Hello Members, both Original and New!

Following on from 🍁LOSE IT September 2024🍁

Where did September go!

Now October is upon us, it’s time to start the 12 Week Countdown to Christmas 🎄🎄🎄

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.
As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.
We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).
I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost nearly 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am currently idling around 9st. Aiming to reach my goal of 8st 12lb.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

Weigh in today for me and maintained which I'm gutted about as I've eaten well and done exercise. Hopefully next week I will shift some.

ChickenChipsandBeans · 06/10/2024 10:53

Good morning all. I'm back again after a pointless lack of focus in September. Need to stop pretending to myself that I am on track etc as I most definitely am not! This time last year I joined the thread and was so focused and and serious and I lost a stone in 7 weeks. I was very unhappy with my weight and felt so much better to lose that stone. Then I managed a few more kg, but summer came, complete routine change and yesterday I got on the scales and I was 12st/ 76.6kg. I started out at 82.2kg/12st 13lb so it is creeping back on and will continue to unless I am honest with myself. So....I am aiming to cut alcohol, which always makes me snack, not to buy the snacks that I know I always give in to, eat healthy Mediterranean style food and hit 10,000 steps a day with extra workouts where possible. The weather here is still lovely, 28 degrees today as I walked around the park. I want to try my best to lose a stone in the next 7 weeks. I did it before so I know I can do it again. I will then set a new goal for Christmas. I tried on my 'in between' clothes (not full on winter clothes but not shorts and a t-shirt)and nothing fits again so that is a motivation as I need to be able to fit in to them within a month.

Coatsoff42 · 06/10/2024 15:32

Oh I need to do this, I only work under a deadline!
I weighed myself after a very unrestricted summer and my weight hadn’t changed much so I’m hoping I can get it down a bit, or at least fit into my favourite winter clothes. I’m a 16 at the moment, all my best clothes are 14 or 12 (horrors).
I’m going to go off alcohol, that’s a big problem for me, I wonder if I can get to Xmas, and just eat less bread. Otherwise I eat pretty well.
I think the difficulty is what I need to eat to stay healthy is not what the kids will accept! They burn energy like little furnaces and can eat like horses, but I don’t do as much sports as them and I am only growing outwards lol, so it ends up being two meals which is a bit effortful.

I think I’ll put the heating on and do a 30 days of Adrienne Yoga too, my back is much less flexible than it used to be, a bit of bending and twisting would do it the world of good.

83kg aiming for under 80, or best case scenario 75kg

Fellsbells · 07/10/2024 22:45

Just catching up, glad you’re ok @TheRealHousewife what a horrible combination of things.

Much better day today, ate well and did a workout. I can see in my body I’ve regained a few pounds and I can see in my face I’ve been hitting the carbs (pizza). Need to make sure I tackle it now before it gets silly.

OneDayIWillLearn · 08/10/2024 22:18

Good day….until, OH made dinner and did oven chips and veggie sausages and beans. Which could have been worse except the mountain of oven chips.

and then, realised it was Bake Off, realised we had most of a loaf bought at a market on Sunday left in the cupboard, and decided to make bread and butter pudding. Eek!! Well I enjoyed eating it but can’t say it was worth the calories.

Not expecting much for weigh in tomorrow morning as a result!

PatienceOfEngels · 09/10/2024 07:13

Wow - a disaster as I knew it would be. +2kg in one week (end/beginning of cycle + 3 days out of routine in a hotel for work).

Looking forward to getting back into my routine. Though we have a big birthday in the house next week so it's going to be tough.
Yoga, steps, no snacking apart from fruit/veg/greek yoghurt.
Have soup for lunch. Must resist eating after dinner as that makes a big difference.

Positive - I joined these threads about a year ago and have managed to keep 4kg off over the whole year.

OneDayIWillLearn · 09/10/2024 07:33

12 6 1/2 on scales this morning. 1/2 lb up from last week. Suspect the bread and butter pudding has something to do with that! Bit of a shame as I’d otherwise had a pretty good week but in range of ‘normal fluctuations’ I guess

littlepurplerose · 09/10/2024 07:58

Im joining!

Off out today to get new batteries for my scales.

Goal weight is 59kg. I'd like to achieve this by December 10th. Will see what my starting point is tomorrow morning! I estimate it's around 65kg so not loads to lose.

My approach is going to be walking and just intuitively eating less. Using the scale moving as a guide.

Excited!!!

Iamnotaloggrip · 09/10/2024 08:58

10.11 this morning so another pound down. Slow progress but progress nonetheless!

I made a lentil soup yesterday so that's today's lunch, with sea bass for dinner. Managed to do some weights this morning so I've done some exercise - not sure about a walk at lunch as I've meetings and it's raining so I'm doubly glad I got up early to do it.

Good luck to everyone who's WOWing!

Lem0nTang0 · 09/10/2024 09:38

WoW...not a perfect week but a loss that I am happy with as I was expecting an increase. Couch to 5k is currently my nemesis and I dont know if I will stick with it. Lots of walking still. I need more water, I keep forgetting to drink it

Week - 12 - 1lb down
SW - 15.11
CW - 14.7
GW - 11
Ibs lost - 18

RainbowWife · 09/10/2024 09:43

I'm considering switching to monthly weight ins as when I don't see a positive result I feel so down and unmotivated for the following month. I gained a pound when I got my period despite eating so well and staying under my calories for a week and that was very disheartening.

Fellsbells · 09/10/2024 11:01

Last few weeks have been a disaster of roast potatoes and home baking. I’m 5 lbs up from my lowest weight in mid September.

1lb off this week though so onwards and downwards!

LemonDrizzle23 · 09/10/2024 14:28

I have had a few very self pitying days:

  • DH lost car keys
  • Amazon account hacked
  • Boots running over an hour delay on flu jabs
  • DH complaining during Boots wait that he was feeling sick. DH then throwing up in John Lewis car park and then vomiting all day Saturday!
  • H&M being useless about parcel collection and having bugger all staff
  • Pizza express having bugger all staff working
  • Last cupboard of fully redecorated kitchen won't bloody fit. DH tried to force it, and damaged paintwork.
  • Prepped a casserole to slow cook and forgot to turn the slow cooker on.
  • Feeling vaguely dodgy from the flu jabs
  • and after a deluge at pick up yesterday, it's just started raining again

None of it is bloody life altering, and I need to try and find the silver linings, but Jesus I currently feel fucked off with life!! I completely forgot about WOW this morning. Probably a good thing as I've been rage snacking for four days 🙄

I think either that or doing at least a few a week. I have swerved towards more regular weighing as it allows me to see patterns and trends and it’s less ‘all or nothing’ than weekly.

I was literally just thinking about not doing in-between weigh-ins (I will weigh myself 3-4 times a week to see fluctuations) as if it's going well I ease off and if it's not it makes me feel down! I think I need to stick to just once a week EXCEPT if I'm in the last or first week of my cycle as this always goes up.

e.g. I went up 2+ this week due to cycle and being away in a hotel for 3 nights. Of course it would go up! And in the last 3 days I've had -0.5kg, +1kg, -0.7kg. All this is doing is messing with my head so maybe I should step away from the scales a bit and go on how I'm feeling.

Back in my rhythm with meals now, except evening snacking (cheese, nuts mainly).

Getting there. Keeping up the yoga. Need to keep up the steps and evening walks now it's dark and rainy. DC1 has started secondary school and they're struggling with homework and tests (SEN). If I don't support them with revision then they will drown. So that's another afternoon/evening task that's cropping up and taking some of my time and energy.

@LemonDrizzle23 that sounds like a hell of a week! Be kind to yourself and reset. What's done is done but today is a new day ☀

Today:
-boiled egg and rye toast with butter, coffee
-fruit/veg plate
-surprise soup day with bread/spread
-weird Japanese snack thing (a bit like a jaffa cake but without the cake and some squidgy rice stuff).
-spaghetti bolognese

Have a good day everyone!

LegoTherapy · 10/10/2024 09:39

Checking in late with a 54.85kg

rainbow616 · 11/10/2024 07:02

Morning everyone,

I'm disappointed in myself! So I'm going to start again. I need to exercise more (I've bought a walking pad) and eat better. I'm going to restart the 5:2 diet as well from Monday. That seemed to really work for me.

CW 12st 10.6
GW 12st by 15th November

Hope everyone has a good weekend ❤️

Skyglimmer · 11/10/2024 07:18

@rainbow616 I recently got a walking pad too. It has really helped with upping my exercise.

PatienceOfEngels · 11/10/2024 18:45

Had a lovely day today - walking with a friend in the autumn sunshine followed by tea and cake. Treat lunch at home, comfort TV, warming stew for dinner, and yoga outside before sunset. 🍁🍂

B-boiled egg and rye toast with butter, coffee.
Mint tea and a lemon slice (I need to learn how to make these! It was so yummy).
L-Fresh rye bread with cream cheese, smoked salmon and salad.
D-Chicken casserole (leeks, carrots, mushrooms, onions, bacon) with broccoli and mashed potato.

Skyglimmer · 12/10/2024 06:58

The scales not shifting last week must have been a blip as I have lost 1.3kg this week and didn't change anything.

SW - 62.7
CW - 58.4
GW - 52

PatienceOfEngels · 12/10/2024 08:58

Just been for a long walk with DC2 (everyone else was asleep) . Lovely autumn morning and saw a woodpecker. Almost got all my steps in for today.

Plan for today:
B-boiled egg and rye toast, coffee
L-smoked salmon sandwich
D-pork and egg fried rice with veg (DC are cooking!)

Hoping to make some lemon bars (the one I had yesterday was so delicious I have to try these for home).

Maybe some popcorn with a film later.

Will do yoga later and a short cycle to take DC to music lesson.

Happy weekend!

OneDayIWillLearn · 12/10/2024 09:43

What do you guys do when you’re having a hungry week? I’ve generally not found it too hard to stick to healthy ways and I’ve got ‘usual’ breakfasts, lunches and dinners which I like and know fill me up.

But this week I’ve been thinking about food all the time! I was pretty good at holding back Mon -Thurs but yesterday evening I went a bit mad and ended up on 2700 calories for the day (I did do about an hour and a half of walking so it might take the edge of that but still- eek!). I don’t know if it’s the colder weather/ darker mornings/ I’ve been doing more physically demanding work this week and feeling a bit stressed in general but I’ve felt quite light headed some days and been craving carbs and crisps and generally bad things.

Anyway, wondering do others go through phases like this and how do you ride them out?

PatienceOfEngels · 12/10/2024 13:39

Whereabouts are you in your cycle @OneDayIWillLearn ? I crave carbs during the last week of my cycle. Dr Mindy Pelz recommends things like sweet potato and dark chocolate to hep satisfy your cravings at this stage of your cycle (I listened to her on the Feel Better, Live More podcast). I still can't get on board with IF but agree with her approach of being really mindful of what your body and hormones are doing at different times of the month, and adjusting diet and exercise accordingly).

OneDayIWillLearn · 12/10/2024 18:45

@PatienceOfEngels good question! I’m not that tuned into my cycles as since having a coil my periods are very light. I guess it’s all still going on in some form though and yes that might be it! I think trying to tune into my body is probably sensible- surpressing urges never seems to work well in the long term!

ChickenChipsandBeans · 12/10/2024 20:27

Today is my weigh in day. I've walked 30km this week, been mindful of food... Drastically different to summer...and I've only lost 1lb. However, I also know that I could have been much more disciplined. But, during summer I didn't exercise regularly, and there was no diet control, so I really thought this week would have been better....I obviously need to be much stricter.
