Following on from ☀️LOSE IT! May 2025☀️

⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Here comes summer!

It’s never too late to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body.

To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost just around 45lbs. After having been on the wrong side of 12st, the last time I weighed I was hovering around 9st 2lbs. I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! Come summer you’ll be pleased you did 😊

Beloved long timers it would be great for you to keep going❤️

Whoever started this thread - THANK YOU thank you thank you!!! I am officially lighter than I've been in a year! I can't believe, heard so much negative feedback about calorie counting and been so pessimistic about it but it actually WORKS! 7 kg down. Lol now need to lose 15 more 😅

PatienceOfEngels · 03/06/2025 07:33

Morning all!

Thank you @LemonDrizzle23 ! I'm hoping for a more relaxed June and a bit more time to focus on myself instead of prioitising work, kids, family. On the count down to summer holidays now - less than 5 weeks to go here! Going to ensure I chip away at my end of term tasks so I can really make the most of sunshine, and the garden.

@2in2022twoyearson I do love Dr Chatterjee's podcast. Listened to it a lot when I found it 2.5 years ago, though find it a bit samey nowadays (he keeps banging on about park run and his 5 minute workout while his coffee brews!). Every now and again a really good one comes along though and I still re-listen to some of the old ones to inspire and motivate me.

@LegoTherapy - feel like I've had a similar few months. No headspace to look after myself.

Well, yesterday went okay:
-boiled egg, rye toast, butter, coffee with milk
-fruit and veg side plate
-courgette pancakes, strawberries and squirty cream, a chocolate waffle
-more strawberries
-2 slices of bread and butter (this was my 'could have done without snack'. usually have dinner when I get home but DC had a sports session right in the middle of dinner time so wanted something to see me through).
-spaghetti bolognese.

+No evening eating.
+first coffee of the day outside with the sun rising
+12,000 steps
+hour outside in the later afternoon/early evening
+hobby evening to lift my mood
+only water and herbal tea to drink (after my coffee with breakfast).

Today I am off work so always a danger day.
Not sure what to do for dinner - have chicken breasts, lots of veg, mozzarella. May do a pasta bake (normally do with ham, maybe this time with chicken instead?). Don't fancy casserole or curry today.

PatienceOfEngels · 03/06/2025 07:38

Welcome to all the new joiners. It's a very friendly and non-judgmental thread. Do what works for you.

I struggle with IF and calorie counting so these are my simple rules that I try to stick to:

-no alcohol
-no caffeine after 12 (usually, only with breakfast actually)
-3 meals a day with as little UPF as possible
-snacks - fruit and veg with an exception for home-baking (max once a week, but ideally once or twice a month)
-water and herbal tea to drink
-get outside every day
-10,000 steps a day
-no eating after dinner (eating window of 12 hours)

Note I said 'try' to stick to!

Yesterday I managed all of these except the 2 snacks of bread and butter and the chocolate waffle.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 03/06/2025 07:47

Good luck today @PatienceOfEngels , I enjoyed reading through your account of yesterday's events.

Yesterday was broadly fine but DH wanted dinner together at a time when frankly I was done for the day, but it was good to eat together and we went for sushi so tasty and not a disaster in terms of calories.

Today I'm skipping breakfast, will likely eat either one or two meals clustered in the middle part of the day and try to close the kitchen early. Again eating higher-end ready meals that claim to be UPF free and list their proteins etc. I do find them quite filling (don't feel like reaching for snacks after) so, while I won't do it every week, I'm happy to have them for now.

At work this morning and have an awkward meeting to get through so trying not to reward myself with food for getting through it.

LegoTherapy · 03/06/2025 08:03

Morning all. I’m down 0.35kg this morning or 1.4 packs of butter🤣 I buy Kerrygold which is still 250g unlike many who have reduced theirs to 200g. Yesterday was 1.5 pieces homemade bread toast with butter and raspberry jam, 2 cups of tea with milk (skimmed for anyone who cares. I’ve drunk skimmed for over 40 years); lunch was Greek yogurt, raspberries and honey. I’ve really gone off raspberries as despite being from Waitrose they are tasteless and tart and mushy. I just mushed them into my yogurt which then took an hour to eat as I didn’t want it. Dinner was late and disorganised due to a visitor at 6pm so I had red pepper hummus with Jacob’s bites. Snacking of 5 tick tea fingers whilst waiting for the visitor. I really wanted to eat chocolate st bedtime whilst reading but I’d cleaned my teeth and didn’t want to do them again and that helped keep me on track. I might have had a Belgian waffle at some point but I can’t remember. I was sat all day building Lego so no exercise. I drank lots of water though. Today I’m gardening and cleaning and hoping the rain stops so that I can do the former without getting soaked.
Im feeling positive for WOW tomorrow if I keep things light today. Anything salty really does make a difference although the crackers were salty they perhaps aren’t as bad as the proper chips.

LemonTravels · 03/06/2025 08:34

Hello. I'd like to join. I'd lost 10kg this time last year. Can not believe I have put it all back on. My goal for June is a 3kg loss. I plan to eat 2 meals a day, focusing on whole foods, lots of vegetables and exercising 5 days a week. I have found a great channel on YouTube which has loads of different workouts and I highly recommend called NourishMoveLove. Good luck everyone.
SW 81.1 kg

Oh I’m a many-time c25k veteran 😆 have run a few half marathons (once did two in a week!) but that was several years and many stones ago. It is such a good programme - just finding time to do it alongside everything else is a struggle!

Oo nice. Before the hospital stay I was running 2/3 5ks a week but since then I'm starting over completely as my body didn't want to work 😂 we're getting there, slowly.

The scales said I've lost a bit but I think it is just natural fluctuations.

I am fully addicted to Warburtons crumpets. I've had them every day for the last 8 weeks 😂

biscuitcat · 03/06/2025 09:06

I’d love to join if that’s ok - I’m not far off my heaviest weight ever and just really want to feel better in myself and look better too. Lockdown and three children in 3.5 years have done a number on me! I’m breastfeeding DS3 and as he’s only 3 months will be hopefully for another year or so, so can’t consider WLI for a while. I’ve done couch to 5k before and really want to again - currently my joints don’t feel quite stable enough after pregnancy and I don’t want to risk an injury, so will stick to dog walking and hopefully swimming too if I can sort childcare!

I’m really trying to reduce UPF so I want to track and focus on whole foods, as well as eating a larger amount and variety of plants. My dream would be to lose 5 or 6 stone, slowly and sustainably - so there’s time to build in good habits and hopefully keep it off!

TerroristToddler · 03/06/2025 10:05

I'm joining - I was in all the threads Jan to April, but ducked out end of April as had weddings, holidays and birthdays and needed a bit of a break from constantly tracking calories on my app. Managed to pretty much stay the same weight as when I stopped, within 1.5lbs +/- depending on the day. Back on it now with countdown to my holiday, which is at end of July!398

Height: 5ft 2'
SW (Jan) - 141lbs
CW - 129.8lbs
GW - 124lbs
Current BMI - 23.9

I have been calorie counting again the past 2 weeks, and managed to lose about 1.5lbs. Unfortunately have a lot of family events and things every weekend atm so finding the weekends are messing up my progress, even if I only go 'off track' a tiny amount.

Breakfast - porridge (164 cals)
Lunch - Field Doctor chicken tikka meal (398 cals)
Dinner - chicken soup and slice of thick bread, Alpro yog (294 cal)

Have already done 35mins weighted vest brisk walk on the treadmill this morning, with 15mins of that being incline walking. Hoping to hop back on for a walk later to get the full 10,000 steps completed for the day!

ReallyNeedToLoseWeightNow · 03/06/2025 12:14

I’m not feeling great today 😬 I’m tired and achey and a bit snotty 🤧

I had about 1556 calories on Sunday and I had 1248 calories yesterday which I thought was pretty good as my myfitnesspal goal was 1680 a day to lose 2 pounds a week but after looking it the settings this morning it seems that it was somehow set to a custom amount and my goal is actually 1970 a day to lose 2 pounds a week so I might actually be shocking my body by eating too little… I don’t know 🤷‍♀️

I’ve had a slimfast shake and a pack of Go Ahead forest fruit slices so far today which was 366 calories and I’ve got a slimfast shake, grapes, strawberries and a packet of snack a jacks for lunch which will be 408 calories. Tea is fajitas from Gousto which says it will be 628 calories and I’m not really sure what would be a good healthy side to up the calories a little bit but I think I will need to as it will only be 1402 calories all day otherwise 🤔

I have to do 2 25-30 minute walks today so that can be my exercise and I will aim for 10000 steps.

Also, does anyone else feel like need a wee all the time with drinking more water? 😬🙈

2in2022twoyearson · 03/06/2025 12:43

I got my first Riverside box today with lots of seasonal veg so having a salad with sandwich for lunch. If I hadn't got it I'd have to shop tomorrow with ds, which is never fun plus I'd buy more junk. I'm weighing daily and going to post my weekly average every Wednesday.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 03/06/2025 13:10

I wanted to get out for a lunchtime walk today, but it is pouring down. 🙄

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 03/06/2025 13:13

Welcome @biscuitcat and @LemonTravels !

@LegoTherapy i still buy Kerrygold for exactly that reason! A 200 gram pack of butter is no good for so many recipes (though to be fair, I’m not using as many of those recipes just now!!!).

AnonymousMum37 · 03/06/2025 13:37

I ran 5km to a pilates class today then 5km back 💪🏼 had a protein coffee and a couple of dried apricots for breakfast as I get a stitch of I eat more before a run. 3x scrambled eggs with spring onions and 100g smoked salmon with one slice of bread and spinach for lunch. Much needed! Stir fry vegetables and noodles with Quorn and edamame for dinner.

Tuesday is my non office day so I try to do as much exercise as possible!!

Marshmellowbunny · 03/06/2025 16:41

Today was going okay until I found and proceeded to scoff down half of a white chocolate unicorn 😂

Had crumpets again for breakfast.
A pork salad for lunch.
And then the unicorn incident happened.
Having sausage and mash for dinner.

Going to try and be good and have one sausage but I'll probably end up having two 😑

I haven't even been out and exercised today. But I have done 10mins of Yoga 😂

LegoTherapy · 03/06/2025 17:47

@Marshmellowbunny we are having a chippy tea. Chips and curry for me. Today has been awful: 2 waffles, 1 kitkat (2 ginger), a chunk of dark chocolate, small bag crisps. I’ve done 4 solid hours of weeding and digging in the garden at mu
mum’s and walked there so I’m
on 5 miles so far and not home yet.

frostedshreddie · 03/06/2025 18:37

Today:
30 mins abs workout
2 L water

B: Banana Protein Shake
L: Green Veg + Chicken Breast
D: Miso Tofu & Sweet Potatoes
snack: chocolate protein pudding
1499 calories

I fell down the stairs this morning and my tailbone is so so painful now, walking is sore, going up and down the stairs is torture! Sitting down ok until I move slightly 🤣
Fgs!! I have 30 mins on exercise bike planned this evening.....we shall see how THAT goes! If it's awful I am going for a very sssslllow walk around the block.

Weigh day tomorrow!

socks1107 · 03/06/2025 18:37

A good day for me, done my 18k steps, walked up the escalator on the tube and have enough for some cake ( DDs birthday). Haven’t made the goal set for today by 2lbs but not far off is still an achievement.
ready for WOW

WearyAuldWumman · 03/06/2025 18:38

No gym for me today, but I've stayed within my calories.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 03/06/2025 18:50

frosted - ow! I hope you wake up tmrw good as new.

Ended up doing one meal only today (about 650 cal), with coffees, apples and frozen grapes as snacks at various points. DH working late so I'm closing the kitchen here. Normal day tomorrow.

myrightarmandleg · 03/06/2025 19:18

I've ruined myself and had the fattest day ever. Can I get back on and lose a stone in 7 weeks ? Is that even possible ??

You've done lots of exercise! Well done. It'll probably mitigate some of your eating.

Your food sounds real good though.

I ended up having 3 sausages and lots of mash 😂🙈

I'm going to test my maths here, bear with Grin.

A stone is 6.4kg. So over each week you'd need to lose around 900g. A calorie deficit of 3500 cal a week gets you a 500g loss a week (you'd need 7500ish to lose a kg a week).

Assuming you are 5'5, 40 years old, overweight not obese and sedentary (I've no idea, guessing), your TDEE, the amount you need to eat to maintain is around 1650 cal a day.

Aiming for "just" a 500g loss weekly would need to see you dropping your calories to 1150 a day - that's already pretty miserable/limited. Double that would be terrible for your long term health and unsustainable.

In your shoes I'd (firstly calculate all the bits above where I have guessed and then) work out a 1200 a day meal plan or investigate something like Fast 800. You'll get most of a stone down and it'll be better for you and more sustainable.

biscuitcat · 03/06/2025 19:52

I did no exercise at all today - in fact hardly left the sofa as the baby cried unless held at all times and the weather was too hideous to get out for a walk. But I’ve stayed within calories and had 6.5 portions of fruit and veg, which I’m taking as a win, as DH is away with work for a couple of days so I’ve had all three kids by myself!
