I always struggle with the protein goal as I'm vegetarian. I try to up it with a bit more quorn and do use pea protein powder in soup sometimes but it's hard even though I do eat quite a lot of lentils and pulses. I'm coping ok with 1200 calories at the moment. Hoping to get out for my usual 4 mile loop once the rain has passed. Luckily I live in a hilly town so it's a bit of a workout in places. Hoping to get swimming again in the next few weeks but my costume might be a little snug at the moment!!

NewMe16012025 · 23/01/2025 13:39

Well done to all the losses, healthy eating and excersising.

I've weighed and as I thought I've not lost on my first week but I'm not feeling disheartened as I'm learning lots about what foods are good for you. I'm also thinking maybe I've got a bit more muscle as I've been excersising which I haven't in ages.

I've just had a tin of tuna in springwater with light mayo and sweetcorn. I've tried to do a comparison with tuna in sunflower oil with no mayo and sweetcorn on MyFitnessPal. The nutrition values seem to coming out almost the same. That's if I'm doing it correctly.

What are other's preferences on eating tuna? It is a good source of protein.

@RestingLettice I agree the hills definitely give you a workout. I'm also the same, as I want to start swimming again. Maybe next week.

RestingLettice · 23/01/2025 15:06

Just got out for my walking circuit between the rain storms luckily. Tomorrow I'll probably do some stepping/yoga at home as the wind/weather looks a bit dodgy. Don't want to get hit by a branch as there's a lot of trees around my area! Roll on Springtime I say!

@bigdecisionstomake

Thank you for your kind words!!!

How has everyone got on today?

11 365 steps - just done an hour on the walking pad due to a day in meetings and few opportunities to move.

76 mins in total of exercise

Calories, not as great - 1506 oops!

I have been looking at walking pads. Which one do you have? Normally I love walking outdoors, but not in freezing weather.

nodtik · 23/01/2025 19:49

@lovecafeaulait

This is the walking pad

uk.deerruntreadmill.com/products/deerrun-q1-classic-pro-walking-pad-longer-size-with-remote-control

It's still great!!

Finishing the day;

12535 calories
8945 steps
All three rings closed on my apple watch

Littlemissweepy · 23/01/2025 20:30

@bigdecisionstomake ah thanks!

Focused on protein again and managed 25% protein (vs target MFP gives me of 20%)

Scoop of protein powder in my porridge for breakfast
Lunch part 1 - open toasted sandwich with a cottage cheese based topping
Lunch part 2 - banana and coconut milk smoothie with another scoop of protein powder
Cod curry for dinner from Mindful Chef

Snacks - satsuma, shortbread and 3 after eights

Amounted to 1,749 cals in

GrannyClanger · 23/01/2025 22:45

I’ve had a good day today, stuck to around 1400 calories and I’ve been for a 4 mile run. I’ve been looking back at my MFP history for some inspiration because I am struggling to stick to 1600 calories at the moment, whereas last year I was doing 1200 no problem. Looks like it’s the snacks creeping in! I will probably have to give up biscuits, I find them so hard to resist!! Anyway I’m on track for a 3lb loss over 3 weeks which I’m v happy with.

nodtik · 24/01/2025 06:14

Lots of positive posts on here, where we all are trying to eat less and move more!!

Woke up bloody starving this morning though, which is not good 😨

Will try and fill up on water and avoid snacking.

Out for a quiz tonight which includes a meal. Think I might volunteer to be the designated driver to avoid even more carbs in the wine!!

Good luck everyone else for Friday! X

Dashel · 24/01/2025 06:47

Morning and and TFI Friday!

@nodtik I have been waking up hungry but that does pass pretty quickly when you get distracted unless you mean in the middle of that night. That sucks and is a pain. Hope you enjoyed the quiz.

@GrannyClanger biscuits and anything sugary are a real weakness for me too. I bought a packet of 6 mini breadsticks from M&S and I think it’s 83 calories a pack. It’s no where near as good as biscuit but not moreish so one packet is enough.

@RestingLettice do you have quinoa? You can use it for sweet things as well like porridge or protein balls. That’s great for protein. I eat a lot of chickpeas and tofu and varying beans as well and try and do double protein in an evening meal even if it’s a few nuts as a starter or yoghurt with fruit for pudding.

@bigdecisionstomake sorry about the lack of sleep. I struggle with sleep too but do find a relaxing yoga session just before bed really helps or reading. I also have been doing a lot of walking and not as much other exercise as I should be!

Friday weigh in day 🤓 my starting weight taken on Saturday was 10.st 13.5lb my weight today is 10st 11.1lb so very happy with that. I am sure there will be plenty of water weight in there but I did start on the 1st so not too much.

I have been smashing my steps but only one really active yoga session and two weights sessions which were both a bit of a welcome back gently. I do need to increase these.

The storm is already here so today’s steps will be from Get Fit with Rick as the poor dog will not want to walk in this.

Skipping breakfast has been working ok. I can go till one or two without eating and listening to some of the podcasts has been really motivating.

Have a great day and stay safe in this awful weather

Scarecrow2016 · 24/01/2025 07:34

Hi Everyone. I feel like I'm starting to make progress. Started on 3 Jan at 10st 5lbs 0ozand weighted in today at 10st 0lbs 6oz. I've lost an inch on my waist and hips, and the size 12-14 knickers I bought to accommodate my arse at Xmas are at risk of falling down. I'm also now out of the overweight bmi zone.

But after having an average deficit of about 250 cals I've hit it hard the last couple of days keeping calorie intake between 880 - 1000 . I'm waking up famished tho.

Got a pub meal coming up next week and I'm shocked that meals are about 1370 which is over my daily allowance. How can a meal be that high in calories??! I had no idea. It's good to see everyone's progress. The support is appreciated.

Theemperorsnewshoes · 24/01/2025 08:24

@Scarecrow2016 thats amazing, well done!

Theemperorsnewshoes · 24/01/2025 08:25

I’m still here plodding along. Unfortunately I’m struggling with constipation/trapped wind at the moment which isn’t nice.

HorrorFan81 · 24/01/2025 08:49

Official weigh in day today and I'm down 2llbs since last week, 7lbs since starting Fast 800 Keto 2 weeks ago and 10lbs since Jan 2nd when I went back to my usual low carb after some Christmas indulgence

Currently 151.2lbs
Goal weight 138

Will be coming off plan for the weekend for some birthday meals and cocktails so expect a few lbs of water weight on Monday but will get back on F800K and hopefully get a few more lbs off by early Feb

Health is starting to improve and managing some walks so hopefully back to the gym soon 💪

RestingLettice · 24/01/2025 08:56

@Dashel yes I do eat quinoa and tofu which I do really like. I think some of the problem is I'm a very lazy cook. I hate preparing food/cooking so struggle more when I'm having to think about what I am eating and make more effort. My husband is the keen cook in our house.

@Scarecrow2016 wow! That's amazingly good. Well done!! It's so motivating when you start seeing the weight finally drop off.

Today I'm going to do some yoga and weights at home because of the weather. We've also got an ergo in the garage from when my daughter did rowing at school, so I might start thinking about setting that up again for when it's warmer and I won't freeze out there.

RestingLettice · 24/01/2025 09:14

@HorrorFan81 wow! 10lbs since the beginning of January is amazing!!

@HorrorFan81 wow! 10lbs since the beginning of January is amazing!!

So much of it will be water weight - I am normally low carb but over Xmas pretty much ate anything and also drank a ton of mulled wine 🤣 I puff up so easily with carbs

NewMe16012025 · 24/01/2025 12:13

You have done really well though @HorrorFan81

My first week I've weighed everyday and been either 10.11 or 10.10. I've eaten so heathily but had a few wines though as it's been quite a sociable week.

We are out for a steak tonight so I'll start again tomorrow but won't have any wine.

RestingLettice · 24/01/2025 12:28

@HorrorFan81 it's still a good result though.

Yes I struggle with bloating & inflammation which is easily irritated by this hypermobility EDS thing I have. Today my joint aren't great either which is due to that too, so I'm having a slightly easier day activity wise. It's a bit frustrating!

Ah that's really tough. I've had such bad post flu fatigue since Xmas and it's so frustrating not being able to be active

Hope you pain dies down soon

bigdecisionstomake · 24/01/2025 13:26

Some great results, well done everyone!

@Scarecrow2016 I too am often horrified at the amount of calories in restaurant meals but I think you either take the view it's an occasional treat or you try to do some damage limitation by swapping things like chips/carbs for salad or veg etc... Amazing progress with your weight loss so far though - well done!

Enjoy your quiz tonight @nodtik

I'll try the yoga @Dashel - I need to do something as last night was the worst yet 😩

@HorrorFan81 Enjoy your indulgent weekend and congratulations on progress so far!

Keep plodding @Theemperorsnewshoes consistency is what you need and hopefully the digestive issues will pass shortly!

My Friday weigh in is 10st 5.5lbs so a drop of 2.2lbs. I'm very happy with that although I know the majority is likely water. Would be nice to have a number in the 4s this time next week - fingers crossed.

Theemperorsnewshoes · 24/01/2025 14:24

@HorrorFan81 wow! That’s amazing!

Awesome work, that is so well done!!!

Littlemissweepy · 24/01/2025 23:28

Amazing loss @HorrorFan81 !

Not been the best day. Stuck indoors in Red weather warning zone. Did do weights this morning but since then felt sluggish and hungry all day. Kids school closed and the home schooling Covid flashbacks were real. Over my calories and only managed 5k steps. Only plus is still managed to hit protein macro. Oh and still no booze.

Tomorrow is another day.
