Following on from ☀️LOSE IT! May 2025☀️

⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Here comes summer!

It’s never too late to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body.

To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost just around 45lbs. After having been on the wrong side of 12st, the last time I weighed I was hovering around 9st 2lbs. I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! Come summer you’ll be pleased you did 😊

Beloved long timers it would be great for you to keep going❤️

We've got this for June everyone!

I bought the Emily English book - it was on my list as I went to a bookstore and flicked through tonnes of books. I find that much better than taking a risk on Amazon.

It's great- lots of things I make anyway which are basically a lot of the usuals in a balanced kitchen but with healthy subs in them which I love. It's always the addition of flavours that I struggle with or forget and there's a lot of that. Plus good gut health / fibre focus. I feel healthier owning it 😆 Also gives me things to move onto as I get bored. They all show the protein content which is good, and I can always add more carbs where needed.

I did buy Dr's Kitchen protein book and was not that impressed. It felt like some of the old healthy recipes that I already knew about but are a bit dry and dull. Almost like he is putting more into his online app than his books I felt. I did buy it on Kindle so maybe that played a part - never quite the same!

myrightarmandleg · 02/06/2025 08:31

My mantra is to quantify EVERYTHING. If you cannot quantify it, you cannot eat it. There are no 'handfuls' of anything, what is a handful to one is different to another. If there is no clear weight/portion size (e.g square of chocolate) which you can work out the cals etc then it's a no for me.

If it's not on my plate - I cannot eat it
It it's un-quantifiable - I cannot eat it
If it's not my food - I cannot eat it (this will stop me picking the DC left overs)

letstrythis · 02/06/2025 09:00

Hello, I’d like to join in please.
weighed in at 76.4k this morning. I’m trying to increase my protein and fibre intake so I’m using AI to track everything I eat.
Despite eating well within my deficit it’s torturously slow.
Struggling with IBS as my body seems to be holding on to everything that I eat! The fibre is having the opposite effect.

LemonDrizzle23 · 02/06/2025 10:27

Morning all! And hello to June! I hope June brings a bit more headspace for you @LegoTherapy.

DS is back to school after half term today, so I did the school run, 4.5km walk and had breakfast. Enjoying a bit of peace and quiet today! Will aim for another 4.5km later before pick up.

Is that what is causing it? 😁

Middle class problem but I could not find any in Waitrose (I live next to one). I ended up with Quark which turns out is not the same.

I've been reading up online on how to make it as I have a yoghurt maker and had great success with making my own yoghurt. Rather than £3.60 a week it's costing 99p now which is price of a carton of UHT milk for thick Greek yoghurt.

I'll be a dairy production factory soon 😆

I'm having supply problems because my go-to place for shopping is the local Co-op and they're still having supply problems - no Greek yoghurt for a week. Switched to the Onken that they do have in, but it's just not the same. Their cheese supplies are beginning to reappear, however.

I'm now on my own, so I'm sticking to my diet by not buying things in. If it's in the house, I'll eat it, so no chocolate etc in the house at all.

When it comes to quantifying, I know that my daily cereal just covers the bottom of the bowl and no more. I use dessert spoons to quantify everything else. I did try 'guessing,' but that didn't work at all, probably because I was underestimating quantities.

ReallyNeedToLoseWeightNow · 02/06/2025 11:30

I did really well yesterday!! I had no unnecessary/unhealthy snacks, no fizzy pop and no dessert!!

I had a slimfast shake for breakfast, a slimfast strawberry choc snack bar for a snack/lunch as I forgot lunch and Shepherd’s pie, carrots, peas, broccoli, Yorkshire puddings and gravy for tea. I drank water and dilute Vimto. I also did 16 minutes of exercise which was a dance workout and cool down stretch on YouTube and my Fitbit said that I burnt 245 calories doing that. I felt a bit hungry later on in the evening but I ignored it!! 😁 Time for day 2!!

Marshmellowbunny · 02/06/2025 12:01

I usually just follow silently but today I'm being brave and writing something.

At the start of the year I was in hospital and put on lots just lying there.

I'm currently doing the couch to 5K and trying to do yoga everyday.

I bought some scales today and I'm at 67kg. I'm really short so it's really showing 😪

TheWayTheLightFalls · 02/06/2025 12:11

Welcome marsh! Well done really!

All ok here so far, no breakfast, early 550cal lunch of an "AllWeek" (posh ready meal) meal and now a coffee. Would love an apple but am stuck at work now and can't go out. Will have some icy water.

&Well done for your successful day so far. You've just tempted me to get some icy water before I head out Couchto5king 💪🏻

WearyAuldWumman · 02/06/2025 12:55

@Marshmellowbunny It sounds to me as though you're doing really well after a trying time.

socks1107 · 02/06/2025 13:13

my mini goal is water this week! I really stopped ended of last week so need to be very mindful
of it this week as it slows things down!

WearyAuldWumman · 02/06/2025 16:37

Have been to the gym. Only did a little - usual 10 mins HIIT, though I'm managing to get my walking speed up and my average heart rate has gone down slightly.

3X10 using 3kg weights for both arm raises and biceps curls whilst standing on vibro plate; 3X10 20kg on the lat machine.

Didn't do any more than that - arms were fatigued by then. It's not a lot, but I'm gradually getting fitter.

I'm noticing quite a few older women in the gym these days - it's good to see.

WoodlandDragon · 02/06/2025 18:31

Horrific night last night and day today with gallbladder flare up. Still sore but the worst has passed thank goodness. Does anyone have experience with gallbladder issues? I only have issues 2-3 times per year but it's getting so debilitating with severe pain now, have scared myself with the NHS website but it probably is time to get some help. Just dreading it being like my thyroid issues again, such a long process to sort out and lots of incorrect advice along the way 😞 also I don't know when to seek help because it usually flares when I'm ultra busy and don't have time to get to a doctor with the stupid system they have for booking, and has faded off by the time I could get there. Actually maybe I need to find a gallbladder advice thread!

2in2022twoyearson · 02/06/2025 19:28

Ok, so new official start weight as I weighed first thing in the morning like I used to and was a whole kg lighter than after dinner yesterday
72.3kg.
GW 65kg
So in about 15 weeks at 0.5kg a week.

Today was not great. I did 12 hours intermittent fasting, but I'll do it tomorrow, no s diet.

FrothyCothy · 02/06/2025 19:46

That’s me done for the day on 1740 cals, 120g protein, 8.5k steps (did 16k yesterday so still averaging 10k+ for the month) and 45 mins strength training.

I might be joining you on the c25k @Marshmellowbunny - what week are you on?

Just started week three. Definitely start it. It does what it says 😀 let me know if you do!

FrothyCothy · 02/06/2025 20:27

Oh I’m a many-time c25k veteran 😆 have run a few half marathons (once did two in a week!) but that was several years and many stones ago. It is such a good programme - just finding time to do it alongside everything else is a struggle!

LogicalBlodge · 02/06/2025 20:39

I'm not very good at quoting people successfully on here but well done on the couch 2 5k, and sorry to hear about the gall bladder issues. I love the mantra about quantifying everything...may try this rule.

Shut the kitchen on just under 1800 cals, slightly over on carb and under on protein.

I had the most amazing snack of homemade greek yoghurt, vanilla essence, honey, raspberries, mango and walnuts. I'd strained the yoghurt so the mix was like eating baked cheesecake.

frostedshreddie · 02/06/2025 22:06

Today:
30 mins yoga with adriene
30 mins on bike
2 L water

B: Banana Protein Shake
L: Green Veg + Chicken Breast
D: DH made a Thai green curry, I skipped the naan and had half portion of rice.
snack: cottage cheese on ryvita
1550 calories

Monday done ✅
Well done everyone!!

WearyAuldWumman · 02/06/2025 22:18

Finished within 1200 calories. At my weight and height, you'd think I could lose on a bit more - but I think that my age is mitigating against me. I'm not sure whether the fact that I was obese for 3 yrs in childhood has affected my metabolism or not.

Still having difficulty getting dairy products - no Greek yoghurt, no cottage cheese in the local Co-op. Managed to get the last Onken yoghurt. Had that for dessert with 6 chopped up strawberries.

WearyAuldWumman · 02/06/2025 22:24

Just to add that now that you can see the difference in my arms and legs (but not so much in my stomach) and my boobs have shrunk a bit I'm getting people telling me not to lose too much weight and 'a little bit of what you fancy does you good'...

I am 5ft 9 (or near as damn it), and my arms have never really been fat. In fact, I've had to rebuild muscle there...but apart from the fact that I weigh nearly 15 st., I have a gulp nearly 45 inch waistline. (I'm losing it from the sides first, it seems.)

ReallyNeedToLoseWeightNow · 02/06/2025 22:38

Today I’ve had a slimfast shake for breakfast, 2 squares and a packet of snack a jacks for lunch/snack as we ended up going to the cinema (much better than the usual popcorn and fizzy drink!!) and then for tea I had pan fried basa with roast potatoes, green beans and peas and some grapes, strawberries and a strawberry mousse for dessert which was all less calories than yesterday 😁 Drinks were dilute Vimto and water again and I did 19 minutes of exercise which was a dance workout and cool down stretch on YouTube again and my Fitbit said that I burnt 254 calories doing that. Another successful day complete!! 😊

TwitchyNibbles · 02/06/2025 22:57

Well done on your days everyone
B - Toast and peanut butter (1 slice)
L - Chicken salad tortilla (homemade) and oats/Skyr yoghurt with fruit
D - Left over small portion chilli from yesterday with big side of salad and 2 small air-fried potatoes

Finished on 1400 calories for the day and 8K steps but today's my long day at work so didn't have time to add any more. Tomorrow I have a 30 minute complimentary session with one of the new trainers at the gym and will be doing the school run which always ups my steps massively.
