Well day 27 here and still no period, my cycles have been 21 days for the last year (thank you perimenopause). I’m not sure what’s going on. Maybe weight loss is affecting them. I’d quite like them to be more spaced out, feels like I’m barely getting a break these days but maybe it’s the beginning of them getting more sparse. I’ve been holding off weighing myself in case I’m full of retained water. I’ll do it tomorrow if still no sign.

well done on the weight losses and the plodding on, January is nearly over! @HorrorFan81 great work on the impressive loss.

im going to get out for a run this morning and will do some yoga later.

Dashel · 25/01/2025 08:13

@HorrorFan81 that’s fantastic 😊

@bigdecisionstomake congrats on your loss and fingers crossed for the fours next week.

@RestingLettice the weather really was vile. I would love a rowing machine but it would probably just gather dust along with the cross trainer and spin bikes. I hope your joints feel better today.

I stayed the same this morning after a carby dinner so pleased with that. I managed 11k steps without leaving the house. We have friends round tonight so I’m sat here trying to work out what to cook that’s nice enough for guests but not too nice 😂

DuckWithOneWing · 25/01/2025 08:23

I'm ill at the moment and have barely left the sofa all day yesterday. I'm surprised I managed to get nearly 3000 steps! I intended to go to the gym this morning but cancelled it as I'm still not feeling great.

Fibrous · 25/01/2025 08:34

So many bugs going around. I have had two or three cold/cough bugs already this winter. I kept getting texts from the nhs to book my flu jab but I was trying to time it for when I wasn't already sick. Finally managed to get it a couple of weeks ago. Going to get it as soon as they message me next winter.

Littlemissweepy · 25/01/2025 08:35

Also @bigdecisionstomake thats a great weekly loss too! I think we’re have similar starting and goal weights.

NahThen · 25/01/2025 08:55

Hi everyone! Late to joining but in desperate need of the support, thanks @bigdecisionstomake for pointing me in the direction from the Lose Weight for Christmas thread, hello to@Dashel from there too!

I've really struggled to get back to healthy eating since Christmas- there's still a lot of snacks/treats food around and I've fallen into unhealthy habits- namely chocolate after lunch and then even more after a generally indulgent dinner and a lack of vegetables. The last one surprises me because I actually love veg!

I've tracked the last two days on mfp and usually just aim for some sort of calorie deficit. I know I haven't been quite as accurate as I need to be but getting back into it is tough! Trying to remember my "old" ways/tricks but blinded by cheese and chocolate cravings..

You're all doing so well and are making me want to buy a step counter of some sort. I have a long term health condition that makes exercise a bit tricky sometimes and impossible at others but I'd like to end 2025 a bit fitter/stronger if I can.

I don't have a huge amount to lose but really don't want to gain back the several stones I've lost!
Starting weight: 9st13lb
Goal weight: 9st5lb

Scarecrow2016 · 26/01/2025 08:03

Hi, I'm going to have to increase calories today as I'm feeling really wobbly and famished. Calories over the last 4 days have been 819, 1015, 1035, 1165.

It's too low for me if it's affecting my energy so drastically. I'm a real novice with calorie counting- how does anyone function on 800 calories a day?

chalkyc2 · 26/01/2025 08:46

@Scarecrow2016 - Have you looked at the Fast 800? The premise of that is (obviously!) a period of time where you have 800 calories (give or take) a day - HOWEVER you are able to add as much green veg/ veg off a list that you can reasonably consume. I have the paid for app but the books have meal plans and are cleverly focused around filling you up as much as possible with protein and not wasting calories on bread/pasta etc. I would recommend, I don't actually count calories - I just follow the recipe's broadly. I do actually have a couple of tea/coffees with milk which is not recommended and take me over, but actually makes it bearable!

RestingLettice · 26/01/2025 08:50

@Scarecrow2016 I wouldn't manage it any lower than I'm doing now. I've been on 1150-1200 the last two weeks and feel ok at the moment but will increase if I start feeling wobbly/too tired. I do take multivitamins on top. But I agree it's really important to listen to our bodies too as we're all so different. What works for one, may not work for another. Age, lifestyle, hormones or medical conditions can really affect things. Good to stay motivated, but it's important to be sensible too.

Scarecrow2016 · 26/01/2025 09:07

@chalkyc2 thanks. I keep hearing about the Fast800 - I've always steered clear of diets but I think I need more knowledge on what I'm doing so will read up. I've been eating 2 bowls of porridge with fruit a day, with third meal being a mix of avacado, mackerel, greens, poached eggs. Snacking on celery and raw carrot - which is soul destroying😂 When I write that back it's clearly not a great diet.

@RestingLettice Great name! I'm going to eat normally today as I feel my body needs it.

Thanks both.

chalkyc2 · 26/01/2025 09:20

@Scarecrow2016 - Honestly the fast 800 is the only thing that has ever worked for me. I lost 50kg and it is a way of eating as much as a diet - you start brutal on 800 - then move to 5/2 (800 2 days a week) then a maintenance model. I failed on the maintenance!! However - now easy to revert back to.

The app has a plan for today which is Greek yogurt, strawberries and nuts at 250 cal, a lunch of smoked salmon and egg salad at 310 and dinner of chicken burgers at 380. A bit over 800 and you then add a load of vegetables.

If you are normal BMI you would only do this for 2 weeks and then go to 5:2 - the 5 days have you at more like 1400 cals I think. But same types of food - just more.

Scarecrow2016 · 26/01/2025 09:24

@chalkyc2
That's super helpful. Thanks.

HorrorFan81 · 26/01/2025 10:57

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! I was out for dinner on Friday but managed to keep on plan, the restaurant chain Pho has some great low carb high protein options
Yesterday was a long boozy day in London so definitely off plan! Food wasn't too bad (bunless burger with a few curly fries, some tapas later - mostly meat and veg) but the cocktails, gin and wine definitely took me over 🤣 Did do 22000 steps though
Birthday celebrations continue today, heading out for Sunday lunch later and might even have a dessert, in lieu of cake (told my husband not to bother getting me one)

Back on Fast 800 Keto tomorrow 💪

RestingLettice · 26/01/2025 11:16

@HorrorFan81 Pho or Wagamamas do have some great low calorie options if eating out. I always steer my husband towards those when we’re popping out to eat and I’m dieting.

Yes agreed! Nandos pretty good too, can just have chicken and broccoli or salad

RestingLettice · 26/01/2025 11:54

Another rubbish weather day today so no walk for me. Very wet & windy. However I did get out on Friday in the end as it was fine here, I’m down south. Yesterday I was under steps too though as I had to drive my daughter back to Uni so spent 5 hours total in the car. Hopefully come Monday I can get back out on my walking circuit.

NahThen · 26/01/2025 14:02

I've learned a lot about fast 800 reading this thread! Didn't know about the "unlimited" veg bit, that makes it sound slightly more doable.

Hope you feel better for upping your cals a bit @Scarecrow2016- have you noticed changes in your appetite in different parts of your cycle? I find a have the usual few days of being absolutely ravenous as well as times when I find it quite easy to stick to a deficit. I try not to completely give in on the hungry days but do go more for maintenance cals than a deficit. Still 'in control' but giving my body what it feels it needs.

@Fibrous my cycle has gone haywire too, was sure I was due on any day now (foul mood and above mentioned ravenous days) but no sign! I was finding daily weighing killing my motivation this week so have stepped away- need to decide on an official weigh day..

Also out for Sunday lunch today so I've just had fruit & yoghurt.. I'll try to make sensible choices and track it but realistically it's an unknown isn't it! Happy birthday @HorrorFan81 your boozy day in London sounds like heaven!

nodtik · 26/01/2025 16:33

Today I've felt a bit better and have managed to do some walking. Tomorrow I'm not able to go to my usual selection of gym classes, but I'm not sure I feel up to it anyway. I have managed to stay within my calories today though so that's good.

nodtik · 26/01/2025 20:10

@DuckWithOneWing

Well done!!

Keep it up xx

nodtik · 27/01/2025 06:07

Theemperorsnewshoes · 27/01/2025 06:36

Well done @nodtik !

I’m still here but not weighing because I’m still really constipated! Hopefully I’ll have emerge like a beautiful butterfly once I’ve had a clear out 😂

Scarecrow2016 · 27/01/2025 07:19

@NahThen
I'm newly into menopause and on HRT - all new to me and I'm getting used to it - so hormones affect me but differently to my cycle iukwim.

Weighted in at 9st 13lbs 8oz this am. Its been a few years since I've seen a 9 on the scales so this has given me a boost. Especially since I relaxed on carbs yesterday.

Scarecrow2016 · 27/01/2025 07:20

Typo there I weighted in at 9st 13lbs 8oz.
