Following on from ☀️LOSE IT! May 2025☀️

⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Here comes summer!

It’s never too late to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body.

To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost just around 45lbs. After having been on the wrong side of 12st, the last time I weighed I was hovering around 9st 2lbs. I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! Come summer you’ll be pleased you did 😊

Beloved long timers it would be great for you to keep going❤️

I’ve started exercising, just walking and the bike. I am going to join the gym, for classes to start with.
Im not really eating my calories just now, I always struggle with this when I start dieting.
I know before it stopped me losing weight. But I need to find the right things to add in rather than junk.

LemonDrizzle23 · 22/06/2025 20:03

My dad cooked a roast today and I think I might have eaten about 2000 calories in belly pork, crackling and roast potatoes alone 😬

Between that, and having friends over yesterday, I think I shall ignore the scales until WOW!

I hope you all survived the heat - it has cooled down significantly here today.

RedRobyn24 · 22/06/2025 20:35

Have woken up today and decided I need to lose some weight, I haven’t been on a diet since 2019 when I did slimming world, I was almost 13 stone and lost 1.5 stones which I was fairly happy with. Unfortunately in the last 2 years between the stress of trying to conceive where I gained a stone and then pregnancy when I gained another half a stone… I am now back to 13 stone again 🫣

I just want my BMI in the healthy range again

I am going to take over the morning dog walk so that I’m walking the dog twice a day rather than just once. When it comes to food I find having rules so much easier so I think I may loosely follow slimming world “rules”

I’ve also charged and put on my Fitbit so I can keep track of my steps

i just hope to see results by the time i weigh myself again next week

I'm absolutely knackered, up in the night with my 6 month old baby (and my 4 year old child!!) but I just feel now is the time to do something

TheWayTheLightFalls · 23/06/2025 06:55

Morning. Very glad of the cooler weather here today, though I am sitting with my coffee at the open garden door still.

Two days of higher weigh ins (period, using a meal prep service that had higher calorie portions than I had planned for, a complete brain melt in the face of the hot weather), but weighed this morning and just under goal again. Managed to dodge the snacks at a kids’ party yesterday, and luckily booze doesn’t appeal so that was easy. Today should be two meals, one mid morning one afternoon, likely a less-healthy snack like a kitkat, and then lots of apples and black coffee.

@RedRobyn24 welcome! I have to say, exercise etc is good for so many things but I don’t think it’s helpful for weight loss. It’s all about what you eat ime.

Orangetree42 · 23/06/2025 07:55

Hi all, I haven’t posted very much as I was really struggling with the weight not moving at all despite sticking to a calorie deficit! Was feeling very down and frustrated but I kept going and thankfully it’s started moving downwards again. It was a 3 week plateau but what I actually think was happening was kind of a muscle and fat redistribution. The number in the scales didn’t change but my clothes fit better and I feel better so that helped motivate me. I started at 11st 12lbs about 9 weeks ago and am now 11 3 firmly. I’m very much looking forward to getting into the 10 stone range. I’m away to Spain tomorrow and I’m going to try to be fairly sensible as I know if I’m not it’ll all pile back on and it was hard won! So swimming and walking lots every day and sensible light food in the day so I can enjoy a nice dinner in the evening :) should be easy as I don’t actually get that hungry in the heat. Alcohol will be the biggest challenge as it really sabotages me so going to try to limit it as much as I can. I’ve cut down so much and I’m amazed that I don’t really miss it and feeling much better without it! Thanks to everyone on the thread for sharing their progress and keeping me motivated.

Coming up to the end of June and I've only been weighing myself this month and it's not changed overall, fluctuated in rhythm with my period, now I'm going to start using myfitnesspall. It's calculated my target as I've logged everything including my planned dinner and still have 593kal. But I don't know if 1720 is right for me.

LegoTherapy · 22/06/2025 09:00

@Raindancer411welcome! How old are your children? Can you add walking into your daily activities? I walk my ds to school each day and there and back twice is 5 miles. I then walk to my mum’s because I am her carer. So I’m doing around 50 miles per week and we live in a hilly area. I think 12:12 is fine and more how people used to eat before snacking.

I ate far too much yesterday:
porridge for breakfast
few sweets on the train
a scone
an ice cream
halloumi fries
nachos

missed out on the Starbucks and bubble tea though and we did walk about 10 miles with half of that on the beach.

@LegoTherapyOne is in secondary and the youngest Year R. I do walk her to school every day but it’s literally around the corner 😂 I try to walk down to the local shops which is about half a mile away. Everything for me is so close, I just need to try to go for a general walk among the housework in school hours 😂

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 23/06/2025 19:42

Hi all I snuck a quick weigh in in this morning - shouldn't have bothered because the scales are up not down but my period about to start and thankfully I've seen some stuff around water weight vs fat loss - don't know how much truth is in it, but I'm going to just stick with it because if nothing else I'm improving my health and stopping it from getting more out of control.

About to go make myself a cup of tea because I feel like I want to snack but my IF window is firmly shut.

frostedshreddie · 24/06/2025 06:37

Morning All

Hope all doing well
I am interested in the If, what fasting windows does everyone do again? Do you ever get headaches when fasting?

I have had a busy couple of days but eaten really well and within my calories. Haven't got back into exercise each day yet but I have a day at home with the kiddos today so going to do something on YouTube when they are playing. Also WFH all week this week so should be able to do a lunchtime walk weds/Thurs & Friday.

Morning. Mine really vary, 12h to 16 or more even (rarely). Normal for me is 6pm through 10am (early dinner, late breakfast). Ime if you are getting headaches you need to significantly increase your water intake and possibly salts.

And that’s my plan for this morning Grin. Had a coffee, off to work, will have a meal around 10/10.30am when I have my first break.

LegoTherapy · 24/06/2025 07:33

Morning all. The carbs of the weekend are still showing on the scales so tomorrow might not be good. It usually takes the best part of a week to go.

I usually do a 12:12 fast or as I think if it-like people used to eat before snacking became such a thing.

LegoTherapy · 24/06/2025 09:03

I was given some chocolate chip cookies for my birthday and they are 360 calories each!!! I ate 2 yesterday 🤦‍♀️and there was leftover take away veggie pizza to eat. I’m back on track today. I logged my weekend food on mfp today and it concluded that if I ate like that every day then I’m 5 weeks I’d be much fatter 🤣 I like mfp for that honesty!

frostedshreddie · 24/06/2025 10:48

Thank you both :) I might give it a go!
I accidentally did a fast last week as was so busy at work and realized I forgot breakfast (this never happens!). This was around 2pm and I was wondering why my head was pounding!! But I didn't actually feel hungry or if it did it passed very quickly. If I do give it a go will focus on hydration to avoid the headaches then!! Is herbal tea allowed?

TheWayTheLightFalls · 24/06/2025 10:57

Yy to herbal tea (no sugar, milk, sweetener).

LemonDrizzle23 · 24/06/2025 13:52

7km walk done today. Once again the sun managed to catch me out - I left in a jumper while it was overcast, and 5mins later blinding sunshine for the whole walk 🤦🏼‍♀️ I just need to start putting spf on my face every day throughout the summer I think! Have popped some aftersun on, and am crossing my fingers I don’t look like a lobster by the school run…

WearyAuldWumman · 24/06/2025 20:04

Ate more over the weekend and Monday, but my weight doesn't seem to have suffered overall.

Held up by the roofer coming to clear the guttering, so just did a bit at the gym.

Offered the roofer DH's old roof ladder - I keep catching the garage door on it and I'm never going to use it. There were various comedy moments as I climbed over the clutter in the garage to reach the far end of said ladder.

5 min HIIT walking. Tried putting up the weight for the leg extension and leg curl. Managed more of the leg curl. Was aware of strain on the knees for the leg extension, so didn't push it.

Got up to 35kg for the low row, took me all my time to manage the 3rd set of 10. Didn't even attempt the leg press today!

Cornflakes for breakfast; lentil soup plus cheese & onion toastie with salad for lunch; two egg omelette with small amount of cheddar for dinner. Drinks: coffee with oatmilk, an oatmilk latte and chamomile tea.

Raindancer411 · 24/06/2025 21:56

I managed to go from 6pm until 9:30am before I had my breakfast. I was told not always to go via weight alone, but to also take measurements and be guided by those too. Anyone confirm?

socks1107 · 24/06/2025 21:58

I am dreading WOW. I’ve stuck religiously to calories but the scale is bouncing up and down. Fear I’ve hit a stall and whatever now despite really doing all I should I won’t make my target for holiday in two weeks which is just disheartening after six months of being so accountable and good. I am 5lb out and feel rubbish about myself.

ive stayed off the chat as I was getting so so angry with myself and my stupid fat tummy. A break from here has given me a mental rest but I will weigh tomorrow and I will log it

WearyAuldWumman · 24/06/2025 22:09

I had a pair of trousers that I couldn't get into at a specific weight. Once I started weight training, I reached the same weight, but could get into the trousers, so my waist and stomach had definitely gone down in size.

LegoTherapy · 24/06/2025 22:17

I’ve not stuck to my carbs today and ds is off sick so I’ve not done much walking. Not feeling happy with myself at all. I made my risotto for dinner tonight which was fine, it’s the crisps and 4 biscuits I ate over the day that’s the issue. Calories could be better but not bad. I’ve still hit over 15,000 steps and was carrying a big rucksack of food shopping plus a big carrier bag for a fair bit of that so I’ve had some good exercise today.

@socks1107try not to beat yourself up. As long as you are being healthier then that’s what’s the most important thing. I know is disheartening but keep going Flowers

LegoTherapy · 24/06/2025 23:56

It’s one of those nights where I just want to eat lots of crisps. I won’t, but I want to. I’m actually quite hungry but getting anything means getting out of bed and going down 2 floors to the kitchen.

LightGirl · 25/06/2025 01:29

Only -200g this week (nearing my period and had a nice bbq yesterday lol)
Feeling much better than a month ago. A little over - 7 kg lost in total! People actually start noticing changes :) I am happy. Lets do better next week!

EasternEcho · 25/06/2025 04:41

Good morning everyone,

My weigh in today is 161.6 lbs, that's down almost 3 lbs from last weigh in. It's still relatively fast at this point, as prior to this I was binge eating thousands of calories a night I think, which I've cut out entirely! But I have reached this number before, and it is around here that I plateau and give up. So this time, I must be prepare myself to be mindful and stick to the plan no matter what the scale says.

I hope everyone is doing well. Look forward to reading all the updates.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 25/06/2025 06:13

Morning everyone. Another boring maintenance post - still just under goal, 74.7kg. Nothing much else to say really!

@LegoTherapy I have learnt the hard way not to have crisps in the house, otherwise they will end up in my mouth after the kids’ bedtime.

2in2022twoyearson · 25/06/2025 06:16

Wow,
3 weeks in... Maybe I've stopped myself gaining weight as I've been doing over the past year. This week I started calories counting for myfitnesspal, but went over my target both days.
