Hello Members both Founders & New ❤️

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5177149-lose-it-october-opt-in-2024?reply=139067760 🍁LOSE IT! October 2024🍁

We are now in the 8 Week Countdown to Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 Do you want to look and feel absolutely fabulous in time for the festivities?

In adopting a few lifestyle changes and food choices you can 👌

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.
We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I follow a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am currently idling around 8st 10lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

So sorry to hear about @IDareSay 's pooch, sending love ❤️ and will echo what others have said about not being hard on yourself. There's always time to be healthier when you aren't dealing with tough things. Good luck to everyone this week when it's wet and cold in many places.

Almost 2 weeks now and I haven't weighed myself in a while - will weigh in properly in Sunday to see where I've got to and go for WOW next week. With all the lower calorie recipes packed with veg and beans I've been eating, plus fruit as part of snacks, I've been hitting 5 a day or exceeding it every day which I'm pleased with. No constipation here! 😂

SW: 11st 3lb
GW: 9st

Today's menu:

B: Leftover bean and kale soup, poached egg, yoghurt
L: Cowboy caviar with rice crackers
D: Turkey fried rice with peas and green beans
S: Pack lentil curls, apple, clementines, crunch bar

Decided to weigh myself and 😬😭😭😭 I was this heavy after having my daughter 😱 anyone feel like as they get older weight goes on quicker? I have put on 11lbs since March. That's crazy. Will have to remember not to join in with the kids next Summer.

Anyway onwards and upwards. More motivated than ever.

Hi @Sparxdislike I hear you’re pain. We most certainly do put weight on easier as we progress through life. Our bodies rely on very complex chemistry and systems to function, all of which get less efficient as we age. How we gain or lose weight is down to our hormones, insulin efficiency, how balanced our blood sugars are and our own unique body composition and muscle mass. I found reducing or eliminating sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and processed foods helps me massively! Once you find a way of eating that is sustainable,
and enjoyable that takes the above points into account it all becomes easier as well as a way of life ❤️

@Sparxdislike Thank you! I'm going to make a squash and spinach pasta. Very creamy and autumnal. So I think something light will probably be ok as dessert!

EndlessGuineaPigCycle2 · 07/11/2024 15:20

Hi, Can I (re)join please?
I made some good progress earlier in the year but lost the plot in recent months and have put it all back on 😔 I'd like to lose a few lbs by Christmas if I can.
I have been keeping up with exercising though so am definitely more toned than I was at least, though have had the past 2 weeks off due to being on holiday and then being ill. Hoping to get back to it soon.
My big downfall is snacking, a lot, crisps, chocolate, biscuits etc. Mainly I'm addicted to sugar.
Rather than calorie counting, my plan is to stick to 3 healthy meals a day with no snacking, and keep up the exercise.
I'll post my SW tomorrow
Thanks

Sparxdislike · 07/11/2024 15:33

I like squash and sweet potato is tasty roasted as well. I think I'm going to do roasted sweet potato, peppers and butterfly chicken tonight.

Feel a bit bloated from all the extra water and fruit and veg but sure it will settle. Doing ok ignoring the kids sweets so proud of myself 😅

Downloaded myfitnesspal just so I can keep track. It's surprising how quickly things add up isn't it. Does anyone else use this or similar?

QuirkyRaven · 07/11/2024 22:37

Mostly a good day
I will stop eating cake every time I pass a cafe ☑️
I will eat balanced, healthy meals cooked from scratch with lots of veggies and low carbs ☑️
I will stop drinking alcohol until Christmas Day ❌
I will exercise every day (classes, C25K) ❌
I will read instead of doomscrolling ☑️
I will write every day ❌

Busy work days and busy social evenings this week.

Sparx Inysr the Lose it app and try to keep within calorie allowance without taking out calories burnt off. It is scary how I can easily use up my allowance by lunch time

TheRealHousewife · 08/11/2024 09:13

Happy Friday Everyone

Welcome back @EndlessGuineaPigCycle2 Try to get in plenty of protein, fibre and healthy fats. Also drink plenty of water. This should help to keep you satiated and less likely to snack.👍

Menu
Meal 1 - Mushroom omelette. Pecans.
Meal 2 - Cod, new potatoes, peas, carrots and dill sauce. Greek yoghurt.
Tea, black coffee and water.

Have a great Friday!

Do you do the annual subscription for the app? Thank you

beezlebubnicky · 08/11/2024 14:08

Happy Friday everyone! Been a bit tired back end of this week, how are you all doing?

Trying to stop slightly creeping over my calorie allowance which is very tempting to do. The ankle sprain will apparently be 6-8 weeks to heal :( so I won't be walking much or working out for a while - meaning I need to be extra disciplined with what I'm eating.

B: Healthier version of Turkish eggs, half a slice rye sourdough
L: Cowboy caviar, rice crackers.
D: Fishcake, roasted brussel sprouts with balsamic glaze
S: Cottage cheese with a drizzle of Twix dessert sauce, dark choc chips & a chopped apple (sounds gross but was quite nice).

I use Nutracheck and much prefer it

Sparxdislike · 08/11/2024 15:57

Also use Nutracheck and love it, if you get an annual deal it's pretty cheap. Much better as you have all the UK foods on there.

@Sparxdislike That sounds awfully low - are you very short? Taking cals so low can make your body go into starvation mode and be counterproductive to weight loss. What about aiming for 1lb a week so you could have a few more cals? Or increase exercise to give yourself a few more.

Sparxdislike · 08/11/2024 19:49

No I'm 5ft 8. I must have made a mistake somewhere. Will look again :)

Midnightstar76 · 08/11/2024 19:56

I am in! I think I have been on here before. I am in the 12 stone range and a perimenopausal mess. Have started using MyFitnessPal again to track what I am doing and currently training to join park run before Xmas. Hoping this helps!! Although off on my hols next week to Krakow is flavoured vodka quite low in calories lol Anyway going to enjoy hols not be so strict with food and start again with fresh slate when back

Midnightstar76 · 08/11/2024 20:11

SW 12s 2lb
GW 11s for now that will shift if I ever reach it

@Sparxdislike I find Nutracheck tends to set them too low. I calculate my TDEE and BMR on an online calculator, and then aim for a figure slightly above BMR but well below TDEE. I do 'set my own goal' under Nutrient Goals and put in the calorie figure and use that. It's working so far!

TheRealHousewife · 09/11/2024 12:20

Good Morning 😊

Menu
Meal 1 - Cheese & Ham Omelette. GF brownie.
Meal 2 - Steak, green beans, small potatoes & mushroom & pepper sauce. Greek yoghurt.

Enjoy your weekend!

Myfitnesspal said 1450 which is much more achievable :)

Midnightstar76 · 09/11/2024 12:28

That sound’s really nice meal plan @TheRealHousewife . I have nipped out to get ingredients for a warm berry compote with yoghurt from my fast 800 recipe book. Think I am kind of loosely following this plan and have shoved on my Apple Watch to track my steps. Happy Saturday

@Sparxdislike That sounds about right, I do 1350 and I'm 5'6". I'm glad you have more calories to play with now and good luck with it!

@TheRealHousewife Salivating at the thought of that steak dinner tbh 😅 enjoy!

Lazy day propping up my poorly ankle, but I've managed to force myself to make roasted butternut squash and cauliflower soup which will be delish for meal prepping. I find prepping extra things when I have a few mins on an evening/weekend helps me stay in track as there's always something healthy to eat.

B: Leftover cowboy caviar, rice crackers
L: Snack box - red pepper hummus & crackers, crispy chicken pops, 2x Babybel light, cucumber, chopped apple. Can add yoghurt/peanut butter with apple but I don't have spare cals today!
D: 1/2 crispy duck and pancakes
S: Choc honeycomb apple as I'm going to a firework display later!

Skyglimmer · 09/11/2024 15:29

@Sparxdislike myfitness pal puts me at 1200 which I can't do as I am so hungry when I only eat that so I eat around 1400 a day.

Sparxdislike · 09/11/2024 19:02

I'm being lazy and doing SW Korean beef noodles and veg tonight. My family had a take away and couldn't see any healthy options. I had a couple in the freezer as emergency supply. Hopefully it tastes nice and not had before 🤞

Turbulent1 · 10/11/2024 03:49

I'm on 1195 calories or 5000kjs

Sparx I don't do the subscription, hope you find one that works well for you
