⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5523585-lose-it-motivational-may-2026?reply=152568153

Here we are with our June LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.

  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.

  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.

  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.

  5. Stay hydrated! 💧

  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.

  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩

  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.

  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!

  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

BreakingBroken · 17/06/2026 15:17

yesterday turned into a nightmare with dh having a massive health scare and me going the day on my high protein breakfast....
when i got home at 11pm i had zero common sense and was unsure if i should or shouldn't eat...i didn't then didn't sleep and even wondered if i'd pass out in the shower, stupid i know. even stupider is i called the hospital at 3am and was fuming at the lack of care he's receiving.

SW 186.6
CW 163.7
GW 140
last week 167.5 the hiking and swimming has paid off.

moondip · 17/06/2026 16:32

Sorry to hear that @BreakingBroken - hope he makes a speedy recovery and that he’s given good care from here on out. It’s hard to know what to do food wise when you’re dealing with difficult life stuff; usually I just let myself have what I fancy in those times x

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 17/06/2026 18:27

@BreakingBroken oh no, I hope he's doing ok and you're alright!

FridayNighFeeling · 17/06/2026 20:50

Sending big hugs and good wishes to you and your DH @BreakingBroken

ChunkyMonkey36 · 17/06/2026 20:53

@BreakingBroken

Really sorry to hear that, hope he’s doing better soon 💐

10kstepsaday · 17/06/2026 21:16

Hope all ok @BreakingBroken

Daily Weigh-In: 10 st 4.6
Which is a 1.6lb loss since last week, 4lb total loss since joining this thread 01/06. Very happy with that!
I expect it to be short lived as today ended up being not so great diet wise.

Breakfast: Scrambled Eggs on Toast
Lunch: Salmon & Veg
Dinner: Carbonara...
Snacks: Too many!!!

20 mins cardio on YT this morning, as well as a 5k walk at lunchtime.

BreakingBroken · 17/06/2026 21:29

Thank you everyone.
He msg’d me at 7am saying he’s feeling better but not 100%. the day Dr. hasn’t seen him and we’re none the wiser if he’s had a stroke, or a middle ear issue (kind of ridiculous extremes). But he’s looking good, chatty, and not too dizzy.
B: cottage cheese, pineapple and strawberries with chia seeds 154 calories
L: spinach/quinoa salad
water going well; I’ve been doing the hospital stairs and even took a walk around the block.

TheRealHousewife · 18/06/2026 11:02

Hello Everyone

Nothing of note to report. Weight still bobbing up and down like a boat on choppy seas 😬

@BreakingBroken Sorry to read about your DH! Here’s hoping he has a quick recovery ❤️‍🩹

@moondip For the past couple of weeks Ive started adding creatine to one hot drink per day. No noticed any changes as yet. AI Grok says it usually has positive effects, especially for women of a certain age (like me) I suspect I’m beyond help 😅

@Rosetime apart from the exercise our eating plans are very similar 👍

@DreamingOfGeneHunt Lemon and rhubarb marmalade sounds utterly delicious 😋 Your comment about eating Carnation Caramel with a spoon made me laugh 🤭 I think we’ve all been temped by that delicious tin of gooey deliciousness.

Nice to ‘see’ you @biscuitcat … life sounds particularly tough for you at the moment and be exhausted on top sounds super difficult. Sending a hug x

@socks1107 Great news re:- BMI 🥳

Welcome to the thread @Sunflowers83 & @GetFit2026 Sounds like you’ve got it sussed Get Fit👍.

@Sunflowers83 Only advice I’d add to what you’ve already been given is that hormone levels fluctuate and drop as we get older and thus causes a cascade effect on our bodies etc. I myself developed thyroid disease which caused weight gain. Now medicated but not overly so. I also sustained a spinal cord injury which affects most things to some degree. Everyone is different. Perhaps have a chat with your GP. Hopefully you’ll find a solution and what works for you to reverse your gain.

@mermadeincornwall Try not to be so hard on yourself. Every day is a fresh start ❤️

@10kstepsaday @moondip @ChunkyMonkey36 @namechangefor2mins @Hlglu56 @socks1107 @Bufftailed @LemonDrizzle23 Well done on your losses 👍

Menu
Meal 1 - Haddock and scrambled eggs with Chopped chives.
Meal 2 - Undecided between halloumi salad or chicken stir fry.

Drinks - Tea, black coffee, water.

Weight has bibbed down so today it's -29 1/2lbs Shock Life feeling very stressful at the moment, but trying to do my best. Unexpectedly seeing my best friend this weekend, so that's definitely a bonus.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 18/06/2026 13:54

Back to 15 today!

LemonDrizzle23 · 18/06/2026 20:38

I hope you get some good news soon @BreakingBroken

This morning I was down to 13 stone 8.8, which means literally 0.3lbs away from 2 stone! Given we’re heading into another heatwave, I assume that goal will vanish for a bit until I de-puff again 😂

BreakingBroken · 18/06/2026 20:52

@LemonDrizzle23 dh is home, and doing well enough to resume daily life BUT his blood sugar levels (never known to be an issue) are very very high and right now displaying a mind of their own.
I expect he will become very skeptical of all food presented to him and meal times/meal planning challenges will be ramped up.
I'm a bit drained today but have a pedicure booked and do plan to fit is some mild exercise and focus on relaxation (with good food choices). but keeping life low key as i (we) adjust to the cgi (continuous glucose monitor) dictating his every move.

10kstepsaday · 18/06/2026 22:02

Daily Weigh-In: 10 st 5.6 - As expected fluctuated up 1lb thanks to the pasta dinner + snacks!

Breakfast: Scrambled Eggs on Toast
Lunch: Banana Huel (short on time, and food shop arrives tomorrow)
Dinner: Chicken Wings
Snacks: Banana, Graze Bite

No workout but 2 x short outdoor walks

Rosetime · 19/06/2026 06:32

@BreakingBroken , good to hear your DH is back home. Who does his meal planning - him, medical team? Did he get seen by a dietician while on admission? How was your pedicure? Did you have the massage chair on while having it? Hope you got some relaxation, it's been a tough few days.

@DreamingOfGeneHunt , how much protein are you having? Increase your protein intake, drink water and optimise sleep. Protein really helps with hunger.

@TheRealHousewife , you always have great meal plans. Sorry to read about your spinal cord (& thyroid), you sound great now..unstoppable.

Diet: going well. Keeping to calories 1200kcal/day with one day of deliberate eating beyond calorie limits to aid recovery and energy production. Protein intake, i should take about 90g minimum a day. I am only managing 65 - 80g.

Water: I was doing well getting in at least 2 litres a day but past few days have been 500 mls - 1L a day. Not good.

Exercise: doing minimum 10k steps a day..Currently getting in ~14,500 a day. Strength training every other day 25 - 45 minutes per session.

Sleep: Not great. At the moment, a good night for me is 2 hours of continuous sleep. Having said that, I have had poor sleep for years. But this year, i have been working on it. It's getting better.

Weighing on Sunday. I haven't weighed for two weeks.

Wishing everyone a lovely day.

Fellsbells · 19/06/2026 07:09

Glad your dh is home @BreakingBroken hope his sugars settle asap.

@Rosetime you’re routine is amazing. I can not keep to 1200!

hope everyone has a lovely sunny friday and you keep cool.

I’ve finally had a whoosh after a bounce up. I’ve been reminding myself that it would happen and it has. I’ve lost nearly two lbs since Tuesday. I’m happy I’ve been tracking correctly and can lose at this calorie amount.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 19/06/2026 09:12

@Rosetime 70-100g, I'm trying to drink 2.5/3 litres of water a day.

Scale trembled over 14 stone 13 this morning!

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 19/06/2026 10:29

Can't seem to edit my list but I'm an inch down on my hips and down from 37% to 33% body fat today! Very pleased with myself!

moondip · 19/06/2026 11:19

Well done @DreamingOfGeneHunt 💪 🥳

Rosetime · 19/06/2026 22:17

@DreamingOfGeneHunt , looks like you are on it with the protein. Congratulations !!!!!!! on your loss of inches from your hips and a downtrend in your body fat percentage.

Thanks @Fellsbells , every now and then, I do go beyond 1200kcals without guilt. Big Congratulations!!! on your Whoosh!!!

A good day today - 1433 kcals eaten /97g of protein, 12570 steps so far today, 1.7 litres of water drank. No strength training/workout today. Workout tomorrow.

10kstepsaday · 19/06/2026 22:35

Hope everyone is doing OK in this heat!!

Daily Weigh-In: 10 st 5.6 - same as yesterday

Breakfast: Scrambled Eggs on Toast
Lunch: Ended up snacking through lunch: boiled eggs, a whole punnet of raspberries, a trek protein bar...
Dinner: Beans and Rice

We had a family games night tonight and I did give in to the chocolate and snacks.
I am at the week before my period so I do need to reign it in before it spirals.

Too hot for exercise today!

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 20/06/2026 07:44

14 stone 13 this morning!

Sunflowers83 · 20/06/2026 08:37

Thank you for the welcome @BreakingBroken, @10kstepsaday and @TheRealHousewife

Sorry to hear about your DH @BreakingBroken

@TheRealHousewife - I had blood tests recently and my thyroid was fine. (Very low ferritin - but hopefully improving now.)

I’m a daily weigher - I’m 9st0.5 today. This is the heaviest I’ve ever been! I don’t understand why I’m gaining weight, but I’m determined to put a stop to this gain. I’m sure I could lose it by really restricting calories but I want to do it in a sensible way. I do dumbbell workouts at home and average 20,000 steps a day, so want to fuel my body enough.

FridayNighFeeling · 20/06/2026 20:49

Hi all, hopefully you're all coping with the heat. Cooler today before the next onslaught. Doing ok with exercise and water. Food probably borderline maintenance cals. Will weigh tomorrow and then not bother till it cools again!
