Hello Members, both Original and New!

Following on from 🍁LOSE IT September 2024🍁

Where did September go!

Now October is upon us, it’s time to start the 12 Week Countdown to Christmas 🎄🎄🎄

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.
As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.
We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).
I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost nearly 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am currently idling around 9st. Aiming to reach my goal of 8st 12lb.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

How are we on the 12 week countdown to Christmas already? I really need to be more focused on calories counting and regular exercise. DH has been told to keep an eye on his cholesterol so that might reduce our snacks a little!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 30/09/2024 15:32

And thanks for new thread @TheRealHousewife Flowers

NothingTraLaLa · 30/09/2024 15:39

Thank you for the new thread @TheRealHousewife

I haven’t been around much the past couple of months, but I’m getting back on it for October onwards. I got tantalisingly close to target back in July, but have been a bit slack since then and a few pounds have crept back on.

PatienceOfEngels · 30/09/2024 16:04

I joined these threads a year ago on the October thread and am 5.5kg down from 12 months ago. I always yoyo up and down a bit but hoping these stick.

Will be back tomorrow for a beginning of the month check-in.

-whole foods and home made food as much as possible
-no alcohol
-3 meals a day and fruit/veg snacks
-no eating after dinner (11-12 hour eating window)
-no caffeine after midday
-try to get 10K steps per day
-daily yoga (just about to start another 30 day programme for October)

NothingTraLaLa · 30/09/2024 16:47

@PatienceOfEngels I have a very similar system to yours, except that I am decaf all day, and I’ve only been doing yoga-type activities for a month or so.

What yoga programme are you doing? At present I do one Body Balance class and one yoga class a week (both at the gym) but I’d like to up my practice with some sessions at home - anything you could recommend as being suitable for beginners?

Boicsgoog · 30/09/2024 17:11

Hi could I join please, I started healthy eating three weeks ago and have lost 8lb so far.

First week I didn't pick at all and completely cut out sugary snacks and diet fizzy drinks. Three weeks in and I'm starting to pick at biscuits and the odd chocolate. Not much and staying pretty much within calories but I don't want to undo my hard work. I've never stuck to a diet for more than about 2 days before!

SW: 13st 7lb
CW: 12st 13lb
TW: 9st 13lb

Skyglimmer · 30/09/2024 17:20

Thank you for the new thread. I have managed to consistently eat healthier for September so I am so proud. I am feeling motivated to keep going. I am away in October for a long weekend and won't be calorie counting while away. Setting myself a goal of 1.4kg for the whole month.

RainbowWife · 30/09/2024 18:03

Thanks for the new thread @TheRealHousewife happy to be checking in!

And I bought this countdown chart from Etsy too. I love a sticker chart, I like visual things, so happy to be starting with that tomorrow!

I weigh in on Sundays.

...

😍By the way, I use the 'thanks' button as a 'Like' button on these threads! 😍

OneDayIWillLearn · 30/09/2024 18:46

Joining as a roll on from September! I’m 4 months into my current journey and have lost about a stone over this period, which started at 13 stone 6. I’m aiming to get under 11 stone 7 sometime in the new year and eventually to settle around 11 stone which is in the healthy BMI for me.

I’ve been using WW for tracking alongside ‘The Last Diet’ for mindset change but am experimenting with Nutracheck this week as I think I may be ready to leave WW (and spending £20 a month!) behind me.

for me it’s about changing my mindset from short term ‘weight loss’ being my aim to long term change of my relationship with food and my body. I have tended to have a very ‘all or nothing’ mindset where I’m either sticking to all the rules and losing 2 lbs a week or thinking ‘I’ve blown it’ and eating everything in sight. So I’m trying to get very slow weight loss while learning a way of eating and thinking which will last forever.

Very much a work in progress though!!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 30/09/2024 18:50

I like nutracheck @OneDayIWillLearn when I am focused on using it which I haven’t been recently.

PatienceOfEngels · 30/09/2024 19:37

@NothingTraLaLa I do Yoga with Adriene. Love her practices! This summer I've done my favourite True, followed by Breath and Move. Starting Home tomorrow.

I've cut my coffee right back to 2 small cups at breakfast but 12:00 is my cut off foe interfering with my sleep 😴

Skyglimmer · 30/09/2024 20:05

@OneDayIWillLearn I'm the same with the all or nothing so also trying to change my mindset.

Poisonwood · 30/09/2024 20:58

Hi can I join you? I’ve done well in September and really want to stay making healthy choices. I’d like to lose another 4 stone and finally keep it off for good; slow and steady and I’ll get there.

LemonDrizzle23 · 30/09/2024 20:59

Checking in for tomorrow! Where did September go??

I think I've pretty much maintained over September, which I guess is better than nothing. Will weigh in on Wednesday - just before DH and I go away for a couple of days and a 9 course tasting menu! Can't wait!

Hopefully all kitchen painting and most immediate work related stress will be done by the time we go away on Thursday, so in October, I'm concentrating on me!

Totallybannanas · 30/09/2024 22:10

Hi I would like to join. I think I am 13 stone and need to lose 3 stone. I am early 40's and peri so really struggling with my body changes. Any advice tips would be great. Can I ask why you are cutting out caffeine?

BitOutOfPractice · 01/10/2024 00:04

Hello! Can I join you? I’m a stone down since the start of the year but haven’t really been trying since April. I’m delighted I haven’t put any one but now I’m ready for the next push.

id like to lose 5lbs in October. Also aim for 4 times a week to the gym and no drinking at home 🙈

PatienceOfEngels · 01/10/2024 09:55

Hello October! Going to weigh in tomorrow as usual. Thinking that the last week of my cycle and 3 days away for work are not the best combination for losing any weight over the coming week so going to try and be kind to myself and remember to drink lots of water (staying in hotel on Saturday reminded me how dehydrated I get when away).

LegoTherapy · 01/10/2024 14:48

Checking in with thanks for the shiny new thread. Feeling rather run dune here and a bit off today. I'm bloated and fed up of the rain but have done some Christmas shopping so that's a nice positive 🎄
Welcome newcomers and welcome back old hats. Let's do this!

CW: around 55kg (haven't weighed in a while)
GW: whatever gives me less of a belly.

LegoTherapy · 01/10/2024 14:50

Run down, not run dune🙄 should have put my glasses on.

ihaterain2024 · 01/10/2024 14:54

I would love to join please. Have eaten too much since the beginning of September and have put on around 3.5 kilos, need to stop as all my jeans are too tight. Have had a compulsory weight in at gp appointment yesterday which was 56.6 kg, up from 53.
CW 56.6
GW 53

Poisonwood · 01/10/2024 19:23

Nice dinner, beef stew and vegetables. One meal a day is working well at the minute. A bit lax in drinking today as have been so busy, will try harder tomorrow,

PatienceOfEngels · 02/10/2024 06:58

WOW - not great today! +1.2kg (which is +0.5kg from yesterday) That'll be a weekend away with 4 meals out and end of my cycle then. Not sure the next week is going to look much better with 3 nights in a hotel for work. October is going to be a tough month with a big birthday n the house and trip away in half term. C'est la vie!

Still, my loss over the whole of September was 1.1kg (if I take yesterday's weight as end of the month instead of today!).

SW 77kg (Oct 23)
CW 72.4kg
GW 68kg

Today:
B-boiled egg, rye toast and butter, coffee x2
S-fruit/veg
L-pumpkin bread with soft cheese, grapes
D-DH is cooking so probably tomato soup with bread

Going to do yoga when I get to work. Probably no walk tonight as I need to get packed.

OneDayIWillLearn · 02/10/2024 07:26

WOW: 12 stone 5 7/8lbs - about a lb down from last night. Happy with this. Had a bit of a wild Friday night and all of Saturday but otherwise been pretty good.

SW:13 stone 6
GW: 11 stone 3

LemonDrizzle23 · 02/10/2024 07:33

Good morning and good luck to everyone who is WOW-ing!

I have effectively maintained for September, so looking for a loss in October. I know there was a bit of summer holidays, a week away, too much snacking! and not enough movement that probably contributed.

SW: 97.5kg
CW: 92.3kg
10%: 88kg

LegoTherapy · 02/10/2024 07:40

Morning all. An expected stay the same at 54.9kg today. I've not been trying at all but I'm not gaining anything which I'm happy about. I'm walking between 10 and 12 miles a day during the week and I'm glad it won't be in the pouring rain today. Monday was horrendous here with relentless heavy rain.
Good luck to those wowing today!
