⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5523585-lose-it-motivational-may-2026?reply=152568153

Here we are with our June LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.

  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.

  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.

  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.

  5. Stay hydrated! 💧

  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.

  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩

  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.

  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!

  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 03/06/2026 17:03

Signing in for June after being MIA. I’m going to WOF this week as just back from holiday, so want to let the water retention settle down. Hoping to re-focus this month, DH has put on a few pounds recently, and fitting into some clothes is starting to get an issue for him, so I hope that we will motivate each other.

Today’s menu:
B - scrambled egg & small slice of sourdough bread
L - leek and potato soup. Couple of falafels and an apple.
D - Moroccan kale chicken disk.

No exercise planned, just some stretching, My legs and back are a bit stiff and achy after a lot of walking every day over the last week.

Thanks, as always, for keeping the thread going @TheRealHousewife

10kstepsaday · 03/06/2026 19:05

Reasonable calories today, plus 25mins on the bike and 10,000 steps.
Currently doing some stretches in front of the tv so I don’t spend the evening slumped on the couch!

The kitchen is closed.

B - porridge
L - smoked salmon salad
D - beef stir fry
Snacks, a kefir yogurt

Pleased to say I’m right on track.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 03/06/2026 22:12

I weighed in today, from Monday I’m just over 2lb down. It’s a good start but I have a lot to lose!

Had family over for a roast dinner - it was great and DP made a cake so I had a small slice. I have done a walk and Pilates today so think my calories are under.

Morning all! I have been awol but thought I’d catch up with you all.

Really pleased to read your health update @TheWayTheLightFallsyou’ve been in my thoughts.

Checking in with a WOT of 52.6kg this morning. My diet is absolutely appalling and I need to get to grips with it. It’s week two of half term and we’ve had a couple of days away which didn’t help. It’s been pretty much snacks only apart from breakfast. Lots of pizza. I am going to make some soup today, and a loaf of bread as for once I don’t need to go anywhere.

I’ve been doing lots of gardening. Two days at my mum’s where I worked 8 hours solid the first day, then 6 hours the second day. Yesterday I walked to someone’s house and did 3 hours of pulling ivy and nettles and some weeding to clear an area in their garden. My arms and back had a good workout because I woke up wincing this morning! Feels good! There’s a lot more to do in their garden and it’s good exercise especially as it’s over a 3.5 mile walk to get there.

Goals for this month:
Eat less snacks and more veg and fibre

JustOneMoreMargarita · 04/06/2026 09:18

Good exercise day here yesterday… 5K run, weights (heavier than usual), 19K steps. Food wasn’t too bad, could have been better but I’m hoping being slightly over on cals will be cancelled out by the exercise.

Today’s food

  • Greek yogurt, banana, raspberries, sprinkling of granola
  • Chicken and feta salad
  • ’Pizza Chicken’ with tomato and basil spaghetti (DD’s choice)

Rest day in terms of exercise but will hopefully get 15K steps in

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 04/06/2026 09:39

Thanks for the welcome back @TheRealHousewife nice to see a few familiar names when I had a quick catch up on the thread. Fabulous health update @TheWayTheLightFalls.

Day 1 of getting on track went well. The biggest success being that I’m on holiday for the rest of the week (have returned from a short break away, but still off work for the rest of the week), and not only did I eat well yesterday, I resisted the ‘well, we’re on holiday, let’s have a glass of wine and some snacks’ temptation. It’s definitely helping that DH is on a bit of a mission, we’re terrible for enabling bad habits! Lots of chores to get through today, but will make time for some exercise, not sure what though as despite last nights stretching session my lower back is still a bit achy after 4 days of full on city breaking and 25k plus steps each day.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 04/06/2026 09:52

Today's food:
Porridge, yoghurt, raisins
Lunch- tomato soup (tin, CBA) with homemade oatmeal bread and cherry tomatoes, an apple
Dinner- possibly veg curry and baked potato. Blackberry jelly if it's still looking edible (I made it at the weekend).

Pasta4Dinner · 04/06/2026 11:13

Had a bad week (DD has been unwell) and finally got back to the gym so thought I would ease myself in with a class and I’ve hurt my hip.
I’m sat with a hot water bottle and deep heat on it. So no gym again.
managed another 0.1kg off though so I’m 78.9kg so I’m pleased with that.

I wasn’t as good as I should of been as we ate out a few times. Its so hard to stay on plan when you eat out often. Today’s weigh in was 12st 2 &1/2lbs so I maintained my weight from last week.

biscuitcat · 04/06/2026 16:52

Thanks for all the congrats ladies 💜

I did weigh yesterday but forgot to check in! 200g down this week, and back to my pre-holiday weight. I find it so much easier not to snack when I’m out of the house!

Today’s menu:

B - Greek yoghurt and honey (no fruit as the kids had snaffled all of it!)
L - lentil and goats cheese salad
D - tbc, but involving chicken breasts as I have two which need using up!

HappyLittleTreeFriend · 04/06/2026 18:18

I also weighed yesterday and didn’t check in - scales are saying 9st 5.4 so up from my last weigh in which was in April at 9st 3.5 but not too devastating.

Felt pretty annoyed with myself last night, I was having drinks at home with my partner to celebrate finishing a difficult work project and I drank a whole bottle of wine, we also had a bit of a tiff over nothing, made up but the whole evening felt like a waste of calories tbh! Ah well, no drinks for me at the weekend now, I’ll still be seeing my friends regardless 😊👍🏻🙌🏻

LemonDrizzle23 · 04/06/2026 20:07

Meals have been good today, but I fell into a packet of biscuits, which reminds me why I don’t buy biscuits!
15,000 steps, stretching and a scale and polish at the dentist, so I am gleaming 🦷

10kstepsaday · 04/06/2026 20:26

Todays Update:

Daily Weigh-In: 10 st 7.4 - the same as yesterday, but total loss so far is 1.2lbs.

Breakfast: Oats w/ Raspberries, Almond Milk & Flaxseed
Lunch: Chickpea Salad
Dinner: Homemade Carbonara
Snack: Apple, 1 nakd bar

I did 45 minutes of strength (legs and glutes - my legs are jelly now!) and my usual 10 minutes of mobility.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 04/06/2026 20:35

Good day today.

B - Greek yoghurt, granola, berries, rye toast, light cream cheese
L - Cajun bean soup
D - pork kimchi & rice
snacks - mint club biscuit, apple
Exercise - 20 mins leg bodyweight exercises

Comfortably below calories for the day.

Tomorrow and Saturday are ‘easier days’ for me on nutracheck as we’re having people over. Lots of willpower required not to overdo it!

I’m going to weigh in tomorrow so I have a base weight to then determine my next goal. I have a holiday at end of August so would like to feel comfortable in shorts for it!

Imthefunfriend · 04/06/2026 21:20

The kitchen is closed.

B - porridge
L - smoked salmon salad
D - chicken chow mein

No snacks! There’s a first for everything Smile

If only everyday could be like this. I did weigh slightly up this morning but not feeling dejected as it was only 0.02lb!
