Following on from ☀️LOSE IT!☀️Joyful June 2025☀️

OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Summers arrived!

It’s never too late to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body. To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost around 45lbs. Currently I’m maintaining at 9st 2lb but I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! You'll be pleased you did 😊

73.2kg today! I'll take that.

It's so warm today. I had to do some work today and the study was like a sauna! I'm finding it so hard to sleep.

Hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend.

I saw this thing on Pinterest about really lavishing yourself in self care, so I'm going to try to add more of this into my routine.

PatienceOfEngels · 13/07/2025 07:31

"really lavishing yourself in self care" This sounds like a good plan @StudyWasp !

I said yesterday that I have to stay off my devices today and try to relax. Allowed myself a little catch up this morning but now going offline (except for yoga video and Spotify later).

@BlueOysterCultGroupie my physical reaction has really put me off doing it again. DH thinks I should forget plasma and just try donating blood which is fewer times a year and takes less time, especially since it was the return of my red blood cells that caused me to feel really ill.

Rendang last night was so delicious! Beef is really expensive so we only have it a few times a year. I should pay more attention to when it's on offer.

Plan for today:
-go out for a walk
-yoga
-face mask and foot pamper
-soup out the freezer for lunch
-chicken casserole with potatoes and carrots (trying to use up all our fresh veg before we head off on holiday)

LemonDrizzle23 · 13/07/2025 09:11

No idea what the scales are doing for me. They seem to go up and down as it gets hotter and cooler. Is that a thing?!

We’re heading out for a glorious (and calorific 😬) sushi lunch today. Between that and the heat I think I shall be ignoring the scales until WOW.

This afternoon is the Wimbledon men’s final which should be fantastic, so that’s our plan I think. None of us are sleeping well in this heat, so we’re all knackered and slightly grouchy!

PreetyinPurple · 13/07/2025 09:46

Not been well for 2 days so hardly moved. However I have stayed well within my calories and nothing…I’m also wondering if it’s the heat and water retention.

Going to try and go for a walk but not sure if it’s still too hot, this weather is so limiting. Wish I started in the winter!

socks1107 · 13/07/2025 16:39

Well I’ve figured out why I’ve stalled this month. I didn’t realise I need to adjust my start weight in Nutracheck and have been eating close to maintenance. Hence bouncing around the same pound. I feel so silly and now armed to lose the stone before my September holiday

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 13/07/2025 16:46

Ah there's so much to think about @socks1107 I'm sure you'll do well now it's sorted.

Feel better soon @PreetyinPurple

frostedshreddie · 13/07/2025 18:05

Hope everyone has had a good weekend :)
Had my event yesterday, felt pretty good in my dress - it was quite flattering around my waist area but didn't realize how wide my shoulders/arms looked 🤦🏻‍♀️ I only realized once seeing photos of the day back! Think it is because of these 'puff' sleeves every dress seems to have ATM. Never mind. Onwards and inward.

Today was Day 1 of my personal challenge 21 days no refined sugar. I have eaten:
2 hard boiled eggs with Zaatar
Spinach and fruit smoothie
Pasta carbonara
Handful of grapes and an apple

I also made a recipe from a quitting sugar book which is coconut muffins (they have raw honey in) and they have coconut flour in so are quite crumbly. I had one crumbled up with some skyr yoghurt as a snack.
And that's me done for the day, kitchen closed.
Still continuing with 16:8 fasting as well.
Let's have a good week 😃

biscuitcat · 13/07/2025 18:43

@StudyWasp I love that notion of lavishing yourself in self care - I need to try and do some more of that!

@socks1107 oh gosh I didn’t realise that you had to change it on Nutracheck, I thought it would automatically adjust with your weight! Excellent tip, thank you 🙏

CursiveCrisis · 13/07/2025 19:27

I haven’t been tracking anything as such, just putting my food intake into to chatGPT and the calories per serving. It replies and tells me I’m doing well to keep on track and the odd motivational message. I downloaded the NHS app and that recommended I aim for 6lb ish in 12 weeks. I thought that was really low!

CursiveCrisis · 13/07/2025 19:29

Not sure if I mentioned this in my previous post but I started in the obese BMI and now in the overweight section. I am starting to wonder if I should take some scales on holiday to make sure I am not undoing all my progress.

CursiveCrisis · 13/07/2025 19:32

I’m weighing in daily too… not getting bothered if I put something on one day as long as my weekly weigh in is a loss.

Alwayslearning25 · 13/07/2025 20:39

Ok, I've been holding off on weighing myself since the scales were unkind until after my period starts, as I had peak just before June's period.

CursiveCrisis · 14/07/2025 07:05

Another lb off. Need 1.5 off in 9 days to hit target. I’ve got this!

@Alwayslearning25 I need to work out how much my weight fluctuates by when I’m on my period. I seem to struggle with working it out. I have bought some period delay tablets for the holiday and I am a little worried this means I’ll be carrying a little extra hormonal weight for longer too.

LegoTherapy · 14/07/2025 09:49

I have McDonald’s and pizza and chips bloat from a weekend away. It’s not good but I know it will be gone by the end of the week.

I had a reply from the dietician attached to the pre-diabetes course. She’s told me I should be eating 2000-2200 calories a day while the app that comes with the course tells me I need to lose weight 🙄

TheWayTheLightFalls · 14/07/2025 10:32

@LegoTherapy your experience with the diabetes team reads like a "How not to advise your patients" manual. I'm so sorry, it sounds awful.

@CursiveCrisis re scales on holiday - up to you. I'm at maintenance now but even during active weight loss treated holidays like a break from the diet, otherwise it felt too difficult. So I wouldn't weigh myself. If I was up for it I'd make small changes - eg if I didn't especially feel like chips or pizza I'd swerve that whereas before I might've just eaten them out of habit, same with alcohol, and I would sometimes try to treat travel days as fasting days and skip breakfast/dinner. But if you are out and fancy a glass of wine / nice meal or whatever - I would enjoy that. It's a holiday. If you eat well overall it won't affect you in the grand scheme of things.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 14/07/2025 12:44

Back at work today after our holiday, and back on the healthy eating! I did have a sneaky go on the scales over the weekend and I was 6lbs up from pre-holiday, but as well as holiday bloat I was on my period so I think it’ll be Wed or Thurs before I’ve got a true picture. Need to find some motivation to exercise, which is tough in this heat! (Not that I’m complaining about the sunshine though, I spend too much time bemoaning the lack of it).

CursiveCrisis · 14/07/2025 16:40

@TheWayTheLightFalls I don’t think I’ll take them as I don’t want to be watching what I do, but at the same time I don’t want to come home a stone heavier! I will definitely be going all out as we have restaurants we can book for each night as part of the all inclusive, as well as room service and a snack bar. I think it will be the alcohol that does it for me though, I am very much a sweet cocktail kind of person!

frostedshreddie · 14/07/2025 18:41

Today went well, had a school event with family picnic so that was my break-fast and I ate only fruit and cucumber/pepper slices, resisted the ice cream van 😆
When I got home had 2 of the coconut no sugar muffins I made with loads of skyr yoghurt as a big snack
Then chicken and veg for dinner

Got massively sunburnt at the event even though was wearing sun cream, over cast so I guess I didn't realize how strong the sun still is! Booo!! Hate sunburn!! Lots of water.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 14/07/2025 21:22

Could not stop eating yesterday, should've clocked - came on to my period today. Today was better - one meal at lunchtime, fruit, coffee, a relatively low calorie bubble tea - so kitchen closed around 1200 cal I think.

Good lord I hope tomorrow is cooler!

Raindancer411 · 14/07/2025 22:36

Tomorrow is not looking good food wise! I am on a school trip and taking cheese sandwich, crisps and a small chocolate bar. Oh dear, maybe I won’t weight Wednesday lol

LemonDrizzle23 · 15/07/2025 07:09

Well according to the scales I’m up 3.5lbs since Friday! That seems unlikely, so I’m just going to have to wait for them to return to normal for whatever reason. Very annoying though in the middle of reaching some all time lows!

@frostedshreddie we had sports day last week and there was a number of very pink parents at drop off the next day 😬 hope you’re feeling more comfortable soon.

Sjanish33 · 15/07/2025 07:40

I am down another 3lb this week - that is 6lb since I started on the 1st! Delighted to see the scales shift because I find it hard to lose weight - I moved into another bmi number and another stone bracket -

SW: 97.4kg
CW: 94.7kg
TW: 65kg

I have a long way to go!

Wishing you all well for the weekly weigh ins!

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 15/07/2025 07:45

Quick check in as I've managed to get on the scales and I'm now 2.6kg down in total - just over 5 1/2lbs for the old money crew Wink Might fit in another weigh before we go on holiday at the weekend, but will be trying to be sensible.

Back later to read everyone's updates.... just Shock @LegoTherapy at the advice you've been given!!!!

dayslikethese1 · 15/07/2025 08:28

Can I join? Realised my weight had crept up a bit so I've been tracking with MFP since June. Lost about 6 lbs so far I think but just got back from being away with family (lots of beer and pub meals) so might be up now. Gonna eat light for a couple days before I weigh again. Planning on having salad and some olives for lunch and then lemon coughetti for tea plus some iced coffee (I've been making it at home with oat milk and stevia, seems to work pretty well). Fage 0 yoghurt and blueberries for a snack if needed. I want to lose another half stone ideally as that's the weight I'm most comfortable at.

Rude scales.
The pre diabetes course has sent me some scales but I haven’t even opened them because I’ve already got digital scales. Such a waste but they insisted on sending them even though I said I’d already got some. The dietician keeps saying I need more fat. There’s 20g of fat in my lunchtime hummus. Then there’s the olive oil in the breadsticks at around 5g. Small amount in my porridge. Then there’s seeds toasted in olive oil plus any chocolate or crisps I eat plus butter. My cholesterol levels are perfect so I’m not wanting to increase them.
