⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5523585-lose-it-motivational-may-2026?reply=152568153

Here we are with our June LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.

  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.

  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.

  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.

  5. Stay hydrated! 💧

  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.

  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩

  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.

  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!

  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

Positive mental attitude yes StarStarStar

A much better day food wise, despite every little thing seemingly out to annoy me - you know when you get back to your car and you need to get in the boot and someone has parked on it, the fact that you spent ages on something just for it to have been a waste of time, a letter with more admin when you feel like you're already drowning? That sort of day.

Going to do some exercise at home once my dinner settled. Probably mobility with Julia Reppel on YT. Anyone else do anything like this?

BreakingBroken · 02/06/2026 18:54

@FridayNighFeeling i’m a huge fan of the Walk at Home series; online app with some older episodes with Leslie Sansone on YT. Leslie retired, a younger group took over and they include functional movement/mild strength training. Lots of choice from 15 minutes to 1+ hours.

BreakingBroken · 02/06/2026 19:26

Progress; HR at the top down from 135 to 125 less out of breath and less struggle at getting my breathing to settle afterwards. Visor better than sunglasses (the glasses slipped from sweat continuously), I remembered sunscreen but again dressed too warm.

FridayNighFeeling · 02/06/2026 19:39

I've done many Leslie vids @BreakingBroken Smile

Imthefunfriend · 02/06/2026 20:44

The kitchen is closed.

Weighed in this morning 0.2 down. I’ll take any down result!

B - porridge
L - smoked salmon salad
D - 2 slices of pizza & 2 slices of garlic bread

I did eat a little home baked fairy cake for desert, so that’s it for today. No evening snacks.

LemonDrizzle23 · 02/06/2026 21:08

Stuck to my calories today, and did 20mins on the bike at the gym while DS had swimming, as well as a yoga session earlier.

I also just ate the white chocolate coating off a magnum and gave the remaining ice cream to DH as I only really wanted the chocolate. 😂 Presumably saved myself a few hundred calories in the process!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/06/2026 21:25

I was 4 lbs at least down when I weighed this morning after just a couple of days, shows how much water you can retain after eating salt and drinking wine! I have had some nice meals today- breakfast was a shake made with kefir and frozen fruit and a scoop of protein, lunch was a big lentil pasta salad again, and for dinner I made a toasted sandwich with humous, salad leaves, mini cuc and some berries on the side. I’m thirsty tonight so I’ve drunk a couple of pints of water already

SW 14.4
CW 14.2
GW 10.00
Week 2, Lost a further 1lb. It's been an erratic week eating-wise with another busy weekend, so I'm happy with that.

hourglass2 · 02/06/2026 22:03

I need this, I've just had a lovely beach holiday away. come home and I've slightly relaxed food wise, to be fair I need to defrost the freezer and I'm having whatevers in there for dinner, but I MUST get back to being in the zone (she says drinking a glass of red wine)

10kstepsaday · 02/06/2026 22:17

Wow well done on your successful year @biscuitcat

@FridayNighFeeling I think Julia Reppel is awesome! I love her YT channels and try to do them as often as I can. I am hoping it pays off!

Todays Update:
Daily Weigh-In: 10 st 8.4 (down 0.2 lbs, it's a start!)
Breakfast: Oats w/ Raspberries, Almond Milk & Flaxseed
Lunch: Chickpea Salad
Dinner: Chicken & Salad

I also did 30 minutes strength workout (upper body), 10 minute mobility and went for a 20 minute outdoor walk.

Happy with Day 2 😊

moondip · 03/06/2026 06:58

What a great inspiration @biscuitcat - congratulations 😚

Uh, well I’m not sure I’m loving daily weighing so far 😆 But I’ll stick at it!

SW: 102.1kg
CW: 88.75kg
GW: 80kg

Have a good day all & good luck to WoWersss x

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 03/06/2026 07:05

No change in weight this morning! But hasn't gone up so I suppose that's a bonus.

LemonDrizzle23 · 03/06/2026 07:06

Morning WOWers!

Its a stay the same for me this week over all, which Im quite pleased about, as the school
holidays do usually tend to be my downfall.

SW: 15 st 8.5
CW: 13 st 9.8
Current aim 13 st 8.5

Good luck to everyone weighing in!

Fellsbells · 03/06/2026 07:10

Good morning wowers. Hope the scales are kind this morning.

happy anniversary @biscuitcat and well done on your progress.

Really pleased with a 1 lb loss this week. It’s been a slow steady decrease each day so I’m confident it’s actually fat not just water.

Hlglu56 · 03/06/2026 07:18

I’m joining again. I did so well the beginning of May then lost it during half term/ the heat wave where I caved and ate all sorts.

Current weight: 11st 1
Goal weight: 10 stone

Back to calorie counting, hitting my protein and fibre goals and strength training.

Imthefunfriend · 03/06/2026 08:02

Checking in after porridge and coffee. Weighed in again this morning, scales still slowly nudging downwards. Weighing in every day has been game changing for me. Just seeing that small progress has really kept me motivated.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 03/06/2026 08:04

Morning! Forgot to weigh today. Yesterday was 66.4, so maintaining OK with minor variations. Resisted ice cream with the kids (though to be fair they chose a really disgusting flavour so it was no great loss!).

Good luck wowers!

PipkinOfPepper · 03/06/2026 08:13

WOW today:

SW: 111.05kg in January
CW: 95kg exactly
GW: 78-80kg for now

Down from 95.3kg on Monday so I'll happily take it! Just had a look at the conversion and this also means I'm finally under 15 stone which is nice.

Next small goal is to get to 94.4kg which will mean I've lost 15% of my start weight, hopefully I'll be there in a couple of weeks. And then the goal after that will be 92kg which will mean I've lost three stone.

Does anyone else set themselves little attainable goals to reach for? I've found it so much more motivating than just aiming for the big loss goal as I can actually tick things off regularly.

FridayNighFeeling · 03/06/2026 08:43

Well knock me sideways.... I've only gone and got my 2 stone in the middle of my period Shock Now I just need to own in properly for a little while... these last few lbs have been hard and I'd like another stone off ideally, but happy to do that over the next year maybe and focus on building muscle really.

Well done to everyone showing up regardless of what the scales say and thank you for the support Flowers

JustOneMoreMargarita · 03/06/2026 08:52

start weight (6th April) - 102.6kg
current weight - 99.1kg
goal weight - 80kg

Up a little bit from my last weigh in but it’s started heading down again from my heatwave / half term gain so hopefully will be back to losing next week.

5K run already in the bag this morning. Weights later.

Well done on the two stone @FridayNighFeeling

@PipkinOfPepper - yes, I do that. I’m using happy scale app now which is really motivating me in terms of the little goals. Obviously a spreadsheet would be free but I need the instant gratification of an app 🤣

Pasta4Dinner · 03/06/2026 10:27

Not sure what is going on, I’ve had a terrible week and eaten some bad food. My period has also started and yet I’ve kept my weight down and lost some.

SW: 89kg
CW: 79kg
GW: under 70kg

Looking forward to the 78s

ChunkyMonkey36 · 03/06/2026 11:53

First stone - done! 🎉

I’ve lost just 0.5lb this week, but to be honest - I’ve been super stressed with an upcoming house move & the little one being in hospital, so food has been fairly rubbish. Takeaway Friday, multiple Yorkshire puddings Sunday.

Not sure I deserve the loss, but I’ll take it!

SW: 16st 10
CW: 15st 10

Bufftailed · 03/06/2026 12:26

So well done - v inspiring weight losses

Am starting out today:

SW 84 kg
CW 83.4 kg
GW 72 kg

Calorie counting - aiming 1400 cals 5 x week and as much exercise as I can manage. End July goal for 6 kg loss

FridayNighFeeling · 03/06/2026 12:39

Hope little one ok now @ChunkyMonkey36

ChunkyMonkey36 · 03/06/2026 13:32

Thanks @FridayNighFeeling, he had an accident over the weekend and badly injured his face.

Still healing but doing better.

Thanks for checking in, really kind! X
