OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Summers arrived!

It’s never too late to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body. To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost around 45lbs. Currently I’m maintaining at 9st 2lb but I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! You'll be pleased you did 😊

Well, I keep putting on weight every time I check. I have started an excersice lower body strength 4 week challenge and eaten more cake than normal, so maybe I'm gaining some muscle weight. But we have no cake and biscuits in the house so today should be better... but then we're on holiday.

I have a question about intermittent fasting. I normally do 14 from 6pm until 8am, by having an early dinner and taking breakfast with me to eat just before working. I built this up from 10 hours and it's not difficult. I've tried a later breakfast because I'm not massively hungry BUT I do find myself being hangry..so can't start work without it. Does anyone else do this.

It may be that 14h is the best balance for you. If it’s not difficult it’s sustainable and that’s ideal! If you want to experiment I’d maybe see if you can go another hour in the morning on a black coffee etc, but otherwise you have found what works for you and that’s brilliant.

Alwayslearning25 · 28/07/2025 06:28

Thanks. The issue is convinced as mostly I'm busy working at 9am.

Alwayslearning25 · 28/07/2025 06:30

I used to have breakfast at 6am, now I have a black coffee then and breakfast later.

Fellsbells · 28/07/2025 07:36

Third day on the trot I’ve put a lb on. I am eating in a calorie deficit so I can only assume it’s water weight from carbs (there has been a lot) and hormones. Also a bit of water in my muscles from working out. I’ll expect a whoosh in a week or two.

yesterday was
B-yoghurt and seeds
L- home made pizza and cake
D- houmous, crackers, carrots and chicken.
S- smoothie

Hello 👋 Can I join? Maybe too late for July but can wait till August. I’ve put on a fair bit of weight the last few years due to stress . Tried this last few weeks off work to get back on track. Thought I’d done well with eating and running but couldn’t fasten my previously loose jeans yesterday ☹️

Don’t have scales so off to weigh myself today and get serious. I eat well so think portion control is the issue. Weighed my granola today and it was double the portion I thought!!

PreetyinPurple · 28/07/2025 10:01

Slightly up today. Hopefully starting to go back down again tomorrow. Went for a massive walk yesterday and then I had a cake, first big sweet thing I’ve had in 6 weeks, it was great.

Welcome! I find granola super calorific, I seem to look at it and put weight on. Maybe because it is so tasty.

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 28/07/2025 17:16

Hello all, especially new comers. I like the getting my pink back thing and it can apply in so many stages of our lives... I'm just aiming to get the weight off in peri because otherwise I'm going to struggle and struggle even more. Need to look after myself now.

I'm going to hop on the scales tomorrow and see what's what but not stress over it all, just keep plodding on. Yesterday and today were both fairly good and no reason tomorrow can't be the same!

LittleCarrot12 · 28/07/2025 20:28

Thanks all. Managed to stick to plan today and was under 1500 calories and hit my 10k steps. Didn’t manage to weigh myself so need to do that tomorrow.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 28/07/2025 20:38

I have a sugar free granola that I like for breakfast. I have a fairly small portion of it, but I have it with a big dollop of fage yoghurt and berries (I defrost frozen ones overnight) and add in some chia seeds and flax seeds and the calorie count isn’t too bad.

i don’t want to speak too soon but I think my exercise mojo is coming back. I did a full strength class tonight. Weights are lower than what I was using earlier in the year, but I think I need to build back up.

After Friday, the next two weeks are going to be a challenge for me. I’m in Edinburgh and will be on annual leave - there’ll be lots of trips to the fringe (which invariably will involve alcohol and street food) and we have various visitors staying so lots of hosting and socialising. At least if I have my exercise mojo I will be able to hold one front!

Today’s menu

B - boiled egg with toast
L - lentil & bacon soup, satsuma, falafel & humous, quavers
D - mixed bean dish with halloumi.

No snacks!

Fellsbells · 28/07/2025 20:54

Well done and welcome to the new folks.

I’m telling myself the kitchen is shut. I will not go snacking. Somebody lock the pantry door.

Reasonable day for me. Within calories, had a walk and I might do a little workout before bed.

B-yoghurt, flax,chia,kefier.
L- smoothie and slice of cake
D- BBQ meat and salad.

LittleCarrot12 · 28/07/2025 21:21

Good to know about the granola. Once I weighed a correct portion it was only 220 calories so not too bad. I have it with Fat Free Greek yogurt, PB, chia seed and dates. It’s the only breakfast that fills me up.

B : Above
L: Ham salad sandwich with discos.
D. Veg stir fry with egg for protein
S. Tea with cracker and cheese

Finished dinner at 530 and hoping to hold off breakfast till 10am

socks1107 · 28/07/2025 22:01

I tried on my next goal dress to see how far I had to go and it fits!! Been back on track since my holiday so am hoping for a good loss this week to keep me on track for the last stone

TheWayTheLightFalls · 29/07/2025 06:10

Morning, weighing in today as we’re off on holiday later - 74.3kg. Not sure I’ll weigh on holiday, quite sure I will put on some weight - let’s see. I think I will try stick to a rough 14:10 schedule for eating, that feels realistic.

LegoTherapy · 29/07/2025 08:42

Morning all. I feel the guilt of absence. I’ve been chilling a bit and keeping up with the predicted course. It’s run by Second Nature which is used by the NHS as a weight loss resource. That explains their focus. Diabetes UK says that there’s no consistent proof that reducing carbs benefits everyone so I’m annoyed at their 90g carb a day recommendation. If I was eating how they want me to eat I’d weight about 7 stone by now. It’s also really patronising I find and I’m bored of it completely because it suggests cutting UPFs (did that 2 years ago), eating smaller meals (haven’t eaten big meals for nearly 3 years), drinking more water (already do that), exercising more (already walking 50 miles a week and rarely still), get more sleep (trying to do that), less stress (you’re having a laugh) and cooking from (already do that), and lose weight (already a healthy weight and have been most of my life). So it’s frustrating to still be prediabetic when I already do 90% of what they recommend. I’m feeling grumpy today.

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 29/07/2025 10:44

Sounds very tough @LegoTherapy - who wouldn't want less stress, feels like such an empty platitude, because life is full of stress and more so for a lot of us then others.

Had a very stressful evening last night, but kitchen had already shut, so I had a can of Appletiser roundabout 200kal and left it at that.

I've hopped on the scales and I've lost over the holiday! Now half a stone down in about 6 weeks so that's slow and steady. Thanks to you all!

Menu:
chia, fage, berries
pastrami and cheese sandwich
costa frappe (meeting friend for coffee)
pesto pasta

biscuitcat · 29/07/2025 14:21

That does sound frustrating @LegoTherapy - I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes in my second pregnancy and I don’t know how this compares, but the advice from the NHS was useless, saying you should base your diet on starches which tend to be a nightmare! I know the NHS has to be for everyone, but it does feel as though they think everyone is an idiot sometimes…

I’ve had a rubbish couple of days’ eating because of social things and just being exhausted and craving sugary and salty things, so I’m expecting at the very best to have stayed the same this week but realistically a gain I think. The advantage at least of really reducing UPFs is I don’t have many in the house so when I was craving all that stuff I had to make do with non-UPF alternatives - they didn’t hit the spot in quite the same way but I also managed to only eat 2 or 3 homemade biscuits rather than a whole packet of UPF ones which I suppose is a victory of sorts!!

Today’s menu is Greek yoghurt with strawberries for breakfast, a croque monsieur for lunch (to use up some leftover bechamel sauce) and a chicken Katsu poke bowl for dinner.

WearyAuldWumman · 29/07/2025 14:59

waves

Made it back home from family wedding a day late - flights were cancelled.

Over the 11 days, I've gained 2lbs. Not too worried about that - should disappear once I'm back to my normal routine.

I'll be surprised if it's actual fat - I've been walking a lot and I reckon that I've been eating to maintenance level, though I'm maybe kidding myself.

HazelNotHungryLC · 29/07/2025 15:35

I've been pretty good all week, a few more carbs slipped in over the weekend than I should have allowed, but nothing too outrageous.

SW: 167.3lbs
CW: 165.2lbs
Loss: 2.1lbs

I did see 164.2lbs before the weekend though. Overall I'm headed in the right direction and this is a WOE for me, not a diet, I'm just getting back on track.
I'll be doing my spin bike workout again this morning (I'm 7 hrs behind you lot in the UK), I'm already in my workout clothes!

PreetyinPurple · 29/07/2025 16:15

One of DDs friends has given us a bug so we are stuck in bed. So I can’t exercise and I can’t eat much and weirdly I feel so massive, maybe bloated…
I have a gym induction coming up too!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 29/07/2025 19:40

Managed another exercise class today - bodycombat. Not as much of a calorie burn I was liked, but I think it was the class rather than my mojo, I just didn’t love the routines or the presenters.

on the food front my usual boiled egg breakfast and soup:protein/fruit lunch. Fish pie and green beans for dinner.

LemonDrizzle23 · 29/07/2025 21:52

Had a very unflattering photo of me taken on a day out today 😩 Have been feeling quite good. Basically 20lbs down. Clothes starting to hang off me. Legs changing shape with all my walking. Then boom. Nothing like a candid snap to remind you how much you still have to lose….

Need to remember my progress so far, and make sure I have some new, positive goals for August.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 29/07/2025 23:02

You’ve made great progress @LemonDrizzle23 A candid snap at a bag angle can be unflattering for anyone!

TealSloth · 30/07/2025 06:46

These two weeks have been hard. Getting use to new routine. Focusing on the other area of my goals. Now that I am on it. I can carry on focusing what is more important my target weight. Third week of holidays and this week weekend will be my main focus to make sure I don't slip and keep my focus on. Good luck ladies.

socks1107 · 30/07/2025 07:34

Another 2lb this week.

SW 13.13
CW 11.10
GW 11.8

I’ve been on this 7 months now and it feels so slow 😂 but good at the same time to have lost what I have
