmas.

I have a holiday coming up in the last week of July so would like to make some headway before then. Have a celebration coming up tomorrow so plan is to weigh on Wednesday and see where I am at. Long term I would like to be back to my fighting weight before Christmas which should be doable as I am allowed to exercise normally again and ready to get a good calorie deficit going.

10kstepsaday · 23/06/2026 08:15

Catching up on the thread!
I have had a funny few days where Fathers Day social plans this weekend combined with the heat and being due on my period have just thrown me and my usual routine completely out of the window. Lots of treat foods have been had, probably undoing all my hard work so far 😩havent weighed myself to find out yet. Will join in with WOW tomorrow and go from there.

I needed to have a bit more of a solid plan of what to do at social events when there is abundance of food and drinks and temptations. Indeed I also need to recognise that it doesnt have to spiral completely out of control and that one or two treats doesnt mean "sod it, i might as well continue now".

The week before my period I find the food noise unbearable, just seeking and searching for as much sugar as possible, whilst having very little energy to continue working out.

I have asked AI to put a meal plan together for this week which will help me stay a bit more stable and satisfy sugar cravings without undoing my weight loss so far. So lets see how that goes!!

Hlglu56 · 23/06/2026 12:52

@10kstepsaday I could have wrote this! I’ve just come back from a weekend away filled with birthday and Father’s Day celebrations. Plenty of cake, take-aways and alcohol have been consumed. I can be good all week and then the weekend comes and everything goes out of the window.

I’ve come on this morning so expecting a gain this week. Let me know how the AI plan goes because I really struggle the week before.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 23/06/2026 13:55

Afternoon! Hot enough for everyone? I just got out of work and look like a hairy tomato.

Still 14 stone 13, been trying to drink more water and stay away from carbs because they make me swell up if it's hot.

Pasta4Dinner · 23/06/2026 15:07

at least there is air conditioning at the gym!
back down to my lowest weight today and have been and done leg day. Fingers crossed for an actual lost tomorrow.
Happy Scale is atill telling me it will take 6 weeks to lose another 0.9kg! I go away in 7 weeks and would really really like to be 2.5kg lighter, don’t think that will happen though.
salad for tea at least.

10kstepsaday · 23/06/2026 22:12

@Hlglu56 it's frustrating isn't it? I will share the AI response if you like.
I have followed it loosely today and I did find it a bit easier to swerve the sugar.

Breakfast: Oats, Cacao Powder, Soya Milk, Frozen Raspberries
Lunch: Hummus & Chicken Wholemeal Wrap
Dinner: Chicken Stir Fry - only ate half, lost appetite at this point in the day with this heat
Snacks: Fage with Fruit, 1 chocolate twirl....

1 short outdoor walk.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 24/06/2026 06:26

Morning! 66.0kg this morning, maintaining well. My appetite vanishes in this weather, so that’s something.

Good luck wowers!

Hlglu56 · 24/06/2026 07:19

Current weight: 11st
Back up this week but was expecting it as it’s that time of the month and I am feeling so bloated.

goal weight: 10st

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 24/06/2026 08:11

Not weighing myself today because I'm a sweaty swollen mess! Plus I ate a share bag of crisps because I wanted salt, just before bed.

I don't even know what I want to eat today. I wish I wasn't going to work in a kitchen!!

CinnamonSweet73 · 24/06/2026 09:20

Morning all! Half a kg under target today so delighted with that.
Coming to the end of the 3 month coaching I was doing so now the challenge of maintaining the weight begins! Which as we all know can sometimes be harder than losing!

moondip · 24/06/2026 09:33

I’m not weighing today and haven’t for a few days despite daily weighing going well for me for a couple of weeks now. I’ll get back on it when it cools down I think. Right now I’m in survival mode as my baby wants to be glued to me 24/7 in this heat 😵‍💫

RoseInAPot · 24/06/2026 10:14

I’m going to use my Happy Scale trend weight as I fluctuate a lot day to day, especially in this weather.

Starting weight is 66.5kg. Ugh, worse than I thought!

I have set what should be a manageable target of 0.5kg per week and need to lose 1.3kg to hit my first milestone of 65.2kg.
HS says I should hit that on 13th July.

Long term goal is 58.5kg but I would be delighted to be anywhere below 60kg (I’m fairly short, 1.61m)

Lowish carbs, counting calories, logging on Nutracheck.

ChunkyMonkey36 · 24/06/2026 11:24

1lb off this week, still chipping away!

SW: 16st 10lb (106.1kg)
CW: 15st 7.5lbs (98.7kg)

Total lost: 16.5lbs (7.4kg)

PipkinOfPepper · 24/06/2026 13:37

WOW from this morning, haven't had time to post until now.

SW: 111.05 kg (4th January 2026)
CW: 91.45 kg
GW: 78-80 kg and then see

The scale on Monday said 92.2 and yesterday 91.8 so I'm taking today's reading with a pinch of salt, especially as I've not been able to be as active as I'd like due to the heatwave. However I'm probably eating less heavy food (though lots of ice cream / iced coffee) so who knows!

I've officially lost 3 stone though (and very nearly 20kg) which is feels like a pretty huge milestone. I was hoping to have lost that much by the 4th July which would be six months after starting so I'm thrilled to be there a little bit early. I won't be celebrating with food though!

PipkinOfPepper · 24/06/2026 13:38

I've eaten so many crisps recently in the evening as well, I think it's downing water all day and then suddenly my body is just like "give me salt". Oops!

Fellsbells · 24/06/2026 14:47

I’m half a lb down from last Wednesday.
