Following on from LOSE IT! Awesome August

Drum roll please! Now it’s the time for an Autumn Re-set!

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost nearly 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am idling around 9st 4lbs after having been hovering around 8st 12lb for several months. TIME FOR ACTION and get back on it! 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

Up at little today thanks to the salty crisps and not enough water. I'll be clocking up about 10 miles today. Porridge for breakfast, yogurt for lunch and who knows for dinner.

HomemadeHallie · 04/09/2024 07:14

WOW - 10 st 0.1 & Body Fat 31.9 %

OneDayIWillLearn · 04/09/2024 07:15

Weigh in - 12 stone 11 1/4. So 4 lbs up from 2 weeks ago (which seems fair), probably a bit of that is water weight still. Might have to rethink my goal of being back in the 11 stones something bracket by my birthday at the end of October!! 🙄

LemonDrizzle23 · 04/09/2024 07:46

@RedBlackBlue I know, right? Such a pain what they choose to actually listen to 😂

First WOW of September and I've had a 1kg loss this week. I think in part because I was having a silly "bounce up" of weight last week.

DS goes back to school today, so I aim to get back into a bit of routine.

SW: 97.5kg
CW: 92.1kg
10%: 88kg

I'm feeling inspired by the yoga - I'm going to get my mat out and get back into my pilates. Try and improve my core strength this autumn.

Good luck to everyone WOW-ing!

TheRealHousewife · 04/09/2024 08:23

Good Morning & Happy WOW!

WOW - No change. I’m expecting a mini whoosh next week 🙂 Im not so much changing what I eat but I am weighing portions again. I’m also trying to move more!

Welcome to the thread @TealIntermittentFaster 👋👍

@OneDayIWillLearn You have about 8 weeks to your Birthday (is that right) Without putting yourself under too much pressure just reassess your plan. In general weight loss occurs if you create a deficit of at least 500 calories a day = 1lb loss per week. There is some evidence that it also matters where your eating calories come from. It’s generally promoted to focus on healthy fats, proteins, fibre, veg and some fruits. Try not to drink calories (alcohol) and reduce UPFs and sugars. Good luck, you can do it!

Posted too early …

@PatienceOfEngels Well done on sticking to plan 👍

Thats a good healthy swap @LemonDrizzle23 👏

@RedBlackBlue Sounds sensible and who wants to miss out on Birthday Cake 🎂😬

@LegoTherapy You’ll have worked off any extra cals with an 8 mile walk! Well done! 👏

@Iamnotaloggrip Pilates already 😮 Well done 👏

@Cheeseagain Try not to stress, if you’re doing your thing (to lose) it will happen 🙂

@TheRealHousewife thank you, yes I just need to keep rational! sorry I was a bit flustered and out of sorts this morning trying to get back into the school routine after a packed summer and not got my sensible head on!

In general my mantra is to focus on what I can control (behaviours, habits, practices) and have targets around them, rather than to have targets which I can’t control (how much weight I lose). If I focus on what I can control then I know the weight loss will come. I’m doing weight watchers and when I’m following it properly I will lose 1-2lbs a week. But actually my REAL goal is around an improved relationship with food and my body.

Anyway, I’m back in a better frame of mind now, today’s goal is all about the re-start!

WOW - no change 😫
Feel a bit deflated as thought I would make a bit of progress. Have stopped full cal counting so need to get back to that clearly.

CW 9st 10
GW 9st 3

Inspired by @TealIntermittentFaster and @Accbabymom1994 I’m going to try IF again - that’s worked for me before.

good luck everyone 🍀

Hey ! Good luck and less us now how u get on x

Accbabymom1994 · 04/09/2024 09:40

Wat does wow mean

SkyeBlue28 · 04/09/2024 10:26

Good morning. I couldn’t decide what day I should weigh myself so I will join you all with the Wednesday weigh in.

SW: 10 stone 1lb
CW: 9 stone 12 and 1/4 lb
GW: 9 stone 7 lbs

My weighing scales measures by ever 1/4 pound so that’s why my current weight is so specific!

I am happy with my progress so far. I have been calorie counting using My Fitness Pal for 2 weeks now. I have also started exercising again after being very lazy all summer. It helps that my children went back to school last week so I have some time in the mornings to go for a walk or do a you tube video. My mood and energy levels have improved which is interesting as I thought I would feel more tired with less calories and more exercise. I’m sure that not drinking alcohol has something to do with that too.

It’s lovely reading all the updates here and seeing how we have all set our own goals and have our own way of achieving them.

Good morning all.

Joining in for accountability. Just retired from a very stressful job and piled on some pounds over the last few years. Usual excuses (lack of time to plan properly, lots of social eating/drinking etc) but all done now and time for a concerted effort to get healthier.

By that I mean get my weight and waist measurement down back into a healthy range, follow IF, cut out a lot of sugar, eat more protein and veg, and do some exercise I enjoy for starters.

Eased in over August and set myself a target to lose 3kg, which I just managed, and to do free weights 3 times a week which I also achieved, so feeling pretty positive.

Goal for September is continue with free weights and lose 2kg.

SW: 72.5kg (11st 6lbs)
CW: 69.5kg (10st 13lbs)
GW: 57kg (9st)

Following everyone's progress with interest to pick up tips!

TheRealHousewife · 04/09/2024 10:44

@SkyeBlue28 Youre doing great and not far from goal! Well done 👏

@OneDayIWillLearn I hope I didn’t come across as telling you off or patronising 🙂. If I did, I apologise.

Weigh-in Day for me:

SW: 13st 8lbs
CW: 12st 8lbs
TW: 10st 7lbs

Officially now lost 1st 🎉 I'm going away at the end of September, so hopefully I'll lose some more before then!

TheRealHousewife · 04/09/2024 11:33

@FrostedCupcakes Thats amazing, congratulations 🥳

@Accbabymom1994 Hahaha 🤣. It’s optional, do what works for you.

Im in! Well done to everyone who has made the move and started losing.

Started my journey in July but been on holiday since then. My turning point was finding myself in tears in a dressing room because nothing fit me in the new larger sizes I picked up.

I have started walking a couple of miles a day inspired by downloading the NHS app Active 10 was aiming for 10 minutes of brisk walking and then realised how close to a mile it was, this has now contributed to me doubling that. I do not like any exercise, the walking is still hard work for me but I have a long way to go so am sticking with it. So close to a stone off and aiming for 1lb per week, stalled with a 3 week plateau due to holiday. Have worked out that 1lb per week will take me until next Nov to get to goal weight so I am removing all pressure. Reduced ultra processed food, drinking 2l of water, reduced caffiene and calorie counting

My rule is 'no food is bad, no food is a treat, food is just food and its up to me to make the right choices.'

SW - 15.11
CW - 14.12
GW - 11

Sometimes it is hard but to me it is harder not feeling comfortable in my own skin, not being able to do things because of my fitness and not fitting in the big size cothes I take to the dressing room in shops.

@TheRealHousewife oh goodness not at all! I really appreciated you taking the time to write and what you said helped me refocus. Never a bad time to be reminded of the basics either 😊

TheRealHousewife · 04/09/2024 13:04

Welcome to the thread @Lem0nTang0 👋 What an impressive start you’ve had; thank you for sharing thats quite inspiring.

@OneDayIWillLearn Thats good to read. I’m always mindful of how things might ‘read’ as it’s difficult to always set the right context 🙂.

Thank you! I have been trying to lose the same half a stone for a while but never took it seriously before. Hopefully I can do it this time.
MFP gave me a calorie allowance of 1390 to lose a half a pound a week. So the process might be slow but I don’t want to reduce my calories as I think I would be hungry.

Rhinohorn · 04/09/2024 15:13

Well done everyone, keep going.

My friend popped in this morning for a cuppa .. and brought us a bacon roll each. I had to eat it to be kind. I was not happy though. Plus it meant eating it during my fasting time. Trying not to eat anything else today to compensate.

I've clocked up 11 miles walking so far in Sept. But I'm currently off work and have therefore had more time to walk.

Weigh in for me is sunday

TheRealHousewife · 04/09/2024 16:36

I’m a very slow loser @SkyeBlue28 … 6/7 years to lose around 4stone 😮. It took me a very long time to lose the last half stone. I took my eye of the ball as I didn’t have the band width to manage it and gained a few lbs back. I’m back on it now. I don’t care how long it will take me. If I hadn’t taken action all those years ago I have a strong suspicion I’d be 4stone heavier rather than 4stone lighter. If the long term trajectory is downwards you’re winning 🥇 You’ll get there 👍

@Rhinohorn Have you only had 1 bacon bap? Rather than not have anything can’t you have veg or salad with a piece of chicken or fish? You still need nutrition. Also have plenty of water to aid dissipation of the carby bread and salt from the bacon. Well done on your 11 miles 😮👏👏👏

I have almost stuck to my plan today with the exception of a handful of nuts and some cheese BUT this was a stress eat after DC1 got sent home from school for fighting and I am impressed with myself I didn't scoff more than that 😂

Even better, I popped out to the supermarket after dinner to pick up bits for my event tomorrow and managed to avoid stuffing my basket with junk. Usually I would run for the biscuit and crisp aisle out of despair.

PatienceOfEngels · 04/09/2024 18:36

I'm a slow loser as well. If I lose quickly I tend to put it back on. I lost 8kg in 4 months at the end of 2023, put 5 of it back on Feb - August and now 1kg down...so am 4kg down on this time last year (and 6kg down on the year before). Just need to keep it going in the right direction and be a bit more consistent.
