Hello Members, both Original and New!

Following on from 🍁LOSE IT September 2024🍁

Where did September go!

Now October is upon us, it’s time to start the 12 Week Countdown to Christmas 🎄🎄🎄

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.
As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.
We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).
I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost nearly 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am currently idling around 9st. Aiming to reach my goal of 8st 12lb.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

Morning all - another WOW maintain at 10.12 - though there was no half pound on there, and it did flicker down to 10.11, so I'm taking that as a mini-win!

It'll be all the chocolate and desserts I ate at the weekend - we had meals with friends and family. But the next few weekends are quieter so hopefully I can keep a lid on it.

Yesterday wasn't bad - salad for lunch and homemade curry for dinner, just two squares of 85% chocolate afterwards.

Today I have another salad for lunch and a veggie pasta thing for dinner. I did pilates this morning and must must must get out for a walk at lunchtime - I tried yesterday but it was raining. Today looks dryer so no excuse!

Good luck to everyone WOW-ing!

RainbowWife · 02/10/2024 12:07

Good luck and well done to all the WOWers today :)

I am much bigger than all of you on this thread! But at 1stone 10lbs loss so far.

Jumping in with a name change. Was on the Sept thread but missed the last WOW as had an event that threw everything off 😬

But! Back on it now and damage has been rectified. Another restart…

I gained one and a quarter pound this week. I had a meal out with wine on Saturday and quite a few days of going over by a couple of hundred calories. I’m trying to stay on track again using My Fitness Pal as it worked so well for the first month. I have another meal out this weekend and I want to enjoy it as it’s my wedding anniversary and it’ll be our first time out together in ages.

On the plus side I have kept to my goal of not drinking alcohol at home and all the walks in the fresh air have me feeling happier and healthier. Hopefully I can maintain this week as I would be disappointed with another gain.

SW: 10st 1 lb
CW: 9st 10lbs
GW: 9st 7lbs

Fellsbells · 03/10/2024 14:28

Thank you for the new month’s thread @TheRealHousewife 🍁

Finding that the weather, hormones and life in general is making eating well difficult. Just got to keep trying and making food a priority.

Raininginmyheart · 03/10/2024 16:34

So I started a VCLD last week and was 13st 2 lbs and I weighed myself on Wednesday and was 12.7 so 9 lbs weight loss very happy with that and I’m aware obviously the losses will slow down incrementally.
I do understand this type of regime isn’t for everyone and there are many critics of them but I want/ need to do things this way at least as a kick start and I have the approval of my GP btw…
I have a very addictive personality, frankly I’m just glad I have never been tempted by drugs , alcohol, betting or designer handbags !🤣so that is one reason for going with this plan .
I haven’t found it particularly hard, but I am weeing quite a lot ….

PatienceOfEngels · 03/10/2024 19:34

I think I need to ignore my Wow this week. So bloated today with being at the end of my cycle. I look like I'm pregnant!

Currently holed up in a hotel room as have a course for the next 3 days. The walk to the hotel from the station felt very dodgy (exit of major train station reeked of vomit and urine and the square I had to cross was full of blokes hanging around with cans of alcohol and the stench of cannabis) so no way I was heading out for a walk after dinner. It was a national holiday in the country I'm in today and the hotel wasn't the main train station exit but I didn't expect it to be like this! Maybe tomorrow will be different.

Have just had a bath and done some yoga. Currently stuck with only German language TV (i do not speak German 😂) so no TV for me tonight as everything is dubbed.

Today:
B-boiled egg, rye toast, butter, coffee
S-fruit and veg plate
L-spiced lentil soup with creme fraiche, bread with olive oil and cream cheese.
S-kit kat, flavoured water
D-supermarket salad (Italian chicken pasta - delish!) with a lion bar and mini tube of pringles, orange juice.

Going to have a cup of herbal tea and either watch a play or read.
Need to try and look after myself the next few days - don't make a pig of myself with food, drink plenty of water, get outside when I can, and relax.

Apparently the city I'm in has one of the largest Japanese communities in Europe so may head down to the Japanese quarter tomorrow night for some sushi or ramen.

LegoTherapy · 03/10/2024 20:36

My lovely ds just described me as "a tiny bit fat" 😩 I've walked 45 miles this week so far and evidently need to up my game!

TheRealHousewife · 04/10/2024 10:30

Good Morning All

I'd intended to pop on today after a very hectic start to the month. What a week we have had! Tradesperson tried to rinse us for what ultimately was a poor job and now we need to find someone to make good!

Then we had a bit of a medical emergency that involved Paramedics turning up in the middle of the night without being called due to some blood test results; then time spent in A&E - all ok thank heavens.

This morning I nearly burnt the house down ... lit a candle as odour from last nights katsu curry was hanging around. A draft wafted a Jelly Cat bag (JC soft toys arrive in then) onto a candle which melted the bag which fell on a jar of Vaseline which caught alite and was near to some laundry 😳 After dealing with it calmly I'm now trembling.

Here's hoping for a calmer weekend 🙏❤️

@TheRealHousewife no wonder you're trembling! That last one is a horrid 'near miss'. I hope you have a much calmer weekend 🙏🏻 Cowboy builders are arseholes too, and it seems to be such a frequent issue these days!

We went away last night for a wonderful meal. 9 course taster menu, Michelin starred, properly special. Every bite absolutely glorious. Never done anything like it before! It was incredible!

Today we got back and it turns out DH lost the house and car keys somewhere along the way and my Amazon account has been hacked. So we have landed back down to earth with a bump 🤦🏼‍♀️

Thank you @LemonDrizzle23 ❤️. The meal sounds like it was devine! However what a nightmare afterwards!!! I hope you get everything reimbursed if they've spent on your account 🤞

@TheRealHousewife what a time you’ve had of it!!

@LemonDrizzle23 your meal sounds Devine!

I’ve lost 5lbs this week, down to 195lbs which I’m really happy about as have been up and down from 215-200lbs for the last couple of years. This week I’m going to focus on fluids and indoors exercise as kids off school and it is definitely not wheelchair-friendly weather for us to be out. So - upping the number of flights of stairs I do each day, and finally, finally, starting some yoga.

TheRealHousewife · 05/10/2024 08:45

Good Morning Everyone

Cool but lovely and sunny here! Hope it’s fine where you are ☀️

Ive not weighed, logged food or meal planned (unheard of) this past week due to being more busy than usual. Hoping to get back into an interested mood … failure to plan is planning to fail.

@Poisonwood Great loss and yoga is a fabulous form of exercise. Every bit helps. Sorry to read you’re stuck in with your children; hope that changes soon. It’s difficult to keep them entertained especially in poor weather.

Menu
Meal 1 - Home made spicy vegetable and red lentil soup. Yoghurt drizzle.
Meal 2 - Mushroom Omelette with steamed carrots & broccoli on the side.
Tea, black coffee and water.

Sharing Action for Happiness Calendar - Optimistic October ❤️

Morning all!

Weighing in at 14.4 and a 1/2 stone!
Am 5f8
Need to get to 11
I'd be happy with 1b a week to be honest!

Upping exercise
Low carbs
Cutting right back on vino!

OneDayIWillLearn · 05/10/2024 10:18

Weighed in at 12 stone 4lbs this morning which is the lowest I’ve seen on the scale since 2022 (maybe even 2021) so really pleased. I’ve been doing calorie counting alongside WW this week and despite having it my mind that I hate calorie counting I’ve found it good on nutracheck and have enjoyed having more flexibility than with WW.

On a train to London now for a hen do which involves a bottomless brunch (including cocktails!) so I doubt today will pan out very well but what I’ve really learnt the last few months is that as long as I get back on the horse and don’t let myself think ‘oh now I’ve blown it’ then it really isn’t a problem to have days which aren’t on plan.

AutumnalCosiness · 05/10/2024 10:19

Love the action for happiness calendar OP!
Am potting up bulbs for spring today ☺️💐🌷

Can you share your lentil soup recipe please?

AutumnalCosiness · 05/10/2024 10:20

Oh god I HATE calorie counting too. What's nutracheck @OneDayIWillLearn ?

RainbowWife · 05/10/2024 10:41

Have fun @OneDayIWillLearn and yes it's all about getting straight back on it and not hitting the 'fuck it' button! I was shocking for having a bad Wednesday and thinking ahhhh, I better restart next Monday!

@AutumnalCosiness it's a calorie counting app, it's fantastic and so easy to use.

@TheRealHousewife I am so glad all was ok after your lucky escape! Terrifying. I've changed where I put candles now thanks to you.

Weigh in day is tomorrow and I'll cry if it's not a success, after I gained a pound last week- logically I know it was because I got my period but I still felt terrible as I'd stayed within my limit all week. So it better have shifted this week! Went 200 over on Sunday, but had around 50-150 left every day since then. Fingers crossed.

AutumnalCosiness · 05/10/2024 10:54

Thanks @RainbowWife will check it out. MFP is gets on my nerves. Too many adverts!

NothingTraLaLa · 05/10/2024 11:05

I’ve had slight gains this week, but I have been feeling under the weather; my default easy family meals when I don’t have the energy or inclination to cook much tend to be pasta/bread/potato-based so it’s been carb central round here. Feeing a bit better now so the balance will be adjusted in favour of veg this week.

AutumnalCosiness · 05/10/2024 14:37

Eggs on sourdough for breakfast
Yog & cherries for lunch.
Planning to eat roast veg n veggie sausages later.

I've done a 2hr bike ride so feeling a bit happier with myself today. I've been very sedentary lately! Off to do the garden now! 🪴

LemonDrizzle23 · 05/10/2024 16:54

@TheRealHousewife thankfully all they bought was a cheap-ish book. Seems like a wasted opportunity from a criminal perspective! All related passwords now changed and refund issued by Amazon.

@Poisonwood it was honestly so good - literally every mouthful was heaven! I wonder if that's what life is like if you're rich and have a private chef every day....

Had my flu jab this morning, so the painful arm / shoulder has set in. Hopefully I won't end up feeling too under the weather.

Fairly sedentary day today, but gym is booked in for tomorrow, and on Monday I've booked in an aqua fit class!

Iamnotaloggrip · 06/10/2024 06:22

Morning all.

I spent yesterday painting the kitchen and am aching this morning so hopefully it did me some good! Got the second coat to do today 🥴.

Ate ok yesterday, cheese and crackers for lunch (only thing I could access around the dust sheets!) and then I made paella for dinner. A bit too much chocolate afterwards though, which is always my downfall.

Today I’m making beef casserole for dinner and will try to have something healthy for lunch. And avoid the chocolate and wine!

Glad you’re ok after your scare @TheRealHousewife. Hope everyone has a good Sunday!

PatienceOfEngels · 06/10/2024 06:49

Really feeling the combination of hotel food and end of cycle. Awful sleep (lights from outside hotel) and feel really dehydrated despite chugging water and herbal tea ll day long. Have a morning session and then back home. Can't wait to be back! I used to be a much more resilient traveller but I really struggle being out of my routine now.

Did manage to get steps in and went for a walk every evening to explore the city a bit while it was light (my conclusion...I don't want to come back here!) and have done yoga every morning and one evening too. Resisting filling my plate at breakfast and lunch buffets has been hard and I've drunk more fruit juice than I normally would. Lunch is provided today but am so desperate to get back home I'm heading straight to the station (have filched some fruit and a few rolls form breakfast for my lunch!).

Pretty sure weigh in this week will not be kind but ready to write it off and have a fresh start when I get home today.

Haven't caught up properly with the thread, but lovely to hear everyone's positive moments for inspiration.
