Hello Members both Founders & New ❤️

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5177149-lose-it-october-opt-in-2024?reply=139067760 🍁LOSE IT! October 2024🍁

We are now in the 8 Week Countdown to Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 Do you want to look and feel absolutely fabulous in time for the festivities?

In adopting a few lifestyle changes and food choices you can 👌

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.
We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I follow a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am currently idling around 8st 10lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

Hello, an I please join?

Currently 194lb
Xmas aim 185lb
Target 140lb

Prefer to eat low carb.

Aim for 100000 steps per week (around 14200 per day) so need to get a decent walk in and plan to sort out the freezer to plan meals for the week.

Need to up my water and do some strength training. Signed up for a circuit and lbt class on Monday, and organised a walk with friends on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday next week.

Accbabymom1994 · 03/11/2024 08:23

I had a bad week due to horrendous periodsbut going back to it now, starting 18:6 today again , have lost 29 pounds since July hopefully lose a stone till December

OneDayIWillLearn · 03/11/2024 08:59

Joining on again from August/ September/ October.

We are coming back from a week away today so I’ll weigh later today but I’ve basically had ten days ‘off’ now (birthday than half term!!) and I’m prepared for a nasty shock. I was down at 12 stone 2 lbs before that (from a starting weight of 13 stone 6 in June). But i definitely will have gained.

I think I need a week to re-set - back to journaling, water, tracking, steps etc, and hopefully then I’ll be back in the zone.

My next goal is to get back to 12 stone 2 (may take a few weeks!) and then after that to see 11 stone AND to get the other side of Christmas still seeing 11 stone.

Webbb · 03/11/2024 10:57

Got the idea from @PatienceOfEngels and made pumpkin pancakes today- YUM!! (Thank you)

So confused, I ate like a crazy person on holiday yet weighed in today and lost 2lb! How!? I went 1000 over most days! Bodies are bloody weird. I'm happy though.

Just got my period today so will try and have a very good week, little sugar as poss and loads of water, and hope to maintain next weekend.

I'd love to join in with you all. I'm currently the heaviest i've ever been at 12 stone. I hate my clothes being too tight, I seem to live in leggings and I feel bloated and heavy.

I'm usually just under 11 stone but lately it has just crept up. It's the result of too much wine, too many biscuits and lack of portion control.

I'm going to try and start C25K and walk more with the dog/family. Would love to get to 10.5 stone eventually, I know I can do it I just need some willpower.

anon2022anon · 03/11/2024 12:03

Day 1 & 2 done.
Stuck to food plan both days, 10k steps hit both days. Over a litre of water drunk both days too (work in progress).
About to get my shoes on for a half an hour walk with the dog to get some in today, and will break my fast when I get back. Feeling a bit hungry now though.

Well done all those doing well!

PatienceOfEngels · 03/11/2024 17:49

Hope they were tasty @Webbb !

Changed my lunch to a slice of rye toast with a boiled egg, plus one ryvita with cheese.
A blondie.
Dinner was actually rendang (Indonesian style stewed beef with peanuts and lots of chilli, garlic and spices) and so yummy.

✅Yoga
✅Walk
✅No UPF snacks
❓No evening eating (not there yet!)
✅Journalling
❓No evening scrolling (not there yet!)

Back to work tomorrow. Plan for the day:
-boiled egg and rye toast w butter, coffee.
-yoga in my classroom
-fruit/veg plate
-pumpkin pancakes with greek yoghurt and honey
-1x ryvita with cheese
-chicken, veg stir fry with noodles
-evening walk

worriedgal · 03/11/2024 18:13

I'm just finishing day two and been really good 👍🏻
Dh and I went on a long walk today and I've counted all my calories so feeling pretty positive.
I plan on a walk tomorrow before work as I've realised I'm better off doing exercise in the morning at this time of year.
I'm aiming to do daily yoga and a meditation too from tomorrow .

littlepurplerose · 03/11/2024 18:40

What I ate today:

No breakfast

Lunch- salad of spinach, carrot, chicken brocoli with Thai dressing and handful peanuts

Snacks- blueberry's, carrot sticks, few sunbites crisps

Dinner- rice with beans and mushrooms

Snack- 4 squares dark chocolate

beezlebubnicky · 03/11/2024 18:44

Sounds like we're all broadly doing well! @Webbb those pancakes look really good.

Got some steps in today at our favourite NT property.

B: Vegan bacon and egg in flatbread with chilli jam
L: Leek and potato soup, beetroot with balsamic on the side
D: IKEA meatballs with chips, peas, gravy and lingonberry jam.
S: Small amount of nut mix, apple, Lidl mini choc caramel bar

Been feeling really tired but I think it's the weather.

Rosie2496 · 03/11/2024 18:53

Hi 👋
i would like to join please. Couple of days late but new week and all that. Would be good to get some motivation. Stuck in a bit of a rut and have been since august after summer hol. Prior to that lost 5 stone after having my twins (4st of that was pregnancy weight gain) so lighter than I was pre preg. Put loads of weight on during Covid so before getting pregnant I was the lightest I’d been in years.
CW 11.7
Xmas goal 11
target 10.7
Aiming for low carb, getting my steps over 10k per day (been struggling lately to do so after returning to work after Mat leave) and no snacking, no alcohol including at weekends !
Also want to exercise at least 3x per week (at home) which is what I struggle with the most- between lack of sleep, 4 kids and work but I know it will help and I always feel better for it .

LemonDrizzle23 · 03/11/2024 19:31

Evening all, and hello to our new joiners!! You've found a very supportive thread.

Back to school tomorrow, so back into our normal routine. New for November, the slow cooker is out to prepare some healthy lunches for DH and me throughout the week. See if I can keep that going for the next four weeks!

Lovely mooch around the city today and way too much sushi for lunch...

Intentions for the upcoming week:

  • IF, eating between 10.30am and 6.30pm
  • 10,000 steps a day
  • slow cooker lunch mon - thurs
  • track on nutracheck
  • 1 meal out (Sunday)

Hope everyone has had a good weekend!

Whatanidiot123 · 03/11/2024 19:47

Good evening! I’d like to join please. 10st 7lb with a stone to lose to get back to comfortable size 8-10. I’ve been carrying it for over three years, since I gave birth to my youngest, and enough is enough. I didnt struggle to lose weight after my first DC but I was 41 when I gave birth and I’m now firmly heading for perimenopause.

I eat too much, too many snacks and carbs. I’ve cut out almost all ultra processed food so what I eat isn’t terrible but it could be better.

I think I need to IF and reduce carbs/increase protein, plus ensuring calorie deficit. I weight train for an hour twice a week. I walk 10k steps a day at least. I want to add a yoga practice but I struggle with finding the time.

QuirkyRaven · 04/11/2024 05:20

Could I join you?
Currently 71kg, would love to be 57kg.
My plan:
I will stop eating cake every time I pass a cafe
I will eat balanced, healthy meals cooked from scratch with lots of veggies and low carbs
I will stop drinking alcohol until Christmas Day
I will exercise every day (classes, C25K)
I will read instead of doomscrolling
I will write every day

Sparxdislike · 04/11/2024 07:32

Hi! Weight has slowly crept on :( have about a stone and a half to lose. Everything feels uncomfortable. Doesn't help all friends and family want to do social things eating out. I feel so sluggish and in a rut tbh :( good luck everyone.

HangryHandful · 04/11/2024 09:07

Hello All!

so relieved a new week is upon us. Weekends are harder, aren’t they? less the temptation, more the free time I would usually use for snacking. Suddenly have all this extra time but I’m getting a bit bored of filling it with housework!

my plan this week is really just to repeat last week with the addition of drinking more water. I really need to force myself to drink water.

my husband has just started taking mounjaro so I’m trying not to get competitive but I welcome the fact it’s spurred me on to keep going with what I’m doing because I just DO want to win 😂

Feeling so proud of myself as I haven’t had any chocolate since Thursday 24th! Which was my day of realisation that something needs to change. I’m not missing it - I miss the rituals, cup of tea and some chocolate in the evening but not the actual chocolate. Now it’s a herbal tea & folding laundry. Not quite as romantic!

good luck to all on another week. We’ve got this! 💪

LemonDrizzle23 · 04/11/2024 09:08

Well, despite DH announcing at 6.45am that he had a 7.30am meeting and therefore being absent this morning, I managed to sort me and DS and get everything into the slow cooker before school. And we weren't even the latest ones at the school gates 😂 Hopefully it's tasty!

Webbb · 04/11/2024 09:17

@QuirkyRaven those are good intentions!I especially like the resisting of cake (hard) and the stopping doomscrolling (feels impossible to stop sometimes!)

Impressed at your time management skills this morning, @LemonDrizzle23

Welcome to the newcomers to the thread too!

Sparxdislike · 04/11/2024 10:48

My sister has mounjaro but tbh she hasn't lost as much as I expected. She had 6 stone to lose. She lost 2 and it's stayed the same since. She has struggled for a long time with her weight however.

I'm really trying to drink more water and stocked up on herbal tea. Feel very bloated at the moment. Think I'm peri-menopausal as other symptoms so hoping the healthy diet etc will help.

I have got some skinny whip bars to have with a cup of tea in the evening. It will be a treat :)

OneDayIWillLearn · 04/11/2024 10:50

Did a post holiday weigh-in this morning and back to 12 stone 6.5 lbs, so basically 4 up from ten days ago. Hoping a couple of those will be water weight but no doubt at least a couple will be real!!

oh well, good to be getting back into routine, did my journal this morning and have good lunches and dinner planned for the week so hopefully come WoW I’ll have something to show for it!

Sounds good! I'm ok with cake. It's more avoiding the children's snacks 🙈 especially sweets. 😬🙈 we didn't really have any trick or treaters so have lots from Halloween. I made some treat bags and gave some to friend's children. Still quite a lot left but I'm going to try and back of fruit and veg and ignore them 😬🙈

TheRealHousewife · 04/11/2024 10:59

Good Morning All ❤️

Mondays come around far too fast! 😬

@LemonDrizzle23 It must be such a relief for you! We are nearly there. The kitchen is now complete and we are just waiting on the decorator 👍. I actually lost quite a bit during the refit. Inadvertently missed a few meals and it shows. I can say normal service has now resumed so I will probably see a small gain on WOW 😅

Apologies if missed anyone off.

You’ve all got off to a great start and I’ve read some great results. Congratulations 🥳.

Being consistent, even with the small changes will equal some solid positive results. When it gets tough just keep going. Don’t let a slip up here and there turn into f* it mentality. That will only lead to a downward spiral into the food abyss and your sense of well being and mental health will take a hit ❤️

Sharing Novembers Action for Health Calendar again as it seems it didn’t post at the end of last week.

Just keep going … it is worth it 🥰

Menu
Meal 1 - Seed crackers & avocado. Walnuts
Meal 2 - Home made Toad-in-the-hole, carrots, cabbage, peas & gravy.
Tea, black coffee & water.

I think I'm going to do measurements rather than weigh 🤔 I often find the scales a bit of a negative for me. I do know my starting weight but in the past find myself sneaking mid week weigh ins 🙈

Sparxdislike · 04/11/2024 11:49

@TheRealHousewife what's your homemade toad in the hole recipe? Or do you do the traditional with low fat sausages? It's a favourite in our house :)

champagneplanet · 04/11/2024 12:04

Thank you for the welcome @TheRealHousewife I already feel motivated reading through the posts so far.

I am back at work today after half term and a weekend away of over indulgence. I did however manage 12,000+ steps on Sat/Sun so not all bad. I have a work's dinner mid-week and will be away overnight so will have to make some clever eating/drinking choices there but otherwise I'm focused on the week ahead.

I have brought lunch to work, plus some healthy snacks and I will be drinking more water and less coffee. Have already walked the dog this morning and plan to do some form of activity tonight, although dog walking my not be a good idea as 5th Nov seems so have come early for some!

Good luck for the week ahead everyone 😀
