Day finishing on;

12 921 calories
10 000 steps

656 move calories on my apple watch
72 move minutes

Happy with that x

bigdecisionstomake · 21/01/2025 09:48

Great progress @nodtik you're smashing it.

I had a great day yesterday and finished within calories and over 10k steps. I have been rewarded with a drop to 10st 6.6lb on the scales this morning so I'm happy with that.

On the downside I had a really dreadful night's sleep and slept in this morning so didn't have time to workout. Tiredness is a real enemy of mine when it comes to snacking too but I'm going to try my best to stick within calories and squeeze in a walk later if possible.

Yeah tiredness can be a killer, especially when it makes you crave carbs 🙈

I have my food planned out for the day and it will be exact same as yesterday as we had dinner leftovers so should be finishing on 846

Yesterday's lunchtime walk went OK so going to do another today. Hopefully by next week can start reintegrating more activity including strength training

Greentomatoes21 · 21/01/2025 11:15

Love my fitness pal! It's great if you track your weight and can see it going down (ideally!!) on the line graph!

I was 10.8 this morning so another lb down.

I am not doing as low calorie as some seem to be managing. I just feel dreadful if calories incredibly low. So I am aiming for 1300 and hopefully coming in slightly below most days. I am losing on this for now but will reduce it when it gets harder to lose.

I am happily able to fast Mon-Fri until about midday so I think this is helping me! Evenings are much harder for me.

Thanks to the group for the motivation!

I love MFP too, I've been using it since 2012 and seeing the ups and downs is wlld, especially when pregnancy involved.

I'll probably move to 1300-1400 cals once I can be a bit more active- i like Fast 800 Keto for a kick start but it's not for everyone

Scarecrow2016 · 21/01/2025 12:07

Progress is slow here. I'm weighing my food and going over my 1350 target each day. I need 1650 to maintain weight. Although I'm eating better and less since Jan 3rd, I'm not hitting my target. Past two weeks (from 7th Jan) have looked like this (I can't work out whether I'm v slowly losing weight or whether I'm maintaining);
Cal Weight
953
1473 10.2.6
1077 10.3.4
1268 10.2.4
1763 10.2
1262 10.2.6
1883 10.1.4
1260 10.3.4
1224 10.2.8
1384 10.2
1582 10.2.4
1668 10.2
1443 10.2.8
1428 10.2
Today 10.1.6

bigdecisionstomake · 21/01/2025 16:28

@Scarecrow2016 It does look to me as if you are slowly and steadily losing. You haven't see a 3. something number for over a week now. Your deficit looks as if it is averaging between 200 and 250 calories per day and you need a 3500 calorie deficit in total to lose a pound of weight so you should be averaging around half a pound a week of loss, or just under.

I am a daily weigher and it can be frustrating to see the fluctuations but if you stay consistent you will get results in the end. Keep going, you've got this.

RestingLettice · 21/01/2025 17:49

@Scarecrow2016 I agree, although it's slow, it does look like you are definitely losing the weight.

Scarecrow2016 · 21/01/2025 18:11

That's encouraging. Thank you both.

Theemperorsnewshoes · 21/01/2025 18:59

My stupid scale shot up this morning! Up 3lb.

Ah yes I lost quickly on fast 800 keto last year but did end up gaining at least part of it back as I just could not maintain it. But it was a nice change being allowed all the keto stuff, being so different to low calorie! I might do a blast if keto when I start to plateau on low calorie!

nodtik · 21/01/2025 20:12

@bigdecisionstomake

Thank you for your kind words!!!

How has everyone got on today?

11 365 steps - just done an hour on the walking pad due to a day in meetings and few opportunities to move.

76 mins in total of exercise

Calories, not as great - 1506 oops!

Dashel · 21/01/2025 20:19

bigdecisionstomake · 20/01/2025 10:45

Well done to everyone with losses - there's some great progress here - amazing!

Life came at me badly last week and I fell off the wagon completely. So I'm back starting again at 10st 7.7lb today. No loss but not a disastrous gain either.

I've started some cardio this morning and will add some weights in again once I'm back in a routine.

Waves at @Dashel sorry to hear about your DH's op - sending all good wishes and a mumsnet handhold 🙂

Hello to you too 😊 @bigdecisionstomake

A handhold is much appreciated and sent back to you. Hope things have calmed down for you and congrats on the loss this morning and hope that you have a better nights sleep tonight.

I am killing my step count and trying to do some yoga or weights as well. We are working on out gut biomes so eating lots of veggies, beans and lentils.

We are skipping breakfast so doing doing a fasting 16:8 each day to see if we can keep our insulin levels down and restrict the calories a bit easier. Unfortunately the scales seem to be up and down a bit. But my body might be just adjusting to the changes. I also have been having soya milk in my morning cups of tea and I am wondering if that it is not helping so will try giving up on that.

@Greentomatoes21 congrats on the loss!

@Scarecrow2016 I would take a weekly average and then compare it week to week but my weight loss looks very similar to yours up and down. But hopefully we will both have a downward trend.

@Theemperorsnewshoes have you moved the scales? Mine often jump up a lot if they get slightly moved. Hopefully the 3lb will disappear overnight

@nodtik im using the dog as a PT so at 18k steps today and feeling it, having a desk based job makes it so hard to get the steps in.

We have all survived blue Monday and hopefully this will get easier!

Littlemissweepy · 21/01/2025 21:24

Ended day on

1,880 calories in
17,775 steps
1 x Body Pump class
374 calorie deficit

Got a new set of scales today that give me body composition stats, which had me 1 lb lighter than yesterday. Am sure it’s a calibration thing but I’ll take it!

Fibrous · 21/01/2025 21:26

I’m feeling pretty fat today but my period is due sometime round now so I’m presuming it’s water retention and I’m avoiding weighing myself. It can wait a few days.

took the dogs out for a 5k run at lunch and did some yoga this eve. I couldn’t be bothered making dinner so just had a bowl of Dorset cereals to keep my fibre intake up. I’ve also been in a bad mood, more indicators of the impending period!

my scales also jumps around a lot on our wonky bathroom floor. It takes a couple of attempts to get something sensible.

nodtik · 22/01/2025 06:08

@Littlemissweepy

I am looking for new scales, which ones did you go for?

I've bought some renpho ones after someone suggested them on here. I got them on Amazon and am very impressed

bigdecisionstomake · 22/01/2025 08:06

Morning all

Another really rubbish night's sleep here - not sure what is happening, I'm usually a good sleeper but at the moment seem to have a real problem dropping off, no matter how tired I am.

No exercise again this morning but I did get a walk in yesterday afternoon so will try to do the same today. I'm just getting to the last hour of an audiobook I'm really enjoying so that is good motivation!

The scales have dropped again this morning to 10st 5.8lb but I suspect that is just the last of the water weight coming off and the hard works starts from here.

Thanks for returning the handhold @Dashel it sounds like you're smashing the step count.

@Fibrous I remember the full on bloat of an impending period so can sympathise.

Hope everyone has a good day.

2025holidayplanner · 22/01/2025 08:12

0.4lb gain for me this morning which is disappointing but my period arrived so hopefully it’s down to that and I’ll get a bit of a loss once it’s buggered off.

socks1107 · 22/01/2025 09:37

2lb loss this week. Really pleased

@Littlemissweepy

I am looking for new scales, which ones did you go for?

My DP bought them, they are LeaOne. To be honest I wouldn’t recommend them necessarily- the scales are fine as is app etc but the were shipped from china and took almost 3 weeks to arrive. We thought we’d been scammed. Instructions manual in Chinese.

NewMe16012025 · 22/01/2025 10:33

I've just bought the Beurer GS410 Signature Black XXL bathroom scales which I'm pleased with.

I don't think I will have lost this week. However, even if I haven't I do feel like I've changed some things. I've been eating healthier food and excersising which is a big improvement.

I'll weigh tomorrow and will not give up.

Littlemissweepy · 22/01/2025 22:02

Ended day on

2,011 calories in

8,654 steps (low for me, no steps recognized when cycling, and it was freezing today so I sat under a blanket in home office a lot)

45 mins Spin class

352 cal deficit

Still not any good at this dieting lark evidently! My mini goal is to hit my protein macro (which I did today) - I’m usually under target - and my super duper new scales tell me my protein mass is lower than ideal so aiming to consciously eat more protein to see if I can change that.

bigdecisionstomake · 23/01/2025 08:32

Morning all

@Littlemissweepy you were in a calorie deficit, you did a spin class and hit your protein target so I think you are actually quite good at this dieting lark 😄well done on your progress so far. Especially hitting the protein target - I fail this miserably most days although I am gradually getting a bit better.

I hit target deficit calories yesterday and managed a walk in the afternoon so that was good but still haven't slept brilliantly - I think I am now a self fulling prophecy where I go to bed expecting not to fall asleep and therefore don't 😖

I really need to get back to exercising again, rather than just walking so am going to make a conscious effort tomorrow morning. I'll get my kit out ready tonight. Weight has dropped a tiny bit to 10st 5.7lb which I'm happy with.

Hope everyone has a good day.
