⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5523585-lose-it-motivational-may-2026?reply=152568153

Here we are with our June LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.

  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.

  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.

  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.

  5. Stay hydrated! 💧

  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.

  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩

  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.

  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!

  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

Positive mental attitude yes StarStarStar

A much better day food wise, despite every little thing seemingly out to annoy me - you know when you get back to your car and you need to get in the boot and someone has parked on it, the fact that you spent ages on something just for it to have been a waste of time, a letter with more admin when you feel like you're already drowning? That sort of day.

Going to do some exercise at home once my dinner settled. Probably mobility with Julia Reppel on YT. Anyone else do anything like this?

@FridayNighFeeling i’m a huge fan of the Walk at Home series; online app with some older episodes with Leslie Sansone on YT. Leslie retired, a younger group took over and they include functional movement/mild strength training. Lots of choice from 15 minutes to 1+ hours.

BreakingBroken · Today 19:26

Progress; HR at the top down from 135 to 125 less out of breath and less struggle at getting my breathing to settle afterwards. Visor better than sunglasses (the glasses slipped from sweat continuously), I remembered sunscreen but again dressed too warm.

The kitchen is closed.

Weighed in this morning 0.2 down. I’ll take any down result!

B - porridge
L - smoked salmon salad
D - 2 slices of pizza & 2 slices of garlic bread

I did eat a little home baked fairy cake for desert, so that’s it for today. No evening snacks.

Stuck to my calories today, and did 20mins on the bike at the gym while DS had swimming, as well as a yoga session earlier.

I also just ate the white chocolate coating off a magnum and gave the remaining ice cream to DH as I only really wanted the chocolate. 😂 Presumably saved myself a few hundred calories in the process!

I was 4 lbs at least down when I weighed this morning after just a couple of days, shows how much water you can retain after eating salt and drinking wine! I have had some nice meals today- breakfast was a shake made with kefir and frozen fruit and a scoop of protein, lunch was a big lentil pasta salad again, and for dinner I made a toasted sandwich with humous, salad leaves, mini cuc and some berries on the side. I’m thirsty tonight so I’ve drunk a couple of pints of water already

Week 2, Lost a further 1lb. It's been an erratic week eating-wise with another busy weekend, so I'm happy with that.

I need this, I've just had a lovely beach holiday away. come home and I've slightly relaxed food wise, to be fair I need to defrost the freezer and I'm having whatevers in there for dinner, but I MUST get back to being in the zone (she says drinking a glass of red wine)

Wow well done on your successful year @biscuitcat

@FridayNighFeeling I think Julia Reppel is awesome! I love her YT channels and try to do them as often as I can. I am hoping it pays off!

Todays Update:
Daily Weigh-In: 10 st 8.4 (down 0.2 lbs, it's a start!)
Breakfast: Oats w/ Raspberries, Almond Milk & Flaxseed
Lunch: Chickpea Salad
Dinner: Chicken & Salad

I also did 30 minutes strength workout (upper body), 10 minute mobility and went for a 20 minute outdoor walk.

Happy with Day 2 😊
