⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5523585-lose-it-motivational-may-2026?reply=152568153

Here we are with our June LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.

  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.

  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.

  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.

  5. Stay hydrated! 💧

  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.

  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩

  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.

  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!

  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

@DreamingOfGeneHunt Hugs. I went through a plateau and some gains in April/May. It really sucks because you are trying to stay motivated, and of course what really does that is seeing the scales go down. It did pass. Try to be kind to yourself. Unfortunately weight loss isn’t much of a linear process 😒

BreakingBroken · 16/06/2026 13:40

@DreamingOfGeneHunt if the exercise is new it will likely be water retention. The potassium in bananas is helpful at flushing that retention but it may be a few days.
Do you have a smart scale; when your weight isn’t dropping it will pick up changes in body composition and will show stable weight but muscle gain and fat loss.
Keep up the good work.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 16/06/2026 13:50

@BreakingBroken no just a digital scale and a wobbly bathroom floor which I don't think helps!
I'll get some bananas. Made an effort to drink extra water today as well.
Thank you all, I know that realistically it can't be actual weight because I haven't eaten that many extra calories, but it's a bit dispiriting seeing it on the scale!

Sunflowers83 · 16/06/2026 15:38

Hello. May I join you?

I was on another thread, but it’s all gone quiet!

I’m 43, 5ft2 and currently 8st13. I’ve gained nearly a stone over the past year and it’s all gone on my tummy! I don’t really know how/why I’ve managed to gain nearly a stone in a year (other than my age?). I’m aware it’s still a healthy weight and lots of people with my BMI would by happy, but I’ve got a small frame and it’s definitely not my ‘happy weight’ (the gain is quite obvious, especially in summer clothes that are now too tight).

I’m not completely sure what my strategy is. I’m quite active - do lots of walking and Caroline Girvan dumbbell workouts at home. I eat a good diet, but clearly something is going wrong. I’m using Nutracheck to track calories/macros.

I was 8 stone this time last year and have been that weight most of my adult life. I think that’s my target weight, but to be honest, I’d be happy to be any weight, if I could lose the tummy fat!

I’ve not read the whole thread (lots of posts!) but are there any other people here with similar stats to me? Any advice or tips?!

I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you and having a place to check-in.

BreakingBroken · 16/06/2026 17:39

welcome @Sunflowers83

BreakingBroken · 16/06/2026 19:12

my neighbor swims every morning at 8am...
so i bummed a ride and s l o w l y swam lengths.
900m in 40 minutes moderate effort as per my fitness app but it was the best i could do 375 active calories burned.
B: cereal/milk and strawberries

recent discovery is high protein milk! who knew it's not an additive simply a filtration process. the cereal is also high protein and high fiber (13g P and 5gF per serving).

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 16/06/2026 19:20

I tried to have cherries and evaporated milk after dinner, the milk curdled, tried to have some dates, they were mouldy. Fuming. So I had some toast and honey which isn't on the diet plan but to actual hell with it tonight.
I'm about ten seconds and two inches away from eating a tin of Carnation caramel with a spoon. I feel like giving it all up.

(I am slightly dramatic.)

LemonDrizzle23 · 16/06/2026 20:36

@DreamingOfGeneHunt step away from the carnation caramel 😂 It is so frustrating when you make good plans and they go awry!

The scales are looking like they might be a bit lighter again now I’m getting more movement into my day, so that’s a positive step. I’m heading off on a bit of a sunshine break next week and haven’t lost as much weight as I would have liked. But I’ve bought some nice clothes and beachwear and just going to roll with it.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 16/06/2026 20:46

I had some dark chocolate and a bit of ham instead of the tin of caramel. Not too much damage done.
Tomorrow is another day, and all that.

Pasta4Dinner · 16/06/2026 21:11

I was 78.7kg this morning (my lowest has been 78.5kg) and I have been really good the last 2 days.
I went to a hard class last night and did legs in the gym today. I’m praying for a Wednesday loss.
Im on a uni visit with teenager tomorrow so lots of steps but probably some rubbish food too!

socks1107 · 16/06/2026 21:16

@DreamingOfGeneHunt I feel your frustration! I’ve been in many plateaus the last eighteen months and they suck.
keep at it. Try and switch something up like a re feed week or change exercise. Sometimes a change did my head more good than my body but it does often work

10kstepsaday · 16/06/2026 22:37

Hope you are ok @DreamingOfGeneHunt
Welcome @Sunflowers83

@Rosetime Monday is my day off so can get to the yoga class after the school run 😃

Todays Update:
Daily Weigh-In: 10 st 5.6

Breakfast: Scrambled Eggs on Toast
Lunch: 2 triangles egg and cress sandwiches
Dinner: Chicken Stir Fry
Snack: Graze Banana Bread Bite

No exercise - was travelling/sitting in a meeting all day and it was so draining.
My back is killing me and I feel so lethargic from little movement.
Intend to make up for it tomorrow.

mermadeincornwall · 17/06/2026 06:22

11st 2lb
Goal 10stone
Back up in the 11stones
Disappointed with myself.
Happy WOW everyone

TheWayTheLightFalls · 17/06/2026 06:35

Again forgot to weigh before rushing out, argh. Yesterday was 66.8kg, so .2 up but fine within the usual fluctuations.

I feel like my appetite has increased - I am trying to do some weights each day, maybe that’s it? - and I don’t always reach for healthy options. On the plus side, I have a good breakfast routine for my non-fasting days, with a big omelette and beans, so at least a bit of my time is settled food-wise.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 17/06/2026 07:07

Still 15 stone 2, which isn't surprising really!

LemonDrizzle23 · 17/06/2026 07:18

Morning WOWers. Having just talked about increasing my steps, it is pouring down again here today!

Loss of 0.6lbs for me today. Happy scale tells me I am now 0.7lbs away from my two stone loss, so hopefully I will get that by next week, just in time to go away and get a gain 😂

SW: 15 st 8.5
CW: 13 st 9.2

Good luck to everyone WOWing!

Bufftailed · 17/06/2026 07:27

Morning all,

SW 84 kg
CW 82.2
GW 72

Lost 0.8 this week. I keep going!

GetFit2026 · 17/06/2026 07:37

@DreamingOfGeneHunt step away from the scales!
Honestly I have had lots of plateaus and increases, but the main trend is downwards which is the key. Weight fluctuations are wild though - I can put on 3lbs during the course of the day (I usually only weigh weekly but once weighed myself at the start and end of the day too, to compare).

I messed up shopping this week and so don't have the salad stuffs that I planned to eat with my homemade chilli for lunches at work. The only thing I have been able to find is a pouch if Aldi protein lentil Bolognese (which I have never tried, going in blind!) so I am really hoping it's a good combination.

Thank you for the warm welcome. Smile

This has been such a great journey for me, I have learnt a whole new, sustainable, way of eating and it's been life changing.

Fellsbells · 17/06/2026 07:38

good luck Wowers.

I’m a little up this week. Holding firm with the plan though as this is the most stable my weight has ever been. I’m sure it will start to head down slowly again soon.

Hlglu56 · 17/06/2026 07:56

Weigh in:

current weight: 10st 12 (2lb down this week)
start weight: 11st 7
goal weight: 10st

Feeling pleased. I have eaten healthy and have done my workouts this week but this month I’ve lost and gained the same few pounds so I’m not actually any lighter than the end of May. There’s 5 weeks till my holiday and two weekends away within that so I know I probably won’t lose much before I go. Fortunately it’s a UK holiday so probably won’t be bikini weather. My goal now is to be a size 10 in February next year so I can fit into my ski coat.

Pasta4Dinner · 17/06/2026 08:12

No weight loss, holding steady at 78.7kg. I did legs yesterday so shouldn’t be surprised.

FridayNighFeeling · 17/06/2026 08:24

Still up a bit - almost half a lb, but I expect fluctuations now.

Edited to add: my one year anniversary this week on the board and about 29lbs/13kg lighter than when I joined!!!

On the creatine feedback - I don't feel quite as tired as I maybe feel I should? Sleeping terrible, but unrelated I think. Tummy feels unsettled which can apparently happen, but hoping it will settle.

socks1107 · 17/06/2026 08:42

I’ve weighed this Wednesday as I’m off work.
lost another 1lb! Thrilled with that today

CinnamonSweet73 · 17/06/2026 08:58

Morning all, WOW this week is the same as before I went on holidays for a few days last week, so Im thrilled with that!

moondip · 17/06/2026 09:04

Good morning & well done everyone!

I’m down 0.1kg on last week today. I have had some lower figures over the past few days so am finding daily weighing is going well so far - it’s definitely keeping me motivated, and I’m noticing the downward trend. I’m managing not to panic when I see a spike now.

SW: 102.1kg
CW: 86.7kg
GW: 80kg

@FridayNighFeeling Thanks for the update. I’m really keen to try it. I’ve read that it helps with executive function while sleep deprived, which I could do with right now since I was chased out of Waitrose with my phone that I’d left at the till, had the same phone handed into reception at the GP, and locked said phone in my parents’ car all in one day last week 😆
