⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5523585-lose-it-motivational-may-2026?reply=152568153

Here we are with our June LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.

  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.

  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.

  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.

  5. Stay hydrated! 💧

  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.

  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩

  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.

  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!

  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

Goal for June: more weights, more muscle.

LemonDrizzle23 · 31/05/2026 07:16

Signing in for the June thread, thank you @TheRealHousewife! Half term has been a bit of a healthy food and exercise void as usual, so onwards and upwards into June.

Checking in @TheRealHousewife, thank you. I’m very determined for June, I am tired of stagnating at this weight and need a final push before summer. We go away in 10 weeks which is a decent amount of time to get results. I have decided to do the Zoe plan, downloaded the app a few weeks ago- it’s a bit gimmicky but I did a trial week and really enjoyed it and it’s a different focus than just “restriction” which doesn’t work for me.

today I’m taking the dog out and I also need to do a run as I have just returned from holiday - 1st one is always horrible so I want it done!
Food will be chia, kefir and fruit
lunch- salad and tuna
dinner-chicken, veg, new potatoes
I’ve got lots of fruit and nuts for snacks. Plus water (feel very dehydrated)

DriveVerySlowlyPastNumber23IWantThemToSeeMyHat · 31/05/2026 07:57

211lbs down from 222lbs so far.

Calorie counting but still enjoying a treat.
I skip breakfast now as I found I was eating for the sake of eating. I now have more calories to play with on an evening when I struggle 😊

FridayNighFeeling · 31/05/2026 08:45

Yes @TheWayTheLightFalls that's my plan too - got weights in the shed, need to dust them off and use them at home. How is your health now if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks for the new thread @TheRealHousewife

I'm ending May/starting June on -27lbs. I would love that 1 to take me to 2 stone in a year.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 31/05/2026 08:53

Morning all. I’d like to join.

I've been yo-yoing for forever and recently had a close bereavement so been eating my feelings and not exercising properly.

Feel like I’ve turned a corner now, so jumping in with you all and aiming to lose a couple of pounds a week. 😃

Pasta4Dinner · 31/05/2026 08:53

I didn’t even realise the date!

I own my Happy Scale target today, number 5 of 10.
2kg to the next one, it’s guessing 10 weeks which is exactly when I go away for a week. I don’t think I’ll make it but the closer I can get the better.

socks1107 · 31/05/2026 08:56

@TheRealHousewife thanks for the new thread. Weight loss continues slowly, down to the last 4lbs hoping that by July I’ll have done it!

Of course it is, it’s great of you to ask. No more cancer treatment needed - I had the surgery in Jan (a double mastectomy), they tested some lymph nodes and did Oncotype/recurrence testing but that was negative. So I am clear.

I also, perhaps controversially, love my new body. I feel strong, I’m in good shape, I’m genuinely happy when I look in the mirror. Which is not what I was expecting!

CinnamonSweet73 · 31/05/2026 09:35

Thanks @TheRealHousewife checking in and hello everyone!

I've been doing a 3 month coaching programme, down 5kg since I started at the beginning of April. Also stronger in the gym which I enjoy. I'm almost at my goal which takes me to BMI 25.

I have another month of coaching to go so if I can lose another kg or 2 that would be great. I'm away on holiday for a few days though and plan to enjoy that though not go totally bananas!!

FridayNighFeeling · 31/05/2026 10:52

That is amazing @TheWayTheLightFalls I didn't want to ask because I guess this space wasn't about that but obviously also a big part of your life. I'm pleased you don't need any more treatment/chemo etc

Great to see the "old" faces and welcome to the new ones/recent joiners. @Wishihadanalgorithm it's so difficult when food is your comfort and in my case also reward/celebration/form of regulation/showing love etc... but I've been trying to just look after myself which stuffing myself full of junk is not

Imthefunfriend · 31/05/2026 10:58

Joining for June. Weighed myself this morning and I’m the heaviest I’ve been in 4 years :(

Looking to lose a pound a week in June to make my clothes more comfortable and hoping that a small goal will be achievable.

Looking to do this by upping my step count and reducing my calories. As I said, starting small. I’m actually starting this today because, well, I’m ready!

moondip · 31/05/2026 11:02

Signing in for June - thank you @TheRealHousewife🙏

We can do this everyone!!!

TheRealHousewife · 31/05/2026 11:03

Welcome to the thread @Imthefunfriend 1lb a week is a really sensible goal and I’m sure if you’re making healthy changes and swaps you’ll soon be feeling svelte in your clothes again x

It took me a few moments to work out why you had started a June thread @TheRealHousewife where did May go? Signing in and thanks for this new thread.

Feeling focused and optimistic for June. Realistically aiming for 2lbs this month though anything else would be a bonus. I'm such a slow looser my body is clinging onto the extra lbs and is refusing to give them up. Will work on increasing exercise slowly and gently as I currently do very little.

Edited to add
Current weight 12 stone 1lbs
Goal weight 10 stone

moondip · 31/05/2026 11:08

@thewaythelightfallsIt’s so wonderful to hear you feel that way 😍

TheRealHousewife · 31/05/2026 11:08

Lost 19lb up to the end of March but had to postpone my injections. Ready to start again. Did gain 4lb but also went on an all inclusive holiday so I didn't think that was too bad.

Need to lose another 7-10lb if I can

BreakingBroken · 31/05/2026 16:22

JustOneMoreMargarita · 31/05/2026 16:35

Signing in for June!

Ended up losing 2kg in May which was ok… still secretly hoping there is a little bit more to come off now that it’s cooler. Biggest positive for me was that I was much more consistent with exercise. Made good progress with my running and finished off the month with an 8K run this morning. Also seeing some strength improvements from doing weight training much more consistently.

Busy month ahead though… DD finishes her GCSEs, DS will be home from uni mid-month and then he’s off on a lads holiday, I’ve got a couple of concerts booked in and then we’re off to Portugal at the end of the month. So something to aim for, but also a few distractions.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 31/05/2026 16:42

Hello! Can I join? I was recommended this thread by a poster on the Wegovy May Starters.

I went from 18 stone 4 to 15 stone 9 without jabs, then last month lost 7lbs on .25 Wegovy- can't justify the cost so I'm back to calorie counting.

I'm 5"9 and 15 stone 2. I want to be 11 stone ideally! Current aim is 14 stone.
I've set myself 1800 calories a day to lose 1lb a week.
