Following on from LOSE IT! Awesome August

Drum roll please! Now it’s the time for an Autumn Re-set!

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost nearly 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am idling around 9st 4lbs after having been hovering around 8st 12lb for several months. TIME FOR ACTION and get back on it! 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

@LegoTherapy Salty weight gain soon disappears 👍

I’ve done my short Yoga session now having a black coffee ☕️

@LegoTherapy I am making this tomorrow for an event at school.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/leekandpotatosoup_1920 I sometimes reduce the stock if I want it thicker. Add crispy bacon bits when I want to be decadent!

Leek and potato soup recipe

Leek and potato soup recipe

A smooth, creamy leek and potato soup that's full of flavour and can be made in 15 minutes. Make it into a meal with plenty of bread and butter.

Thanks @TheRealHousewife , I think the no calories is only for the birthday person, but I think they are half calories for the parents 😂😂

TheRealHousewife · 03/09/2024 09:47

That's a lot of soup! We have a soup club at work once a week. You sign up for 2-3 times per school year to make soup for everyone (10-14 people) and provide bread with butter/spread etc.

My turn next week (event tomorrow is for my A-level students).

Also had a few salty days here (takeaway Sunday, finished leftovers yesterday, crisps) so today I must stay strong and get my water in. This morning's scales were not what I wanted to see!

Managed 10,000 steps a day for almost the whole summer holiday. 2 weeks back at work and repeat mini-heatwaves mean I haven't been going for my daily walks or hitting my goal. I can notice it in my knees when doing yoga, especially any kind of lunge. So must make an effort to get out for a walk. Once the weather turns I might do that in the morning before breakfast and yoga in the evening.

10,000 steps each day of the holidays is fantastic 👍👌 ... I'm lucky if I've reached 10,000 for the whole holiday @PatienceOfEngels 😂

I have started Intermittent Fasting this week and will probably need support along the journey to keep me motivated and to keep cravings at bay. I love hearing about other people's successes, struggles and all the tiny details that others probably find boring. I have tried SW in the past and I was successful the first time (and then got pregnant), but struggled every time after that as progress was so slow and I felt deprived of the foods I loved. I also tried WW for a short time but couldn't cope with having to weigh everything (I think they have changed this now, but it still put me off) and what I am most cheesed off about is the amount of money I have ploughed into these multi-national companies and I come out the other side bigger than ever!

Anyway, rant over. My plan is simple (for now). Intermittent Fasting 7 days a week 16:8 at least, but more if I can. Avoid processed food, sugar and anything 'white'. I'm not ready to give up all carbs yet so when I do have them I will try and choose brown rice, pasta and bread. Just drinking water and black coffee when fasting (however I was considering peppermint tea - is this allowed?). Also doing daily strength exercises, yoga and walking 50 miles a month. I am not calorie counting at the moment as I find the process laborious as most of my food is home-made, but this may be something I consider as I go along. My weigh-in day is Monday.

Starting Weight: 18 stone 2.7lbs (253.7 lbs)
Goal Weight: 10 stone 7 lbs (147 lbs)

PatienceOfEngels · 03/09/2024 17:55

Mint tea (or any herbal tea) is fine when fasting @TealIntermittentFaster as long as you don't add honey.

I have managed to stick to my plan today. 🏅No stress/emotional/boredom eating while the kids were at school and heading out for meeting at DC school in an hour so no chance of munching in front of the TV.

LemonDrizzle23 · 03/09/2024 19:13

We had ribs for dinner tonight, so I told DH that I wanted mine with some roasted butternut squash (freezer pack thing) instead of chips.

Spent the early evening at a children's party, came home really hungry hoping he'd forget and make me chips, but he bloody remembered the butternut squash 😂 Saving me from myself....

RedBlackBlue · 03/09/2024 19:29

Ha @LemonDrizzle23 isn't it bad when they listen to us when we don't want them too!

I managed to stick to a small piece of that half calorie cake and went to the gym. Tea will be late tonight, but I have already added it to my planner and I am within calories!

Fellsbells · 03/09/2024 22:09

Good day for me. I’ve got back on track.

B- greek yoghurt, fruit, milled flax seeds.
L- egg on toast with avocado, Mini magnum
D- salmon, vegetable tagine, halloumi.

I did an abs workout and 9k steps.

hopeful for WOW tomorrow.

HomemadeHallie · 03/09/2024 22:32

@TheRealHousewife yes I think it’s probably directly related 🤣 weirdly I seem to get more energy the longer I fast! And I am trying to still eat a decent amount of healthy calories in my eating window. I do think I need to up my protein intake.

Today I did a 25 min cardio workout this morning. Fasted 17 hours and ate same courgette/chickpea dish for lunch, chicken salad for dinner.
will do first weigh in tomorrow.

LegoTherapy · 03/09/2024 22:40

Good was rubbish today apart from breakfast and lunch. Dinner was a packet of revels and I had some crisps before the school run. I have however clocked up 8 miles of walking up and down hills.

Accbabymom1994 · 03/09/2024 22:45

I had 2 Samosas, 1 chapati, meat curry , English tea and 2 choc biscuits and a small piece of cake, all from 2pm to 4pm . Just water since. I can feel my periods coming on , I'm getting hot flushes and cramps , not lookin forward to that

Hey I'm doing intermittent fasting and have lost 22 pounds since July . I've not stopped eating anything I have just made my eating window smaller as I feel like how long will we resist this food ? In the past I have been through every diet and tbh when I deprive myself I end up eating double when I give up . If there is food or a gathering , I just bring my food home or I will put away a plate for tomorrow and then eat that during my eating window.
Sw 15.05
Cw 13.12
Gw 10.0

Iamnotaloggrip · 03/09/2024 22:52

Not bad here - salad and fruit for lunch and lasagne for dinner. Two squares of 85% chocolate. And I managed to lift some weights - but didn’t go for a walk today, will try again tomorrow.

I haven’t weighed myself for a long time so part interested, part apprehensive about tomorrow!

PatienceOfEngels · 04/09/2024 06:32

Wow - no change here (though I know I have yo-yoed through the week +/-0.4kg). If I want to see a change I need to have a crisp free weekend! Period on the way as well so must remember to take it easy over the weekend and rest.

Plan for today:
✅sunrise yoga
✅B - boiled egg, rye toast, butter, coffee
S- fruit/veg plate
L - leek and potato soup
S -last slice of lemon drizzle cake (saved it from DH who was trying to eat the last 2 slices last night!)
D - sweet and sour chicken with rice

Walk this evening to up my steps.

Have a good day everyone 🌝

Iamnotaloggrip · 04/09/2024 06:56

WOW - 10 stone 13, which works out at about 69 kg. About what I expected tbh. I'd like to get a stone off at least. About 9 and a half stone is probably about right for me but anything starting with a 9 will do!

Done a pilates class this morning (I'm another one who has to get up to do it before the kids get up!) - will finish off the lasagne for lunch, then will use up the leftover roast chicken from Sunday in chicken fried rice.

Have a good day everyone!

OneDayIWillLearn · 04/09/2024 07:01

Ok, kids back to school today and I’m seriously going to try to have a good day today!! Monday and Tuesday were not good days - we have just bought a new house (not moving until January as lots of work to do) but we went over to get the keys and spend our first night there, and then back fairly late yesterday for school today. So the food was quite improvised and including a Burger King on the way home yesterday (I don’t even like Burger King!).

I’m going to restart a journaling practice today, got a big Tesco shop coming 9-10am and meals all planned out for the rest of the week. I’m on an average of 9857 steps a day for this calendar year - it was over 9900 at the start of the summer hols so my target is to get that back up this month! And to get back to 12 stone 7, which where I was before this latest disaster of a two- three weeks.

onwards!!

Loseitlikelollo · 04/09/2024 07:10

WOW- I’m on my period today so I’ll skip it. I’m always a couple of pounds heavier on my period even when I don’t binge, so I feel it won’t be an accurate representation of how much I actually weigh.

I woke up so early today which isn’t great, I tend to be hungrier if I haven’t slept well and if I’m up for longer. It’s easier for me to start eating at 11am if I wake up at 8am than if I get up at 5am like today. Plan for today is:

meal 1: oats and banana

meal 2: homemade chicken burgers made from chicken mince with 2 slices of sourdough bread

Snack: 2 boiled eggs

Lots of coffee, tea and water.

7K steps.

@Iamnotaloggrip I’m a similar weight to you (10 stone 9) and aiming for 9stone eventually too although my next milestone is 10stone.

Cheeseagain · 04/09/2024 07:12

WOW - no change 😫
Feel a bit deflated as thought I would make a bit of progress. Have stopped full cal counting so need to get back to that clearly.

CW 9st 10
GW 9st 3

Inspired by @TealIntermittentFaster and @Accbabymom1994 I’m going to try IF again - that’s worked for me before.

good luck everyone 🍀
