Following on from ☀️LOSE IT! May 2025☀️

⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Here comes summer!

It’s never too late to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body.

To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost just around 45lbs. After having been on the wrong side of 12st, the last time I weighed I was hovering around 9st 2lbs. I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! Come summer you’ll be pleased you did 😊

Beloved long timers it would be great for you to keep going❤️

I'm definitely going to have to woman up re: sweaty gym equipment.

On the plus side, I've just checked my weight on the NHS BMI app and it seems that I am now just out of the "obese" category - a smidgen below a BMI of 30, now - so am now in the "overweight" category.

Unfortunately for me, most of said weight appears to be on my stomach.

Whatveudone4melately · 30/06/2025 16:09

Well done @WearyAuldWumman i started off on my weight loss journey with a BMI of around 32.

I was delighted when I edged out of obese into the overweight zone where I still am - but closer to a BMI 25 than 30 now.

A lot of my weight sits on my stomach too, but it’s encouraged me to cut back on cakes and takeaways.

Yes, cakes and takewaways were my downfall.

@WearyAuldWumman I admire your commitment and determination.

@Fellsbellsthats awesome!

hmmm what are my positives this month? Not sure there are any except in the last 2 weeks since finding out I’m pre-diabetic I have drastically cut my carb and sugar intake. My weight is up but I’m bunged up and have been drinking a lot of water and it’s very hot so I’m hoping it’s water retention that will go. My little icons on happy scale are all green instead of red so the overall trend is down. I’m eating more healthily in general although struggling with what to eat, getting overwhelmed and just eating seeds and babybels which isn’t great. My exercise is still up there at an average of 50 miles per week of walking. I’ve still not got round to doing weights and I really should be lack the capacity at the moment.

Here’s to July being a great month for us all.

frostedshreddie · 01/07/2025 06:49

I did an early weigh in, to see where I'm finishing June at.
Couldn't believe the scale tbh, as I am 2.6lb down (since last week).
I had to weigh twice. This can only be due to starting the IF as calorie wise I have still been eating the same 15-1600 and my exercise has slowed down massively with this heat. So this means total loss for June is 3.6 lb.

SW: 10 st 8.0 (1st April)
CW: 10st 1.8
GW: 9 st 7.0

Well done everyone. Good idea to list positives for the month. Mine is starting IF as I did gain in the middle of the month and was starting to lose motivation. However the IF has really given me a boost and I find it so far to be very sustainable. See you all on the July thread.

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 01/07/2025 07:37

Not read all the posts yet - will go onto the last few in minute, but for the fasters among us, I've listened to something by Dr Mindy Pelz on YouTube last night that said genetically from our hunter gatherer ancestry, we need to vary our fasts as they never knew when they'd get the next meal. So don't get into a pattern of 16:8 or OMAD and just do that. She said to do 13 hour, 18 hours, OMAD, 24 hours and no fasting all mixed in. Now I don't think at week 3 I really need to worry about that as for me at the moment it's restricting all the snacking/extra calories, but worth keeping in mind if you hit a plateau

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 01/07/2025 07:44

My positives are making a start and putting on the breaks to a very unhealthy lifestyle for lets be honest the last 3 years - a lot of stress, but really my eating habits and lack of self care was just compounding it all, so I'm hopeful of taking more care of myself. See you over on the July thread for WOW

frostedshreddie · 01/07/2025 08:10

That's really interesting @BlueOysterCultGroupieand makes perfect sense too. I am going to have a listen whilst driving to work today.

Positives from this month are:-
I have run three times a week.
I haven’t binge eaten or gone totally off the rails.
I’ve averaged a slightly lower weight for June than May.
I have maintained pretty much the same healthy weight since April and not yo-yoed, dramatically which I tend to do. Rapid loss and rapid gain are not my friend!
I am more accepting of my body as it is. Losing the last half a stone will not suddenly make me happy or solve my problems.
I have bought nice new underwear in my current size.
I do not need to feel the urge to constantly make myself smaller. I am a healthy weight and that is enough.

Congratulations on your awesome progress … new undies is well deserved! 👏

You are on to something @BlueOysterCultGroupie I was listening to one of the ZOE research podcasts (all free and worth a listen). One of the guest doctors they had on (forgotten her name) swore by a once a week 36 hour fast for general health, wellbeing and to trigger autophagy (old cell clear out and renewal). She fasted Sunday night through to Tuesday morning - I’ve been trying to work up to that and I occasionally do OMAD, but I think beyond 26 hours is beyond my comfort zone. I will go look up your suggestion 👍

That’s a great attitude to have. I am not yet a healthy weight on the scales (12 more pounds to go) and I can see my stomach is too fat but I am still trying to be more positive and grateful for my body as I continue losing the rest of the weight.

I watched a video this morning on Instagram from the rugby player Ilona Maher - hope I’ve spelt her name right.

And she was showing herself in gym clothes with a voiceover that said something like “ this is the body of an Olympian athlete, it may not be flawless, perfectly toned or lean but it’s a great body that has achieved a lot”

I am paraphrasing here but that was the gist of it!

She has quite a similar body shape to mine - although i am chubbier - so it was nice to see. She is obviously very healthy and strong so that’s the main thing.

Definitely worth looking into her stuff and she speaks about Dr Jason Fung who worked on the obesity code too @frostedshreddie @TheRealHousewife

Bickybics · 02/07/2025 08:11

I think I fasted a lot last time I lost weight. However I was working and that made it easier.

So this week I have lost nearly half a pound! Not amazing but I’ll take it. I’m on the verge of joining the gym (for the classes) but I need to lose the weight to protect my knee. Which has been better since I’ve started working out at home though. I know a stone off will change everything for me though.

WearyAuldWumman · 02/07/2025 12:58

Well.. according to two out three weigh-ins today, I've lost half a pound.

I'm having knickers issues. I've already chucked out all my size 20 knickers, but now the size 18 knickers are slipping. I suspect that this is because I stretched them out previously.

My size 20 jeans are all too big for me, but there's no way I'll get into size 18 jeans. I'm currently mainly wearing size 20 leggings which stay on without slipping down and keep my knickers up for me.

I need to wear a dress for a wedding next month. Maybe new size 18 knickers will solve the slippage problem? I do tend to wear granny pants but currently they're practically up to my boobs. No, my boobs haven't slipped that far, though I swear that the mammogram hasn't helped the shape any...

Maybe I can poke a hole in the top of the knickers, insert string and loop it round my neck.

I should possibly purchase a pack of size 16 and see how I get on. Decisions, decisions.

Great update @WearyAuldWumman 👍. Your knickers chat made me giggle 🤭. I swear by these Sloggi Short Style Briefs A bit pricy but super comfy. Keep their shape and wash very well. I have them in white and black.

Oh I'd forgotten about Sloggis! I recall them from my younger days. Shall try those.

Very pleasantly surprised. I was convinced the best case scenario was maintenance but I found myself unexpectedly in the Boots I weigh at so had to jump onto the scales and was pleasantly surprised.

Start 14/5- 14 stone exactly
4/6 - 13st8lb
25/6- 13st4lb
16/7- 13st 2lb

shufflestep · 17/07/2025 09:49

Well I've had a horrible tummy bug this week, but it has let me get to 68kg this morning, which is 15kg lost since New Year - I can't quite believe I've done so much, only 3kg left to go!
