⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Here comes summer!

It’s never too late to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body.

To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost just around 45lbs. After having been on the wrong side of 12st, the last time I weighed I was hovering around 9st 2lbs. I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! Come summer you’ll be pleased you did 😊

Beloved long timers it would be great for you to keep going❤️

Hospital yesterday. Got the all clear.

Walked 3 and a half miles back to bus station and stopped at a pub for fish and chips plus a rum and coke en route.

Gym this morning. Not many reps - increased weights.

4kg for side raises; 25 for lats and triceps.

6kg for obliques.

Consultant urged me not to touch Mounjaro. He’s had a rise in referrals - women who have lost Extreme weight rapidly and have been left (according to him) with ‘breasts like bags of marbles’.

I’ve not heard of THAT side effect.

He told me that the best thing for a woman of my years is weight training and to concentrate on the legs.

Oof it's hot and muggy! I went for a run though which I'm pleased about! Salmon and scrambled egg on a protein bagel with rocket, spring onion and tomatoes for brunch. Out later so won't eat anything else until then and will have some wine to wash it down with. Probably over my calories but I've done a lot of exercise so I think it's ok for a Friday!

TheWayTheLightFalls · 20/06/2025 13:01

That's a very vivid description from the consultant @WearyAuldWumman Grin. Memorable! Brilliant news on your all clear.

All ok here but just so hot. Weight up this morning but understandably, as I was out for dinner yesterday, eating more and later than I would otherwise. Today was homemade dan-dan noodles for lunch, and now an ice coffee with a very small slice of cake made by my three year olds. Not sure about dinner.

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 20/06/2025 14:41

Hi all, just checking in. Sounds like a good day @WearyAuldWumman and interesting not to recommend WLI which is definitely the buzz thing of the moment.

Still hot and tomorrow meant to be the same/worse but some relief on Sunday.

I also have things just fall into my mouth and that's a habit that needs to change...though nothing inherently wrong with a bacon sandwich.

Fellsbells · 20/06/2025 15:30

@WearyAuldWumman great news you got the all clear at the hospital. Not very impressed with the doctor’s description of women’s breasts

Same.

I’m not on WLI nor would I ever take them but I feel his reasons for not recommending them sound a bit superficial and misogynistic.

Reminded me of a guy I was dating. I mentioned a friend of mine had turned her life around post divorce by losing 4 stone for health reasons through walking and doing OMAD and how she was simply thriving and glowing from the inside now.

And he said “yikes does that mean she has really saggy boobs now ?” It was the last time I saw him thankfully.

Thanks.

Yes...it was rather misogynistic.

The lump that I felt was - as I had hoped - something that has probably been there for a while, but I became aware of it because I've dropped at least a cup size and I can feel it now though I was unaware of it before.

To be honest, I was so relieved that - even if he'd specifically described my breasts in those terms, I don't think I would have cared.

Good job female doctors don't give similar descriptions of older men's testicles!

Edited

I actually thought of trying them, but decided against it when I read about the side effects. Suffice to say that I already have a lactose intolerance and don't need to add to my woes.

I've had a quick Google and I did find: "Weight loss can sometimes be associated with shifts in hormone levels, which might influence the glandular tissue in the breasts."

I'm wondering whether that's what he was referring to.

LegoTherapy · 20/06/2025 18:44

@WearyAuldWummanfantastic news! You must be so relieved!

I made a vegetable risotto tonight (finally) and it was bloody lovely. I’ve only made risotto twice before. I went without a recipe.

25g butter
25g arborio rice
50g asparagus
50g peas
25g broad beans
1/4 kallo vegetable stock cube made up with boiling water to about 2/3 of a mug full
30ml Sauvignon blanc

Boil the broad beans for a few minutes and shell them. Then melt the butter and add the washed rice. Let it cook until it starts to absorb the butter. Add a little stock and stir while it absorbs. When almost absorbed add more stock and keep doing this with small amounts until they absorb. Get bored and add the wine and vegetables. Simmer and stir until the fluid is 99.9% gone and enjoy. I’ve not enjoyed anything so good in ages and it was very filling.
I once made a hairy bikers risotto with cheese and the cheese ruined it in my opinion. I’m feeling very pleased with myself over this virtuous cooking. My total carbs for today are 150 thanks to a rushed lunch of breadsticks and hummus but still around 100 less than normal.
42 miles walked so far this week and plenty of walking about planned for the weekend as we are away. Of course being away means poor choice of food but I’ll make reductions where I can. Like having my ice cream in a tin instead of a cone maybe. Or not having a flake. Maybe🤣

I get what the breast consultant was meaning but not a great way of putting it to say the least!

Thank you for the hugs @LegoTherapy it was a week where TLC has been appreciated!

Glad to hear you got the all clear @WearyAuldWumman What a tense time for you. As an aside, I’m thrilled to hear that losing weight at a slower rate might allowed me to keep my currently very decent boobs 😂 I have a friend who very quietly and successfully lost 3 stone over winter, without injections. She looks incredible, and I have been very inspired.

It is bloody hot here. Still 28C at nearly 7pm. I never thought I was a person who was put off food by hot weather, but I have just handed the remaining half of my magnum to DH. Can’t be bothered with it. Maybe last week’s gain will vanish this week in the heat. I certainly haven’t been walking it off the last few days 🥵

Thank you @LegoTherapy and @LemonDrizzle23 .

The risotto sounds wonderful, @LegoTherapy .

I had very lopsided boobs when I was a teenager, @LemonDrizzle23 A bra fitter actually told me to stuff one side with cotton wool when I was 19.

One time at the gym, I thought that I gone back to that as a result of weight loss, but then realised that the modesty inserts on my cheap Asda's bra had both migrated to the left-hand side. I now have to grasp and rearrange the inserts every time I wash it. One is still bigger than the other, but not as noticeably as when I were a lass.

When I first went to see my GP about the lump, I heard myself saying "It had to be the bigger of the two!"

I then compounded this by saying "If there are any bruises or fingerprints they're mine - I keep poking it to check whether the lump is still there."

Fortunately, my GP is used to me. She just laughed and said "Oh, I was the same when I found a lump one time. My husband had to tell me to leave it alone."

LemonDrizzle23 · 21/06/2025 07:09

@WearyAuldWumman I have a swimming costume that does the same thing! Drives me mad. Will never buy something with “removable pads” again, as they constantly remove themselves!

Well I have reached a new low of 14st 5 this morning. The heat is somehow working in my favour. Very close to being 20lbs down now. Have a good weekend everyone!

LegoTherapy · 21/06/2025 07:29

Morning all. A small uptick this morning in grams but still 8st 13lb so I’m not grumbling and I blame the extra carbs. We are off exploring for the weekend and I expect Monday scales will show the 9s. I’m planning on halloumi fries again if we go to Wetherspoons (Dd loves the pizza and chips. I used to but have gone off it). I’ll be having a Starbucks and possibly bubble tea and ice cream along with pancakes for breakfast tomorrow so next week I’ll be back on plan in fear of Wednesday 🤣
I hope you all have a great weekend.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 21/06/2025 07:43

@LegoTherapy I love bubble tea. If you want the "bubble" element but fewer calories the oolong or fruit teas with ice, no sugar + bubbles will give you the same feeling for fewer cals.

Happy weekend all. No special plans here bar hosing down the kids at intervals. Definitely not much cooking planned.

frostedshreddie · 21/06/2025 08:06

Happy weekend people!!
I made a 300calorie breakfast of cherries,Fage and chocolate overnight weetabox, quite nice!!
I intend to get back into exercise tomorrow, the heat has been killing me off. Heading to the park today with the kiddos. Keep going everyone :)

Marshmellowbunny · 21/06/2025 09:22

Morning all,

I can't really remember why I was doing to post but there was definitely a reason 😂

I just walked to the coop and they had chocolate and hazelnut croissants for the first time since I got out of hospital, so I had to have one! It was nice but I know I'm going to regret it.

Going with my partner to a show this evening and will get food there. So I think today is a bit of a write off FFS.

WearyAuldWumman · 21/06/2025 12:32

Weight is up half a pound, but I'll not get over uptight about that.

Was dealing with a wasp problem yesterday...No activity to be heard now, but I'm wondering whether I should use one of those wasp bombs at the bottom of my (inactive chimney). I don't think anyone round here has a coal fire now. For years, we all had gas fires, but they were all condemned and most people replaced them with an electric fire.

Saw a wasp in the living room and ushered it out of the window. Then I saw another crawling out from behind the fireplace...

Ushered it out and then grabbed a can of "Wasp and Flying InsectKiller" and scooshed it up the chimney. Covered the hole. (It was blocked up before I moved in, but an air vent was left and the chimney is capped, with one of those ventilated tops.

Heard a bit of buzzing and then it stopped. Scooshed again several times. No activity since then.

I hadn't heard any buzzing previously, so I'm hoping that these were just scouts...Will scoosh up ever so often for a while, however, to make sure.

It happened in the middle of the day and I wasn't suddenly surrounded by a swarm.

I've dealt with wasp nests before, but only in the garden shed and I've always managed to get it while it's been a work in progress with only the Queen.

A neighbour down the street had bees in his chimney last week...These definitely weren't bees. Too skinny.

So yesterday's cardio and weightlifting consisted of hauling out the fireplace and running around trying to find the wasp killer.

Spudulica17 · 21/06/2025 19:25

Hi can I join? Going on holiday in 6 weeks and currently 10 stone 4 at 5 ft 2. Started my fitness pal yesterday which has helped me in the past but would like to keep accountable too.
id like to lose about 6 lbs before I go.

I go to gym a few times a week but doesn’t seem to have stopped me putting on about 6 lbs in past few months 😩
none of my clothes fit so it’s definitely time for action

LegoTherapy · 21/06/2025 19:40

@WearyAuldWumman I misread that as intimate chimney 😳

Raindancer411 · 22/06/2025 07:50

Hi all, I am new to this. I am 5ft 2 and weigh 134.4lbs. I have done calorie counting before but I end up feeling awful on it for some reason, so end up having to have something extra to make myself feel ok.

This time I want to do the 16:8 but thinking I need to start on 12:12 as after only one day, the following morning I felt lightheaded and generally off.

Any suggestions on how to lose weight that works with just walking as exercise, I am not a gym person and with young kids, not an option. I want to get down to my old weight of 8st 2 (114lbs)

LegoTherapy · 22/06/2025 09:00

@Raindancer411welcome! How old are your children? Can you add walking into your daily activities? I walk my ds to school each day and there and back twice is 5 miles. I then walk to my mum’s because I am her carer. So I’m doing around 50 miles per week and we live in a hilly area. I think 12:12 is fine and more how people used to eat before snacking.

I ate far too much yesterday:
porridge for breakfast
few sweets on the train
a scone
an ice cream
halloumi fries
nachos

missed out on the Starbucks and bubble tea though and we did walk about 10 miles with half of that on the beach.

LegoTherapy · 22/06/2025 09:15

@Raindancer411 just remembered: do you have a birth ball/gym ball? I got mine back out a few years ago to sit on and bounce whilst watching tv in the evening. Each bounce is counted as a step by my Fitbit and watching Happy Valley clocked up a large number of steps. A few thousand. So extra walking without the walking 😁

WearyAuldWumman · 22/06/2025 11:18

Up one pound, but I'm not surprised: I broke my diet over the last 3 days. Back to the calorie counting.

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 22/06/2025 18:57

Hi all, just thought I'd check in after my first week. I've cut from starting my day at 7AM with a hot chocolate to snacking into the evening to 16 hour fast and 8 hour eating window without too much fuss (so far)

I will WOW with you on Wednesday to see what's going on with the scales. For a NSV I'm hoping to get my rings back on my finger where they belong. They used to be slightly loose if anything Blush

Bought some quinoa today to have with my salad instead of cous cous and I really didn't like it, but will give it time. I ate it quite a bit last time round.

Wishing you all a good week.
