Hello Members both Founders & New ❤️

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5177149-lose-it-october-opt-in-2024?reply=139067760 🍁LOSE IT! October 2024🍁

We are now in the 8 Week Countdown to Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 Do you want to look and feel absolutely fabulous in time for the festivities?

In adopting a few lifestyle changes and food choices you can 👌

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.
We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I follow a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am currently idling around 8st 10lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

Starting weight - 69kg
week1 - 68.4kg
week 2 - 68.2kg
week 3 - 67.4kg

Very pleased it is going in the right direction!

OneDayIWillLearn · 06/11/2024 09:00

I meant to add:
SW 13 stone 6lb
CW: 12 stone 4lb
GW: around 11 stone

pre Christmas target: be back in the 11s

PatienceOfEngels · 06/11/2024 09:11

WOW -0.4kg. Getting back into routine and plodding along.

CW 72.5kg
SW 77kg (Oct 23)
GW 68kg

Yesterday was tough:
✅Yoga
✅Walk
❌No UPF snacks (had some chocolate in the afternoon - though not uncontrollable eating so could have been worse!)
❌No evening eating (had a twirl before bed)
✅Journalling
❌No evening scrolling (DH picked a very uninspiring film so took me a while to settle into it)

Today got off to a bad start. Kids were crazy and not listening so left the house in a bad mood and feeling stressed. Now full on teaching and a head full of things to do.
Will definitely take some time during a free period to walk/clear my head and then do yoga this eve (DH is out so can't walk then!).

Plan for today:
-egg and toast, coffee
-fruit/veg plate
-pasta and bolognese
-greek yoghurt and honey
-split pea soup

Will catch up later.

champagneplanet · 06/11/2024 10:01

Not going to weigh today as its only day 4 for me so its unlikely that much has changed!.

Only managed 7,000 steps yesterday - didn't walk the dog PM due to the fireworks and we went to a little bonfire party so it was all a bit hectic.

Drank at least 1L of water, plus some teas - also had a coffee as I was really flagging in the afternoon. Also felt very peckish mid-afternoon so may need to bulk out lunch a little.

B: Greek yoghurt with chia seeds and flaxseed, small banana
L: Bagel thin with ham, laughing cow, lettuce & tomato with cucumber sticks
D: Bowl of tuna pasta salad, 2 squares cheese sandwiches (SIL did a buffet)
Snack: Apple, cereal bar

Came in just over my calorie limit, I cant be disappointed as dinner wasn't what I originally planned but we had a nice evening with family.

TheRealHousewife · 06/11/2024 11:13

SW: 13st 11lbs
CW: 13st 1lb (10lbs down today! 🥳)
GW: 10st 7lbs

plan today to drink allllll the water. banana for breakfast. Couple boiled eggs, cucumber and hummus for lunch, air fryer chicken, tenderstem broccoli and sweetcorn for dinner.

feeling motivated!

beezlebubnicky · 06/11/2024 13:33

Happy hump day! Bit gloomy this morning with the victory of the orange horror to contend with, but we move.

Was really struggling with hunger last night so I went slightly over calories with a Babybel, 2 mini Clementines and a bit of pickled cucumber. But wouldn't have been too many.

Ankle still tender, will have to see how it is over next few days but walks out of the question for now :(.

B: Mushroom omelette, black coffee
L: Bean and kale soup (on reflection, a bit too beany and wasn't my fave) with rice crackers
D: Chorizo style sausage with Spanish chickpea and veg stew
S: Chocolate orange crunch bar (66 cal), Babybel light, Options hot choc

Going to try and keep up my water intake and just carry on.

LemonDrizzle23 · 06/11/2024 13:50

Well done to everyone WOWing, some good successes on here!

I woke up and logged straight on to the US election news and completely missed my weigh in. Will do it tomorrow morning instead. Another successful slow cooker morning this morning and will hit the gym this afternoon while DS has a class.

Have cleared a car's worth of stuff out of the garage and taken it to the tip today. Starting to be able to see our garage floor again 😂

QuirkyRaven · 06/11/2024 13:53

Thanks for your tips and menus @TheRealHousewife and for keeping everyone on track, such a lovely supportive thread.
WoW 71kg

IDareSay · 06/11/2024 14:10

Completely lost the plot over the last 6 weeks when it comes to eating. Having my darling dog pts really sent me off the rails; lots of comfort eating and drinking has put me back to where I started in August.

Had to stop doing my weight training for a few weeks too due to a shoulder impingement so all in all was feeling very sorry for myself.

Time to (literally) put on my Big Girl Pants now and make some progress.

SW: 73.9kg (11st 9lbs) (beginning of August)
GW: 69.0 kg (10st 12lbs) Christmas
GW: 57kg (9st)

TheRealHousewife · 06/11/2024 15:49

@IDareSay How utterly awful for you 😢 Pets are such an important part of family life and I believe we suffer real heartfelt bereavements when they leave us 💔. Sending a hug.

I've done well again today with food but no exercise today as I've had no time and I'm off out to dinner with friends so I'm just going to try and eat sensibly and have one glass of wine as I'm already feeling so much better in myself and I don't want to fall back to old ways again!

Banana,Greek yogurt and sprinkle of granola

Leftover pasta and tomato sauce for lunch

Dinner out but hopefully sensible 🤞

TheRealHousewife · 06/11/2024 18:44

@HangryHandful Congratulations on getting into the double figures of weight loss! Quite the milestone 👏

You’re welcome @QuirkyRaven 👍

@LemonDrizzle23 Its been quite exciting American Politics wise 😳

@beezlebubnicky A good strategy, especially when feeling peckish is to clean and close the kitchen then wash face and brush teeth 😬 It does help 👍

Well done to everyone so far , some fab progress👏 hectic day yesterday and today, but managed to stick to my food plan (mostly) I had a long journey for work today with a 430am start so the urge to snack was horrible. Placated myself with a cereal bar 😂 Exercised yesterday which I was pleased with, not going to weigh yet as only on day 3, but glad to be back into it

Captainladder · 06/11/2024 19:10

🤦🏽‍♀️ realised this morning when I stepped on the scales (I weigh myself every day because otherwise I never weigh myself - I guess it's like a kind of exposure therapy!) that I'm actually 98.7...not 89 🙃. I think I just flipped tge numbers when I wrote them! In my head I was 98 so when I re read my post this morning I did chuckle.
had most of my water, no snacks, 3 meals. Often not hungry for breakfast so they are breakfast either 11 or 12.30, a small lunch 3.30 and then dinner 6.30 .
Would quite like to drop the breakfast or lunch meal .... will work towards that but currently brain is on "hungry, it's winter" mode.... so I'll be content with not snacking in between and
saying no to the ice cream 🤣

Glenthebattleostrich · 06/11/2024 19:56

@IDareSay so sorry about your furbaby. They leave such a huge hole. Sending hugs.

A pretty good day for me. Yogurt with strawberries for breakfast. Low cqrb wrap with corned beef for lunch. Carrots, tomatoes and cucumber snacks, scrambled egg on toast for lunch. 24500 step count so far.

Sparxdislike · 06/11/2024 20:09

@IDareSay I'm so sorry about your dog :(

I have a bad shoulder as well and other health issues so share how frustrating it is. Are you having any treatment for the impingement?

I have had an ok day today. I have resisted snacking and drank lots of water. I think evening snacking (and joining in on treats when kids are off school) is my worst time so I'm going to go to bed when the kids do and relax and read on my kindle :)

QuirkyRaven · 06/11/2024 20:27

@IDareSay very sorry about your dog

LemonDrizzle23 · 06/11/2024 22:15

@TheRealHousewife Exciting is definitely one word for it 😳

@IDareSay so sorry to hear about your dog. That would set anybody back. Look after yourself. Also feel your annoyance with the constant injuries.

10,000 steps, move ring complete and slow cooker chicken eaten. Did some cycling at the gym, will see how my knee likes that tomorrow morning... Did eat too much left over bonfire night cake however.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 06/11/2024 23:49

Wow the thread has been busy, Christmas is clearly a motivator.

one week down, one pound down - hurrah! Very pleased given my exercise is restricted and the weekend was pretty social.

I resisted a bacon roll this morning, but not a biscuit later on…

PatienceOfEngels · 07/11/2024 07:24

Mixed bag yesterday:
✅Yoga (had a very busy and stressful day so ended up doing in the evening and enjoyed it more)
✅Walk (popped out during the school day)
❌No UPF snacks (couldn't resist a Twirl from my UK stash)
❌No evening eating (See above! And some cheese and nuts)
✅Journalling
✔No evening scrolling (was scrolling when home alone but then managed to focus for the last 2 hours before bed. Was still eating a book way too late though)

Another stressful day out of routine today as I have to leave work early for a meeting about DC.

-boiled egg and toast, coffee
-fruit/veg plate
-soup and bread/spread
-greek yoghurt and honey
-dinner is a surprise - DH is cooking but we're both in a meeting so it will be later than usual whatever it is.

-already done 30mins yoga.
>walk this evening

Still feel like I'm holding so much weight around my middle. Must dig out some other trousers to see how they fit.

Sparxdislike · 07/11/2024 07:52

Decided to weigh myself and 😬😭😭😭 I was this heavy after having my daughter 😱 anyone feel like as they get older weight goes on quicker? I have put on 11lbs since March. That's crazy. Will have to remember not to join in with the kids next Summer.

Anyway onwards and upwards. More motivated than ever.

LemonDrizzle23 · 07/11/2024 08:12

Weigh-in this morning is the same, which tells me I didn't put anything on over half term / Halloween / firework night, which I will count as a win.

In-laws are here for the weekend, and I've planned a nice sorbet for dessert instead of more cake calories 😂 And veggie spaghetti and veggie soup (FIL is veggie, DS is decidedly anti-vegetables, so we'll see how we get on....)

Sorbet is yummy. Enjoy! I actually would prefer that over cake :)

Namerequired · 07/11/2024 09:53

A little late but can I join please. I was on the lose weight for summer thread and did great. I was 4stone loss. But then I stopped and have put over a stone back on!! Need to get myself back into it.
sw 17st 13
lowest this year 13st 13
cw 15st 3 😭
gw probably about 9st but we will see.

Also 7weeks to Christmas? This year has flown!
