⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5523585-lose-it-motivational-may-2026?reply=152568153

Here we are with our June LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.

  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.

  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.

  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.

  5. Stay hydrated! 💧

  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.

  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩

  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.

  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!

  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

Signing in but have still been crap at calorie counting over half term, I think my main downfall lately has been drinking more as I’ve been under a lot of stress the last month with various things mainly work related and I’ve had more wine than usual during the week and at the weekends to unwind! So definitely feeling a bit bloated - the last couple of days I’ve switched my mind over to healthier eating again and already feeling better for calorie counting again. So I’m on this thread again with good intentions, the work cloud is clearing and fingers crossed I can stick to cal counting for the rest of the month 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Hello! would like to join too, have reached peak fed up with post meno apron belly, and need support and accountability
Can't afford to join WW or SW but following a semi-WW route, and have done some more specific Post Meno diet related stuff - have definitely not been eating enough protein for my age I realise. Had tried to cut back on portions and meals but just got hangry and felt weak all the time, but since protein focus/ lower carbs intake/ sensible choice snacks I feel like appetite is balancing better. Trying to do more exercise too!
Started mid May about 12.5 stone, now about 12 st 2, aiming for 11.5 stone for 1st Aug or whenever really!

FridayNighFeeling · Yesterday 18:25

Urgh, I hate being a woman! So in a week I went up 6lbs (holiday) it all came off in 2 days so obviously wasn't real weight... but I'm up 2lbs today - thanks hormones and feel like the hungry caterpillar Angry

Tomorrow is a new day...

thenewaveragebear1983 · Yesterday 19:09

@DryTerryandJUNE I like a dry month every now and then, I never really notice much weight loss but I always feel so much better and have much better sleep, which does have a knock on effect I think.

I am doing Zoe plan, and I had 24 plants yesterday! I am eating more calories than I would previously allow (yesterday I had 2000, today 1700) but I feel really full and satiated and just generally better in myself. Even after just a couple of good days I feel like I’ve got much more energy. I did have to cancel the gym as I needed to log back on when I finished work, but I am going to compensate by taking the dog for an extra walk.

today I had a big lentil pasta salad, with tuna and kidney beans, and various veg. I also made a fruit box with strawberries and blueberries, and took a banana , which I didn’t eat until the drive home. Then for tea I had bolognese with a side salad and Parmesan

I get weighed every Saturday morning so I shall post my previous Saturdays weight on a Wednesday, does that sound acceptable to this group?

DreamingOfGeneHunt · Yesterday 20:20

Today I've had:
Porridge, raisins, yoghurt
Lunch was half a small chips and half a small fish from the chip shop
And then just now two chapattis with mashed pinto beans, lettuce, sweet chilli sauce. Which is surprisingly good!

Yup! And welcome.

OMAD was ok today here - omelette and toast around 9am, an apple, then just coffee etc. I don't always pull it off but somehow today it worked. It's probably date stress/anticipation Grin .

Imthefunfriend · Yesterday 21:15

The scales moved down this morning, just under a pound.

Today I have eaten really mindfully. I’m not calorie counting, just trying to be healthier and fitter.
B - porridge
L - greek style pasta
D - cauliflower cheese and a side of veg
plus a granola ‘good gut health’ yoghurt

Will weigh in again tomorrow if I remember!

10kstepsaday · Yesterday 21:51

Thanks for the welcome @TheRealHousewife

Today I have gone for 2 outdoor walks today, both 20 minutes each time and in the evening I also completed a 10 minute mobility stretch routine.

@thenewaveragebear1983 the ZOE plan sounds interesting, and the food sounds delicious! I am going to look into this.

thenewaveragebear1983 · Yesterday 22:00

@10kstepsaday I can give you a 20% off code if you are interested. It’s a bit gimmicky but actually it’s making me eat really well, I am really enjoying it.

Do they send you the sensor thingy for the back of your arm? Or is it just recipes?

thenewaveragebear1983 · Yesterday 22:55

@DryTerryandJUNE no it’s just an app where you photo your food and it scores you , tracks your fibre grams and protein etc. you ‘earn’ videos and move up levels etc. It is a bit gimmicky but to be fair it does seem to be helping me and to be honest I am so sick of calorie counting I just fancied doing something different. I think you can have blood tests and a glucose sensor if you want to though. It’s primarily about improving your gut health and reducing inflammation.

Morning ladies! I’m having an early WOW (WOT?) today as it’s my 1 year anniversary anniversary. This group has honestly made all the difference, so thank you all 🥰

SW - 15st10.5
CW - 12st2

So that’s 3.5 stone gone over the last year! I was a size 16, pushing an 18, and am now a comfortable 12, and I feel and look ten times better. As I’ve mentioned, the last three months have been frustrating in terms of basically no weight loss, but I feel as though I’ve changed how I eat either way, as I’ve not gone ‘fuck it’ and just given up which is generally what I’ve done before!

I’d still like to lose another 1-1.5stone, so will absolutely be staying with you!

@TheWayTheLightFalls I hope your date went well!

That is a brilliant year, wow! Well well done. You have come so far.

(My date is on Sunday, feels like ages still. Appetite has vanished, predictably!)

HappyLittleTreeFriend · Today 07:26

Well done @biscuitcatthat’s amazing progress 🙌🏻🙌🏻😊😊💜💜

Im pleased with how yesterday went foodwise, today’s plan (I tend not to eat breakfast I just have tea/coffees):

L: Salmon, samphire and broccoli
D: Pizza (big calorie hit I could do without but it’s what we’ve got in for tonight!)

Because of the pizza and the fact I definitely want dip with it I’m going to try my best for zero choc or other little snack today as well! Banking my calories up for the weekend, socialising with friends on Friday and want to have a couple of guilt free drinks and some chips ideally 😂🙌🏻💜

TheRealHousewife · Today 08:29

Good Morning

@biscuitcat That is fantastic progress, Congratulations 🥳🥳🥳 Your health and wellbeing will benefit so much 🥰

@HappyLittleTreeFriend Balance is what we are aiming for and that includes having precious family/social time. The endorphin reward will be worth it. Sounds like you’ve got a great weekend lined up, enjoy! x

@10kstepsaday You're welcome. That’s a good amount of movement yesterday 👍

@Imthefunfriend Calorie counting isn’t for everyone. Eating mindfully is really important and if you remain consistent in that skill it will really help you reach your goals 👍

@MummyMags3 Welcome & Absolutely! Do what works for you, we will still all be cheering you on x

@DreamingOfGeneHunt Your pinto bean wraps sound delicious 😋

@TheWayTheLightFalls We will all want a blow by blow account of your date ❤️😬

@thenewaveragebear1983 Sounds like your diet was spot on by including 24 plants! Well done. I agree following the Zoe principles does lend itself to delicious meals. 😋

@FridayNighFeeling Sounds tough! Sending a hug x

Menu
Meal 1 - Halloumi stir fry. Greek yoghurt, nuts and seeds.
Meal 2 - GF Quiche and massive salad.

Drinks - Tea, black coffee and water.

Thanks for the message @TheRealHousewife I really need to learn just to go with it - mixed success on that front... back down today but I really do wish my hormones were more stable... I imagine most women do!

Happy one year anniversary @biscuitcat Mine is mid June.

Plan for today is to stick to the plan and start strong with Fage, a weighed out portion of granola and blackberries to help fill me up.

CinnamonSweet73 · Today 08:36

Well done @biscuitcat Thats an amazing achievement, you should be very proud!

Back on it here, gym done, porridge eaten, a WFH day ahead!

DreamingOfGeneHunt · Today 09:21

Measured myself this morning and despite losing 3 stone altogether, I've only lost an inch off my thighs!!! Rather infuriating.

Meals today:
Porridge and raisins, yoghurt
Lunch- lentil wrap with lettuce, peanut butter and sweet chilli sauce, cherry tomatoes and an apple
Dinner- chickpea and tuna pasta (2oz pasta because I'm a pasta fiend and can't be trusted with large amounts) with leeks and then blackberry jelly.

Try not to be disheartened… that inch isn’t only from where the tape lay … everywhere will be reduced! Great achievement! 👏

Well done @biscuitcat - that’s an amazing achievement!

I’m already feeling like it’s going to be a struggle this week. Let’s see what happens.

MummyMags3 · Today 13:39

We are out at our local shopping centre and its lunch time. My husband wanted KFC so I had their Ranch Rice Bowl. On Slimming World its 9 swips and I am allowed 15 maximum, I had a Pepsi Max and I enjoyed every mouthful.

POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE at all times! @JustOneMoreMargarita
And consider changing your très unhelpful username 🤣
Working from home for tube strikes is the worst. Only metres away from the fridge... missing out on my steps... I must stay strong ...
😤

JustOneMoreMargarita · Today 14:26

@DryTerryandJUNE - yeah sorry about the username. Not very dry month friendly 🤣

I know. Positive mental attitude. I’ve made it into the office despite the strikes but there are snacks and it’s quiet. I’ve got this though. Salad eaten and I am resisting the snacks so far.

BreakingBroken · Today 17:36

after plating my food and entering the details of the boiled egg, toast/butter, and banana, i put back the baked beans. the total of 340+ would have meant more careful choices at lunch and supper so to give me better options the rest of the day i set them aside.
meanwhile on the scale my vascular age is more in keeping with my real age and the fitness score HAS to be wonky. with a little research i gather it's just not picking up my exercise from apple, so i deleted that measurement from my screen. because the instructions on how to pair this is too finicky. muscle mass still going up and fat down.
i'm pleased with how much movement i'm getting throughout the day; walking house/yardwork and a short online fitness session. consistently getting 12,000 steps and burning an estimated 600 calories a day. when i remember i use 2lb hand weights with the online stuff.
the weather seems good so i will do section of my neighborhood with the steps.
i hope little positive steps help even when the scale doesn't show it.
