Hello Members, both Original and New!

Following on from 🍁LOSE IT September 2024🍁

Where did September go!

Now October is upon us, it’s time to start the 12 Week Countdown to Christmas 🎄🎄🎄

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.
As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.
We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).
I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost nearly 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am currently idling around 9st. Aiming to reach my goal of 8st 12lb.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

Well done everyone!

68.4kg this morning down from 69kg last week.

I’ve eaten fairly well the last week, lots of cooking from scratch and minimal snacking. Over the moon that it seems to have paid off!

Accbabymom1994 · 23/10/2024 19:07

I'm at 13.7 atm I think I'm down probably 3 pounds this month

Fellsbells · 24/10/2024 10:11

hope things are better for you soon @PatienceOfEngels

PatienceOfEngels · 24/10/2024 18:49

I am having a lovely break at my parents now @Fellsbells . had s good trip over, DC behaving, and a lovely day out at zoo today. Eating for England (all the stuff I can't get where I live - hula hoops, crumpets, Cadbury's, local sausages) and really enjoying myself.

Fellsbells · 24/10/2024 20:04

Glad to hear that @PatienceOfEngels enjoy.

B- greek yoghurt, fruit, chia seeds and flax.
L- egg, bacon and avocado on toast.
D- veg soup with toasted bread and cheese.
I have had a few sugary snacks as well today, but it’s still been a good day.

Hello everyone, I would really like to join.

My weight has been steadily increasing for years. At 43, I never really changed the way that I ate and struggled with self confidence. I also have adhd so routines and self care overall is a challenge. Now 14st 3lb. I am a binger and love my carbs. I left teaching last year and became a carer for my daughter and have constant access to food and not many opportunities to get to the gym. I do have dogs and have been increasing my steps through walks.

I have spent the last week monitoring my food urges and they are definitely linked to stress/boredom so I am making a conscious effort to work on that.

SW: 14st 3lb/90.3kg
TW: 10st 3lb/64.9kg

Hello everybody, especially @TheRealHousewife and others who may still be around from a couple of years ago!

Peeking my head round the door again. I was on here in 2022 when I was losing weight postpartum, but then I started a new job and dropped off entirely. Here we are a couple of YEARS 😱 later and my weight is back to hovering around 95kg and I'm just fed up of it.

This is the weight I seem to stabilize at when I'm just doing 'whatever I want' but I'm unhappy with how I look and feel. I want to be a good example to my kids, having an overweight mother myself.

A few obstacles - with kids and a very active full-time job, I'm short on time and inspiration. Not short on exercise. But we default to processed dinners a lot and I'm terrible for buying extra snacks at work.

So I know exactly what I need to do, I just need some support in doing it.

Current weight: about 95kg
Short-term goal weight: 90kg
Ultimate goal weight: 80kg

Thanks guys!

Coatsoff42 · 27/10/2024 06:34

Weighed myself Wednesday and it was 84.7kg, so down at last and then had a Chinese takeaway to celebrate, absolute self sabotage!
Back on all home cooked meals again, and been busy with work which is quite physical, so hopefully will continue downwards.
Yoga is really helping my tight back and shoulders, I feel looser and taller, if not thinner.

LegoTherapy · 27/10/2024 10:05

I can't remember when I last weighed myself but it's been half term and I've been eating things I wouldn't normally and too much salt. I dread to think what the scales will say tomorrow.

Margauxdes · 27/10/2024 19:37

Hello ladies! I'm new to this thread. I've been dieting for just over a month now, on the keto diet, and I've lost 3.5 kg so far. I've got another 3.5 to go. I've been looking for a support chat, as this journey can feel a bit lonely. Anyone else on the keto diet?

LemonDrizzle23 · 27/10/2024 20:21

Hello to joiners and returners 👋

I have had two big roast dinners, complete with puddings this weekend 🫣 they were both wonderful, but yeah, avoiding the scales!

Half term week starting tomorrow. DS has a few sessions that are drop and go, so I shall be aiming to hit the gym during these and keep meals vaguely sensible. Otherwise it's play dates galore for the next week.

LegoTherapy · 28/10/2024 06:57

55.85kg. Not too bad considering.

Welcome new posters!

@Margauxdes not me, I live on carbs but well done on your loss so far!

Margauxdes · 28/10/2024 07:49

That's great @LegoTherapy . 55 is my goal weight, I was 58.2 yesterday. We had a treat for dinner last night , we ordered an Indian takeaway as we've got family visiting. I didn't eat any carbs but I think there was added sugar in my dishes as they tasted so sweet and I'm in not in ketosis this morning. Hopefully, will be back to normal tomorrow 🤞half term for us too, no time for the gym though but the kids will definitely keep me busy 😬

LegoTherapy · 29/10/2024 07:29

55.3kg today. Must have been the salty food and not eating anything salty yesterday or Sunday helped get rid of the water weight.

PatienceOfEngels · 29/10/2024 09:00

Back from our holiday. +0.5kg which isn't as bad as I feared given I always eat terribly stuff when I'm in the UK (crisps, fizzy drinks, cheese, pasties and sausage rolls, pizza, desserts, eating out, not enough veg).

November is going to be quieter (no birthdays, no weekends away) so hopefully I can make better progress next month.

Currently +0.9kg from the beginning of the month but will weigh in Thursday to see if a few days back on schedule helps!

PatienceOfEngels · 29/10/2024 09:03

Plan for today:

-boiled egg and rye toast with butter, coffee
-red pepper and mushroom omelette
-roast chicken leg with barley and vegetable stew
-snack of greek yoghurt with honey and banana
-lots of water and herbal tea

LemonDrizzle23 · 29/10/2024 10:26

Well into half term here now. Went to pizza express yesterday for lunch - my insides are not thanking me for all that cheese 😭 We're busy every day now, so no more mad meals as I need to be fully functioning...

Remaining active over half term is going well, and so far the weather seems to be holding up! We're off to a pumpkin patch this afternoon, followed by swimming.

Bolognese is defrosting for tea tonight. I feel like a well organised human currently! Hope everyone else's holidays are running smoothly. It can be hard being out of routine.

Fellsbells · 29/10/2024 10:40

I had quite a carby weekend, but my weight was stable today. Did some batch cooking yesterday to fill the freezer with healthy, filling options.

Feeling much more on track and with an event at the end on November to look forward to I’ve got something to aim for to inspire me to eat well and not fall into a pizza black hole.

Margauxdes · 29/10/2024 12:27

Hi everyone 🤗 I'm back in ketosis today. But gone up to 58.8 ( was 58.2 on Sunday) Definitely won't be eating another takeaway anytime soon. I had a salad for lunch with chicken wings, not thought about dinner yet. I'm working this afternoon, can't wait to get away from the kids 🙈🤣

Skyglimmer · 29/10/2024 12:44

I haven't weighed myself in a while as went away with some friends for 4 days and ate and drank what I wanted. Off for the first bit of half term with the kids but trying to fit in exercise and eat well.

Iamnotaloggrip · 30/10/2024 06:41

Morning all, 10.10 again for this week’s WoW. I was hoping to have dropped a little more as I’ve been more active over half term, but my eating’s been all over the place too so not that much of a surprise! Back to normal next week.

Hope everyone’s having a good week and welcome to the newbies 😊

Lampitt · 30/10/2024 06:44

Week 1 weigh in:

SW 14st 3lb
CW 14st 1lb
gain/loss -2lb

Not a bad start, I did really well throughout the week. Not restricted myself at all but just making better choices and increasing my steps. Then yesterday, the binge urges rose their ugly head and I overate. I was sat at the computer for most of the day and realise that urges come when I am least active.

Any advice on what to do to fight the urges would be greatly appreciated. I tried water first and a banana but it just didn’t satisfy. I def didn’t need it though as I am not doing a restrictive diet.

PatienceOfEngels · 30/10/2024 07:03

Wow = no change!

I'm really happy with that considering I spent 4 days eating the best processed carbs the UK has to offer, mountains of cheese and Cadbury's.

This month I have been fighting a losing battle with a hotel stay for work, a big birthday in the house so lots of cakes and treats, and then out trip to the UK for half term. Very pleased to have only put on half a kilo in October. I'm 0.6kg lighter than my high this month (only a few days ago) and 0.9kg heavier than my lowest.

November will be easier. No birthdays. No weekends away. Have 2 nice days out planned which might mean a lunch or dinner out but I will be sensible and plan properly so that we don't end up scarfing down crappy food or having 2 meals out when a bit of planning could have helped it just be one. (Going to see a matinee musical in the big smoke with one DC and then Cirque de Soleil for the first time in another big smoke with both DC).

I have managed to keep up my almost daily yoga. On track to finish a 30 day programme (YWA Home...not my favourite as found she talks a lot so sometimes it's too slow, but kept me moving). Will start another 30 day sequence on Friday for November.

Yesterday didn't quite go to plan food wise as I was home alone for a few hours so attacked my Cadbury's and Stilton stash, and forgot I'd taken some home-baking out the freezer to defrost and use up (lemon slice 🍋).

Today:
-boiled egg, rye toast with butter, coffee
-fruit plate
-greek yoghurt, honey, banana
-spaghetti bolognese

Will be setting my intentions for November.

At the moment I really want to see the scales move down, so I have to make a real effort to knock all snacking on the head (except fruit/veg), drink enough water, and no eating after dinner. If I can then stick to my normal rules (no booze, no caffeine after breakfast, home-made lunches and dinners with lots of veg) then I really hope to see a difference. I don't think it's realistic for me to reach my goal by Christmas (-4.5kg) as I've been trying to get there for a year already and am only half way there, but even if I could get down to 70kg I'd be happy (-2.5kg....so -1.5kg this month would be great).

Exercise wise I'm going to keep up a daily yoga practice but try to get more steps in with an evening walk and podcast/audiobook (just sent act via Spotify premium I can listen to lots of audiobooks!).

I'm feeling pretty stressed and chaotic at the moment with all the recent problems at home and work. So I need to focus on relaxation and calm. No scrolling in front of the TV. Make lists to get things done in house/for work during non-working days. Get outside every day for some daylight. Start journalling again.

Have a good day everyone.

LegoTherapy · 30/10/2024 07:29

55.4kg this morning., Greek yogurt and raspberry jam in lieu of compote for breakfast.

OliveZebra · 30/10/2024 09:33

68.2kg from 68.4kg last week

Basically no change - but going in the right direction so I’ll take it!
