Following on from LOSE IT! Awesome August

Drum roll please! Now it’s the time for an Autumn Re-set!

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost nearly 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am idling around 9st 4lbs after having been hovering around 8st 12lb for several months. TIME FOR ACTION and get back on it! 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

I use My Fitness Pal to track calories. You can copy over meals so does make it easier.

PatienceOfEngels · 29/09/2024 17:34

@RainbowWife I use whatever I have (usually white plain flower as well)!

Had a love night away with kids and food went to plan (did enjoy my hotel breakfast and meal out last night). My health has not though and I currently have a horrible cold and headache, and haven't stopped sneezing all day. No yoga and going to bed early. Had a good long walk along the beach this morning and lots of steps in yesterday as well.

PatienceOfEngels · 29/09/2024 17:42

*flour (why autocorrect? why?!)

RainbowWife · 29/09/2024 17:43

@OneDayIWillLearn I can't recommend Nutracheck enough. You can pay monthly, think I paid £25 for the year and there's a free trial.

Calorie counting is the only thing that has ever worked for me. It is a little bit of effort, but 95% of the stuff I eat is on there already just scan the barcode, and keep kitchen scales on the counter for the things I need to weigh. I eat a lot of the same things so you can save them and just use them easily again.

Join us on the calorie counting thread to see what we're all eating. I'm eating loads and still losing weight, just making better choices.

Hi, fucking hell, I'm trying to gradually make changes and loose weight sustainably but I keep falling off the wagon to the point that I'm flat lining...

@PatienceOfEngels poor you, hope you wake up tomorrow feeling loads better

LemonDrizzle23 · 29/09/2024 19:14

@OneDayIWillLearn I would also recommend nutracheck. It's a very low annual payment. I found it much more useful for tracking UK foods than other apps I've tried.

Fellsbells · 29/09/2024 20:38

@OneDayIWillLearn 😂 I love wolf’s day of eating.

I use my fitness pal. It’s free and I’ve been using it every day for nearly 3 months.

@Fellsbells it was in the Radio Times which actually must mean it was more like 25 years ago as I have never bought the Radio Times (!!) so I must have still been living at home. But yeah I reckon what’s good enough for Wolf is good enough for me 😂

Accbabymom1994 · 29/09/2024 21:31

I don't calorie count with intermittent fasting but if I want yo check calories I use my fitness pal

PatienceOfEngels · 30/09/2024 09:00

Feeling bleeurgh! Home ill, mostly on the sofa.

Hoping this week's excesses won't have damaged the scales too much. I enjoyed myself but was able to restrain myself from going completely crazy. Though got home last night and DH had done a massive batch of ribs so had lots of meat.

Plan for today:
B - boiled egg, rye toast and butter, coffee
S-2x satsumas (finally finished the damn things!)
L-chicken and barley stew out of the freezer
D- spaghetti bolognese

Lots of herbal tea with honey.
Will not be getting shoes in but may do some yoga if I feel up to it.
Prioritising rest.

I probably won’t be welcome on this thread ! I’m doing a VLCD weight loss plan called New You which involves 4 Shakes mixed with water .
Ive done this type of diet before , it’s fairly brutal but for me it works well .I needed a drastic kick start as I’ve stopping and starting since around July and got very cross with myself ..
Im 5‘ 5“ and my start weight was 13st 2 lbs .
I have been on it a week so will weigh myself tomorrow .I haven’t found it particularly hard , it suits my personality to have very strict guidelines. I know these VLCD‘s aren’t for everyone and receive a lot of criticism, gallstones , ruining your metabolism etc , but being overweight also carries significant health risks and causes such mental anguish .
At the moment I don’t have a particular goal weight in mind , last year I was 10 7 lbs and while that still put me in the overweight category on stupid bmi charts , I was happy , felt and looked good . If anyone is doing something similar I’d be very interested to hear how you got on .

Accbabymom1994 · 30/09/2024 09:58

13.9 today after a month of no budging on the scale ! So happy

@Raininginmyheart Anyone is welcome 🤗 From what I’ve read around VLCD; any fall from the wagon can be spectacular. I hope you’re getting nutritional advice from either a GP, pharmacist or qualified weight loss coach.

Welcome @Raininginmyheart Had to look up what VLCD meant!

I have often found that I need to kickstart myself into a diet (often by calorie counting) but know that I can't maintain it in the long term (I can't cope with being hungry, though resetting myself in terms of portion size and normal eating patterns helps). Good luck!

I try (!) to eat as much whole foods as possible, 3 meals a day, snack on fruit/veg/greek yoghurt/nuts and avoid eating after dinner (so around 11hour eating window). I walk and do daily yoga. I don't drink alcohol and caffeine is only at breakfast. I'm trying to deal with the rest of my life at the same time - relax, sleep better - everything links back to stress and emotions for me so by dealing with that I tend to eat better.

Feeling much better after a day at home on the sofa. Have stuck pretty much to plan - difficult to binge on junk when there's nothing in the house! Finished my 30 day yoga programme today 🎉and ready to move onto the next one tomorrow. Feeling a real difference in my body after 90 days.

Overall loss in September 1kg (with some yoyoing up and down!)

Thanks for the new October thread @TheRealHousewife !

Lol I realised it was 1st September not August so it took me 1 month to lose 4 pounds , which was slower but at least it's not 2 months lol

Thank you for your messages !
this is an inspirational board I can see .
Im very well informed all things health and well being related and my Doctor has no concerns , infact as I also have high blood pressure and high cholesterol it was suggested that this way of kick starting weight loss could be very beneficial, not necessarily for everyone but certainly for me .
I am feeling hungry this evening I cannot lie 🤣, however I’ve come to understand that evenings are always tricky time …
